Reviews of Nuffield Health Shoreditch Fitness & Wellbeing Gym
W. A.
I’ve been a member for a couple of months and have had a really good experience. I avoid peak times and enjoy an almost empty gym
R. D.
For me it has everything I need from a gym - clean, decent equipment, pool, sauna, steam and nice showers. For the area you will not find a gym with all this for the price of the membership!
T. K.
went here for the first time and won’t go back, pool was crowded, spa facilities were all full of guys and the whole pool + spa area was too testosterone heavy (I was the only female in the whole area). also u need your own padlock for the lockers, and the costume dryer was out of order, generally felt a bit shabby / unloved

Great staff who are always very welcoming and friendly. The gym is generally very clean and the equipment has just been updated which is great. However, there could be more space for just doing stretching/free weights etc., although space generally is somewhat lacking so understand that there isn't much of this.
The changing rooms could feel slightly more high end given how much the membership is per month - they recently got rid of body lotion dispensers which is annoying and the body wash is anything but luxe.
The pool is really big, especially given how compact the rest of the gym is, and definitely my most-used part of the gym and is generally not as busy as the gym floor. I haven't used the steam room or sauna but they are a nice addition. There are also a good amount of different classes with great instructors, and it isn't impossible to get a space like some other gyms.

I’m so glad to have been introduced to this gym by this lovely little South American girl that works there. I got a one day free pass to try out and was shown around the place. It’s clean with a large swimming pool, sauna and steam room spa facilities! The gym is well equipped and there’s a lot of workout support personalised to individual needs. Least to mention unlimited fitness classes I can attend at time that suits me! I’m now a very happy member! Highly recommended!

The staff at the club are very friendly and helpful. The club itself is quite 'compact', with a small and busy gym and a cupboard sized spinning room. That being said, there is everything you need here. There is a 25 meter pool which doesn't get too busy in the mornings and if you are smart with your work outs you can make your way around the gym without too much waiting time. All the facilities are fairly new and to a good standard. The one glaring issue is that huge lack of bicycle parking, but you can get around this by parking on a nearby street without too much inconvenience.

This is a lovely clean gym with friendly, helpful staff, a beautiful (chlorine free!) pool, good changing facilities (hairdryers and straighteners in the ladies) and a great class timetable. It can get quite busy at peak times which is to be expected, but membership is based on a strict 'maximum capacity' system so that the gym is never over subscribed; as such I have never had issues booking into classes or getting a locker. The crowd here are also quite friendly, unpretentious and it's not an intimidating environment to exercise in. My only gripe is that it can get horribly warm in the cardio section and would benefit from a more aggressive use of air conditioning; other than that it's a great, friendly gym!

I have been going to this gym for many years(from back in its market sports days ) the staff are a very fun motivating bunch which take there services seriously. Any feedback given is acknowledged. The cleanliness of the premises is spot on. New equipment, New Pool. Sauna. Steam room. Spin studio. Classes, personal training with great personal trainers and Studio hire should you need it. There are a number of options all in one place. And once again Really Great staff 🤗

Visited Nuffield with a day pass ('pay as u gym' app - £13). When I arrived, the process was quick and easy, I merely gave my code and I was sent through, however, it cost me an extra £6 in the process as I didn't have a lock (my fault I know).
The gym is extremely small, perhaps a 1/4 of the size of Fitness First, Liverpool St Station, which is in its own right known to be a smaller sized gym. The free weights section has everything you'd desire and so to does the machine weights area. However, if you're like me and you like your space to skip or indeed lift weights, then you're better off elsewhere.
In terms of price, I believe that a monthly contract is around £70 - £80. I believe this pricing is of course mainly for the brand name and the swimming pool. If you like swimming as I do, then obviously it's a great addition. However, for the price per month, the gym isn't worth it. You're better off becoming a member of the multitude of Fitness Firsts scattered around Shoreditch/Liverpool Street or if you're desperate for the pool, signing up to Virgin Active Broadgate. Would have been 4 stars if the price was £50! Apologies for waffling on, just like to give my opinion!
PS, this may have just been my experience but all members that were present on the day seemed incredibly rude with no social aspect to the gym whatsoever. Opened the door for a couple of members with no response. If you're new to the gym it may perhaps be an intimidating atmosphere.

