Reviews of The Project PT - Small Group Personal Training
S. Y. C.
If you're not sure that the hyper-focus on body image prevalent in most commercial gyms is a good fit for you, this is the right place for you. The Project PT trainers emphasize strength, activity and a healthy mindset and you feel that they genuinely care about you as an individual and not just a client. And they deliver results - I am amazed at how much stronger and comfortable I am in my body with just a few months of training and I'm excited to see what I can do in the coming year. The Project PT is the best gym I've ever been part of and it is truly a non-judgmental and supportive community. Thank you so much!
K. C.
This is my favourite gym ever - the format of small group classes is perfect for me as I know exactly what to do, and why - the trainers are fantastic, positive and knowledgeable. The organisation is super positive - there is no emphasis on weight loss, just positivity around exercise to make you feel at your best. Also it's super inclusive, clean, bright and every member I've met has been absolutely brilliant too.
I would recommend this gym to anyone (and have!) but especially if you're unsure about how to start back in on exercise. I started from nil knowledge and confidence and I love it - I've enjoyed every session. The intro sessions are perfect so you know exactly where to start from. I cant recommend this place enough - its really transformed how I think about exercise.

Professional and knowledgeable trainers with a great community feel. Excellent facilities and a fantastic choice of classes! Just attended a local assault course event with Project PT that was well organised, great fun and challenging.

I am so glad I found project PT! I attended one of their yoga & brunch sessions, and couldn't recommend it more. The team had put so much effort and creativity into making the space unique and charming, and were all so welcoming. Hannah pitched the yoga class perfectly - I think that's the first time I've done a 90 minute yoga class without my mind drifting off! Brunch was also fab. Altogether - faultless.

The best decision I ever made was to join project pt during pregnancy. Alexa, prepared a programme for me that focussed on lower body which was exactly what I needed to help me pick things up from the floor in a safe and strong way. It was also a huge advantage after giving birth and I had to get up from the floor or the bed or sofa with a new born. I trained once a week and despite my increase in size and weight I saw definite improvements in my strength and techniques.
The whole team are all so knowledgeable; I was grateful to train with a variety of instructors who added different experiences to my programme, keeping my training interesting and fun. This also gave me the confidence to push myself - knowing that I was in experienced safe hands.
I had a lot of fun training with project pt and I can’t wait to get back when the little one is a bit older!

I've attended some of their yoga events and I just love them. The team is very welcoming and aprocheable, problem solving and spread good vibes all around. Food, venues and atmosphere are always fantastic. The yoga instructors are delightful, not only as individuals but as professionals. They make you feel that the practice is yours, adapting all the posistions to various levels. I highly recomend it!

I joined the PT Studio half a year ago. As someone who is never a gym person, I really love the atmosphere every time I work out there. Location is supreme. Sessions in small group feels very inclusive and safe. I always get the support whenever I need from coaches who are so knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. Above all, seeing other powerful ladies deadlifting in good forms is so inspiring for me.
There is no before-and-after photo in this review, but after half a year of tailored weight training program, I start to develop decent core muscle (never happen before?!), stronger ankles, firmer finger grips and even some upper-body muscle to keep me nicely on the wall of some more difficult routes the last time I bouldered.
I think this is why I really love this studio- instead of worrying about "how I look" all the time, it is such a relief just to put that thought aside and just focus on how to develop more understanding and control of my body, and be able to do more cool things with it.
I'd recommend PT Studio to anyone who would like to feel the same.

Attended the yoga brunch this morning. Really well organized, lovely space and really friendly staff. Great yoga teacher and yummy brunch to follow. Went with a friend and we both loved it and already planning to book for the next one in December.

I have been training with The ProjectPT for a while now and I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else! I thoroughly enjoy every session and I have definitely seen and felt a massive improvement in my strength and mobility.
The classes I attend at the Movement Studio feel like a one to one and both Ajaye and Alexa have an incredible attention to detail as each session is tailored to the individual. They have always been there for me with whatever question or concern I’ve had and I’ve even adopted some beneficial tips that I use in my everyday life. There is always great music playing in the studio and a positive, friendly and supporting atmosphere in the room. Joining the Movement Studio was definitely the best decision I’ve made!

Such a super experience. My first Yoga session after years of Pilates and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole morning was curated mindfully and with the skill and knowledge I have come to expect form Project PT. The pace, the ambience, the atmosphere, venue and group size lent itself perfectly to a Saturday morning of relaxation. This coupled with a shared brunch and chat could not fail to leave everyone in a more positive and balanced frame of mind than when they entered. I have already signed up to all the next programmed sessions. Excellent all round mind and body experience.

