Reviews of The Hole In Wand

Such a great unique experience! Definitely a must for any Harry Potter fan visiting York! Lots of great added value such as the photo wall, and potion drinks! Story telling is amazing and the mini golf is very good and actually quite hard on some holes. Would definitely return.
D. M.
Brilliant experience for us today! It took about 45 minutes to work our way around and it wasn't too busy. The course is well thought out and there are extra bits and bobs to do as well as playing golf. It didn't matter that some holes were hard as it was all part of the fun. I think for the price point it's good value for money.
A.
Definitely aimed more at children, but it's fun for all ages. Only nine holes of mini golf so it only takes around an hour to complete, lots of puzzles and interactive bits for children to interact with.
Some of the holes are fairly difficult, although I'm terrible at golf so it might be easier than I think.
At the end you get a drink which the flavour depends on the score. As I did badly I got the cream soda flavour which works well for me as I love it.
There is a small bar area also, where you can have mocktails and cocktails which taste great.

We thoroughly enjoyed this activity in York yesterday. The building is beautiful and the staff were so enthusiastic and helpful! The kids enjoyed everything from chosing their own golf clubs at the beginning, to choosing their slice of cake at the end. They LOVED winning potion drinks at the end too. Everything was just magical. Well worth the money in our opinion.
The only thing I would comment on is that we were a group of 5 and we seemed to be holding up numerous groups of 2s who obviously weren't completing other parts of the booklet (for example, finding the hidden letters or reading the riddles). The building is quite cramped so you do feel pressured into hurrying up for groups behind you - however, we had paid to be there, so we carried on at a normal pace.

What a fantastic experience at The Hole in Wand York. A group of us were currently on holiday for a week away in Yorkshire and we were looking for activities to do to round off the trip. The Hole In Wand mini golf was a great end to an evening after going to the Jorvik Centre being fun and inexpensive.
The staff members who got us set up were really added to the enjoyment of the mini golf. The 9 hole golf course took the 5 of us about an hour to complete, which is pretty good going given the number of 7 on pars our team got! Be aware, the holes are quite tricky, but excellently themed, really good fun with mates (we were in hysterics at points, and probably taking far too long to finish each hole, much to the dissatisfaction of the family behind us!) and I think this is a must-see attraction for a day out in York.
Lovely gift shop at the end with a great selection of soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, snacks and mementos. One of the lovely staff members highlighted that one of our party members scored the highest putt-count of the day, and we have been taking the mick out of him ever since! We will be recommending this one to any family & friends that visit. Brilliant!

So fun & really good value. Staff were brilliant.
Only downside a big group taking ages that held everyone else up so was getting a bit packed in - wear a mask!!
Very enjoyable though!
E. H.
Honestly this is such a fun experience, make sure you book it as its always busy and honestly i suggest only going in small groups, otherwise any people waiting behind you are left waiting for a long time for you all to take turns.
Each hole is fun to look at and explore, all different themes with riddles along the way.
Downside is if you're in a wheel chair or have difficulties walking it's all upstairs and you may or will struggle to get up.
You can win prizes at the end, complimentary drinks that are made by potions cauldron which are tasty, there's a little cafe area and shop to get extra treats and the staff are always high spirited and friendly.
Perfect place for a date, day out with friends or to take the kids.
A must visit for York!

A fabulous hour or so spent in here today! The staff were amazing and friendly. The minature golf course was fabulously decorated, the grown ups and kids loved it! Definitely a place to visit if you're a Potter fan! Love our drinks we got at the end for our prize and the Jelly beans for kids and Gin for grown ups was lovely. We'll definitely be back! Thank you!
E. W.
Really nice , warm and welcoming staff. Really helpful and were totally in character. Loved being asked to hold something to see if i was a wizard. Yes I was. We had pur photo talen with broomsticks and signs. You can take pictures around every hole. Nice way to spend 20 minutes. At end we gave in scores and got our winning potions. We then bought our photo at the end. Kids would love it here as well.#Harry Potter

