Reviews of PureGym London Wall
K. I. (.
This is the better branch of the pure gyms. It's not too big and sometimes can get a bit crowded. But has all the essential equipments. But doesn't provide resistance bands and the equipments are made for men only. Benches are too high for me. Pull up bars are too thick.
S. S.
Great gym for working peeps. Good sized lockers to keep your suit on a hanger that is provided. Towels are there. Overall good quality and not extremely populated.
K. A.
The best Puregym I've visited. Midweek after work it wasn't overwhelmed with patrons. There is a good selection of equipment that is well spaced out. The staff even do things like put weights back on the racks on the occasions gym goers forget / can't be bothered to. The nicest Puregym I've visited to date
m.
On Saturdays and Sundays, the gym is fairly quiet at its right in the heart of the city. On week days, it's so busy. Right after work finishes, the gym is packed out. There's queues for machines, weights space.
There's plenty of weights and machines to use. The free weights are pretty much always in the right place. Then gym is clean as the the changing rooms, showers and toilets.
There's drinks machines selling water and protein shakes just after the entrance. As well as free towels.
When going via the lifts, there's no sign saying where the gym is. It's LG2!
L. S.
i often us the gym at lunchtimes, the gym equipment is good, the staff are friendly, the only thing i would say if the people that use equipment during this pandemic should clean things down more themselves as the station are there for us, this is not a reflection on the gym just the people using it.
N. M.
Trained here after work in the late afternoon/early evenings when it was peak traffic and quite busy, but a great environment and a good range of equipment.
J. K.
Cheap gym but still well maintained, good equipment and not too crowded.
G. H.
Went on a Sunday morning, nice quiet, neat and tidy gym with everything in its place lots of racks and free weights.
Changing rooms clean and tidy and loads of clean fresh towels however, the showers are some of the worst in any gym I’ve been in luke warm and on such a short timer that it’s impossible to clean yourself without constantly restarting the shower.
N.
The equipment is very good for its price in the city. In the evenings the gym does get very hot especially for winter. It would be nice if you had barbell pads there and ban thoese members who do not throw their towel away.

Been a member of PureGym London Wall for just over 2 months and I’m really impressed with their facilities. By far the cheapest gym this location but, still has quality equipment and classes. The app is fantastic for tracking your gym time and web shows you how many people are in the gym when you log in, which is an amazing feature for avoiding a busy gym floor.
The cardio area is good however. Some machines are very much tucked away in a corner without good air conditioning, so tends to get hot and a little bit smelly.
The weights section is fantastic but does get busy very quickly. Everyone is very polite however, which helps when you are sometimes shoulder to shoulder in a smaller area.
The changing rooms are spacious with more than enough showers. They are basically but most definitely do the job.
Overall, I’d highly recommend PureGym London Wall if you’re looking for a reasonably priced, no frills (no sauna/pool), friendly gym!
J. P.
Free towels!! It makes a massive difference for me. Not having to deal with wet towels is only available on gyms for at least twice the price. It gets busy and all that like any other gym.
-- UPDATE --
I'm afraid I have had to revise my review to 3 stars because it's getting very busy to the point where there have been sessions where more popular machines/areas have two people in it constantly. Hopefully they can monitor the busiest machines and get more of those.
D. J. L.
One of my better PureGym experiences. The space itself is great and clean, while PTs Emma and Jerry were super helpful getting me set up on a WattBike. I'll be visiting this one again.
S. D.
Great gym..fantastic staff..so clean.
N. S.
Plenty of equipment, 24hr so come at the right time and the place is nice and quiet. Staff friendly and helpful.
A. G.
Great quality gym for the price. They offer towels and soap unlike most other pure gyms. Staff are always helpful.
However,
Showers were broken for far too long without being fixed !
Can be busy between 7-9am.
T. M.
Exactly what it says on the tin. Good weights area, likewise with cardio area. Always clean, friendly staff and has towells which is a good bonus for a pure gym. Overall good set up - no complaints based on the price
K. M.
Various and well maintained equipment
Sometimes too crowded
P. A.
Really well run gym which is 2 floors underground so the air is a bit recycled, but other than that it's amazing. It's also pretty busy even in the mornings when I go. Staff are super helpful and friendly, classes are great. Love it!
