Played Thornbury with a society, on arrival we had a bacon and sausage roll with coffee waiting for us, very good. We then played the par 3 short course in the morning for a bit of fun/warm up. Good little course to practice the short game and putting. We had lunch of sandwiches and chips which were ok but a tad dry. Played the main 18 hole course in the afternoon, nice course, well developed with decent and challenging greens and features. The long rough was a ball eater and likely you would not see it again. The round was a touch slow due to another large group in front but overall a great days golf. Dinner was good, some might say not enough but I thought it was adequate and tasty. Golf staff and Bar/kitchen staff were excellent. Will certainly be visiting again in the near future.

Very friendly and welcoming to someone returning to the game after years off. Not stuffy at all, relaxed attitude to dress code however both courses in immaculate condition, especially the greens! Highly recommend the severn view par 3 course, greens are in just as good nick as the main course and it's perfect for brushing up on your short game.

Lovely stay in Thornbury Lodge which was set within its own grounds away from the main club. The bedroom decor and furnishings were of a good quality. The room itself was large and spacious with a superking bed which was super comfy and a wardrobe with plenty of hangers. The bathroom was beautifully tiled with quality fittings. Only minor point was the loo seat was yellowing which let it down. The Lodge was warm and quiet too. The restaurant at the clubhouse was excellent. The staff, service and food were spot on and not overly priced so we had our breakfasts and one lunch there. Would have happily eaten there more often but we were going off site as we were in the area for a wedding. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Been visiting the range and the Par 3 a lot recently. Range is more than adequate for getting the practice in. Par 3 course is fantastically maintained and a really well thought out, enjoyable course to play. Yet to step up to the “big boy” course… yet! But give it time!

Great courses for a poor player like me. The fairways are forgiving whilst the course presents enough hazards and challenges to force you to keep focusing and improving. Golf is challenging and thus course tests you whilst being enjoyable.

Not a golf review. The conferencing facilities are very average. Staff are not particularly welcoming to corporate guests. Great parking and a lovely view from the bar.

Staff friendly and helpful as always. We play here quite often as it’s a decent course for the money. However, our most recent visit left us very disappointed. Whilst I appreciate the weather has been fairly extreme recently, the course has not stood up to it at all well. Every green had massive patches of scorched ground devoid of any grass at all then areas of lush green grass that had not been cut for a while. I can only guess that the watering system must be missing parts of the green. To make things worse, the greens have also been hollow tined making already bumpy and inconsistent greens extremely difficult to pick a line and pace on. I understand that the weather conditions over the past few months have been very hard on golf courses, but the 4 other local courses we have played in the last couple of weeks (including Woodlands) have managed to keep the greens in much better condition. On top of this, arriving at the 7th tee, we were greeted with what you could only imagine the scene of the lunar landing looked like. The yellow tee pad (that was behind the white?) was totally unplayable with not a blade of grass or flat patch to be found. Why not GUR it and move the yellow to the back of the red pad or the unused pad behind the reds? This may all seem harsh but we left feeling very disappointed by a course we play quite often and always enjoy. There may be a situation that is out of the clubs control that patrons are not aware of but there can be no excuse for things like the 7th tee. We will be back because as mentioned we normally enjoy the course but not until it has had time to recover.

Just wanted to drop you a line to say ‘thank you’ for organising my son’s 8th birthday party! He had a wonderful time with Nathan, the coach, and he was professional and fun with the kids (who were beyond excited!!). The buffet was delicious and it was nice to see quality food with vegetables - not just beige! The staff couldn’t have done more to help us, we were greeted the minute we arrived and nothing was too much trouble.

Amazing wedding venue, the food was plentiful, hot and well presented too, I would recommend this venue for a wedding. Wedding planner is friendly and helpful, grounds immaculate and we were there day after heavy snowful so pleased drive was cleared and everyone could attend.

We visited for the Team GB try out a new sport day and it was fantastic. Really well organised. The golf coaches there were really encouraging and we had a wonderful time. Would highly recommend. Great facilities and also a good venue for weddings and events too.

Both courses generally really well maintained and offer difficulty levels for beginners and more experienced golfers. Some building works happening on the short course at the moment but this is to be expected during the winter months. Clubhouse has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere and serves good quality food and drink at reasonable prices.

Eight of us from Gloucester Golf Club played Thornbury golf club today, got a good deal. From the start very Professional Sophie who was very friendly gave us our welcome pack told us all what was going on. Coffee bacon baps on arrival all very nice, we all enjoyed are game of golf. The greens had been prepared for Winter so we all know what they can be like, but not a problem still a great time. The meal afterwards was lovely just what we needed. With the welcome pack we got a deal which we would like to take up

Me and my husband got married here in September 2021. After viewing the venue for the first time we knew we had found our perfect place along side the fantastic deal they was offering. The service on the day was absolutely fantastic. Our whole day from start to finish was exactly how we wanted it to go and better! Nicola and Natalie went above and beyond to make sure it was perfect even when we had to change our date due to covid restrictions, nothing was to much trouble. Friendly and helpful staff even when it's the busy period at the weekend. The driving range leaves a little to be desired and improvements could be made though on the other hand a it is very reasonable price. The grounds are stunning and very well maintained on the par 5 course and have been highly recommended though my last visit too the 3 par was a little disappointing as usually is also very well kept, but again a very reasonable price and has only been the once it hasnt. All in all a fantastic venue to play and will be returning too play again very soon.

