Reviews of Braid Hills Golf Centre
B. M.
We visit the cafe fairly often. Good and reasonably priced food, cakes and hot drinks. Very pleasant staff. Nice and bright, with big windows looking out over the range to the hills beyond. Really lovely walks around here, so a good place to refuel, warm up. You can always find a parking place, and there is a bike stand for when we cycle there.

It’s a golf range. Does what it says on the tin. Cafe is better than average for a golf range. Well stocked pro shop. Grab a coffee and cake and aim for a target with a bucket of balls. Nice little 9 hole course next door.

Great to place visit for all the family - the nature and fresh are brought me and my family here.
Mountain trails and lot of pathways for a walk with family or jogging.
We enjoy the golf attractions and beautiful views on Town too

Had a partner lesson here as two beginners and it was just perfect! Our instructor was an ex-pro with over 20 years of teaching experience and extremely friendly, helped us pick up the basics very fast and all that for just £35 per person per hour?!
Since then I came back to practice at the driving range a couple of times on my own and borrowing clubs and purchasing balls is as easy as it can get. Staff is quick and helpful to get you what you need.
Again, this is a beginner speaking, but the driving range itself and the bays seem great. The range has lots of flags and marked distances as well as seasonal signs to aim for (Happy Halloween!). The layout of the mostly roofed bays allows you to aim for a nice variety of targets, the grass mats are in great condition and each allow you to add tees in three different heights, available at the bays. The premium bays we had the lesson at also have mirrors on the sides.
Other than that there's a great looking shop, a café, the parking lot always had plenty of space and the facilities have been pleasant and clean. Don't know what more to ask for in a club and I'm looking forward to advancing to the Golf Course!
R. M.
This is a brilliant driving range with a large amount of bays and reasonably priced!

Good value haircuts, and never rushed. Especially all the typical attention to detail ie. eyebrows, hair around the ears, and for a small fee, hair out the nose by wax. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
B. M.
Rather cold yesterday but the golf range is a great help to improve your golf swing, just a pity it doesn't have a more modern experience.
N. M.
as a beginner i like visiting the driving range to practice my swing. with 42 bays available i do not have to worry about waiting queues. the stuff are polite, the landscape tranquil and the prices are very good. highly recommended, whether for consistent practicing or for an alternative activity.

Best season to play at wee braids is around May when gorse flowers are in full blossom . The driving range is very popular all year round.
D. S.
Good range, nice set-up with shop and cafe.
M. M.
Helpful. Knowledgeable people. Good range of equipment. Good facilities.
J. B.
Decent. They have a very strict no bags policy (?) which is very unhelpful if you don't have the luxury of a car to get there, or want to practice before/after 9 holes at the wee braids. The place is clean and fine in general but the cafe and balls (average quality) are a bit pricey (food is ok though), the mats are hard, and they only ever have 1 or 2 tee options at best , also the floodlights are pretty dim (rather unplayable after 430 in the winter). Nearest place around though, so can't complain too much. And having American Golf there is useful.
(Added 1 extra star after having a very good experience with them and their club repair service)

Really enjoyed my first golf lesson at the Braid Hills Golf Centre ! Now I just need to go back to the driving range and practice.
The cafe is good too
N. G.
Had an excellent experience at the driving range. The facilities were tidy and maintained.
Due to the poor weather, I only managed to hit about 50/100 balls, but the staff issued me a ticket to redeem the other 50 another time, great service!
The only criticism I have is that no golf bags are allowed in the range, which seemed unreasonable as I had plenty of room for my bag in the stall, but this wasn't a major issue.
R. M.
Really great place with different options depending on what you’re wanting to do. The shop is great too. Cafe needs work.
E. R.
An expensive half an hour's range entertainment. Good enough range
a. b.
Black pudding rolls quality so filling ones enough
K. H.
Great golf centre and shop. Great courses nearby.