A fantastic concept and lovely layout and ideas throughout.
We had really great fun playing and looking for clues around the venue but unfortunately it was packed!
We were a group of 4 but behind a group of 6 we had to wait a lot of the time, but there isnt really anywhere to wait so you constantly feel like you're in somebody's way.
May just need staggering a bit more but we seemed to spend more time waiting than playing. That being said it was a lot of fun and well thought out.
L. R.
Would definitely recommend fun to do and added bonus of the drinks at the end we went for the couples package with poison gift box definitely worth it.
I would say its more for older kids though as some holes are hard lol
S. S.
We came to York a few months ago and saw this place, but didn’t have time to visit. Booked for the next time we came and me and the fiancé had a great time. Only nine holes, so not the longest of attractions, but kids who are fans of Harry Potter are certain to enjoy.
Each hole is different and very well decorated, and the couples ticket gets you the potions and poison set that I’m sure will go down a treat!
I would suggest visiting during the week if possible (we visited on a Friday morning and there were only a few others there) as when we walked past on Saturday it was really busy.
Great for wizards and muggles alike!
K. H.
This place is so immersive and perfectly themed to suit the Harry Potter esthetic. The prices are incredible! The bar is so cheap and have a magical range of alcoholic and none alcoholic drinks.
S. W.
Had a really fun time. Staff friendly and explained everything clearly. Course is really well designed. Some of the holes are a bit tricky especially for little ones. Took about an hour in total for 2 adults & 2 children to play. Toilets and cafe available.
F. W.
Fun and different course, highly recommend the group for 4 ticket. £11 each to do the whole course, and comes with 2 free drinks and free piece of cake/snack/popcorn each. Brilliant value. The drinks look magical!
L. M.
Very busy and difficult.
Pre booking is essential!
We started to que at 20 past 10 for our 1030 booking and got in the building just after 1030am. Outside you are given a scorecard and a pen.
Once inside you are given a "wand" (golf club) and a ball.
You will have your photograph taken against a green screen then wait for your turn to play.
Obviously it's a busy attraction in the summer holidays so be expected to wait for the holes.
I actually thought them really difficult. It was less crazy golf than more hard golf.
Each hole has a hand pointing where you put your ball. With some weird and wonderful places.
Overall it was fun. When finished your scores are tallied and you get a potion drink!
A. J.
We had a fantastic time here today for my son's birthday we had the VIP tickets with a free gift set of drinks when we finished our game as well has our free magic drink x
E. B.
My family surprised me with a trip to The Hole in Wand for my birthday. As a massive Harry Potter fan, I already had high expectations and I’m so pleased to say that I wasn’t disappointed! The staff are brilliant and make the shop feel like a whole experience rather than just a round of mini golf. My youngest son loved finding out that he possessed magic and we had some pictures taken with broomsticks (these turned out fab and we were offered the chance to buy them at the end, with no hard sell). The course is wacky, creative, silly and SO much fun - we loved every minute of it. If you love golf and HP, it’s the place to visit in York!
G. M.
3 ages 61, 20 and 9 had a great time in this wizards themed mini-golf place just opposite the Jorvik centre.
Just shows what can be done with an empty shop space... Tomorrow's high streets can learn from this.
Imaginitive, creative and the staff make it all so much more... Better than at a Disney park. Well done to all involved!
N. R.
Spent an hour here today with the kids. Staff were super polite and patient, explained everything really well. Apologised as we had two large groups ahead of us. Didn't detract from the fun. Great holes, challenging but not impossible. I paid for the regular ticket and felt it was good value.
A. P.
Booked this as a birthday treat for myself. It was great the staff are brilliant and stay in character. It was so quirky seeing as both my husband and I are big Harry Potter fans it was so much fun. We thought the course was a little short but it was really enjoyable and absolutely great for the price. We did the couples ticket and I would definitely recommend it.
A.
My partner & I had a brilliant time from waiting to going in & leaving when we had finished! All the staff were so lovely & so friendly. It wasn’t busy when we were going round, it was all kept well socially distanced and safe. It’s brilliant for all ages, if you enjoy Harry Potter! I think it took us about 30/40 minutes to go round. I booked the couples bundle & was very surprised for what we got, we were both happy with it. We enjoyed a butterbeer when we finished. We really enjoyed the riddle book we got to fill out going round too. Highly recommend!