I joined as a member of the Movement studio last year and immediately started noticing a difference in terms of my strength and posture as well as toning parts of my body which, frankly, I was neglecting! I love the sweat classes for their intensity and the lift club for honing my technique and developing my strength. Both Ajaye and Alexa are brilliant: really positive, motivational people who get the absolute best out of you! Thank you guys!

I can't speak highly enough of the Project PT. I've never got on with formal exercise classes, gyms etc but had got to a point where I knew some parts of me were working a little better than others... Having identified my goals, a personalised plan to meet them was designed and I go once or twice a week and work on that - supervised by a lovely team of PTs and joined by up to 3 other clients, all with their own plans. You book when you want to go so can flex it depending on what else is going on in your life that week. The atmosphere is really friendly, relaxed and non-judgemental - and fun. I've been going for about 2 months now and can really notice the difference. Just brilliant.

I have been training with Alexa since August 2018. It's the best fitness decision I have made. She makes training fun, varied and I always feel better for it. The Project PT events are well run and very good value for money. All the instructors at The Movement Studio are knowledgeable in different areas of movement and the small class size really makes it perdonl. I really hope we can get back in the studio soon!!

Training with the project pt has been so eye opening... it's totally transformed the way I feel about exercise and health. I now really look forward to training and I always feel so much better for moving my body and being outside!
Project pt's take on training is so refreshing, Ajaye and Alexa are kind, friendly and welcoming and I immediately felt at ease in their online sessions and now in 1:1 pt sessions. The sessions are so much fun. I really love their focus on community and their work as a social enterprise is fantastic.
In short.... I cannot recommend them highly enough, they are wonderful!

I went to the Yoga & Brunch event by Project PT because a friend recommended it. Loved it! very welcoming atmosphere, friendly instructors, and the whole concept of yearly morning yoga and then a healthy brunch is just so invigorating. I will definitely come again.
J. D.
I have recently joined the movement studio and am already having the best time. Alexa and Ajaye are both incredibly knowledgeable and professional, but there is always a sense of fun and being part of a team. I really love how inclusive it is too unlike some of the more 'traditional' gyms that I've been a member of in the past.
M. C.
I recently attended one of the Project PTs yoga and brunch events, I must say I couldn't of been more impressed. I was instantly made to feel welcome and at ease. The yoga was great, although everyone was at different levels, it didn't seem to matter - we all enjoyed it. The communal brunch is a lovely touch, sitting down and connecting with new people made my day! The brunch was delicious too!! All I can advise is you book on early and be prepared to want to go every month!
M. C. A.
I have attended 2 different yoga events organised by The Project PT.
They are great fun, good to meet new people and outdoors!
Hannah is such a lovely yoga instructor too.
All food is healthy vegetarian or vegan served in compostable containers.
E. B.
We just attended the yoga brunch at the tap social and it was the best start to the weekend!! Lovely warm welcome, fantastic yoga followed by a delicious lunch with great company. Can't recommend it enough...
D. W.
I attended The Project PT’s half day yoga retreat. Ajaye and the team created a welcoming environment, with a beautifully organised half day of inspiring and relaxing yoga (with Hatha Hannah) and tasty healthy snacks, all in pretty, natural settings. I thoroughly enjoyed the day, and was able to really unwind, which was much needed, and greatly appreciated.
A. G.
I took the online Pain and Posture course at The Project PT & Movement Studio. The instructor, David, is very knowledgeable, our introduction session was mind-blowing about my posture, he made me notice things I need to address. The course is well structured and each session focuses on one particular area of the back. After each session David sends out the exercises you need to carry out until the next session. For example the first session was focused on the hips movements and the exercises proved to be very useful for my situation. If you suffer from back pain and want to build awareness of your body this is the perfect course!
S. P.
Excellent and really knowledgeable team. I've really enjoyed training here and look forward to keep on coming back. I would highly recommend the Project PT if you are looking for a great place to train. The team listened to what I wanted to achieve and they've made a programme specifically for me to achieve the goals I've set out and have by far excelled past previous personal trainers I have worked with. Again I highly recommend them!
R. A.
Really enjoyable session. Lovely location, lovely weather and the brunch was excellent too. Highly recommend it
L. P.
Yoga and Brunch is pretty much the ultimate self care practice. I always leave feeling awesome from the combination of doing my yoga practice in such an amazing space and delicious brunch afterwards. Both times I've been by myself and still felt welcomed and comfortable.
A. P.
The Project PT are great at motivating you and tailoring exercises to suit all abilities. They are a really helpful and friendly team who make excerise fun and achievable. I would highly recommend working with them.