Went sledging there not golfing but it was awesome. There was a few dog poo bags some full and some empty lying around which is a shame. It'd be nice if dog owners could all be more careful. But it's the same all around parks in Edinburgh which is quite frustrating when you go with your kids.
W. C.
Just popped in here today for lunch, the food was delicious, the service was quick and staff were very polite. Very enjoyable
R. Y.
Excellent driving range with a nice little cafe attached. The prices aren't too bad and if you are planning on coming multiple times, getting the card makes the prices great ( up to 25% discount). There's also a golf shop which is handy.
J. T.
The braids is a great course .I've played it for thirty years and love it.
Dog walkers on the other hand are a real problem especially if the dogs are not on a leash. On more than one occasion dogs have picked up my ball or my playing partners and either chewed it or ran off with it .Not all dog owners are to blame i would say it's the minority that cause the problem.
The greenkeepers are all very friendly and professional and the starters are Realy good at keeping everyone to there tee off times.

Bought my first new set of clubs in 25 years. Gregor was very helpful, providing demo clubs (which I'd tried a couple of times previously), then taking me through custom fitting (handily, he'd had a cancellation!). Some useful tips thrown in around putting and what golf balls I should use (not the first one that came to hand in my bag!). Now to get playing again....
A. W.
They give you golf balls and you hit them. Perfect. Sometimes there has been a queue in the evening to get a bay, with a 20 minute wait. The team are following covid rules well.
R. N.
Being going here along and love it so many stuff to do and great place to golf and for beginners
W. F.
Fewer people there. Easy walk when golfing isn’t available
D. G.
Went to the range 100 balls for £8, solid selection of rental clubs for 50p per club.
Plenty of bays with cover and some overflow outside.
Little bit steep for the ball price but great otherwise.
L. M.
Friendly staff, spacious bays with good mats. Nice eating area.
C. T.
Lots of bays, no queues, great service, and a good café!
P. L.
It's wat it says on the box its a driving range in good state and a nice coffee shop
V. D.
An efficient golf driving range but the stalls were a bit restrictive.
J. W.
Took my grandson . Midterm treat
Hit some balls , then had a delicious lunch .Great morning out .
S. C.
Friendly staff and good quality range balls. Like most ranges here they don't allow bags on the range which I am not used to. Think about which clubs you'll need before you carry them in loose!
I.
Nice facility. Bays a bit close together no automatic tees and toilets minging at 9am.
j. r.

A. G.

S. D.
Good driving range with plenty of bays. Also has a nice cafe with a good choice of food and drinks. Also has an American golf shop with plenty of golf clubs, accessories and clothing
G. G.
We have been attending the kids golf lessons. The instructors are fab. Definitely recommended! Nice coffee shop too
C. F.
Great place full of great range of product and knowledge. The driving range is great and fairly modern. Could do with matting for other clubs to rest on when using another club

Platinum Edinburgh Tripadviser Experience! Cannot recommend anywhere as much as Braids Hills Golf Centre! Firstly, I declare an interest the owners are old friends: Ian and Marie Young. That said, i've not been there in donkies until last last week, the place is brilliant from golfing fanatics, a first date connection (guys/women will love this place) proper family engagement or just somewhere to hang out, I had a game of crazy golf the other day which cost a tenner at Fountainpark, apart from the odd Tyrannosaurus found pretty expensive rather than the real thing. Golf is a magical clean drug that forgers a lifelong connection! I'd urge all to give Braids Hill Golf Centre a visit as Youngie the owner took to the realm of growing the game before even the great Paul Lawrie and Stephen Gallacher but matched their golfing talent as a young professional too - he was bloody good - European Tour Pro, Scottish PGA champ, Scottish Matchplay Champ, top Amateur and kicked Andrew Oldcorn's butt every time they met at matchplay - which game me particular pleasure! Marie is a culinary expert, gifted human being and a kind soul. They are a great team and some of the finest talent at Braids Hill Golf Centre are there too Colin Brooks, Sandy Stephen, Paul McKechnie - Look them up on Google? (They are best in class - apologies guys if I make you sound like Red Setters!) see what they've achieved in the game. Even if you hate golf it is a cracking day out for a nosey, cake and a coffee! Don't take my word it is just up the road and the most magnificent vantage points of Edinburgh! Selfie Paradise!