j. n.
My grandsons had a fantastic time here the experience starts at the front door while waiting to enter, the staff are great interacting with the children too.
9 holes all with varying levels of difficulty my grandson managed to get a hole in one, lots of suprises including a riddle to solve with clues at each hole, great attention to detail and a fab potion at the end all adds up to a fantastic experience.
We had to cancel our first booking due to isolating the staff were so helpful arranging a last minute booking. Thank-you 😀👍
B. A.
Lovely experience for all the family, well in keeping with the magical theme, even managed to score a hole in one! A lovely time perfect for light hearted family fun. Would throughly recommend finishing the day in the hole in wand taven for a wizard themed drink with a little extra magic. Well organised and very friendly and enthusiastic staff. Thank you for a lovely visit.
M. A.
Pretty awesome place. Harry potter themed miniature golf, and some holes are nigh impossible. The staff are nice and helpful and there is a script the use to get the customer into the theme of the shop. 9 hole course spread out on 2 floors thematically laid out which is awesome for young people or fans of the Harry Potter universe. We are already planning a return next year with a few friends. Buy the couples ticket, it is worth the savings. I also ordered a orange slice hot chocolate, it was ok the flavour was there a little sweet and a tad orangey but something was still missing.
E. C.
It certainly was a novelty mini golf experience. Lots of thought and effort has gone in to making it a place worth visiting. However, I've never played a course like this where 6 is the average score. A few of the holes lack any real friction, so it's like playing on lino. I'm no Nick Faldo, and you shouldn't need to be, but some of those holes were beyond tricky.
M. R.
Good experience for anyone who enjoys mini golf. For the pros try and get a hole in one, it's a tough challenge 😅
J.
Lovely decorated course, staff were really friendly and welcoming - can see them being great with kids. Holes were definitely too challenging and felt a bit cramped but we had a decent time and the drinks at the end were a good bonus.
D. N.
Was our second time visiting its such good fun just wish they had more holes.
M.
Really enjoyed this little magical course. Picking out your wand (club) and seeing how magical you are at the start was really fun. The atmosphere of the place sets the whole tone along with the staff members.
The person who was chatting to us was really apologetic that we had been waiting a while after our booked time slot because of a larger group coming in and had unfortunately disrupted the flow of giving people enough time to get around each hole without having to wait.
The holes range in difficulty, especially those that were needing a good whack to get over an obstacle/up a ramp. One member from our group did get a hole-in-one which was fun to see.
Also getting a drink at the end depending on your score was a nice prize at the end (even if you weren’t the top wizard)
My only down point would be that there were times we ended up queuing for the next hole. As they are quite close together, it was then starting to get difficult to try and keep out of other groups way without standing on the course. With the rules of if you are not able to get the ball where it needs to go, you just add the max shot total to your score, some were not following that which then caused a domino effect to other players behind them.
Whether these bottlenecks can be alleviated by having less time slots in the day (especially if a large group gets booked it) may help?
Either way I really enjoyed it and found out that I’m not that bad at wizard golf.
P. C.
A very different experience was had when visiting here. Clever set up with a magical theme. The bottles at the end were a nice touch. My son is currently reading Harry Potter so opted for the basilisk blood! 🪄
J. M.
Nice atmosphere and good presentation as a mini golf course that apes the style of a certain Wizarding world. That said, it's short at 9 holes which are all very simple, 8 of which are all just different kinds of ramps to a hole. Come for the atmosphere, not the golf.
S. D.
Aww fab visit with family. Was indeed fun and not as easy as you thought. Didn't get a hole in one but had fun. Lovely Gin potion to take home at finish. You are indeed a golfing wizard for a while 😀
E.
Great afternoon out and the holes were a challenge which made it more fun. Think it’s great you receive a ‘potion drink’ at the end as it makes it more magical. Staff were very friendly and helpful however the course was very congested as there was a lot of people waiting in front of us meaning we were blocking the course for the people behind as well. Overall I’d recommend going just perhaps at a quieter time.
