Reviews of Dunfermline Town
Lovely railway station, it has a kiosk inside the ticket office where you can get coffee and cake as well as sweets biscuits and soft drinks. Plenty of shelter space in case of bad weather
Love this town good for shopping and for eating out. Also some nice places to stay
Dunfermline town now city one of best town
Nice little railway station. Only platform 2 is fully covered, but there is a small covered area on platform 1 (this the platform to head to Edinburgh). Currently free parking on both sides of the station, but on the south side you will find it gets filled up with Royal Mail employee's vehicles.
Regular train links to Edinburgh. Heated waiting rooms and shelters to stay dry and warm. Bicycle lockers and ample parking. Bus links to the town if you don't fancy the 5 minute uphill walk. Hot drinks available in the ticket office waiting room.
Anyone seen my dad?
Staff here are always polite and helpful. I’ve used the station on a daily basis in the past and have never had any problems. It’s not mainline so buffet is no open long hours. It serves the morning commute and into the afternoon but is shut in the evenings. The ticket office is staffed until last trains have passed through and there is a self serve machine on platform one. There is usually one or two car parking spaces available throughout the day and the main car park is accessed from Woodmill Road. There is a car park with about 40 spaces on the Queen Margaret side (this is a one way road) and you will find taxis on this side too. The station is served well by taxis and there are bus stops a short distance away on QM Drive which operate to and from the City Centre. If you don’t mind the Hill, the city centre is ten minutes walk and start by going through the underpass. Then turn either left or right to find your way up hill to the town.
Staff always happy to help, food and drink available from fairly early in morning from a stall, facilities are clean and secure. Have always enjoyed any commuting from this station.
It's got shops
Steep climb to city centre
Toilets are secure so you have to ask for the key from station staff. Snack stand is adequate with friendly staff.
