Friendly staff small shop sandwiches coffee bulbs oil toiletries etc usual motorway prices free toilet 24 hours canopy height is 4.7m but there's a sign that says No HGVs there's a photo of this in the reviews I've seen trucks stop at the premier Inn that's next to it however.

I literally only called in this place to refuel my car and take a short break from a long road trip. Whilst here I used their public toilets and found them in a surprisingly clean condition, which made a change from some petrol stations that I have visited. The staff were plesent and happy to help me as I wanted change for the compressed air machine on the forecourt. I also purchased a coffee which was reasonably priced, before continuing on the rest of my journey.

Ok petrol station but as pitstop it’s the pits, nothing but grease and stodge on offer. No breakfast. Have to say, sparkling clean toilets. If it had a proper high quality cafe it would be great. Nice people.

It is usually hard to find words to describe a motorway service station. This Esso, however, stands like a beacon in the unmitigating ocean of the A1.A road not so much in the sense of a means of transportation, but a unique modality of human social interaction. The A1 is not traveled alone, but always with a cocktail party of personalities that one interacts with briefly, those who are to be navigated and those we simply seek to avoid. Perhaps this Esso is simply a convenient stop for a robitically dispensed, 'Saving the world from mediocre coffee' cup of Costa liquid, or perhaps more, it is a brief refuge from the purple mini behind the Tate & Lyle tanker and an escape from the visceral extremes of modern human nature with decent sausage rolls.

Wasn't too busy when we stopped there and it was fairly quick service. However the one toilet was not at all clean.
