The gym and trainers here are first-class. From having a big range of equipment to having a trainer who knows me and helps me in my chosen sport has been transformational. Sessions are varied and offer me the opportunity to see results - whether through dropping weight, improving proper technique or through being able to lift / do more! The team feels like a (dysfunctional 😁) family and it makes it a fun place to train every time I go.

Friendly Private Personal Training Gym with amazing equipment and skilled trainers. Hamer Fitness provides a high quality PT experience, with a dedicated private PT gym, with all the equipment you could want. You often have the space to yourself, but even at its most busy there's only 3-4 other clients sharing the space, and more than enough equipment. Jimmy and his team of trainers are friendly and approachable, and extremely knowledgeable. Whatever your training goals, from something very broad to a unique sport or specific event on a certain day, they will help you achieve everything, and tailor your plan to combat any weaknesses you have. This is a great place to train, and everyone is made to feel welcome, whatever your shape and size.

I've been attending Hamer Fitness since 2009. I train one to one with Jimmy (James). Without wanting to oversell the services the guys offer I personally find their approach brilliant and effective. Jimmy is knowledgeable, honest, personable and totally dedicated to getting the best results for his clients. I was 16 stone, drinking too much and eating all the wrong foods. With Jimmy's guidance and at the age of 50 I am 13 stone and last year ran my first ever marathon. With his help and support I've also recovered fully from back surgery and I've never been in better shape. I just couldn't have done this solo or with a trainer I couldn't relate to or didn't respect or get on with. You have to put the work in and the results don't simply happen overnight but if you're serious about reaching your own targets no matter how old and irrespective of your own personal circumstances I really recommend getting in touch with Jimmy and his team.

I’ve been working with Hamer Fitness for around 5 months and would highly recommend them to anyone. My trainer Lewis has been a superb support throughout, offering both training and nutrition advice. He has helped me increase my strength, improve my physique and grow my confidence. The experience has been outstanding from start to finish. Training has been really enjoyable from day one, and hits the perfect balance between being fun yet challenging, and the knowledge and experience of Lewis and all of the personal trainers I’ve spoken to is second to none. The gym itself is an outstanding facility too in a great location for anyone living in and around Sandyford and Jesmond. If you’re looking for professional, experienced and enjoyable personal training then I couldn’t recommend Hamer Fitness more highly.

I’ve had osteoarthritis problems for many years now and at one time Diabetes (Type 2) as well as reaching my heaviest weight at 150kg. I have always trained but the nutrition was not where it should have been (I like my food)....it was time to do something about it. After clearance from the doctor, I joined the local gym which came with a free 30min personal trainer session and after a couple of PT sessions and the PT moving on, she said she would find me another PT! Up steps Mr James Hamer PT and he has literally changed my lifestyle. From day 1 Jimmy’s knowledge shone through. His ability to adapt to each individual with his training styles, training programmes, advice and guidance is second to none. Nothing is to much of a problem for him and he is always happy for you to message or phone him outside of normal training session to answer any questions and he’s always prompt to get back to you! Over the years he has not been just a PT, he has also become a firm friend. Something he does must work………… 8st (50kg) weight loss, Type 2 Diabetes gone, not on any medication and at 60yrs old, stronger, fitter and lighter than I was when I joined the military in 1983. So in a nutshell it comes down to how much you want it.....everything’s there for you, all you’ve gotta do is follow the plan & be consistent. Simples!!! I would recommend Jimmy to anyone, you will not be disappointed……… don’t be a “I’ll start tomorrow” person....what are you waiting for. Thanks Jimmy

Since telling Jimmy 10 years ago I didn’t want to train my arms in case they got big - have I learned a lot!! These guys know what they are doing, knowledgeable, supportive, understanding needs, goals, wants you name it! There is no judgement, clients of all ages, shapes and sizes and great craic!! Jimmy has literally seen me through marriage, births and deaths, training throughout pregnancies and beyond, helping me to maintain fitness and acheive goals I genuinely did not think possible - and all the while helping me stay sane!! 🤪