M. M.
This place is fun and a great place for any wizarding fan. With an immersive experience with a choice of house and a surprise drink at the end depending on your score. It is very reasonably priced and the staff are great. It is only 9 holes but its definitely worth a visit
P. R.
Quite fun even for us adults, im a little upset that we paid for the 4x people group which costs extra for cake and drink however were never given any of it and or ever told how to claim it.
So kind of annoyed i paid an extra £4 per person for something we didn't get.
I still recommend this place but im royally upset that we missed out.
(Update: changing to 5 stars. The team contacted me and rectified the issue swiftly)
D. H.
Not bad, not great. It’s very small and over very quickly. I think it is aimed more at children. Expected it to be much better than it was. Decor was pretty cool though
A.
Difficult to play which made it unenjoyable and some of the holes and routes were broken. Very small place so we were done very quickly. Free drinks are full of additives and sweeteners so we binned those.
J. H.
Disappointing. The place is small , a bit cramped. The holes are very difficult so this decreases the fun. We paid £29 for 2 adults and 2 kids , we got a free drink at the end . We would not do it again .
A. G.
Brilliant atmosphere great game of crazy golf Potter themed. Lovely staff who were really enthusiastic to make it a very enjoyable experience will definitely be going again some time
J. S.
Great place to visit in the centre of York, even if you are not playing the golf. The decor is amazing! We used the cafe and were delighted with our refreshments and service.
S. G.
George was a brilliant host for our little golf tour. Good fun way to spend an hour, and a good fair price for the experience 👍🏻
D.
Really good, detailed golf course of a magical house. The staff were enthusiastic. Harry Potter fans must go.
A.
-Fun experience with regards to being Wizard themed
-Mini golf was ok, not the best holes
-Friendly staff
-Cafe
-Toilets are clean and tidy
C. N.
We had a great time, our girls loved it as did we. The staff were brilliant and so welcoming and made us feel like we were in the experience as soon as we arrived. Thank you 😊
R. E.
Fun little adventure golf setup, not too expensive and a couple of different ticket options to fit everyone's pocket.
H. D.
My boyfriend I visited last week whilst in York. We had a fabulous time! It was extremely well organised, so no group was too near another group, or stood waiting behind the previous group etc, which was especially important given Covid. From the off, there's a cool little 'magic tester' you take as you enter. Then there's a little story you get told at the start, and you have to find some letters and solve riddles to solve the overall puzzle. My boyfriend and I thought it was a fun addition to the game, and kids will definitely enjoy this aspect.
The course itself was great! A lot of the holes were challenging, and they were all extremely creative and well laid out. The overall decor was amazing. So many wonderful details, such as the putters (or 'wands,' as they're called) being suspended in the air with wings, much like the giant winged keys from the first HP film. It was great fun looking around, exploring, figuring out the clues, all the while enjoying the mini golf. The atmosphere was wonderful too- it really felt magical. They played music from the films too, so it really did feel as though you had entered the world of Harry Potter.
We had a great time and will definitely be visiting again!
H. C.
Cards on the table, this isn’t a very long experience. We were in and out in about 50mins and it would’ve been about 15 mins faster if not for the slow team in front of us. BUT it’s a great experience. I was beyond amazed and impressed by the staff that were working (last Sunday about 4:30). How they managed to remember everything they had to say without a script I will never know. They were polite, upbeat, fun, and just generally made the experience really pop. They should be very proud of themselves. The golf course is fun- nine holes all with really cool Harry Potter deco and a fun little prize at the end. Would definitely recommend for any Harry Potter fans!
D. K.
The holes are very compact and many somewhat annoying. Felt rushed and pushed as players in front and behind pressure your game. I think they should limit the amount of people more.my son enjoyed it though and the themeing is good.
E. P.
A wonderfully unique way to spend hour in York with your Wizard mad children - the whole family had so much fun! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
K.
A brilliant place to visit for anyone particularly magical! The staff here are fantastic, and make you feel very welcome. The course is fun and theming is great, and the little surprise at the end whether you won or lost was a nice bonus!

