Reviews of Queens Park Golf Course
L. L.
An amazing place to walk around or just to play golf, plenty of woodland to explore. The park looks amazing if you go in the early hours. If you time it right at the pond you'll see the local Heron.
d. c.
Quite a nice course - some interestingly contoured fairways and greens… course very dry and rock hard so ball bounces and rolls a long way. Good value for money!
P. F.
The course was in excellent condition. If you can put up with the dog walkers it's a good place to play golf.
My only criticism was the fact a member was very rude, but I guess there are people who think that they are better than you in all walks of life. So the man wearing the white trilby hat, don't go threatening other players who have paid money to play the course
R. A.
It’s a veryyyyyyy big park. Great for jogging, picnic or relaxing whilst enjoying nature
E. R.
Never played golf there, but visited many times just for a walk. It's a huge park. Nice play ground for kids, despite everything there requires a bit of renovation, with lots of parking spaces. Parking is free by the way
E. M.
Great place to dog walk; I can't comment on the golf. However, it's very popular and the greenkeepers are always working hard and have just added some wild flower beds - the daffodils and bluebells this year have been beautiful 😍
M. D.
They have taken almost every bench away, so if you're a lil frail you'll have no where to stop other than the pond which is slap bang in middle. Very disappointed in the council getting rid of benches.
K. B.
A lovely place to walk your dog round a challenging golf course and on a hot day, where better than a beautiful pond for your dog to drink a cool off. You can also sit in the bar area and watch the golfers tee off on hole one.
J. C.
Lovely morning walking the dog as I often do in Queen's Park. Beautiful and well kept golf course with a good amount of wild areas. Lots of dog poo bins and good signage and lines of sight to keep you safe from low flying golf balls!
K. G.
I'm a dog owner.
Every hot weekend this is the place to come and enjoy the park with very few people around.
J. E.
My kids love queens park, they can run about as much as they want, and we like to picnic here, then my kids go to the park after, really lovely, definitely worth going to. They have a cafe, toilets, big fields to play football etc, and if you take a 10 minute walk through the fields they have a big pond where you can feed the ducks.
R. B.
I'd probably give this a 3.5 - some challenging holes, a fun round can be enjoyed here for an excellent price of only £15 each (we started at 1315 on a late September Saturday). There was football on in the clubhouse and a selection of food/drink.
However, the course is combined with the park, on most holes we'd have to wait for some people to cross the fairway, as paths run across it. More often than not, these people were oblivious to the fact someone might be about to smash a golf ball at them as they just slowly ambled across. There's a putting green to practice but no driving range. Also not many golf carts (but they are free).
Basically, you get what you pay for here - great place for a cheap round, but don't expect the premium service of a private golf club.
H. L.
Stopped here for a hot chocolate today and the toilet on my lunch break! Lovely cafe and nice terrace outside overlooking the golf course. Prices were reasonable and the staff were friendly! Will be visiting again soon!
P. E.
For a public course it's a joy to play some fantastic holes greens was in excellent condition bunkers not so but all in all great value for money. In the reviews I read golfers complaining about dog walkers well the one's I came across we very pleasant and abide by the rules of keeping to the edge of the fairways and when they need to cross the made sure it was safe to do so .
D. W.
Went to the children's play area good place to take children then had a coffee and cold drink for a child
R. E.
Lovely course open to the public which is both good and bad. Great to see people using the shared space. Some folks needed to be warned however not to picnic where an average golfer like me might land it and hit them! One ball was a bit to close for comfort dispite warning call!
Overall I Liked it. Bit dry but for a public course one of the better ones so will return again.
I. r. Y. w.
A golf course on public space with a public right of way.
95% of golfers and public get along with this fine. The minority on BOTH sides need to take a good look at themselves.
Been walking my dog here for 5+ years and very rarely have any issues. Those that walk down the middle of a fairway when golfers are playing are plain rude, as are the ODD players who seem to forget they are not on some private members course (hence £30 a round).
Think like Bill & Ted
BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER

Although there gave been a few changes since last I played here I still consider QP to be a fine layout.
