Visited here on a one night b&b 2 rounds of golf. Staff were excellent, room spacious and comfortable, breakfast enormous. Played the Stanahan course on the first day, it was ok, and I'm sure would have been improved if we hadn't been following a society playing a Texas Scramble, not sure I'd rush back to play that one. Day 2 played the Codrington and started on the 10th to get ahead of a senior's club match. Really enjoyed the course which was in good fettle (my only one piece of constructive criticism would be that hole to hole signage for visitors could be better) a minor point, just over three hours for a two ball and back to the well appointed bar for a beer. Very enjoyable couple of days

Stayed here on business for three nights. The room was clean & tidy. Shower was good and had sky tv. Could do with a small desk in the room I had as I use a laptop. The wardrobe only had one hanger which was a bit odd. The big breakfast was fabulous though the Caddy Shack where you eat it doesn’t open until 8am. The bar is good with a large TV.

Great round of golf, the course had obviously experienced alot of rain over the past week but other than a few wet areas the fairways were good and the greens excellent. £50 a round and worth it, I hired an electric trolley and it was worth it. Nice pint after looking over the 18th. Recommended.

Rooms were very clean, but basic and walls very very thin, listening to everyone else on their phones and chattering in their rooms was not our idea of a restful room. Right next to green which was sprayed in the middle of the night with water which hit our window every time it went round. Also 7.00am sunday morning is not our idea of a restful time to be woken by golfers outside the door.

Had a great day playing both courses. We enjoyed our lunch, and the staff went out of their way to help. I'll definitely be returning. The Codrington is quite a special course, in fantastic condition despite the weather.

Amazing course with a clubhouse to back it up. The course is set up with some challenging holes, ones where you can attack and ones where you must defend! The clubhouse was undergoing some work whilst we were there and I’m sure by now it is looking as good as the rest.

Played the Codrington today on a nice warm sunny afternoon. It’s a proper test of golf! A great course which I will visit again. But .. the things that prevented me giving a 5 star experience was the food which was thrown together with no thought on presentation and the use of dirt cheap ingredients was obvious. Yuk! Every flag, without exception, were all leaning heavily which was a pity because I actually like to leave the flag in like a lot of people these days. And the leaning flag syndrome was purely because the hole that the shaft of the flag sits in was silted up so this is a lazy green keeper issue that doesn’t represent the £60 green fee very well. But other than that it’s worth knock.

A busy club. Welcoming atmosphere with a brand new upstairs bar and viewing area. A large grass range and 2 courses to choose from. The pro shop stocks the major brands. Photos taken on a fairly wet day.

Played the Stranahan course in a friendly match. Only pair to record a victory 2 up helped by the opposition playing poorly on several holes.

A little disappointed with my first experience at The Players on the Codrington course. With it being December golf I called ahead to understand the course conditions and was assured other than some soggy patches there was nothing to report in terms of temp greens etc. However, I played to find many of the fairways with signs preventing shots unless played from the rough or a mat and one of the par 3 tee boxes undergoing work which also meant a range mat as a tee box. Not totally disheartening but disappointed not to have been informed despite specifically asking. It’s a shame, it looks like a lovely golf club, maybe one i’ll only return to in the warmer months.

Had a quick round of the par 3 Water Garden course after staying over for the night. It is a wonderful course, well maintained and lots of challenging holes, many over lakes. Leigh at the Proshop was fantastic, offering us some tips on the course guide and kit. Would love to return to play the main 18 hole courses one day.

Sadly greens were very slow which is unlike the Players Club. Course was also much wetter than expected as we haven't had much rain lately. On the plus side, the breakfast meal was superb.

Lovely golf club just outside Bristol. Two 18 hole courses plus a par 3 short course over lots of water. The main championship course is long (especially off the medal tees) with some interesting holes and large, slick, undulating greens. The shorter 18 hole course is also worth a knock and is in the same superb condition. Well stocked pro shop and a large grassed driving range available. Clubhouse is welcoming and reasonable with a veranda overlooking the 18th green.

Had a great game at the players. The Pro Shop were really helpful. I left my 9 iron on the course and phoned Paul who kindly boxed it up and sent it back to me in London, no fuss, no trouble excellent stuff.

Played on a really hot day in June Excellent greens, other areas a bit mixed. Maybe still the bare bits on fairways from last winter. But a super layout with great mix of holes. Par 3s are all good and great use of water.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Bristol players. The Coddington course was in excellent condition and looked a picture. Accommodation at Canons court news was a 30 minute drive away, but clean and functional. Breakfast, bar meals and drinks at the club were all good. Recommended.

Clean room with good basic facilities. Pleasant setting as car parks go. Good VFM for a stopover to break up a long journey. One star taken off for failure to provide a bedsheet on the double bed! Just the nylon mattress protector so as it was very hot just slept on the duvet. One star added for the fantastic breakfast. So **** overall for this price bracket.

I've been a member of The Players for five years. Very friendly members, lots of medals and competitions, fantastic new bar with terrace over looking the 18th green. There are three courses, practice areas and putting greens. You get a lot of club for your money here. Coaching pro's are excellent.

For £20 in the evenings the stranahan is an alright course. Always been quiet when I've been there and they've got a nice bar for afterwards. Can't knock it for value.

Stayed at The players golf club for one night, the room is lovely clean, quiet and new. Only thing annoying was the blinking light from the fire alarm, and the small gap of the window letting light in. But I would still stay here again, because they're dog friendly and it's lovely to open your door and see green grass👌
