Reviews of Marshall Street Spa and Leisure Centre
L. K.
In Soho one of the most agreable SPA places, you have the cgance to swim a little then a little cardio and a super fancy gym workout with super professionals assisting you at the gym. If you go to shop some at Liberty you must come to the gym floor to have some abs or but toning workout.

Wow. What can I say. This pool which is in the middle of the coolest place in the universe, is made out of marble!
Actual marble. It's 33 metres long. It is delightfully cool in temperature and is thoughtfully roped off into lanes.
I once went to a 50 meter pool near the ski resort of Whistler in an especially stunning part of Western Canada 🇨🇦. The pool was perfect, the view was surreally gorgeous. Like from the lanes you looked up and saw Narnia just the other idea of the window.
And this pool is better! Like comic store guy in the simpsons says. Best. Pool. Ever.
J. G.
Friendly staff, clean changing areas and the marble pool is really stylish!
C. N.
Swimming as lockdown is mid easing is tricky, getting bookings with reduced capacity is hard. Marshall Street as the luxury option (swims are around £7.50 a go for non-members compared to £4/£4.50 for the rest of the group) so it is quieter but needs to be as the changing rooms are tiny. It was very enjoyable but feels like they've let the maintenance slide, several showers were out of order and the pool steps need updating.
A. T.
Came across Marshal Street Spa by chance after dissapointingly turning up at Oasis Covent Garden which was closed and no notice on website or to members.
Marshal street Spa is great value and a very nice pool and building plus very helpful staff. I only did a one off swim but will be getting a membership next visit.

AMAZING SERVICE GREAT ATMOSPHERE. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN ADRIAN & TEAM ❤️
F. C.
Amazing restored marble swimming pool. Fully accessible facilities and very convenient location. Pool itself would benefit from 5m mark flags for those of us who swim backstroke, but I gather they would affect the overall aesthetic of the place.
F. A.
Amazing swimming pool. Great facilities.
M. W.
Nice and clean pool with the historic cool interior. But the lighting is a bit dark.
M. G.
Simply the best indoor place to swim in London. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful marble surroundings. Never too busy. Give it a try.
P. T.
The beautifully restored 1930's 30m marble-lined pool is excellent for lane swimming but can get busy during peak times.
J. J.
The swimming pool here is so nice, it's a 30m pool and not too crowded so I always manage to get a good swim only once a week. A bit pricey for a 40 minute swim but still the best pool in the area.
I. S.
Good monthly price w/o contract. Mainly use the swim facilities - 30m pool. Mens changing rooms are small. Open showers (rare these days) and no hairdryer or personal space in general.
T. Q.
Lovely neighbourhood with a lovely gym just minutes away. Reception staff are super friendly.
Pool is a massive bonus to this venue. Cant fault my morning swim 🏊♂️
O. d. L.
Would have been 5 stars if the place was better kept. Black mould on the ceiling in men's changing rooms, smell of damp in the spa relaxation area (not very relaxing). Other than that, staff were good.
R. B. -. E. k.
A really great gym if you want to do a nice work out.
The pool in there is totally fantastic and one of our guys from work uses it all the time and simply loves it as you get a proper swim in there.
I would use it but cannot swim so bit of a shame but you can see this is a mega nice pool.
P. B.
Nice pool - friendly staff
M. W.
Westminster Council owned facilities operated currently by Everyone Active. Victorian era swimming baths with fitness suites, gym, studios for group classes and a spa. Very busy at peak times.
P. G.
The pool is superb, classic design, nor used any of the other facilities.
J. W.
Beautiful swimming pool, changing room always clean and tidy.. staffs are very friendly and helpful..
I
V. T.
Great for swimming however the wet changing rooms do need to be better ventilated as it can get extremely hot in there. There's barely any space for two people to move around.
r. W.
What a fabulous pool .I happened on it as we were working next door. Fabulous facilities. And so inspiring to find such a beautiful pool tucked away here. No one would ever guess what was behind those doors. Lovely. Well worth popping in
J. H.
Fantastic staff and facilities are super clean. Value for money. We'll worth a visit
H. T.
Great gym for the every day person.