I've have a fantastic time learning to lift at this studio! Super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Feel confident with my dead-lift, bench-press, shoulder-press, etc. Definitely glad I took the lessons, as I feel I'm much less likely to get injured now, and will make better progress overall.
H. W.
I floated away from the yoga and brunch session yesterday, safe in the knowledge I had spent Saturday morning very wisely. Fantastic yoga session, delicious and nutritious brunch and a welcoming and warming atmosphere. Thanks Project PT for curating such a brilliant event. I’ll be back.
J. M.
I've been so impressed with The Project PT since I became a member. They have given plenty of time to setting up my exercise programme so it works for me, and I have felt very well looked after as they take the time to explain everything and are lovely people. The Movement Studio is really conveniently located and I can't wait to get back there after lockdown!
J. I.
I first attended one of their Yoga & Brunch events at the Tap social a year ago and was really impressed by their friendliness, the thoughtful details of the event, one of the best yoga instructors in Oxford and the delicious brunch that followed. Their online sessions during lockdown gave me something to look forward to throughout the various lockdowns this past year. As someone who is wary of exercise that isn't yoga (I've taken HIIT classes where my body spent the rest of week recovering from), I found their approach playful, non-judgemental and very holistic. It was refreshing after having so many virtual calls/classes/events where the norm was to turn your mics/cameras off to actually receiving feedback as I was doing the exercise and I was reassured that they were watching what I was doing and wanted me to use correct form. This also translates into the Pain and Posture course I'm taking now with David where he is giving me new tools to help me combat the long hours I spend at a desk. I really appreciate this and I look forward to the day when I can train with them in person. Their business philosophy is ethical, sustainable, and intentional and it doesn't hurt that they share my love of good coffee and good food! Alexa and Ajaye care about their clients and this shows in their regular communication with them whether it be a timely email after new government restrictions or their social media posts that are filled with humour and a range of tips for healthy living. It is very hard to create community when you are doing it virtually but they make you feel like you belong. When they give an enthusiastic 'Let's go team!' at the beginning of a strength and conditioning session; you want to give your best because they're giving theirs. This is amazing and I feel very lucky to support such a wonderful organization.
E. K.
Very empowering PT and group sessions both in person and online. Hard work and knowledge meet community spirit and lightheartedness. I am particularly impressed with how effective the online sessions are: the small-number boutique classes mean that the trainers keep a very close eye on our technique and have the chance to guide us better.
S. R.
I've been training with The Project PT for a few months and I couldn't reccommend them highly enough! I was able to continue training from home during lockdown feeling safe and active. All trainers are extremely knowledgeble and helpful, and they are very good at making each traing session accessible to all participants so that every individual can find the right type of excericse and challenge. Sessions are not only well organised and energising, but they are also a lot of fun!
T.
Very professional and trusted people. The best thing is that you feel safe and supported and that the main aim is physical and mental well-being rather than muscles like ina regular gym. Definitely best PT studio in Oxford.
K. D.
At almost 70 I never thought that I would get to love exercise but the ProjectPT has turned a chore into an exhilarating challenge. My initial aim was to keep mobile following an accident and during lockdown but Ajaye’s knowledge, experience and clear explanations of what I’m doing with my body, and why it’s important, have made our personal training sessions on Zoom a pleasure and great fun. I can feel changes in my muscle tone and in my movement in only a few months and I’m keen to do more. Loving it.
L. C.
I joined the Movement Studio in November 2020 and had a fantastic experience there, I am also having personal training sessions where I have seen progress on my fitness goals as well as having a lot of fun! I would highly recommend Alexa and Ajaye and the other trainers.

I loved the yoga and brunch at the Tap Social this weekend. It felt like a real treat. Everyone was so friendly, the yoga was brilliant and the brunch delicious. I will definitely sign up for the next one!
S. L.
A small group studio for strength training and exercise geared to suit your body, whatever age, gender, fitness experience. Lots of good attention - definitely worthwhile.
G. G.
We attended boot camp over a number of weeks. Despite the thoroughly exhausting workouts, we consistently can’t wait to go back for more because we really think the classes are fab.
Alexa and Ajaye run the camp as a tandem duo and classes work very well. Fun sessions, good warm-ups and warm-downs and a relaxing, communal sit down healthy brunch with a nice bunch to cap it off.
We will keep coming back for more.
J. F.
Brilliant studio, it's friendly and inviting with lovely, knowledgeable trainers. Have learnt lots and feel so much stronger and fitter. Really look forward to my sessions, so glad I joined up. Highly recommend.