Considering the time of year the course was in reasonable condition. Yes the greens were a little uneven and a few if the tee boxes were in their winter positions but on the whole I thought it was pretty good, especially when you consider the fact that it is only £23 a round. The third, fourth and 5th have lost the back tees and in my opinion they are worse for it. I should imagine safety was an issue with 3 and 4 but for hole 5 I have no idea of the reasoning behind it. Shame. For those considering a round here be aware that the course is a prime recreation spot and dog walking zone for the general public. They seem to appear out if nowhere! If you hate waiting then maybe give a miss.
I. F.
Very nice venue which is for hire in a fantastic location. Staff very helpful in advising what you may require for your function 👍
M. G.
Very good course, some great holes definitely recommend a round.
O. O.
Great family and dog walking place
k. m.
This course could so easily be a fantastic golf course...some stunning beautiful holes. Unfortunately I can't help thinking someone is going to get seriously injured soon because the public walk all over the course without the slightest awareness of how dangerous it is. They don't look before walking across or the length of a fairway, we even waited whilst a lady walked straight out over a green with her dog...staggering. it's a crying shame!. The onus seems to be on the golfer to miss the public. If I were a billionaire I would buy it off Bournemouth Council and turn it into a top golf location.
G. B.
Great course, provides a challenge and good experience for slightly less experienced players. Friendly staff, players and dog walkers who were always polite and waited.
M. V.
Great doggy walking area. Springer spaniels have a great run exploring the woodland and pond after doing a circuit round. Lots to interest them but walkers through the woods need to be careful as roots become slippery in wet weather on slopey bits and can be a hazard. Car park near the children's adventure park and clubhouse could be better designed as during busy periods can be hazardous for dogs and children alike.
M. B.
Never played golf here, only gone for walks, but it's a lovely location and the course cafe sells some lovely lunch food
T. S.
Good golf course BUT I see litter, I see poor greens, dogs.... Fouling. They need more staff more security more gardeners more bins and all round a bit of a better place. Even I must admit the golf is splendid that feeling when you get 6 below par it just phenomenal and at this course especially the aesthetic (apart from the little, fouling, bad greens and just junk) is pure amazing. Sometimes I think that the course needs a little revamp some more golf buggies or maybe even a high quality cuisine establishment to finish a day of golf (preferably with a g&t ha ha)
R. C.
Today my daughter and I had visited Queens park, my daughter in a wheel chair, we were both very impressed with a gentleman from the golf club asking if we needed assistance to use the club, we were just walking past but his gesture was very much appreciated, a very kind and thoughtful man, Thank you
R. Y.
A well maintained and presented golf course with and range of times and group sizes. Is used by a range of players but is a welcoming club. The parking is on site and has a cafe / bar. Changing facilities on sites could do you an upgrade, but is clean and tidy.
S. L.
Great for walking the dog through the wooded areas. Don't let them go in the pond or drink the water though, it made my dog very ill.
There is a children's play area and the clubhouse to by drinks and food. Dogs are not allowed inside though.
C. K.
Great place to walk your dog. Only problem is with some of the golfers can be very unfriendly and think they own the world, but bad ones aside most share well but please if you walk your dog and it messes clear it up, as it's not just golfers at risk it's the children that frequent there as well.
V. D.
I had a nice walk in this Park. But you have to be careful when people play golf, walk as far as you can from them so you won't get hurt.
E. B.
The golf course is playing very well at the moment and today was a lovely day. Queen's Park is ideal for dog walkers, joggers as well as golfers but be careful of flying golf balls. Concentrate on your walk and don't have music in your ears or on the phone that you aren't concentrating on where you are going. Dog walkers don't forget to pick up after your dogs and rake the bunkers is they go in the sand. Thank you.
C. B.
Great place for dog walking, jogging and rambling with the family but please respect the fact that it is a golf course and keep pets and kids off of the greens and out of the bunkers and hopefully everybody can enjoy it equally
J. ..
Beautiful golf course that has been incorperated inside a public park. Be careful of dog walkers and sometimes picknickers when playing but the scenery is beatifully undulating in amoungst mature and young trees.