Equipment that goes wrong seems to be fixed same day. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
Only issues are limited lockers when it gets busy and slightly small changing room. Well worth it for the price.
S.
Good place for swimming, spa and gym, but they removed a small couch next to the reception that's not an improvement, the small drinking water tap where the gym is, has been removed that a minus, and there is a problem with the soap not being available in the gents showers it's been at least seven times or more where the soap has been used up and no one did do anything about putting some to be used .
R. V.
Great location and beautiful building and swimming pool. Changing facilities are quite small and very dirty. In the 2 hours that I spent there, no cleaning was done in the locker rooms, as the same kind of dirt was there before and after my swim. Therefore, 3 stars is the best review.
M. C.
Well done for your social distancing swims.
Very well organized, obviously less time in the pool than before, but I have every confidence on the way you have organised everything
C. B.
A gym that is built in a beautiful building. The swimming pool is simply stunning. Great classes, nice staff, and a convenient central location.
A. E.
Historic London swimming pool. Marble and classic. The rest of the gym is well equipped but a little tired. There a spa which is satisfactory but don’t expect luxury. It would be so nice if they kept the standard up.
G.
I lived around the corner from this pool for around a year and never knew it was here! The pool looks like it has been newly renovated and about 30m long. I'll post a better review when I've actually tried the center.
B. H.
I love swimming here. There are always lanes and the changing rooms are scrubbed clean constantly. I am a very slow swimmer but it doesn’t matter. An oasis in the middle of the west end shopping madness!
P. M.
Great gym in the centre of London. Lots of varied classes and equipment . It also has a pool. Staff are always friendly. They have a really good app for booking classes.
M. L.
Great location, gym and swimming facilities have recently been modernized, hygiene was good, great place for some good exercises before heading to city centre.
C. F. -. S. -. P.
Went here for MoreYoga class was really nice place, got a bit lost while trying to leave because there are so many levels. Good place to go swimming, Yoga, Hiit and Spa.
M. G.
Newest gym in the area. I have been a member since it opened in Nov 2010, having switched my membership from the Fitness First on Kingly Street nearby.
The pool is great, the equipment is pretty new and the staff for the most part are very nice.
C. M.
Amazing pool. Shcedules can be a bit up and down but it's a great pool to swim at
J. L.
Great swimming pool here - 25m cool water, perfect for fitness swimming rather than leisure.
S. M.
Old premises turned into a modern gym/swimming/spa centre with an amazing atmosphere. Not pricey, friendly staff and facilities are cleaned.
M.
Great value pool, gym and leisure suite in a historic building. Fully refurbished in 2010. Highly recommended.
Z. C.
Well it is good place for swimming. Huge pool and good condition. The design for the change room are almost lay appeared in community club. The toilet is too close to the change place . Some time it stinks.
Swimming section seems having less issue than this
The spa section is separated , the resting room is not closed area. It could be easily disturbed with shower below. The spa is not easy accessing to the pool. They share the same floor with the internal gyms. In my opinion, for those who likes spa and swimming together, it turns out to be inconvenient.
M. P.
Beautiful swimming pool and brand new yoga studio. Plenty of classes and recently renewed equipment. Cleaners do a fantastic job considering the size of the place, but expect some fluff around and, being an old building, quite temperamental plumming. Very friendly staff and excellent instructors. The gym looks nice from outside :-)
C. H.
Brilliant swimming pool in central London. Friendly staff, clean changing rooms.
Important to remember your own Padlock or purchase one at reception.
J. A.
Good value but the men's changing rooms really aren't good. They've been recently refurbished but the floor is always wet which isn't great.
B. M.
Great pool. Went on a Saturday morning and nice and quiet.
M.
Great size pool. Large gym with plenty of equipment and normally not too busy.
C. B.
Fantastic pool - gorgeous, well-kept and retaining its period charm.
j. b.
old victorian swimming baths modernised, very clean, has gym, saunas, classes etc. best time to go after eight p.m a lot quiter for lane swimming
C. M.
Gym, yoga, swimming pool, private PT, all you wish for your wellbeing.