N. A.
out of the 3 i use this is the nicer, lunch times are manic but still plenty of space
the gym offers free towels, but makes me laugh how customers are able to lift heavy weights but unable to lift a wet towel to place it in the towel baskets. manors cost nothing, the staff are there to help you not to be servants
K. S.
Being in such a busy area this pure gym is a bit small. Monday is forever my leg day because it's the only day I can reliably get a squat rack or deadlift platform. Not sure there's much that can be done, but even in the so called "functional training" room people just spill in to stretch as there's also very little floor space. Go in prepared to be flexible with the exercises you want to do and you'll be ok. Free towels is a nice touch at least.
k. m.
Huge below ground level gym in heart of the city, found staff very helpful and friendly with high standard of hygiene..
A. R.
Good gym overall (several squat racks, a lot of free benches) but a seated calves machine (the one with bent knees not the straight legs one already there) would be needed and a proper inclined abs bench, not the kind they have that hurts everybody's lower back (very bad design). Happy to be contacted by PureGym to explain.
P. A.
EDITED REVIEW: I'm doing this since they changed from LAX to PureGym, the pool was removed to add more floor space so there are plenty of machines but it is ALWAYS really busy (even really early or late) and the quality of the machines went down after replacement. Staff either seen disinterested or want to sell you on their PT work, the pod entry is annoying as hell add nobody is around to help if you have problems... It's useful if you want to work out without a plan, but don't expect to get free equipment during any of the expected busy times
J. T.
I like this gym, is big, has better weights compared to other LA FITNESS. Is always clean; however, I would avoid this gym in rush hour...is way too crowded and no enough space to work out bc there's too many people.
M.
Not bad, it's only got 1 bench press which is daft, but plenty of free benches and several squat racks. Dumbells up to 50 which is reasonable.
The staff try and keep it clean but during peak times the shower floors get very dirty very quickly, wear flip flops!
Sadly it is rammed with city worker mummy's boys who despite their regular attendance still can't bench 100kg or run a mile and half....which I guess is a result of spending more time blow drying their hair and moisturising than actually training....seriously the men's changing rooms are more like a branch of L'oreal than a gym locker. As a consequence the changing rooms are rammed immediately before and after work with people milling about taking 8 minute showers and leaving kit spilling across an entire changing rack. Then once their beauty regimen is complete they leave their wet towel(s) strewn about instead of dropping them in the towel bins provided. Don't worry mate mummy always cleaned up for you before, I'm sure someone will pick up your mess for you now as well.
Similarly re racking the weights is a poorly maintained discipline, luckily the disorder decreases as you go up the KGs and anything above 40 is normally still where it should be.
Edit: the gym contacted me to suggest I was less disparaging of other members. I honestly did think about my remarks until I saw the attached photo the next day. The pile of towels is under the sign that says there is alternative towel drop bins ON THE WAY OUT, about 10 yards further towards the door. Yet this is the behaviour you get. A PT who trained and studied to help people get the most from excercise and movement appeared shortly after to gather up towels. I'm sure if he wanted to work in a launderette that is the job he would have applied for.
D. B.
Excellent Gym. Close to my office, enough machines for weight lifting, wide range of classes, swimming pool, clean facilities, and great staff which is by no doubt its best asset: Carmen, Billy, Lola, Josh... Most of them are young, great people with a passion for sport.
I only hope it can keep their staff after all the merging and change of ownership the corporate is going through, it'd be disappointing otherwise.
K. K.
Pros: Recently refurbished. Cheap when set against other City gyms. Offers clean towels. Free wi-fi (needed since there is no cellular reception). Premises spread across one level
Cons: Gym area super packed during mornings (07:00 to 08:30). Don't know about evenings. Changing area has too few benches and is not spacious enough to serve pick time needs. Number of shower rooms is too low for membership size. The gym is relatively low-ceilinged and located 2-levels below ground
E.
I've been going to this location since it was LA Fitness back in 2011, 2012? and have seen it go through quite a few changes. It's my home gym (actually, my work gym) and i'm so used to this gym, for better or for worse, it's the one i go to the most. Completely functional and maximised - it has to be, given the volume of City people - but it truly can accommodate a LOT of people given it's functional use of space. Yes, at peak hours it can be very busy and full - but it is 24 hours and it's very convenient. Great, personable trainers and staff. My complaints are that it is very underground so there is no wifi signal / data service and the O2 "free wifi" service they offer is so weak that it is almost as bad as not having a signal in the first place. One more small complaint is more towards the clientele occasionally and the odd person who doesn't understand the unspoken rules of gym etiquette - don't block line of sight, don't interrupt a set and ask your question after, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, re-rack, etc. But that's every gym.
