Reviews of Strength Ambassadors - Weightlifting & Powerlifting Club London

I've been attending classes with Strength Ambassadors for a little over a year and cannot recommend them highly enough. The space, coaching team and other attendees are incredibly welcoming, especially if you don't have previous gym or strength training experience. Learning to lift has been a hugely rewarding experience, and Sally and the team have always ensured you're safe and supported, whilst still pushing yourself. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the space and team for anyone interested in strength training, regardless of age or ability.

I’ve been a member of Strength Ambassadors for nearly 6 months and can honestly say it’s been one of the best things I’ve done, particularly if you’re new to weight lifting and not sure where to start. Sally and the team provide a friendly and safe environment where the focus is on long term gains, both in confidence and strength. The gym is welcoming of all ability levels and The Ladies Who Lift class has given me everything I need to feel confident in any gym environment, supported by fabulous coaches.

I heard about Strength Ambassadors by signing up for the Ladies Who Lift workshop. It was a great intro to lifting. I enjoy lifting heavy weights but am always worried about having the right technique. Sally and the coaches at Strength Ambassadors are super supportive, friendly and really encouraging. I’ve always felt really welcome in the sessions and there’s a real community spirit with everyone supporting each other during training. I’d really recommend Strength Ambassadors to anyone wanting to get into lifting whether you are brand new or want to improve on what you already know.

I could not recommend Strength Ambassadors highly enough, especially if you’re a woman looking to get into lifting but you’ve been unsure about or intimidated by other gyms. The Ladies who Lift classes provide wonderful, supportive environments with really helpful 1-1 and small group support from the brilliant coaches. As well as making consistent gains, you’re taught how to lift safely and with proper form and how to set up (and put away!) the equipment you need, so you’ll feel confident in any gym environment. The space is genuinely welcoming of all ages, body types and ability levels. The focus is on empowering you to get strong, lift safely and build a conscious connection with your body. Great equipment, wonderful coaches, inspiring and supportive lifters - get yourself to a class!

I first came to Strength Ambassadors two years ago totally new to weight training and it is one of the best things I have ever done. You won't find a more positive, friendly and supportive gym, whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced lifter you will find a home here. All the coaches are amazing and meet you wherever you're at, helping you get stronger with zero judgement. Equipment is plentiful and really good quality.

I don’t usually like gyms but after some personal training sessions with Sally I felt that I would be comfortable at Strength Ambassadors. I was right and was made welcome from day 1.
The trainers are professional and encouraging, making sure we work on technique, not just ramping up the weight.
The people are friendly and unpretentious making for a fun atmosphere. Go for it!

I came to weightlifting a bit later in life, (I'm 57), so I was quite nervous about how to go about it. The thought of going to a gym on my own was intimidating to say the least and taking on a personal coach looked really expensive. I'm so glad I found Strength Ambassadors. You get access to all the equipment, get properly trained and supervised and also have that extra motivation from training with other people. The coaches are fantastic, although they are training groups of people, they always manage to make it personal. It never ceases to amaze me how much they remember about my weaknesses and triumphs from previous sessions and give me pointers to tackle the shortfalls and build on the strengths to help me progress. The other people who train at both powerlifting and weightlifting are all friendly and supportive. There is definitely an element of competitiveness in the air but its also positive and jovial.
I've been surprised by how much I enjoy the training sessions. I often feel tired beforehand and think I can't manage it but then I go and am always so glad that I did. I started powerlifting and then weightlifting as well because I wanted to improve my muscle mass and bone density as I age, but now, after a year, I think I'd still keep going even without these benefits, its such good fun!

I joined ladies who lift just under a year ago. I'd been lifting weights for a few months on the gym on my own but wasn’t sure if I was doing the lifts correctly. I initially only planned on joining for a few sessions to improve my technique as the location isn’t particularly easy for me. After a few sessions I was hooked and have been coming ever since. The atmosphere is great and everyone is so supportive and help me to lift much more than I can when I train on my own. I was never particularly sporty so finding a way to exercise that I love doing has been fantastic. When I’ve had a bad day at work there is nothing better than coming to the gym and hitting a personal best.
I would really recommend giving it a go!

