The abstract of this review is simply: if you want a trainer who will always support you, listen to you, challenge you (and occasionally provide some fun film trivia), Jake should be your one and only call. I started training with Jake two years ago, when I hadn’t stepped into a gym for years and all attempts at personal training and various fitness programmes had failed miserably. I had never understood how people got the motivation to train, or why some people enjoyed going to the gym so much. During covid lockdowns we trained in the park, and even though it was cold and wet, it was still more fun than I ever thought I could have doing exercise. Whether in the park or the gym, there’s no judgment, no barking orders like a sergeant major, and no matter how unfit you are, there’s always a plan, and always encouragement. Jake managed to change my entire attitude to exercise and gyms in the last two years, as well as massively improving my fitness, strength, and self confidence. The right personal trainer really can change your life.

I've been attending Wildcard for the past 4months (both Personal Training with Joe and Classes) and have had such an amazing experience and would highly recommend it to anyone. First of all, in the PT sessions with Joe, I've felt like my goals really have been listened too and we work towards them each week and the progress I've been seeing is so much more than I was expecting. I also feel so motivated to attend knowing I'm working on something personal to me in such a great, supportive environment with someone with a wealth of knowledge. I've had PT's in the past who have their own idea of what your goals should be and it's been really off-putting, which is something I've never felt here. I've also had the pleasure of attending at least one class with all the other instructors. Same with my PT sessions, they all have such great knowledge and motivation and even in a full class you still feel like you've had time to learn and improve with them all taking the time to help everyone. You really do come out of any session there feeling like everyone wants you to win and do well. Also, the fact one of my favourite pastimes is a nap, yet I'm buzzing to go and train should tell you everything you need to know.

I joined Wildcard about a year ago and its hands down the best decision I have ever made. After training in different gyms, I never found it sustainable and more importantly enjoyable. Since being here, I’ve never missed a session because I love what I do. Wildcard is owned and ran by knowledgable & approachable coaches for both nutrition and programming, with a super supportive atmosphere and well kitted with equipment (people even rerack their own weights here!). Can not recommend enough!!

I joined Wildcard in September 2020. I had moved to Coventry for a year with work and having always played team sports (football, water polo, rugby) was keen for a fresh challenge. To begin with I followed the athlete programming. I Ioved the sense of community and comradery at Wildcard. In April 2021, I decided to switch things up and began 1:1 programming with Alex. My goal was to build strength and muscle. I achieved these goals (HUGE PBs) and loved training in Wildcard which is so well equipped and supportive. Midway through this programming, I also started a cycle of nutrition coaching with Evie. As a vegan, I had struggled to properly fuel my body to achieve my goals and Evie really helped me to address this. She really listens to what I wanted to achieve and what barriers I was facing before going away to do her research and advise me accordingly. I have now moved away from Coventry. I can honestly say that Wildcard has had a lasting influence on my health, fitness, and diet. I am so grateful for the coaching, support, and general advice provided by each of the coaches. I would recommend Wildcard to anybody.

I joined Wildcard in October 2019 and i have loved being there over the last year and a half! The gym is run by Pryz & Alex, both hugely experienced trainers who have built a and a brilliant facility and team. What stands out is the community spirit that Alex, Pryz and all the members foster. Wildcard is about coming in, learning new skills, pushing yourself, everyone there encouraging you to do your best and meeting some great friendly people with some banging tunes playing! Wildcard offers a supportive and friendly training environment. Everyone was extremely welcoming and the gym has a good selection of equipment to ensure training remains varied. The classes are also great, the coaches are very attentive and ensure everyone is is getting the most out of their workout. It's more than just a common and mainstream gym.Coaches are professionals, qualified ,taking a good care of each and everyone and motivating people to carry on in order to see the best version of themselves! Also the best place to make new friends and take part in interesting activities.

Well well well... where to start? Today I stepped on the scales to find out that since starting my journey in January with Jake/Wildcard I have lost a total of 12kg in weight (almost all of which is fat mass). It’s easy to be embarrassed of that figure because I don’t think I ever realised how much weight I actually needed to lose (my own Fiancé didn’t even know how much I weighed). However, I couldn’t be prouder of myself. Through the whole of my twenties I have yo yo’d around trying fad diets, that worked- for a little while at least, but then the weight comes straight back on when you lose motivation. Jake helped me to understand what certain foods I needed to have in order to lose weight and by being on a deficit. And guess what? You can have any food you want guys!! Chocolate I hear you say? Yep. All calorie controlled, it’s as simple as that. Jake encouraged me to use my fitness pal to log my food, so he could see what I was putting into my body. On my consultation with Jake nearly 20 weeks ago, my big thing that I knew I struggled with was being motivated. I can safely say that Jake smashed that. He always made me feel like I was doing a good job with whatever the exercise was. He always encouraged me to keep going. Considering I’d never done “weights” before in my life he never once made me feel like a “newbie”. He always watched carefully when I was doing certain exercises and explained how I can improve it. The main thing for me was accountability. Having Jake as a PT meant I didn’t want to let myself down, but also him as-well, as I wanted him to know that I was serious about my weight loss/fitness journey. Walking in to a new gym is one of the most daunting things for a person that isn’t used to it. At wildcard you really do feel like you are part of a team. Jake geared me up through our 1:1 PT sessions so that I became confident enough to join in on the classes. I’ve been joining in for two weeks now and I absolutely love it. It’s a completely different gym experience to any I’ve witnessed before. If anyone is sat there, with lack of motivation because of “lock down life” then I would highly encourage anyone to walk through those doors, because you WILL NOT regret it. Losing weight aside... I’m now at a point where I’m fitter, healthier, and in general my body feel conditioned (don’t get me wrong, the aches from the sessions are REAL) -but that’s all good. My next goal is to tone up and get stronger, and I have complete faith that Wildcard coaches are some of the best people to help me achieve that. A special shout out to Jake as I couldn’t be where I am now without him. Then also Priz for making me feel welcome in the classes and showing me the ropes and then of course all of the Wild Card team that make it WildCard!!!

Absolutely fantastic training facility with excellent equipment and knowledgeable coaches that push you to achieve your best. There is always a friendly atmosphere with very supportive members that encourage and support weather you are first or last in the workouts.

If I have to describe how I feel during and after my experience at Wildcard with only one word I would use 'HAPPY'! P.S. If you're still not sure if you should join/give this place a try simply ask yourself which other gym would give you a personalised handwritten birthday card for your birthday?

Fantastic facilities with knowledgable and supportive staff! The other folks who I train with are inspirational and I always look forward to session for the training and laughs! It doesn't matter if you're a crossfit-er, powerlifter, bodybuilder - if you want to get stronger / fitter everyone here will shout you on. Great equipment, great staff, great people