A must do if you're a wizard fan in York. Place was smaller than I thought but it didn't matter the courses were great anyway loved the design and thought put into them although some as already mentioned in other reviews, we're quite hard to do but then it would be boring if they were all easy. Staff were lovely especially I think her name was Rochele I tried to look at her name badge to give her a mention. She was very helpful and friendly we were having a great chat about York as it was our first visit. We would definitely come again.
S. F.
My partner and I had so much fun here, the staff are all so friendly and genuinely happy to be there. We loved how well thought out the decor was and all of the nods to key parts of the Harry Potter films. Such a fun touch to get a potion bottle drink based on your mini golf score too! 10/10 recommended to anyone visiting York! :)
T. N.
A fun experience but focussed more on the gimmick than an enoyable mini golf course
J. G.
What a cracking little place, only 9 holes and a bit tight but well thought out.some of the holes are tricky but we had a great time, staff very polite and helpful, would definitely visit again.
E.
So creative and so much fun , even get a free drink to take with you ! Would definitely go again :)
M. C.
Great family activity! The holes themselves are a little cramped, but varied and entertaining to attempt. The staff were great at setting the tone and creating the magical atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend pre-booking as the queue outside was quite long. I thought the personalized potion at the end was a really nice touch too.
A. B.
Such fun, great concept, really well planned & executed. Staff are great realktcgetcyiu into the whole experience.
R. M.
Brilliant place. Get game of mini golf. Quirky games amd great fun my partner and I really enjoyed yourselves. Staff are brilliant and make it a great day.
J. B.
Great experience for the whole family or just you and your significant other. A really magical experience really great designed holes and setting. Staff are friendly and great service.
T. G.
It was good, but as the golf goes it was really hard for the kids and as you don't get to choose your flavour of drink as it determined by your score there might be some disappointed kids.
M. S.
Great experience for Kids and Adults alike and was well priced. Space in the building is tight, and as such it’s a short 9 hole course.Sadly doesn’t make it any less difficult.
E. M.
If you’re visiting for the golf you’ll be disappointed – the course is short and some of the holes are all but impossible – but there’s plenty to enjoy in the presentation and the enthusiasm of the staff.
E. J.
We went first thing on a Wednesday so it was really quiet and relaxed. Well worth the money and had a good laugh!
J. Y.
Really good location and looks AMAZING on the inside. Staff were super friendly and did a great job keeping everyone socially distanced. We had lots of fun! The holes are a little harder than other mini golf places but it means it takes a good 30 minutes to get round the 9 holes.