Agree with all of the above reviews, I have been a member for about 8 years on and off and really liked the friendly local atmosphere where people said Hello to you when you arrive. Its such as shame to see that its gone down hill after being taken over by Nuffield Health which seems really orientated towards offering additional expensive health services rather than focusing on the primary function of being a gym. The good PT's have mostly left although I have yet to deal with new guys very much so they could be great. The changes since the ownership change have been a nightmare, the class booking system has been changed about 3 times each with no communication to members which is clearly possible as Nuffield are able to send out 'customer satisfaction surveys'. I have passed on feedback to the gym and there have been improvements however I fear that it has once and and for all lost that friendly local feeling.

Great club with a full range of facilities, ranging from brand new free weights and fixed weights to a cardio suite. 25 metre pool, new sauna and steam room as well as over 70 classes a week. The team are warm and welcoming making going to the gym fun

Not the biggest gym, but never feels too crowded! Great selection of studio classes (strength, yoga, pilates, etc) and spin classes. Classes get full quickly which can be frustrating, so it's best to remember to book in early! Friendly and helpful staff. Clean facilities.

Probably the best gym I have used in London. I even write a few articles about them. Google "Emmanuel Ray Market Sports" and you'll see them.
Trainers Lucian Comiza and Earl Cottrell were brilliant. Exceptional service and very skilled.
I wrote about them and told everyone I knew how good they were. Lucian was promoted to The Fitness Mosaic in Chalk Farm. The manageress of Market Sports at the time, took him with her when she left.
Earl was poached by Virgin Gyms and paid 3 times what he was getting at Market Sports! Bizarrely, this has happened before to people I have written about and commented on how good they are. My friends sat I have the Midas touch! But it works for those who come into contact with me! I hope it works in reverse next time.
Market Sports is exactly what's gym should be like. Compact, clean, straightforward and simple, with friendly staff and nice people. The classes are great too. Steam room and chlorine free pool, sauna etc. I've never spotted a fleck of dirt. Clean.
Ben the manager certainly does a good job, although he could be a bit more efficient with communication. A studio with Pilates machines would be great but I guess that's asking for too much in a limited space. The instructors, Pilates and Yoga were brilliant.
I might actually go back here again. If you're new to the area, give Market Sports a go.

Pros: they pack a lot into a small space, it's good value for money, you can use the other Nuffield Health clubs (there's at least two in the centre of town) and Paula's Tuesday Pilates classes are amazing
Cons: It can get really busy - there's often a wait for running machines and the changing rooms are often packed and much too hot. It seemed like stuff was often out of order (toilets, running machines, swimming pool) when I was a member
D. L.
Great but small gym.
Great staff, good choice of classes and facilities. Small gym though, does get VERY crowded around peak times, having to wait for machines/benches etc.
K. B.
Great location, love the pool and steam room, friendly staff, clean, good selection of equipment and a good cross-section of the community. Well maintained and the atmosphere is also good - sometimes it can be intimidating with everyone being cool and pretentious but happily not the case here.
N. J.
Very happy with this gym. Even though space is limited they are allow striving to maximise the space. The staff are lovely and polite.
I get a lot out of my gym

Well located gym in Shoreditch with friendly, helpful staff. They have a 25m pool, which is great for Central London!
V. C.
good equipment, nice pool and steam bath. Unfortunately, it's often overcrowded and smelly. Booking a class was usually very difficult.
T. P.
Good local gym. Ideal if you work nearby however it's quite expensive considering how small and busy it is
