Reviews of PureGym London Finsbury Park
P.
So far been 2 years with puregym Finsbury Park and loving it. For those who feel inferior to work out in the masculine area.. they have a woman only section .. but overal the gym is great.
They are open 24 hour which is a great plus.
A. S.
Nice gym,no complaints about space, running spaces are on a different floor compared to the weights which is good to maintain focus. As someone who loves night training and has regularly gone to the gym for 15 nights straight I really appreciate the use of being able to be clean after each session. On average I spend roughly 3 hours in the gym and it having space to be focused on my workouts is so important.

Great place to workout, just check on your app, to find less busy times. The cleaner comes around very often carrying out his duties.
M. L.
A friendly gym run by a dedicated team. Clean, and a safe environment with plenty of cardio equipment to use. Good weight machines and feels roomy on two floors. Great that it’s open twenty four hours. Plenty of hand sanitiser and spray to use. Relaxed and value for money.

Gym is ok but most members do not put weights back in its place they are just left on floor but other than that it's good
A. N.
I sill do love this gym but the aircon could be better. Other than than that they have everything what a good session requires 😌
just a few days later the aircons are cleaned :) thank you so much guys for the fast action!

It's my favourite gym. Perfectly designed, lots of equipment, different rooms (there is one room exclusively for girls) and always electric energy at any time of the day. I love that you get flavoured water with vitamins with the subscription (there are different subscriptions to choose from) and there are even massage chairs.
M. G.
Cheap, good quality gym with good facilities. Staff and classes are great too, particularly with PT Aysun leading, she is enthusiastic, provides great advice on correct technique, and bonds well with the class.
Showers could be cleaner, but overall a great gym.

Been going to the Finny P location for the last year since I moved to the UK. On the plus side, there is a decent selection of weights and machines, and anything that breaks gets fixed quickly. On the downside, it gets very busy at peak times and there will often be lineups for various pieces of equipment. This was annoying before COVID, but the pandemic has changed the game.
Pure's idea of "safety measures" include providing disinfectant wipes that every other half-decent gym already had anyway, hand sanitizer, and blocking off some equipment to encourage social distancing. The problem is that Pure's business model (i.e. cramming as many people into the gym at one time as possible) directly conflicts with the need to socially distance. Additionally, some equipment (specifically, various handles for the cable machines) have disappeared since the re-opening, although I'm not really sure how that's going to help with "safety protocols."
The only other real issue I have is typical of any gym: The meatheads who leave their equipment lying around everywhere and expect that the staff will clean up after them. This is not Pure's fault, obviously.
Overall, I give the Finny P location a 3/5. It's very reasonably priced for London with a student discount, especially when paying the whole year up front. Has everything you need for a basic gym with no frills. Gets busy at peak times so be prepared to wait. Probably advisable to still wear a mask, given the crowds.
Thanks for the gainz, PG.