P. R.
lovely swimming pool - changing rooms could be cleaner
E. T.
A 30 meters long Swimming pool in the midle of a nice architure, sicilian and sweedish marble were used in its construction. A nice historic building
S. P.
Nice little sports centre in Piccadilly. Pool quite small, only 3 lanes and got quite busy in the morning before work. Dressing room quite nice and spacious and there is a spinner to dry swimsuits. Towel rental available for £2.
D. S.
I just joined, primarily for the affordable (£49/month) access to pool and exercise equipment. They were just taken over by a new management company, so supposedly there will be many improvements -- but, at present, it's pretty barebones/old school (sort of feels like a YMCA you'd find back in the States). But, to find a pool at this price is pretty incredible (Virgin and others will cost an additional £100/mo); plus the place seems to be frequently empty!
S. T.
Staff is friendly, pool water isn't too cold. The actual temperature of the pool area is actually quite hot, which is a nice change for once.
J. L.
I swim here regularly at lunch times. Ladys changing rooms are always extremely clean.
D. C.
I used Marshall Street Leisure Centre purely for it's swimming bath facilities. I love this style of pool: ornate, smooth, cream tiling. Beautiful skylights allowing reams of light to filter through. The pool is well run, but can get busy, excellent changing facilities. It's central location near Carnaby Street means it's easy to get to for the city goer.
A. A.
I swim here regularly on a Sunday morning. It's such a nice pool that it inspires me to get out of bed and down to Soho. The pool is I think 100 feet long (which makes it slightly difficult to work out your distances if your used to swimming in a 25m or 50m pool!) and constructed from a lovely marble.
I don't think that the changing rooms fulfill the promise of the pool - the men's is long a narrow, and feels crowded when there are more than say 4 or 5 people changing. The toilets are too close to the changing area.
The staff on reception always seem friendly, and there are some good places around for a drink or a bite to eat after your swim!
J. F.
Great gym with good selection of workout equipment and never too crowded
D. H.
Thursday 5th May, this is the fourth alternative BETTER swimming pool I visited during the closure of the Aquatic Centre(for 2016 European Aquatics Championship). I discovered this little gem in central London while I was taking a detour to avoid the shoppers/tourists in the main streets.
I've been to this venue twice within the same week since my first afternoon visit on the 5th, on both occasions I was greeted by very friendly staff at the reception, the changing area was clean and right next to the beautiful marble pool.
The pool is very clean, no noticeable smell of chlorine like other places I've visited. It's 30 metres in length with the shallow end at 1 metre and a 3 metres deep U-shape trench at the far end(end of the pool is actually 2.1 metres deep).
Unlike many other pools managed by GLL/Better, this one doesn't have the flags hanging both ends of the pool to indicate the distance you've swum. But I believe this is due to the fact that this place mainly caters for leisure swimmers.
f. p.
Good venue for body building, swimming and spa in between Mayfair and Soho.
The only down side is that they increase the price every year.
O. U.
Good value although a little bit grubby in the changing rooms and the gym area has no/very little mobile phone coverage.
F. B.
This is the best swimming pool in London - it's long enough to do a good workout (a pet hate of mine is small swimming pools) and the glass dome means you swim in daylight. It's lovely in the autumn or spring when an early swim co-incides with a sunrise. They've done an excellent job with the renovation. Remember to bring a £1 for a locker but they have great hairdryers in the changing rooms :)
M. H.
I'm a regular user of the gym and used to be a regular user of the pool. The gym is a decent size and generally well-equipped. Not a fan of their cardio machines (inflexible programs that don't allow you to see your progress), but the weight machines are new and in good condition. I rarely have to wait to use a machine. Downsides are the lack of maintenance (e.g. gym toilet was out of order for several months, broken lockers), no shower cubicles or hairdryers and a pool changing room that is so cramped and humid that it's impossible to get dry after a swim. I also find some of their marketing campaigns in the gym moronic and bordering on offensive (e.g. "get a beach body" nonsense) and the incessant infomercials on the TV screens make me want to poke needles in my eyes, but maybe that's just me. Unless you're looking for a pool, you can probably find a cheaper and better gym-only alternative nearby.
J. M.
Marble-lined swimming pool. Seriously. Actual marble-- good marble, at that. It's a beautiful thing and makes me wish I didn't have to take my glasses off to go swimming.
