Reviews of Golfbug - The Wast Hills Golf Centre
Well overall it's a good place to practise chipping and pitching for a fiver. Some of the greens aren't the best. However, before the course is the turnstile, you are told it is easy but then it doesn't work. Surely there must be any easier way to work payment operations. Pay at reception and get a 4 digit code to operate the turnstile? Oh yes, after the green on the third hole turn right and go up a slight incline for the forth ( there's no sign ).
Good Value for money, quiet relaxed atmosphere in the morning. A decent golfing range
Great range!!! Play the first 5 bays if you can and you still need to look down range. However if you just want a practice it's perrrfeccc. 1 more thing the par 3 is a great idea, but the greens need a lot of help... My friend said bring your wellies... I say bring your jungle putter 😂😂😂👍🏿🖤
Its a while since I went to a driving range and Golfbug is only a mile away from my home.
Visited on Sunday 21st Nov. Automated ball dispenser works well with contactless payment.
The range and bays are well set out but.....,.
Its website boasts top rate facilities, but to be honest the mats in the range bays are some of the worst I have ever seen.. very worn, especially around the " rubber tee" areas. Hitting irons off the mats is also a pain, with no give at all.
Come on Golfbug, get the wallet out and get some decent mats that more closely represent "fairway" conditions.
Very good price, location is easy to get to, can't go wrong for a family day out!
Nice overall experience at Wast Hills, brilliant driving rance and a nice 9 hole course at a very affordable price. Only suggestion would be to have the staff a little bit more proactive and attentive. Overall if your thinking of going you won't regret it
Good challenging Par 3 course. No staff for the pitch and putt. Just a contactless pad on a turnstile to get onto the course which costs £5.
Course was challenging with the last 2 holes being played alongside the end of the driving range.
Very good price, location is easy to get to, can't go wrong for a family day out!
This place is ok...ish.
The carpark has plenty of parking, I've been a few times and never struggled to park.
£20 for 500 balls isn't bad at all compared to other ranges in the area. You get a card to keep and use again when you return.
The mats are looking a bit tatty and there could be more tees knocking around. I didn't see any mirrors behind the bays, which would be a nice addition for training purposes.
Balls are pinnacle range balls, and they're like bricks, but then, they are range balls so it's to be expected.
A few flags and mock greens to aim for, at varying distances, along with distance markers. Other than that, there isn't much interest.
Not bad to go a hit a few balls, but not much else.
Value for money with reference to the facilities however much needs to be done with the security as there was around 5 youths smoking cannabis and behaving dangerously with the golf balls coupled with offensive language. Very disappointing
Good location, clean and tidy. Range is very uphill, which while is good to keep it compact, is not great for learning golf shots. Mats are all in working order, however a severe case of missing tees, some only have 1. Instead of 4 they come with.
It's ok.... needs some money spent on the facilities, mats were very worn , 9 hole pitch and putt ok but needs a little work ,
But adequate
Plenty of room, bays are well sheltered long opening hours. The best deal is ten buckets for £36. £3.60 for 100 balls.
An excellent par 3 course which is perfect for beginners of Golf to practice their Pitch and Putt.
During Covid-19 you have to bring your own golf clubs so don't forget them.
It is also reasonably priced so I would highly recommend. There is also no membership free which is great!
Overal 5/5 for a 9 hole par 3 golf course!
Decent self service golf range, around 30 partitioned tee boxes on good quality AstroTurf mats with a good assortment of rubber tee sizes. Club rental if required. Can pay for range balls with cash or card (for card minimum is 5x 100 balls and a range card will be given for return visits) 9 hole pitch and putt at rear is average, longest hole around 110 yards most around 80 yards. Greens not the best but playable.
No frills driving range. Balls and mats are ancient. Decent targets but could do with more between 100 and 150. Open late though so best option in the area for an evening hit and good value if you get the card.
Apart from the balls I was hitting only going about 10 meters it's a fine place.... Everyone else's balls were doing just fine. Must have been a dodgy batch 😏
easy to pip in hit a few balls and practice will be back 👍
Lovely peaceful place right in the city. Great little course too!!
Cheap and cheerful, had everything you’d want at a driving range. The staff were really helpful and friendly, we got a card so we could get a discount on the balls as we got so many. Had a great time.
Great little driving range, clean and tidy.
Good happy hours with more balls for your money.
Has a car park but as with all ranges keep away from where the balls may land.
Ian is the resident instructor and has a plan and simple instruction technique.
First time I've been here in years. Much better than it used to be. Lots of bays. The machine for the balls didn't take care payment unless I spent £20 (if memory serves me correctly) so if you want to hit a few balls you need cash
Cheap and cheerful, greens on the 9 hole could do with looking after better.
Driving range at a reasonable price. Can hire clubs and has a small 9 hole par 3 course great for beginners. Could do with being tidyed up a bit.