W. G.
Good gym with decent amount of machines and free weights with spun class and studios. Also bonus is very quiet now during covid but can get crazy busy during normal hours.
J. K.
Very good gym with plenty of classes and professional trainers as well as clean and lovely facilities. You can choose from Fixed Strength, Cardio or Free weights or find the combination of all that works out mostly for you. Finally, unlike other gyms, in here, the membership is quite accessible.
R.
Good gym in terms of equipment and towels are provided but it's way too busy compared to other PureGyms in central London that I have been too, it seems to be oversubscribed.
D. J.
Great space, clean, variety of equipment, the gym provide towels for free as well which is not like other Puregym’s
B. B.
Gets really busy between 6-8 am, but if you can get there after 8, you should be fine with plenty machines to choose from. Towel service included with reasonably clean showers.
J. H.
Decent gym with pool at reasonable prices for the area. Don't expect anything too glam but it's functional and they do a range of decent classes. Gets very busy at lunch times especially in January.
L. M.
Lots of equipment, plenty of lockers and fresh towels. However, no phone signal and the WiFi there is terrible (So save any music offline in advance). The classes there have all been entertaining and a good quality.
D. D.
Despite the bad reviews I joined LAX London Wall last month.
Given that it is in the middle of the city I expected the gym area to be quite small, but it's a reasonable size, and there's a decent amount of equipment (weights and cardio). I can imagine it gets very busy at rush hour, but I never go at rush hour, so that's not a problem for me. My membership covers LAX St. Botolph's too so if I really need some leg room I can get it.
Pros:
* Two squat racks; two sets of dumbells up to 50kg; incline and decline benches
* Swimming pool
* Plenty of space if you don't go at rush hour
* 1 year's membership paid upfront was cheaper than Fitness First Tier 3 multiclub
* Open at weekends
Cons:
* Could do with newer cardio equipment
* The dumbells are never in the right place. Ever. I don't know what's wrong with the people who use the gym, but you have to go orienteering to find the other dumbell.
* No water fountain on the gym floor.
G. H.
Have been training at LAX for a few weeks now, all the staff are very friendly and helpful. I was recommended to train with a Personal Trainer Daniel Howard, he has completely changed my perception of training in the gym. I now look forward to every session, time goes really quickly and I come out feeling amazing.
I have used personal trainers for the last 15 years and I never found anyone so easy to train with. Daniel encourges you to eat well and train, while living the City lifestyle, I never thought that was possible until now!! I can't recommend Daniel highly enough, he is worth every penny.
J. G.
Great gym. All the equipment you could need. It does get very busy at times though so make sue you pick your time carefully.
R. G.
Decent gym with nice range of equipment, aircon, Wi-fi, and towels. Unfortunately the women's change rooms are smelly and the showers rather sub-standard.
G. B.
All new equipments so all good, pretty spacious.
It's in lower ground 2, hence no phone signals. O2 Wi-fi is now in place which at least gives you data connectivity.
Sauna is missing in this price.
No Corporate discounts.
N. C.
Price wise great been here since it was LA Fitness. Lot busier now so can be abit touch and go with timings. Morning is madness lunch is starying to get bad again best time still is 2 to 4 weekdays.
T. M.
Gym equipment has improved massively and the space is great, but showers / changing rooms are left uncleaned and are disgusting during busy hours! Needs to be resolved ASAP.
J. R.
LAX London Wall is a great, conveniently located, and very friendly gym. I have to say one AMAZING perk has to be the referral scheme. I referred one of my colleagues in February and this week I received an e-mail saying I won an iWatch for referring! I picked it up yesterday! Incredible
J.
Towels and shower gel for forty quid a month is pretty unheard for the city. Much better than old La Fitness, although no pool and sauna
P. S.
Basic but does the job. Suggest they move the towel bin into the men's changing room as people just leave towels all over it. Amazing value for money in the centre of London though.
G. I.
Not bad for the price. Good equipment, great location. Crammed with people at peak times and the showers can be dirty. I saw a small worm in a shower once, moving around on the floor.
H. P.
Good for the price and love that you get free towels. The showers could be cleaner and the gym layout can be confusing when you're new.
L. T.
Clean, lots of equipment, lots of space, free towels, friendly staff, a lift. What more could you ask for.
