Reviews of Equinox Kensington
L. S.
Instructors are super friendly and you can always ask them questions at the end of the class, especially if you’re a newbie or are unclear about how to correctly use equipment.
The space itself is very nice and is kept clean at all times. There’s MUNCH FIT, to have coffee/eat after working out. You can also work from the raised table with benches, enough space for laptops and to plug your charging devices.👩🏻💻☕️
Toilet facilities are impecable if you have to balance your ‘exercise-going to work right afterwards’ routine. I’m very happy with this gym.
PS: Big fan of Metcon3 and Strong classes by Hendrick F
K. N.
I trained here in 2017 and rejoined this year after moving back to Kensington.
With Equinox you get what you pay for: Lots of space, equipment, clean and well maintained.
I can put my headphones on, and be confident that I can do my program without waiting for equipment or getting a bunch of attitude.
It doesn't look hardcore on the website, but the equipment is all there for powerlifting and bodybuilding if that's what you're into.
3 Deadlift areas and able to drop the weights (within reason), racks, hammer strength machines, dumbbells up to 54kg. Flat bench, incline, decline etc. There is rarely a time where you can't get what you need.
Seems to have a good mix of lifters of various skill levels and targets.
Even if I'm not in Kensington for a full year the annual cost is still worth it IMO.
Hopefully the January rush isn't too bad here as I am writing this in November....

I have been an Equinox member since 2017. The gym is gorgeous and clean, the staff helpful and friendly, and it offers awesome classes. The SPA is lovely and the masseurs competent (specially the Spanish physiotherapist). Additionally, the gym is open all days of the year a part from Christmas. However I am giving 3 stars because of few points which I am going to highlight:
1) After the steam room, it would be great to have a relaxing area but the only thing you can do is sitting on a bench and avoid someone else’s bum in your face
2) Some machineries are not always top-notch like the one in the picture below
3) Sometime the bar’s service can be very slow. Once I only wanted to pay a bottle of water but I had to wait 5 minutes
4) They spent over 3 months refurbishing the steam room and showers. These 3 months were terrible not only because the steam room was unavailable, but quite often you had to wait 5-10 minutes to have a shower because only 3 out of 10 were available. Because of this, few members left during this period and nothing was offered to those who remained - a part from apologies
All in all is a great gym but I cannot hide that for £215 a month I would expect a different service.

Lovely concierge team.
Amazing pilates studio.
Beautifully designed.
Absolute Pleasure visiting.

*UPDATE*
The gym has great changing facilities with Khiels products. My only criticism about them would be the GHD hairdryers which aren't not powerful at all, which slightly annoying.
The gym itself is really clean and seems to have all the equipment you'll probably want/need (I am a complete gym beginner).
I booked a block of Personal Training sessions which I have really enjoyed, however I am not sure they are worth what the gym are charging. I would expect a program and food plan etc. Fortunately my PT has kindly offered to do this for me, but apparently it is not usually included.

As a member of a few other Equinox locations I really think Kensington is one of the best. Friendly staff. Great equipment in a super clean environment. It exceeds my Equinox expectations.

As a potential future member, I visited the club the other day and I can confidently say that I am not that impressed. First of all, on arrival the reception was attended by just one member of staff whom was caught up with 2 other members and so I had to wait around 7-10 minutes to be acknowledged. That gave me time to notice that the minimalist design of the reception was quite basic and needed refurbishment. It took them more than 10 more minutes and 2 calls from reception until someone eventually arrived to talk me through the membership options. He was a lovely chap, David and I was ready to be overwhelmed but in reality they really cannot justify the £210/month when there is no swimming pool and they only have a couple of studios for classes. I am guessing it can get quite busy in there. But they do have olympic level PT's there and fancy trainers that look like models. In reality, the main open space gym floor is quite stunning within this gorgeous Grade 1 listed building and the machines are top tech but at the same time everyone seems to be so perfectly toned and pretty, you may have confidence issues going there to train. The staff do smile nicely and make you feel welcome once you're through the doors which was actually nice and comforting. No doubt, overpriced Lulu Lemon plus other designer gym clothing was at sale in their shop, they do have steam and sauna rooms, own brand bottled water, a personal laundry service and £140 massages, just so you know. I failed to ask which of the extra services are included in the membership fee, but my guess is as good at yours. Perhaps none? Lost 1 star on waiting times and 1 more on the lack of swimming pool and high fees.