The centre is recently remodelled, but the good bits of the 1920s building are still there, including the marble-lined swimming pool, but the good bits of a new leisure centre are there as well (like nice changing rooms and showers).
The only downside is that it often has one lane occupied with classes or aqaurobics or something.
S. O.
My favourite gym in London. I was a member of this gym when it was Better Gym and a couple of months after it turned Everyone active. I had to cancel my membership because I wasn't in the area, but now I am so happy to rejoin and see so many familiar faces from the Better Gym days. The staff is always nice and and customer orientated and they have very good personal trainers. Especially Soma, always helpful. The gym has v good facilities and spacious rooms, compared to other gyms. I have always had a problem with adjusting the machines for my height (disadvantages of 5'2), but this ones are very accurate. Also Dani from the sales team is very nice. Good job guys x
R. B.
great staff, nice place to workout, also to swimming.
j. s.
Great gym recently renovated with modern gym studios and a swimming pool. It can get very busy during the week after work however classes are run by great trainers ad make up for busy treadmills. Saturday morning back-to-back yoga + body conditioning is the best hangover cure at Marshall St.
A. G.
Wow, what a beautiful pool, 100ft (30.5m) Marble pool, the floor is marble, the sides are marble, even the coping is marble! The water isn't over chlorinated either
The Grade II 1930's building, renovated in 2010 has a high vaulted ceiling and luxurious surroundings, it makes you feel very privileged.
Time it right and you'll have the pool almost to yourself, the lanes are wide enough to pass if not.
Changing rooms are adequate and lockers take £1 which is refunded, showers aren't always hot but do have free gel, there is also a free underpowered hair dryer.
I think the charge to go in if over £5.50 but for Better members (like me) it's FREE!!!
A. M.
Beautiful 30m pool.. bit heavy on the chlorine, though.
D. F.
Great pool and never too busy.
D. L.
What a delight! A beautifully restored Art Deco pool in the middle of Soho. Cool. Delicious. Lovely staff. You can rent a towel for a couple of quid and buy a swimming costume from them - so no excuse not to take a dip. I had to take a diversion in here during and unseasonably warm end of May heatwave. (Top tip if you are a statuesque gentlemen like me, Jacamo in Oxford St about three minutes walk away sells generously proportioned swimming costumes - just saying...) Spinner in the changing room will dry your costume very nicely. Only downside is the changing area is a little bit too hot for my taste and a tiny bit cramped. And it's not that cheap to swim...not too expensive, but a couple of quid less would feel better...
A.
Decent gym in good location even if equipment is limited
J. G.
Clean, nice marble pool, helpful staff.
C. H.
Good facility with good swimming pool and gym area
E. C.
Historical Victorian building, the pool has marble flooring, can get crowded so need to be mindful to avoid peak hours
S. C.

Very nice sport center with a spa !
G. W.
I came here today as I wanted to get back to swimming ; I am disabled and wanted to enquire if there was still a concession rate for disabled swimmers ; the gentleman at the desk was a nice guy but couldn't answer my enquiry so had a member of staff come to help me ; clearly; the guy didn't like me for whatever reason and was the most obtuse person I think I have ever dealt with , he told me I needed a PiP form and some residency ID (I was born and have lived in Westminster all my life) I gave residency proof and showed my freedom pass which has been more than sufficient at other pools ; I couldn't provide a PiP form as I'm not claiming it ; he then seemed to deny that I lived in Westminster and told me that I should go to my local authority in South West London (?) When I said it was westminster he stretched his mouth as in a gesture to say "mmmmmm really?" He either thought I was lying or wrong ! Thankfully the gentleman sitting at the desk stepped in to say ; yes , this postcode is westminster; and had seen on the computer that I have been using a disabled card before AND my address is in Westminster, however the guy helping with my enquiry didn't even apologise; he just looked indignant ,I was told that because I didn't have a PiP form I was only entitled to a rescard swim , I emailed the centre to complain and I got a fast response back from a lady called Louise wanting more detail as to what happened , I messaged back and heard nothing so far ...not exactly the welcome I was expecting from a leisure centre, even if the matter is rectified ; I don't know if I want to go back
I'm giving 3 stars for the nice guy at the reception desk
h.