A wonderful atmosphere surrounds the clubhouse where food and drink is served with a smile and greeting.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful is all i can say
B. J.
I like to walk my dogs at Queens Park Golf Course, where the land was left originally for walkers to enjoy. Generally coexist with golfers quite well with a bit of give or take on both sides. However some golfers appear not to know that walkers have priority, and all should have public liability insurance.
M. G.
I don’t play golf I think I should mention this up front.
However, to me this was a park that happens to have some 18 holes and 18 flags.
I found the holes challenging personally. Some were long for a new player.
The food in the club house was good and the selection of alcoholic drinks good too.
Staff on site were friendly.
M. S.
As a public place it is excellent. Kept immaculately tidy, litter does not exist. There are areas attached comprising childrens' play area, picnic areas and walks. A club house open to the public which is comfortable and well stocked. I could ask for nothing more (I must check if they do fried breakfasts)
T. C.
Good layout and challenge for a public course. Fairways were not great though and loads of dog walkers out on the course on a Sunday afternoon.
s. H.
What we could see looked a well kept Green. There was actually a Golf Tournament taking place. Around the outskirts enjoyable walk with our Border Collie. Didnt see many dog bins though.
D. S.
A great course with some challenging holes. I hope you don't have a fade in your drive because you'll need a few extra balls.
L. T.
A really understated course. Quite challenging in places. Well kept with nice café. Real shame about dog walkers. Most are sensible and respect the course but some are a real ignorant pain, they make for good targets tho. 👍
H. W.
A lovely place kept clean with playground for little ones to have fun in. Cafe for drinks and toilets if you get caught out. (Saves crossing legs) I go here daily with my dog as do many others.
t. G.
Great course, staff and atmosphere. Most challenging course for the money. Pleased to be a member here..
A. K.
Played here quite a few times over the years, staff always very welcoming n friendly, course great for beginners or good golfers, not to taxing, fews challenging holes, but overall very good, well worth a visit
E. W.
As has been said before, the course would be great but we were scared to hit a ball due to the constant worry of dog walkers appearing out of nowhere, not bothering to look and check down the fairway. We understand that the public have right of way but a little common sense is in order. One rude, ignorant woman picked up my partners ball and threw it at him. When reminded that balls should be left alone we were met with a barrage of abuse. Totally unacceptable. Dogs running round the greens isn't ideal and children are in serious danger of being hit by wayward balls. In my opinion what could have been a nice game on a pleasant day was far too stressful.
S. C.
Lovely park, very chilled.
J. D.
Visited for quick lunch. Beautiful surroundings with apparently plenty of room for walkers. The building is currently undergoing some updates. Staff were nice and bacon sandwich good!
P. L.
Great golf course just coming out of hibernation. Some greens suffering with bare patches, but on the whole good condition. No major issue with dogs and dog walkers.
E.
Very enjoyable for a walk especially with a dog and can provide fun solo or as a family
G. J.
Refurbished Club House is very good. Shame the council don't plough more funds into the course. Unfortunately the course is compromised by overgrown trees and shrubs. Plus the council would rather leave it to dog walkers, cyclists and joggers to ruin what was once a fantastic championship course.
S. E.
Society deal was a very good price with full English breakfast before and chips and sandwiches after. The greens with good, being giving, but the fairways were very hard and unforgiving, punishing good drives with bad bounces. Even preferred lies didn't make up for that.
M. J.
Beautiful setting for a walk. Noisy though - adjacent to a major A road
A. M.
Good location and ideal for walks and fresh air. Not counting when you get a chance to play golf of course
A. N.
Played on Sunday and had our ball picked up twice, once by a dog and once by a little boy.... Nice course but too many dog walkers and kids on bikes on a weekend.
P. R.
A lovely golf course with friendly staff. Also good for walking your dog with lots of woodland walks between golf holes.
B. S.
A very clean park/golf course, a family friendly area with lots of dog walkers in the evening. A lovely place for a walk.