N. A.
Staff and manager were vey helpful in finding some lost property. Yes its crowded at peak times, shower area can get really dirty but for the price its amazing value for money in the city.
L. S. W.
Fantastic gym with excellent customer service. Very close to my workplace and has everything I need. Staff member Derrick was especially helpful, helping me with training techniques although a member of management.
E. C.
Packed and at the floor -3. Feels like rats inside. Unusable at peak hours, almost dangerous with everyone managing weights a few cm from your feet or walking around with weights. To only be use out of peak hours
P. R.
I have been a member of this club for a long time and really enjoy it. I like the range of classes on offer and try and do at least two a day. The staff and manager are very helpful and friendly and I often work out on my own or with members.
Great place and great staff
D. S.
Sion leyshon I can not recommend a member of staff called sion leyshon enough. He helped me when my PIN number wouldn’t work and his customer service was brilliant. Makes the gym much more enjoyable to see a friendly member of staff 🙂
J. G.
Decent quality equipment and at a reasonable price. Staff are usually friendly and helpful. Good budget gym for the City.
V. J.
Good gym, but the showers and changing rooms are dirty. I shower at the office, then it’s fine.
T. C.
Decent gym, reasonably priced. Doesn't get too busy (though I tend to try to avoid peak-lunch time.
J. P.
Bring a good jacket even in the middle of summer!!!! It’s like being in Alaska!!!
J. C.
Well equipped gym, but small for membership size. Go early or in the middle of the day. It’s very busy by 0730.
S. E.
Nice and big, plenty of equipment, showers great for cheeky Post-workout liasons.
T. F.
Amazing Gym, Great Equipment (olympic wieght lifting platform is fabulous), very spacious, and they even have Complimentary towels (^-^) !!!
J. G.
Ok gym but small on 3 levels and for premium Puregym price you would expect something more than standard
D. S.
Can be very busy during peak but a decent gym if you want only to use the gym.
J. E.
Nice gym. Lots of machines. Very helpful staff! Sean was very helpful in finding my keys!!!
S. M.
Equipment and hygiene 10 out of 10. Lots of space super COVID secure
J. F.
I expected this to be a typical City gym - impersonal and cold. I was pleasantly surprised by the fitness manager Steffi who was extremely welcoming. I will visit again
H. d.
Loads of equipment - 3 squat racks, a weightlifting platform with bumper plates, lots of dumbbells, machines, cardio equipment, kettlebells, etc - only downside is it gets very very busy
O. F.
Good local city gym. Can get packed some times..But good equipments
I. M.
It like how everything is planned inside what helps to make the most of my workout. Equipment is okay, steam rooms, swimming pool and they give towels.
z. o.
Good gym. Good selection of machines A glurlte bridge machine and would have been 5 stars.
H. S.
I am very into my looks. I visit the salon every month to keep everything nice and clean, The people are very gentle and the end result is really good.
L. H.
Good gym with all your basics, provides towels too which is a bonus.
G. G.
Recently renovated. Nice clean space, good showers etc. Classes can get booked very quickly.
M.
Great, brand new club. It definetely feels like a tier up from your standard pure gym.
J. T.
They're most expensive branch, but I guess it's the location... You do get a towel and soap dispenser in the shower :)
D. A.
Great gym but there is no natural lifgt because it is bellow ground
V. B.
A great club with good facilities, including a pool, steam room and sauna. The staff are very helpful and friendly
A. D.
It is an excellent gym with lots of new equipment, spacious and clean.
J. S.
OK gym but aircon is often down and changing rooms are cramped with too many lockers rented rather than free to use.
D. F.
They look after me here, great staff and good gym. So easy working across the street to pop in
P. W.
One of only 3 puregyms to do towels (Aldgate and South Kensington are the other 2)
J. S.
Good, modern equipment. Changing room and showers okay. Good range of classes.
K. M.
Great gym. The fitness team do fantastic classes at lunchtime and evenings
P. H.
One of the bigger PureGyms in London. 24h open and nice and quiet on the weekend.
E. M.
Good value for money, can get really crowded during peak hours, but it really is the place to get fit in central london.
M. P.
Great location and size, but as expected best to avoid peak times as it obviously fills up
S. G.
Larger pure gym who provide towels. Very busy at lunch time.
M. M.
Good gym one of the manager have no customer services skills though
M. D.
Decent daily/weekly rates for travellers. Everything you want.