I would say it is the friendliest Olympic weightlifting club in London.
The instructors are all knowledgeable, friendly and have a huge amount of experience in Olympic weightlifting, Powerlifting and general strength training.
All members are extremely welcoming to new people and especially to beginners. It is a very supportive atmosphere to lift in with everyone wanting you to succeed and progress.
On top of that the equipment is top notch. 4 weightlifting platforms, 3 power racks, a large amount of bumper plates, heavy dumbbells, men’s and women’s Olympic barbells, stretching area, foam rollers, bands, atlas stones, tyres, prowler, sled, kegs and sandbags.

I used to hate exercise. I used to think that to become fit and healthy you had to spend hours on a treadmill. After reading a few articles about the benefits of lifting weights for women, I decided to give it a go but had no idea where to start and the thought of walking into a gym by myself scared the daylights out of me.
I found Strength Ambassadors’ Ladies Who Lift class on the web one night and decided to give it a go. From my first trial session, I was hooked. The classes revolve mainly around squat, bench press or deadlift with lots of other functional accessory lifts and are always varied. The atmosphere is so welcoming, diverse, encouraging and non judgemental. The Ladies completely take over the gym space so it’s not intimidating at all, and you are supervised to make sure every lift is done safely and correctly. Sally, the head coach, has created an amazing culture of female empowerment through Ladies Who Lift.
I’ve been going for 3 years now, have joined the powerlifting team (I’ve competed twice!), I’ve lost 6 stone, but the biggest change in my life is my mindset. I now look forward to exercise and going to “hang out” at the gym with Sally and the girls and am proud of not what my body looks like, but what it can do.
Can’t recommend it enough. It’s was a total game changer for me.

When I first attended Ladies who Lift, I'd never touched a barbell before but Sally and the team introduced me to the basics, grew my confidence, and helped me progress. Soon I was comfortable walking into the weights area of any gym and knew that I could hold my own. By the end of my first year I had even taken part in my first powerlifting competition!
Now I continue to train in West Ham even though I live on the other side of London because of the brilliant people and atmosphere you find in the gym. You'll find olympic weightlifters, powerlifters and strongmen/women in the gym in addition to the Ladies who Lift. I've seen time after time that everyone is welcome, supported and encouraged; I wouldn't have it any other way!

I am a runner who has always been a bit terrified of the weights section of the gym but as I get older I thought I ought to add in some strength training to help with injury prevention. I decided to try the Ladies who Lift sessions at Dulwich and have now been attending for seven months. From the very first trial session everyone was super welcoming and the coaches are so knowledgable and helpful. The atmosphere is fun and supportive and the sense of achievement at mastering a lift, or increasing what you can lift is amazing. I'm totally hooked.

A great local olympic weightlifting and powerlifting club. Definitely worth the money for the sake of high quality coaching and a professional approach to the weightlifting/strength training. I have been attending regular oly classes for over a year and I have been hitting PBs pretty much every couple of months. What I like the most is that you do not need to prepare for your training as everything is done for you and you are getting a lot of attention from the coaches. You will not find silly gym bro "science" here. Plus, it is highly female friendly environment.

Very good practical coaching, enjoyable classes with a friendly, cooperative atmosphere. Gym is well equipped too. Makes you feel confident to lift weights, and it's so good for you!

I was completely new to lifting before this, but Sally and the team made me feel at ease throughout. Always an excellent workout, and the knowledge that has enabled me to go into gyms and use weights confidently now!

Highly recommended! Sally and the coaches are knowledgeable, helpful and positive. The culture is supportive and non judgmental. Give it a go- you won’t be disappointed.

Best dedicated weightlifting club out there, as coach Sally worked around my injuries, so I could advance in the lifts and get stronger than before.