Small gym but it is in the middle of finsbury.
Plenty of benches and weights and lots of machine variety
K. W.
It felt weird being inside again, but an absolute positive to come out of this whole situation is they have finally spaced people out in the studio. This is what I wanted before the pandemic, as classes were always utter chaos and felt like we were on top of one another. I hope it stays that way honestly.
I was super anxious to be exercising after a long break but the instructor was very understanding which helped a lot.
M. M.
Have to say its pretty well equipped and I don't feel overly self conscious here, they are a friendly bunch getting on with working out plenty cleaning stations(if you concerned about c19) and distancing partitions for the treadmills is weirdly keeping me very focused.
N. O.
I recently changed to this gym. It's a good gym to go to, everyone stays to themselves and no one bothers you. I like how there are different rooms for cardio and weights.
C. S.
Decent gym for the price you pay.
But it needs a big improvement in the lockers room: more space, more lockers and better quality lockers! They are just not enough for so many people and I've seen people, an myself, struggling with the lockers key.
d.
Generally ok... but if feels like Puregym doesn't care about the general maintenance of the Finsbury Park branch. Things stay broken for weeks at a time. Some even longer
A. G. U.
Best gym ever been.I love Finsbury park gym.
M. A.
Pros: 1. It's open 24/7. 2. If I need the staff they're always helpful. 3. Can nearly always get squats done (obviously at peak times getting anything done is tricky. But that's the same for almost any gym chain these days). 4. Close to home 5. Cheaper than my closest leisure centre
Cons: 1. It's a little small in my opinion but I have had to train literally from one end of this country to the other because of work. Space in London isn't cheap. 2. Some other users are incapable of putting their weights away. As someone who does (having seen what can happen when you don't...) - it annoys the hell out of me. 3. The ambient music especially for classes is so loud sometimes I can hear it with headphones clamped on
More pros: Being slightly annoyed means I train harder
J. J.
It's an alright gym. You have to plan your visit carefully, because if you go In peak times, you won't have much luck getting a machine. The resistant weights are normally full of blokes chatting as well, so you won't have much luck getting on them!
There is a small ladies only section, which is quite nice if you're using the gym late at night. However you'll never see a member of staff in there.
The locker room is TINY. No matter what you will always be in someone's way, impossible to get changed.
Never done a class because it is always full....Just avoid that Pure Loser course. You'll only lose 20pounds in Sterling. One PT literally spent an hour just telling me how wonderful coconut oil was.
Massively over subscribed gym. I would happily pay double if they limited their memberships.
L. M.
The gym here is fairly large and well-stocked with cardio machines, dumbbells and weights. The layout is a little peculiar but, once you've explored, you'll find plenty of space to exercise and likely the machine you desire. The only real shortage that I have noticed is squat racks, of which there are 4 (one of which doubling as a board for Olympic lifting); these get very congested during peak times. When busy the gym is very full and you will have to wait for equipment or be forced to be creative with your workout.
C. D.
There’s a decent selection of different machines. There is a lot of treadmills and bike machines considering the size of this gym. It’s a shame that the resistance area is so small. There’s only one leg press and around 2 of each of the other machines. Sometimes you have to wait for people. Showers are dirty but the locker room is clean. I go around 8am to 10am and it’s not that busy.
K. B.
I go to this gym regularly and really enjoy it. I’ve never had to wait for any machines since it’s so big. There’s always lockers available too. I really like that they have a woman’s only area but I do wish they had better air circulation because it gets really stuffy.
A. A.
Great clean gym.
Friendly Instructors that know their stuff, but most importantly they care about how the sessions work for the clients.
They are also good at motivating you and making you feel at ease, whilst pushy you to your extreme.
Their pricing is not bad either.
S. J.
I have been now on 7 occasions at various times on different days and I can honestly say that it was never too busy. Admittedly I haven't visited during 18:00-20:00 but given the sheer number of machines/equipment, I imagine there would always be something available to use during peak times. It is all very new and modern, the A/C is nice and as a student the price is very fair. Having read many negative reviews prior to joining I have been very pleasantly surprised by the gym.
M. R. A.
The gym is good but feels a bit impersonal to me. Staff were friendly and all, but I don't think people who come here come to socialize. Having said that, this was my first impression, only been here on a day trial. Class I took, 'bums, tums and legs' was pretty hardcore!! If all you want is sweat, maybe this gym works for you.
C. B.
Great location as it's right next to bus stops and Finsbury Park station so its easy to get to. It's 24hr and you can come and go as you please. Good range of equipment on each floor. There's also a ladies only room in the gym which has some equipment in there. Friendly staff and great value for money.
M. B.
Decent gym, has a good selection of equipment for weight training. Only downer is how busy it can get and the amount of swines who don't put away their weights or leave rubbish around. Staff do their best to keep the place tidy though!
M. M.
Friendly helpful staff but the gym is full of all the wrong sorts causing trouble and being verbally aggressive. Staff should be more cautious of who they're letting in. Feel too intimidated to maintain this as my home gym so will look elsewhere.
J. L.
Big gym, very easy access. Strange lay out over 2.5 floors. Locker rooms look a bit dated now and feel a bit cramped. Missing some equipement like boxes and some of the cable machines are unique (no duplicates, despite popularity).
M.
The gym itself is okay. There’s a decent amount of equipment and a ladies only area which is nice. The highlight is the staff. They’re incredibly helpful and caring. I had a breathing issue in one of Dayane Del Ballo’s class which she noticed and came to check on me. Great prices, great service, good gym. I would recommend!
i. a.
Nice gym, but the mat on the floor is not suitable for a place that is used by hundreds of people. If the floor was from a material that was easy to clean, it would have been much better.
E. M.
Great vibes and always a peaceful place too workout and relief the stress
B. A.
Not the best equipment and gym layout overall but pretty nice anyway, it's busy of course, it's a gym guys, there's gyms with memberships for £45+ and they are not so busy. Obviously for the prices and the location it's really good for what it is, spacious too and it was cute that me and my partner were instantly welcomed on our first visit from the manager, it felt really good :) Would recommend and will continue to go there
M. S.
This gym should work on hygiene. I was here a few times this winter and I got sick the morning after every visit. When it is high flu season they should have hand sanitizer in most of the gym area but they don't. You will find one at the door on the way out which is always empty. The reason why I gave the three stars is that because you have equipment that always works but to get 5 stars you should something about hygiene.
F. G.
Really friendly staff, plenty of equipment and its quite clean when its not too crowded.
Artur is a great personal trainer who is realistic and communicative. I've never enjoyed going to the gym, but now I love it!
V. P.
Good gym, easy to access at all hours and very good monthly membership rate. Downside is that they do not have enough equipment to cope with deman during peak hours (i.e. after work hours, between 17:00 and 19:00 tmits impossible to use equipment without having to wait in line). Another downside is that they do not enforce the rule of 'put your weights away after you use them' which makes the place really messy on a busy day. Otherwise its a perfect, everyday use gym for people who are just trying to stay fit or newcomers to the whole exercise/gym lifestyle.
J. P.
It's okay. It gets Exetremely busy though, until about after 9pm.
The locker rooms are small, so you end up in somebodies way getting to a locker, plus I don't trust that it will not get broken into.
The layout is confusing as well. Not the best gym, probably overpriced for what it is, considering the prices other similar gyms charge.
Y. F.
Hard to find someone to ask questions but otherwise 24 hr opening and lots of classes to indulge in. The gym is fully equipped and has loads equipments and accessories to use. Classes are very popular and full.
j. i.
Only problem was there was no one to speak to in the office.
M. A.
Thanks for keeping the locker room and showers open during the early mornings of these Ramadan nights. I’m coming here regularly during the early hours and have seen many of my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters training and using your facilities after keeping fast all day. Much appreciated!
P. B.
Pros
Love the 24hr service really helps me use my membership at whatever time I can make it. The ladies section is great as late at night it feels a little like a boys club.
Good range of basic equipment. No towels unless you pay so bring your own including something to wipe down equipment.
I like the YouTube channel as a way tp put together workouts. Staff aren't on site or if they are theyre not visible or helpful.
Cons
Cleanliness/hygeine - Need wipes/tissues on gym floor to wipe down equipment. This is provided in most other gyms and necessary here as no one wipes down equipment!
A lot of hogging of equipment which is intimidating & limits accessibility for others. Puregym Staff could look to introduce guidelines which prevents this
The women changing room access is never locked EXCEPT after midnight (to 5am) & then you can't use your code to access. Why isn't it locked during the day? I mean even if you have CCTV it only takes one male to walk into cloackroom/showers.