If you've tried the course in the past then you'll be impressed. The course (particularly the greens) is a lot better maintained than then but it's now £5 for a pitch and putt so may be worth considering instead something like the front nine of the Lickeys for a bit more, but if you've just got three quarters of an hour then it's a good option.
Good golf range and par 3 course fun.
Had a great time. Cheap and nicely located. Great help from Professionals.
Great, got a flat tyre at 10:30pm on a country road (Redhill Road) outside the golfcourse after driving over what I can only describe as a pothole the size of the Grand Canyon. It was at this time the heavens decided to open in an attempt to fill this great crater and soak me whilst waiting. In need of safe location I could wait in my vehicle whilst out of the rain I noticed a sign in the distance of the gloom, alas this was the Wast Hills Golf Course, I decided to roll my car to the safety of thier driveway so as not to obstruct her Majestys highway and cause any danger. I then phoned my recovery operator of choice and informed them of my predicament and location, we had a good laugh when the operator struggled to understand that I was saying Wast & not West when giving the address. Eventually recovery picked me up and dropped me off, he had no issues with recovering my vehicle from thier driveway. Flipping fantastic.
Oh also, side note, got bitten by a dog tonight, may do a review of my local GP soon.
Does what it says on the tin a few times you can struggle with finding rubber tees in the bays but I brought my own now of ebay not much either.
Driving range Bit tied looking, tee off mats bit awkward to stand on as not big enough. No automatic adjusting tee like other driving ranges.
Was fun but the greens could do with some well needed maintenance as you can get on the green in 1 shot but end up taking 5 putts due to divots an worn away green
Great place to go with the kids especially when it's raining and you don't take it too seriously.
First time there need LOADS of practice
£5 for 100 balls, change machines and club hire available. Simple and easy to use for even the most amateur golfers.
Best Golf Range in the Midlands. I've tried almost all the ranges within an hour of Stourbridge and I keep coming back to this one. Relaxed environment, everything is automated, great balls and mats.
Nice place to use the range. Condition is OK but the prices reflect that. Pitch and putt is again a good small course. Good all round
£5 for 100 balls. Good facilities and plenty of room. Highly recomended.
Really good place to smash some balls out. And added bonus it has a 9 hole pitch and put but the greens need some repair.
Fantastic amenities, self service at it's best with help if needed. Great for first time golfers who want to get into the swing of things.
Great place to go if you just want to release some tension or for the professional player
Great facility, loads of bays, very well priced. Par 3 course is pretty shabby but get what you pay for!
Good range. Guy at the reception was really friendly and helpful.
Excellent driving range, usually not to busy so you can set yourself up with your camera to analyse your swing
Very great place to practice other than being on the course and not to expensive either .....worth a look 🏌️♂️🏌️♀️
My first time here. Basic driving range, no shop or facilities but the chap in the office did lend me a golf glove.
Fun bank holiday Monday, will definitely come again with the family, didn't realise until today they have a pitch and putt, was great fun!
The flexible opening hours offer something unique comapred to other ranges, especially on the weekend. Very enjoyable experience.
I'd imagine it gets s bit chilly in winter, but there is plenty of room, staff are friendly, remember to bring cash as most options require this
1st time, great place to practice on your golf swing, Enjoyed will go again
Good fun! Simple & easy to use. 100 balls £5. Only a Portaloo toilet.
Cheap simple fun. Ample parking and it has a driving range as well as a 9 hole 3 par golf course.
Good driving range and really nice 9 hole par 3 great for beginners
Simple, easy to use and at a fair price. Does exactly what you want/need. (I have only used the range; I can't comment on the P+P).
Great location, the driving range is bright with well spaced bays, staff are very welcoming, a good project constantly improving
Nice and clean, easy to use, £4 for 60 balls, £5 - 100
Well laid out short course and quality driving range with the added advantage of having European Golf shop on the same site
Great fun good value. No dress code. Can hire clubs for 2 quid
Plenty of bays in the range and a great 9 hole par three course
Great driving range
Cheaper than all other ranges within distance
Cheap and cheerful used this course to introduce my friend to golf. The greens could be better
Great local 9 hole, and driving range.
Licoano is in love with this place ... luci... ti voglio tanto bene xx always reminds me of my little golfer.
A good site to enjoy golf
5th and 6th tee offs the bushes need trimming back please 8)
I'm a newbie to golf and this place was a sound introduction. Nothing to blow your mind here but a solid 4 star place
Good cheap golf range.
Great automated facility for the drving range but bring your own rubber tees
Good cheap driving range, mats are a little old though
Rather dated driving range but the golf course is decent but small
Easy access. Facilities are what you need. Always space
Great driving range to go to
Decent range, fairly cheap and nice staff
Cheap and cheerful driving range, with short par 3 course
Decent range but not best.. Up a hill, minimal tee heights. Not impressed
Great place to practice golf great value and excellent facilities
Very short 9 hole course. For the not very good golfer I had a blast
Good price and happy hour offers. 3 par course is good.
Great driving range, open late and well lit!