(Visited Jul 2021)
I found a really good Groupon which gave each person a round of golf as well as a drink for less than a fiver each. Despite booking in advance, though, we had to wait over half an hour to get in. Luckily, the restaurant we were going to after were willing to push my booking with them back because of this.
The front of house staff were apologetic- it was likely poor management that meant they had to deal with (rightly) fed up customers- but couldn’t give us very accurate information on how long the wait would be. We weren’t far off just giving up.
There are 9 holes which are actually incredibly challenging and have lots of fantastical, Harry Potter-themed obstacles. We had a laugh, and it’s fun how the random nature of each course makes it anybody’s game.
The potion drinks are something I’d expect to see on a shelf in Home Bargains. My pink one tasted cheap, but had a lovely shimmery swirl when shaking it.
T. W. (.
A lovely place full of joyful and engaging staff. Greeted at the door by the lovely Georgia. Whilst they were unfortunately fully booked for golf they were happy for us to have a few drinks. The aesthetic for the place is truly magical (if you’ll pardon my pretence for dad jokes) and all the drinks are whimsically wizard based really adding to the feel. A truly amazing place will absolutely be returning next time we come to York!
P. T.
We really enjoyed our visit here. The staff were very friendly, helpful and very good with the kids.
The course itself was very challenging. The adults in our party struggled with some of the holes never mind the younger children. All good fun though. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you're a fan of the adventures of a certain boy wizard.
T. E.
We had an amazing time here. Myself, partner and 7 year old. Would definitely recommend, although maybe not on weekend or over school holidays as it was quite busy and we did get a bit impatient waiting for the group in front to go. The magical potions were lovely too!
J. P.
A hidden diamond! We had booked in to go to the Jorvic Viking museum and only by chance saw this across the street. Loved the aesthetic even from outside, so booked in while still queueing for Jorvic. Other than a bit of a long wait in the queue outside, everything was a 5/5 for sure.
We were in York for our honeymoon and the staff here made an extra special effort to make us feel entertained. The golf courses are small but innovative and fun, and very well themed. Would be a great place to take young-uns as there's an investigative 'puzzle' that's a part of the course that would be good for young kids.
K. F.
Great staff. The theme for the minigolf is spot on. Some of the holes are quite difficult and I was recently informed that a spell can be cast on the dark hole, just wish I had known at the time. The options for hot drinks in the cafe are really good however when ordering a few they can arrive cold. They have since rectified this as I have been told to stop this happening again. If your into the magical world. Go play golf and stop by the cafe for a hot drink. Pick something unusual.
A. B.
A novel place to visit. Nicely designed and staged but...
it's too cramped. There's not enough space between each hole to give any space. Even more of a problem with covid.
The holes are quite tricky. Several of them you either get lucky or you hit your maximum 6 shots and have to move on.
There's too many people in at the same time. We were rushing each hole because there were groups behind us. They should reduce the number of people per hour by 1/3rd really.
Is it worth it? Perhaps if you do it at a quiet time when you aren't being rushed.
R. W.
We visited Friday 23rd July with a couples ticket for mini golf. The theme was cool and very well decorated, everything was magical and wizard themed as promised. The staff were very hard working and nice. We were met by a young man at the front door who helped us take photos and had a nice conversation while we waited for the group in front of us to get started. As we came inside, a lovely lady explained the storyline and made it very fun and interactive. I was worried it would be cheesy but I actually enjoyed it. But this is where it started going downhill. Straight away, we were very confused by the size of the holes. We expected just that ‘something more’. I’m not a fan of the 2 holes downstairs, as I feel a bar and a mini golf area should be separated. But i suppose they’re just working with the space they’re given. The holes were almost impossible to complete, and whilst they looked impressive, they weren’t very practical. Small, difficult, and heaven forbid you’re stuck behind a family or you’ll spend most of your time waiting behind them. Upstairs was terribly warm, I suggest investing in some aircon. The final hole was very creepy, even as a 28 year old man I found the gargoyle a bit scary! Once again, almost impossible to get the ball into the hole. Ended up just throwing them in lol.
We then made our way back down the stairs and were waiting for a few minutes behind a family being served already. The lady working on the bar ended up coming over to us and greeting us with a big smile and asking us how we enjoyed the course. She totalled up our scores for us (because I’m bad at maths) and explained how the scores gave us a potion. A bit upsetting that we both got the same drink and we didn’t get to choose it but she made it very fun and explained how the drink would make us talk to snakes (still waiting for that side effect).
She also showed us the photo we took but only one of the photos came through. She was very apologetic and offered to take another photo but we declined as we weren’t planning on spending £5.99 on a bad quality photo anyway. Nice idea though with the green screen.
Our couples ticket meant we got a box set too at the end full of all the potions and some spirits. Needless to say, we tried all the drinks once we got home and they aren’t the best flavours but with alcohol in you can overlook the taste.
Overall, the staff are really what make the place. I wouldn’t say it’s worth the money for the simple fact that it feels very rushed (you’re only allowed 6 shots on each hole), it’s very warm inside, and there’s a lot of waiting around.
Thank you Sam for welcoming us to the place and the lady on the bar for making it magical, even at the end of the experience.
R.
Theming was good but golf itself was rather poor with most things based on luck rather than skill. Overall we felt rather rushed round, in part due to being so small inside that you always feel the group behind are on top of you waiting for you to finish. The hidden puzzle got a bit lost along the way and we only remembered it after leaving as nobody mentioned it at the end. The green screen photos were also hilariously amateurish. Overall a bit of a tourist trap like all the other "wizard" themed attractions in York.
G. C.
I loved it here definitely worth the money! Also the drinks are delicious.
R. W.
Not a bad little mini-golf course, loosely themed on Harry Potter (owned by the same people who run one of the ships in Shambles).
Some of the holes are surprisingly difficult.
At the time of writing (due to Covid), numbers of sessions were limited. Pre-booking is highly recommended if you want to go on a certain day as the sessions/slots will be booked up quickly. The holes are limited to 6 attempts per player (not really enforced).
At the end of your game there is a reward based on your score, and a little something if you stole a hole-in-one.
The venue has a gift shop, and a small area for (very nice) refreshments.