Really enjoyed the Marlwood course, which was in good condition for the time of year. Started at 2pm and cost was £15, so excellent value. The 17th was a really good challenge- a tee shot to contemplate! Look forward to playing again.

Two good courses set in lovely grounds with some fabulous views. Whatever your standard there is something here to test your skill or coach you to improve. It also has one of the better on site shops. Selling everything from beginning the sport to catering for a pro. The driving range could do with updating with auto loading, distance lines and targets. The restaurant is a good setting with very good food at fair prices. Staff and service is everything you would expect. Beginner and younger players are welcomed. Tag this all onto the fact it's set just above a pretty market town making it a great location for golf weekends, it's going to be hard to beat as a destination for golf. Well done to the team at Thornbury golf course.

I cannot praise highly enough the professionalism of the office staff, the quality of the main course presented to us by the Greens Staff and the brilliant attitude of the bar & catering staff. It was an absolute pleasure in every respect and I recommend Thornbury very highly to all Society Organisers.

Really nice course, not the most challenging, wide forgiving fairways on most holes. However, it’s the slowest place to play, you get four ball’s dawdling along, having chat, marking their cards on the greens etc and no offers to play through EVER. It’s a real issue here I’ve never experienced anything like it anywhere else I’ve played and becomes frustrating the more you play here.

The course is well kept and ideal for low skill players like me. There are some interesting holes especially the 17th with a narrow fairway and water on both sides! The club house is modern and the staff and members friendly. The food is pretty good compared to most other clubs I've been to. Nice shop as well and a driving range. Just to complete the picture there is a very picturesque par 3 not fantastically challenging but great for beginners.

Played the "L ow Course" (Par 3). £16 for 18 holes isn't to bad. Thought the greens could do with some work though. Very bumpy and didn't really look kept up to the standard of the "High Course".

Only went to club house for a function, but sitting in the upstairs function room you are able to see some wonderful and pleasant views. The function it self was most enjoyable as we were looked after by a crew of friendly and cheerful staff. The luncheon that they served us can only be give a 10 out of 10. I think the hosts of the function should be proud and pleased with their day and choice of venue. Well Done to all concerned.

Had a lesson here and the instructor was very professional and very helpful. Only cost 25 quid for half an hour and learnt a lot of useful tips in that short time.its a shame the mats are quiet old so you have to manually put the tees under the mats which is a annoying but oh well!

Nice place to visit and you don't need to be a member... I occasionally go there to use the putting green... There is a good sized restaurant /bar, a driving range and par 3 course as well as the main golf course... It is suitable for a small wedding reception and within walking distance of an average sized town with Castle, Park, shops, restaurants etc

We held our Golden Wedding Anniversary Party here. Everything was excellent from the booking to the completion of our party. The food was superb and the staff contributed to our special dinner. Especially Paul, Louise, Will, Chloe and Hinnah. To the chefs, Mark and Paul, and Steve the DJ, a job well done. With two fantastic courses, Thornbury Golf Centre caters for all class of golfers. The par 3 course overlooks the Severn valley and is a joy to play, regardless of the weather! A well stocked golf shop, bar and restaurant makes it an ideal location for a round of golf.

Afternoon green fees are reasonably priced but if you want to tee off before midday then you pay for the privilege. The course is fairly flat and open, the back 9 are marginally more interesting. Although I'm a higher handicapper there are courses within a 30 minute drive of Thornbury which offer better variety. However Thornbury rarely if ever play of temporary greens and it has a good prace green and driving range (which is also overpriced).

Folk may not realise that Thornbury Golf Club is also a hotel venue; especially useful for a 1/2 night stay. The lodge is a lovely georgian house with large, well appointed en-suite rooms. Because many friends do go to play golf, the rooms are twin-bedded. Visitors are able to access the Club bar/restaurent. Food is as you wld expect, simple but well-cooked & flavoursome. This facility, being tied to the golf club, does close fairly early (10pm when I stayed) but the staff are friendly & very helpful re local places of interest. And because many members play early in the morning, breakfast is also served. This is a really useful base from which to explore the surrounding area & once you're up the driveway, you wouldn't believe you were by a main road, so peaceful as it is in the midst of the golf course - which you may book play on too!

My 50th birthday party took place in the upstairs room, which looked fantastic with small lights placed in the beams of the ceiling and tables covered in white tablecloths. All the staff from booking to the event itself were professional, efficient, helpful and friendly, which resulted in a fantastic evening.

Without exception all members attending praised both the quality of the meal and the excellent service received from the staff!
