I sent through a simple brief with a basic sketch and from there Mair took the time to understand what I was trying to show and designed exactly what I had in mind and more! B. T.In the summer of 2014, I had the pleasure of working directly with Mair producing a promotional video for her company 'Mair Perkins Ltd Animations & Illustration'.
As part of our working agreement on this project, she offered to create me one of her well known 'Anime Portraits'. So that got me thinking about what theme I wanted to go for as I'm a big comic book fan, as well as a massive fan of the H.R Giger's 'Alien' and the 'Alien' film franchise.
So I went for a cross between 'Alien' and Marvel's 'Ironman', which I took the form of a Space Marine and my older brother was in the war torn MK 3 Ironman suit. The outcome of Mair's adaptation was AMAZING!! It was like my inner teenage dreams of my favourite films and comic books came to life with my brother and I in the middle.
Mair worked from a few photos I had sent her and from this she mocked up a scene then proceeded to complete the piece in colour and shade.
Words cannot describe the final piece, you need to see it in real life as it was perfect! It captured a playful side of her art with adult themes. So one of the best things about her anime portraits is Mair can do any scene you imagine! The final prints were A3, so an everlasting smile will always be on my face every day I look at it.
So if it's a special portrait for friends, family or loved ones...any scene or just a lovely portrait straight from a photo. Mair delivered an outstanding and unique piece of art work. EVERYONE NEEDS ONE :)