O. M.
Large green with different terrains to really test your golf skills. It is also a good place to walk dogs. Café and park nearby
B. R.
I dont play Golf hence the 3 stars! But a beautiful place to walk & explore. Has a wildlife pond & lots of hilly bits to get you fit!
S. 7.
Great golf course although walkers don't quite understand they may be in range when stood on the edge of a green with their dog!
r. a.
Spent some time enjoying the refreshments on offer by the 19th hole whilst the grandchildren played in the park very pleasant
C. “. M.
Beware golf balls! Popular with local celebs - you may spot Mel Machin, Harry Redknapp, Ali Campbell, Tony Pulis, Jamie Redknapp, Fat Frank (Lampard) or Eddie Howe ruining what would be a lovely walk if they didn't have their golf bats with them.
S. A. B.
Great place for a stroll as long as you keep in mind the inconvenience of whizzing golf balls and muddy dog paws.
O' look that's poetically pompous! Ha ha ha!
A. K.
There are not many towns that I know of that have a top class golf course virtually in the centre of the town. Not only a first class golf course but a reasonably priced one as well.
P. L.
Testing! Iron play and accuracy is required. Drivers can cost many shots if you're not up the middle.
J.
Great golf course, good for dog walking also.
L. W.
Nice course. Great for walking the dogs around! Staff do the best they can to keep it in great condition.
M. G.
Great place to walk the dogs during lockdown. No dodging the golf balls.
P. M.
Lovely park for walking and for golf. Would benefit from more public seating & with more dog waste bins, the latter sadly lacking in recent years.
s. s.
Great place for a game of golf or just a pleasant walk. Friendly staff, always helpful.
T. B.
Good municipal golf course, well worth a round or two.
T. R.
Lovely space. Public right of way. Good dog walks or for just (not ruining) a good walk! Good for hill running too.
W. P.
What a lovely place to stroll. Have only ever come across a couple of grumpy golfers. Everyone else is so lovely. Thoroughly recommend!
C. R.
Great for walking the dogs. Try to stay to the fairways if you can it really annoys the golfers!
a.
Course was ok and good value. Downside too many inconsiderate dog walkers. Price you pay for being a public park.
M. H.
Great staff lovely service
A.
Great place to sit walk your dog and the pond is a great place to sit eat.
J. H.
Lovely Course & Nice Staff. I generally play a few times a week and can quite easily say that this is one of my favourite courses.
R. F.
Nice for walks, made easier with the course closed to golfers
D. S.
Don't know about the golf course or the cafe, but the wooden play park is really good. It's one of the children's favourites.
D. W.
Have not played golf but its great for dog walkers, also has large play area for children, a cafe/bar toilets and free parking..
D. S.
Great place for dog walking, lots of open area, and forested areas too. Free parking available as well
T. C.
Great shared space for walkers and golfers which requires just consideration to appreciate the stunning scenery and heron spotting on the pond!
M.
The wooden play area for kids is excellent , well worth making the journey to , if you're not within walking distance already
K. C.
It's a good course but too many inconsiderate dog walkers, although to be fair 90% of them were pretty respectful as usual it's the few who spoil it for the many
D. S.
It's all about the duck pond and checking on their health and well being. The ducks and morehens are so adorable.
C. R.
Public golf course lovely green open space has also playpark on site golf shop and cafe

Whats not to like about a walk in the park, a few snotty golfers but generally very good
R. H.
One of the best municipal courses you will ever play. A real test of golf off the back tees.
R. C.
Lovely place for dogs, kids, play etc....shame about the strange people walking about bashing their tiny balls with long shiny sticks.
E. C.
Such a beautiful place to go! Nature atmosphere and great photos to take.
L. A.
Great paly park for the kids. Bar area is a little small and run down
m. t.

C. R.

Beautiful scenic golf course but it is a bit pricey
J. M.
Simple outstanding place with lush green meadows and serene environment. Really a place to get lost and find oneself.

Great course and very reasonably priced. It's a shame about having the public walking across the fairways.
R. M.