The effort that has gone into theming this place is great, every hole looks the part. Practically though, it's bad. My partner and I play mini golf virtually every place we visit and this is by far the most ridiculously difficult course we've played.. whoever made it must not play proper golf because every hole is really short, over half of them are impossible to make in less than 6 shots, it made for a very frustrating experience to the point you just give up trying at all. Mini golf should be a challenge but this is just silly and not well-thought-out at all - definitely style over substance. We also paid for a drinks package which we thought would be an actual drink we could have in the bar, but were handed a gift set and shooed out, so not what we expected really. Wouldn't recommend to anyone but can't fault the aesthetic and the staff were really friendly and professional.

Absolutely fab place. We had a right laugh. When she says act scared, make sure u practice your scared pose cos otherwise you will look us lot pmfsl

Excellent staff, very enthusiastic and welcoming. The decor is great and the theme is great however the actual course itself is a massive let down with parts not working and the holes being overly difficult to complete within the 6 shot limit, the course needs to be much better quality for the price

Brilliant fun for fans of Harry Potter! We had a great time, the holes were really magically decorated and the drink at the end was a plus! We're so glad we visited this attraction during our trip to York.

Really fun!!! The staff were amazing and helpful. Took about 30mins in total for four of us. Decor is amazing. The only downside is that the free potion you get at the end gets chosen for you.. I got soda water and inreally didn't like it! But overall a fun trip.

Brilliant being Harry Potter fan

Magical experience from start to finish. All staff are friendly and contribute to the experience. The holes are quite challenging but very cleverly done. Excellent value for money.
B. I.
Well worth the money! We really enjoyed it. 9 holes to complete. The Harry Potter theme is really good. I'm not very good at golf but it was fun even if I didnt manage to get many holes in one! Loved the decor. Took a couple of sneaky snaps but I dont want to spoil it for others. If your a Harry Potter fan you'll love this. At the end you get a prize depending on what you score. Enjoy

Really good idea just poorly designed it could really be a unforgettable experience if it did feel as though you were crammed in to such a small space

We visited here yesterday and we had an amazing time it's just so much fun all the staff were so friendly and very informative about everything from rules of play to stock they're selling. Playing mini golf looks easy it is not its so hard but sooooooooo much fun so thanks to all the awesomely wonderful staff who help to put the magic into golf. 🏌️♀️🧙♂️💫⛳

Very cute little miniature golf course and the staff really make an effort to make it an immersive experience
D. R.
Was ok....only took about 30 mins with 2 of us. Friendly over excited staff... probably better if you had young kids.
L. H.
Great family fun and the staff were excellent. Got stuck in traffic on the way to York and the again in the copper gate car park. The team at The Hole in Wand got me and the family in as soon as they could even though we'd missed our original booking slot.

we had a really great time! the decorations were amazing and it was a great value for money :) we were treated so well by the staff and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, would definitely visit again! :)

Really fun course, well laid out and looks great. Helpful staff and nice free drink at the end.
Was quite annoying that we got there 5 mins before our booked time as asked and we were waiting outside for a further 20 mins. Appreciate it was a Saturday and they have to adhere to social distancing but could have spaced the bookings better

Great idea, right in the centre of York. The adornment is really good with great attention to detail. However, we found the course is much too tricky for younger kids. And it can become quite congested. All the staff were great and got in character brilliantly. If the holes were possible for our 6 and 10yr olds to score well then this would deffinatly be 5 star.
C. D.
Great fun, some holes can be tricky but the wizard theme is great. Everyone there was really friendly and you get a drink at the end too. Make sure you book online though.

This is a great little place! Particularly if you’re as nerdy about Harry Potter as is! Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
The price is reasonable considering you get a “free” “potion” as a prize, which would normally cost £3.
We went on a morning slot, we didn’t feel rushed at all and went round in about 50mins.
Was very enjoyable, staff were friendly & helpful.