Good things:
- 24/7
- cheap
- classes
- no contract
Bad things:
- Doesn't matter what time you go, it's always going to be totally packed. Seriously, even a weekday at 10pm
- Changing rooms are super smelly
- The free weights area is a total mess, nobody puts them back in place after use so good luck trying to find a specific weight!
c. g.
nice small gym with new equipment but sadly not enough for you to be able to work out at the pace you want, with only 1 free standing bench press bench and 1 lat pull down machine you will be left standing waiting or feel pressured to finish by others waiting. plus be interrupted by there instructors who will commandeer the machine from you while your using it for who ever they are doing an induction for a better choice is easy gym woodgreen where theres 7 of each so you can work out even at the peak times.
T. C.
All the time I went there are not over crowded and dirty at all. The changing room and drinking water area are clean and the equipments are workable and good quality. 24 hours open is also another plus! It's also really close to finsbury park station and bus stop!
M. S.
A bit messy but really liked this gym ! Lots of equipment and the new refurbishment looks great! Only 4 out of 5 because sadly members seem unable to return weights to the right areas so is a bit messy but love the gym.
P. B.
This is an OK gym, but not as good as the Pure Gym in Oval. Pure Gym is a good option when you are a temporary guest in London as it is possible to pay for day passes online. Finsbury Park is a busy gym, often stuffed with ppl. The equipment is not of the newest kind, but it's functional.
S. C.
It's such a confusing gym with corridors everywhere. But I love they have a ladies only area. I wish there was a bit more weights equipment there.
C. M.
This is a pretty good gym if you can avoid it during peak times. There's a good range of equipment and it generally all seems to be working quite well. The ladies area is really tiny but a nice addition that not many other budget gyms bother with. It would be nice if they could put a functional trainer in there instead of the abductor & adductor machines that nobody bothers to use though. I also avoid the classes here and go to the Holloway Road one instead as I find the training styles a little bit aggressive and bootcamp-like.
The only thing I find really annoying in here is that all the TV's play music videos and nothing else. It would be nice if they could put on some actual TV programmes instead. The music they play in all of the gyms is really dire and repetitive but that's easily remedied with a pair of earphones. It's boring to watch half dressed women grinding on TV all the time.
C. P.
Gets the basics right and has helpful staff. However, the experience feels cheap - sweaty equipment, crowded basic classes. Good value for someone that just needs some equipment and 24h, and for someone that is lokking for the basic classes without spending too much
T. J.
Nice large space with good amount of equipment. Classes are available, be sure to book in advance as some classes fill up quick. During peak times equipment becomes little scarce and occasionally untidy. Planning ahead defo helps.
M. R.
Customer service agent should be available to help as long it opening hours.
A. B.
Great gym,always open,friendly staff.
I really enjoy the morning yoga session with new girl Lauren. A perfect way to start the day, balancing and mobilising the body.