Equinox facilities as a whole are top notch. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The equipment is clean and well maintained making it a great gym overall. You even get chilled towels! Also, having the spa in the gym is a great plus. Had one of the best massages here!

A member for six months.
Almost faultless.
Employees here seem to be unanimously friendly, courteous and enthused for their work, right across from the receptionists, cafe staff, cleaners and up to the excellent personal trainers and polite managers.
The equipment is modern and pristine and one rarely waits for anything; the studios (boxing, pilates etc.) are immaculate and luxurious – as are the changing rooms.
The members are also almost invariably friendly.
P. D.
Exceptionally crowded at peak times, poor maintenance (one water station has been “out of order” for many months, locked roof room leaks), shower water temperature fluctuates rapidly up/down while showering and the staff could use some training.
Two staff examples: 1. Meat head trainer came up to me while I was stretching with headphones on and asked, repeatedly, if I had been using the bench. No, I had not, but I ignored him the first time. He kept pressing and I said “no, why??” and he then accused me of leaving weights on it.
2. Just now was in the steam room which closes 15 minutes before the gym closes. Locker room attendant came in quite early to shut it down and I asked him if it was 8:45. He said yes and I knew it wasn’t so stepped out to check my phone to confirm (8:39). He closed the door back but didn’t turn it back. Lying to your customers is not a good look.

Most beautiful gym locations in London. The facility is consistently spotless with warm, smiling faces from the staff and other friendly members. Steam room in each locker room is LUSH and the complimentary eucalyptus towels make work outs that much more enjoyable. There is always someone here to help and the kids club rates are so gcompetitive. Best gym- more like a sanctuary.

Equinox Kensington has an awesome variety of facilities and great service.
You can find a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of room and space to work out.
The gym is absolutely clean and very well equipped.
I would definitely recommended to anyone.

I visited with a friend who goes to Equinox and was expecting it to be ultra lush, but it really is just a gym. That being said, they do keep the place spotlessly clean and there is a great vibe in the classes. People really seem to know each other, so it feels a lot more like a club, which is nice. I liked the bright and airy yoga studio too.

So, first of all I need to confess that I'm an Equinox addict when I'm back home in SF or when I used to live in NYC for very simple reasons:
- good showers and cleanliness
- kiehls products galore (shampoos, gels, body cream...)
- towels for your workout or shower
- eating area with super healthy and nice food
- great instructors
So all of this can be found in this equinox with the adding point of being extremely well located. I found this gym spacious for London standards and with a decent lightning display. the machines are brand new and the variety is better than an average US Equinox. I also loved the fact of having these machines divided into groups which really fall under your gym routine: back/shoulders; pecs/biceps and legs. I did feel that, as usual, the abs galore was not there. The shop was quite decent and the food served at the mini cafe was delish and quite healthy (salmon detox is a must) apart from their protein shakes. The staff is attentive (the only but was one person who seemed to have taken too many extra sales lessons). I think the only but could be the monthly membership (+150 pounds) but I think it is really worth as it is a great investment for you and your health.
A. V.
Good equipment, clean, nice steam room and bar. Some of the reception staff could be friendlier though. Also a bit overpriced for a gym without a swimming pool. But overall quite good.

I have been a member at Equinox for over 2 years now - equinox has never failed me even when I travel! When landing in London my first stop was to the Kensington Equinox location. The staff greeted me with a smile upon my arrival, the equipment was clean, locker room was stocked and cleanly, and I was able to go about my normal routine as if I were back at home. Great location!
C. B.
Great gym - the spa facilities are particularly nice, always clean and great atmosphere. The staff is always friendly, especially the receptionists and maintenance team. Worth the investment!
A. S.
I love Equinox! As a member of the Equinox Sports Club in NYC, I decided the day I landed in London to do an Athletic Conditioning class in the Kensington location and it was superb. The staff are excellent, super accommodating and personable. It was such fun and I am definitely looking forward to returning and participating in more classes come the holidays. Thank you EQUINOX for a fit workout and a fab experience.
I. M.
Dear Equinox Kensington,
Before leaving London, I wanted to say enormous thank you to the whole team!
I will be missing the girl at the reception who would salute me by my name in the morning, Hugo's jokes and amazing classes, as well the lavender scented cold towels we got during spinning or running. I so much enjoyed having a chat with my friend at the bar... you have the best matcha latte with cashew milk! Totally recommend it!
If I come back to London, I will be more than happy to come back to the family of Equinox.
Kisses and hugs,
Ivelina

My experience at equinox was amazing, the staff were outstanding all throughout my visit. Starting with the front desk who welcomed me with my name and then with the personal trainers assisting me with any help I needed and finally the maintenance who were non stop working making the place look spotless!
Highly recommend!