Decent day out. Only 9 holes which is a bit restrictive. Also not allowed to take any more that 6 shots because of the people who are behind you. £6.99 for 9 holes and a potion (drink) at the end.

Great time here with the kids today - really good fun, Martin & the team were all brilliant and engaging, and the scenery appealed a lot to my eldest who's a huge HP fan! Reasonably priced gift shop too!

Amazing place and a great Theme. The holes are far too difficult though. My children found it really difficult.
Make some of the holes a little easier specifically Hole 1
K. f.
I absolutely loved it! So much thought has gone into it! From start to finish, it was so much fun! The only thing I'd say, is the experience went too quick, would have liked more time on each hole but will definitely come back without a doubt!
H. B.
Fun on account of just how hard and utterly frustrating this is. How anyone can get some of the shots under 7 I’m not sure. Mebbes if your name is Tiger Woods. Or if you did what we and all other players near us did and just give up and pick up the ball and lob it in the direction of the hole. Staff were nice enough.
J. D.
Good idea very bunched up not much space between groups very claustrophobic at times with groups
C. E.
Really really good fun if you're a harry potter fan, staff were amazing and made it so fun without it being cheesy and childish, i will say its quite a hard mini golf though so be prepared!
F. C.
Hole 1 impossible, congratulations to whoever gets it in 😆. Went with friends. Was a lot of fun.
P. T.
This place is great for any Harry Potter fans, the theme is perfect throughout.

Visited for the first time today and have to say will definitely be visiting again. Very clever concept, holes were challenging for even two adults but fun enough for a 10 year old and a 14 year old. Fab morning 👍🏻👍🏻
M. L.
Fantastic magical time here we loved it and will definitely be visiting again !!
M. V.
I had the best hot chocolate I've ever had in thie place! The staff is really kind
W. J.
Loved this place! Theming and design is excellent and staff are super friendly! Would recommend to all ages who want to have a magical escape whilst they visit York. Already booked for August!
E. D.
We had a brilliant time here this morning. The staff were lovely!!

Great fun for the family. Experience lasted around and hour and a half with a family ticket. Nice cake reward at the end.
B. F.
It was really overcrowded and because of that we didn’t really get to soak up the attractions, however the staff were professional, kind and made it all worth while! 100% worth your money I will be going again hopefully when it’s less crowded.
d. d.
Great experience for all the family to enjoy. A bit of magic at every hole! We even got a magical soda to take home with us.
I. P.
Fun for all the family, great experience and very well laid out with well thought out holes. Each of the 9 holes are different and have their own little story:)
A. H.
Very good experience, can’t wait to go back! ☺️ The staff were brilliant and very friendly. We bought the couples package and the potion and poison box set we got was brilliant!
T. W.

Went with some friends for my 21st birthday and it was fantastic! Staff were so friendly and we had lots of fun with the golf too, highly recommend!
K. C.
Done a lot with a small space...impressive how much fits in.
Some holes were a bit tricky, but a 6 shot maximum stops the younger ones becoming too frustrated or demoralised
Nice theming with the drinks at the end, staff arw very engaging
T. L.
Great fun for all the family, well priced tickets and food. It's a lot quiter when we started at 2pm so if you don't have kids I'd highly recommend that.
I. L.
Friendly and welcoming staff .The food and the drinks menu are very reasonably priced.
All covid guide lines are followed .Always enjoyed my visit there .
C. A.
Had a great time with my husband. Super fun and reasonably priced, must visit for every Harry Potter fan!
E. G.
Very creative and a good challenge. Holes maybe a bit too difficult. We were told to let other groups in front of us as we were too slow.
C. R.
We had a fantastic time. Loved it. Very original. We will be visiting again. Loved the drinks!

Very good fun for all the family from young to old, prices are very good and staff are extremely helpful, the tavern is also fairly priced and very helpful . Would recommend this to anyone.

H. W.
Great fun. Really enjoyed this activity
S. R.
Personally feel as though this is aimed at a younger audience, with that in mind its a decent day out
A.
The level of detail in this place is great. The courses can be difficult, so it may not be very child friendly.
L.
Good fun but small and people behind us werent playing properly and rushing us through
B. W.
