We highly recommend Eddy at Young's Adventure Solutions. We spent the day taking part on the Dorset BMC outdoor trad youth course. My son and I really found the day useful. Eddy was a great teacher and we had lots of hand on learning and practice time. We took away plenty of new safety skills, belay techniques and rope set ups. The setting on the Dorset coast was perfect. We hope to take part in another course this summer.

We booked with Eddy for the sunset cliff camping experience and it was amazing, stunning views you could sit for hours and not get bored of! From booking of the event Eddy kept us updated every step of the way and was easy to contact for any help we needed. On the day of the experience Eddy was friendly and made us feel at comfortable and safe, as we were first time climbers we had a lot of questions which Eddy was very knowledgeable about too. Highly recommended. Eddy took a group of 3 of us rock climbing for our first time in Dorset. Clearly he is a very experienced and high level instructor capable of teaching light years ahead or our abilities. We all felt like Eddy was a great instructor, very genuine with his support and encouragement without being too pushy. He picked some routes which were challenging for us but achievable. He encouraged us to take responsibility for our safety but was always attentive and quick to spot and correct us if we missed something. We all had an amazing and fund day. My husband Andy and I spent a wonderful day climbing on Portland with Eddy. We had a fantastic day and learned so much. We are not especially competent or confident climbers, but Eddy was so patient and taught us so much even in the few hours we were together. Eddy's' teaching style is incredible - explaining things so clearly ,giving brilliant tips and tricks to boost our ability and confidence, and he was always happy to answer questions, so we progressed a lot in a short time - he's the best guide we have ever had -and great fun too. He already had experience with climbing, and I was still a beginner so I wanted to 'learn the ropes' and gain more experience / confidence for when we climb together in future. I got hooked on climbing ever since my first intro to rock with Eddy almost a year ago. This time I asked Eddy to help me with improving my rock climbing technique focusing on trad routes and then putting it into practice on some easier walls (bridging was a revelation!) and finished with a fantastic VS route (completed with a shaky hands and the biggest smile I could produce!). Some abseiling, few controlled falls and recap on gear placement and anchors boosted my confidence and keenness for climbing. Eddy was professional, has buckets of knowledge and communicating it clearly and precisely, he is also a fantastic company. I was really impressed that the location and routes he picked made social distancing almost effortless without compromising on the tuition or safety. I recently attended my 3rd course with Eddy Young, a multi-pitch skills course run in Portland, in Dorset. I've previously done an intro to climbing and self rescue course with Eddy and there's a reason I keep coming back. Eddy is super knowledgeable and conveys complex information in a really easy to understand manner. He outlines what you'll be doing, gives great instruction, allows time to practice skills safely, before applying those skills in a more life like situation. He always includes time for reflection, to ensure his clients can process what they have done and what they've learned and assess how it can apply to their own climbing context. More than anything, a day out with Eddy is super fun, super safe and you always take away a huge amount from it.

My partner and I would highly recommend booking a course with Eddy. He taught us how to sport climb outdoors on the Island of Portland. Eddy asked us what we wanted to get out of the session and learn by the end of the day, and he planned it accordingly. Eddy took every opportunity to explain and teach us things. I took my son out with Eddy so we could get some footage for GCSE PE rock climbing evidentiary filming and it was a great day. Eddy was well prepared for what we should do as he read the syllabus requirements in advance and helped us make sure we performed all the tasks in the specifications. It was my sons first outdoor climb so there was a lot to do and Eddy took a methodical approach and it went really well. We had a clear plan for how we’d approach the day and a good idea of how it was structured. It was great to learn extra bits too about local flora and fauna and geography and geology too. All in all it well structured, fun and informative. Eddy clearly has a passion for outdoor adventure sports and this helped the day go brilliantly.

I cannot recommend Eddy highly enough! His tuition is so thorough yet always fun; he ensures that learning and growing as a climber is exciting more than scary. We always felt extremely safe with Eddy, and we came away being much safer and more confident climbers. Before the session, Eddy took the time to listen to what we wanted to focus on, and then crafted a full day entirely around this, with his own extra (really useful) bits that we didn't know we needed, but now are grateful for. Five of us (two adults and 3 children) have done a one day 'indoor to outdoor' course with Eddy. All of us had various levels of climbing knowledge and Eddy was fantastic in managing that. Eddy was friendly and was very keen in ensuring our safety during the session. At the end of the course we have learnt how to do the outdoor belaying and done 6 different levels of climbing at 3 different spots. The chosen location (Dancing Ledge) was beautiful. Once upon a time three guys called John, Phil and Martin tried their hand at indoor climbing. We soon decided it would be great fun to explore climbing in the great outdoors. We needed an experienced Instructor and were delighted to hook up with Young's Adventure Solutions. Eddy’s extensive climbing experience and association with the BMC made it an easy decision. He put together a fantastic day for us at Cheyen Weire cliffs on Portland which culminated in the three of us lead climbing on bolts. Introduction to Outdoor Climbing. Jurassic Coast. In short, 100% recommended. A steep learning curve. However, Eddy's style is very relaxed which made for easier learning. Eddy is a very experienced and knowledgeable instructor and possessed the ability to answer all manner of questions fielded. He was incredibly safe and competent throughout which maximised the climbing day. At no point was I made to feel like a complete novice. Despite living in London we travelled to Swanage as I had heard great things and on arrival you could feel the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Eddy was just fantastic. We had never experienced anything like this before and it was just amazing. From start to finish we enjoyed every second. The short distance down to the canopy was ideal for our abilities but gave us a bit of a buzz. Then the contrasting wow factor of sitting over the sea watching the water and the setting sun was just Beautiful!! We chose a vegan supper which was lowered down by Eddy. This was both in abundance and very tasty. Once the sun had set and we were ready to come back to land we were guided up the short climb back to land smiling from ear to ear. So my wife and I did the BMC course intro to trad with Eddie and his friend Ben that was helping, and I have to say it was bloody brilliant. We learnt everything from what the gear was, to placing it, setting up various anchors with different equipment, abseiling, leading, and so much more. You can tell he is really good at what he does and has a tonne of experience. He also took the time to go round and make sure everyone understood what was happening and being said, and didn't rush you if you were struggling. Top service and am looking forward to the next course.

We had such a wonderful time having a sunset cliff dinner on a portaledge. We are both climbers and have wanted to get some experience of using a portaledge, so were pleased when we got given the experience as a gift. It did not disappoint, Eddy was fab and took time to understand our aims and explain the set up. He had placed the portaledge out of the wind so we had a sheltered dining experience with beautiful views. Dinner was delicious and locally sourced (from The Salt Pig), and there was plenty of it. Every detail was considered - dinner was even presented in a beautiful hamper. We can’t wait to share the experience and give it as a gift to friends for a special occasion.