As a member for over 7 Years in the US, I have to say that I had a great experience at Equinox Kensington. The yoga class was out of this world. The receptionist, Sibora was very pleasant in getting me situated with the gym and checking me in.
J. C.
This gym is crazy good. The facility is spotless and the employees are very nice to the point of being almost over helpful. 10 out of 10 would recommend to friends, family, and random people in the street.
C. C.
I had such an amazing experience at the gym this weekend! The staff treated me so well and especially Linnea who made my day much better :) Will definitely come back and highly recommend this gym to everyone.
K. G.
This is the Ferrari of gyms - beautiful interior design, lovely staff and Kiehls products in the shower. I visited for a Tread and Shred running class which was fantastic - you decide how fast / slow you want to go. Best thing: the cold flannels in fridges placed in strategic locations around the gym!

By far the best gym in Kensington! Top quality equipment, amazing staff, extremely welcoming receptionists! Would extremely recommend if you need a gym in the area.
S. K.
Love the gym and been a member over three years now, however not happy that they reduced the guest passes to 2 per year instead of 10 as they used to be. I’ve actually brought in a member and always tell others about it however this is NOT COOL.
A. C.
Probably the best gym in London ! Best machines, great amenities and on top of it an amazing staff !
I tried many fitness clubs in London but I have to admit that this one is one of the best by far.
Definitely recommend it

The facility at Knightsbridge Equinox is lovely; however, I would suggest that the monthly rates be increased to £975,00 to discourage plebeians from outside of the Kensington, Knightsbridge & Chelsea areas from joining, loitering and littering themselves all over the otherwise lovely facility. I've always had a tremendous problem with the lower classes from areas like Notting Hill and Brompton using this facility. On numerous occasions, I've had to painstakingly translate their repulsive non-RP English to try and understand what it is they were trying to express. The lower classes also tend to wear visually hideous clothes from the bargain bins of Calvin Klein, Banana Republic and the ever atrocious and tragic Lululemon. Me personally, I typically wear leggings from Bandier and perhaps an active blouse from Fendi's new line. As for the shoes, I have taken an interest in Giuseppe Zanotti's new athletic lines; at a mere £1.200,00 a pair, they're a bargain! They are simply amazing. Of course, I must warn you, these sort of exclusive clothing items are not at all very welcome when the herds of the working class frequent this facility: mornings before work, lunchtime and after the working class evacuate themselves from their paper pushing cubicles inside Canada or Canary.
This facility was, up until recently, permitting Colonial members free access if they had a Colonial membership at the appropriate level. In protest, I summoned the manager to a very informal tea at Alain Ducasse a few months ago and insisted that he begin charging an entrance tax of £200,00. We bargained for hours until he was able to guarantee that the tax would be £60,00 per day.
I enjoy seeing my weekday trainer by the name of Carlton; a proper young British man born and raised in London's northern section of W8. He has attended sixth form in human body studies and is well educated in nutrition sciences. If you're interested in a revolutionary exercise routine then kindly request Carlton.
After the rates are increased and the vile working class have been wholly eliminated, then I can raise my rating to, perhaps, four stars. Until then, I attend the facility during the weekdays during a narrow time in the early afternoon with other members of the local aristocracy. We call it, "Our social time."

Best gym in London. Great staff, in particular Paige at reception does incredible work. Very clean, would definetly recommend.
J. C.
Great gym. The facility has many trainers with a great knowledge. Besides the spa is epic. Loved it. Been a great experience.
S. J.
Comprehensively equipped gym with a high ratio of staff to members. Layout is one very large room which makes navigating somewhat confusing. Cafe and shop excellent facilities and imacs available for members.
J. G.
One of the best Equinox locations. Extremely friendly staff, great layout, very clean. Juice bar is much bigger than other locations too. Definitely check it out.