I have just signed up to the newly opened Movement Studio in Oxford having attended one of Alexa and Ajaye’s events run in conjunction with Leah at Fitness at The Farm. I cannot praise them highly enough - you feel like you’re having 1:1 each time you go! Such a compliment to the other forms of exercise I undertake! I know I’m going to get stronger so running for the next couple of decades is going to be a breeze!! Thank you Alexa and Ajaye. What are you waiting for....get yourself signed up, you will not regret it!
T. T.
Ajaye and Alexa changed my entire perspective on going to the gym and getting in shape by making our sessions fun and varied and super motivating. On top of training with them, I've enjoyed lots of their external events such as their film screenings and big walk outs, which are great at getting all sorts of people from different backgrounds together and building a really friendly community.
C. S.
What a way to start the weekend! With a 90 minute yoga treat followed by a locally sourced brunch in a cool venue (Tap Social). Welcoming and inclusive no matter what level you are. The locally sourced and prepared leisurely brunch makes for an opportunity to catch up with old and new friends. Book early on Eventbrite as places sell out quickly and please check out The Project PT other events locally; film showings, bootcamps, long walks and personal training at Buzz Gym.
C. B.
This is the most wonderfully helpful exercise studio where individual attention is a priority. Exercise is fun rather than a chore and everyone is so friendly and caring. How amazing to have people actually making sure that you are doing the exercises correctly. It’s all about quality not quantity and that makes such a difference.
K. K.
I loved the "yoga & brunch" event. Amazing and professional yoga teachers who created a friendly environment. :) The food was healthy and, more importantly, extremely delicious! Highly recommended!

I started thinking about personal training a few years ago after I realised that my disability in combination with my busy lifestyle as an academic and activist was not going to bring about a healthy synergy in what felt like a mind-body-soul lacking much balance, I needed a long-term plan, but also someone who wasn't afraid to work with a different body and a disability history, and I needed ...motivation. Confession: I was one of those who thought PT was for elites and self-centered folks. Meeting Alexa - I was still very reluctant and a bit cynical - changed this attitude fundamentally. It is not only experience and a committed approach as my PT, also the curiosity and willingness to think outside the box that marks Alexa and soon The Project with Ajaye and David as one of my online coaches. I can say it made me realise that self-care is a radical approach, not only for the individual self but also collectively, to one's community. What is the point if we don't live healthy and train so our bodies can endure some of the unwelcome impacts of a hectic life as an organiser, sometimes insane teaching schedule, or stressful capitalist race to success or careers? What better than be able to improve and even enjoy our mobility and relative independence? And what is the social value if we can't even invest in ourselves so as to be giving to our communities the input and struggles we care so much about in a more lasting manner? We are conditioned to think short-term and to feel that spending time and money on our selves is self-indulgence. And even if so, don't we actually want to enjoy it? The Project in and off itself - the way they invest and give back to the community and the way they make their individual members invest in themselves - has shown me so through its own commitment, humanity, humour and well yes, no point in denying, a little bit of torture and sacrifice. But I mean the fun and sweaty version of sacrifice, you know: the exhausting kind that makes you feel so much more energetic and good afterwards. They have a kind of Che Guevara approach 'be realistic-demand the impossible'. Hell yeah!
E. A.
I started training with Ajaye last May. I love my weekly PT sessions and always feel great afterwards. I have also joined the movement studio and feel so much more confident since starting sessions there with all the trainers.
M. D.
I recently attended the Yoga and supper evening and it was a lovely evening. Friendly, relaxing, inclusive and nourishing. The food was delicious and the set up was superb. We enjoyed talking to the organisers, finding out about the social enterprise and the great work they do in schools.
F. P.
I attended a Saturday yoga and brunch session that had relocated at short notice to Tap Social. The venue, yoga sessions and brunch were all excellent and I was made to feel very welcome. I would highly recommend.
B. H.
I have been to a range of Ajaye and Alexa's workshops and classes. They are amazing. Really knowledgeable and inclusive. The workshops are fun and have a real community feel. There Zoom classes over lockdown were invaluable to me too. Highly recommended!
H. N.
Incredible pair! So knowledge, approachable and kind. They make every experience fun and accessible for everyone weather that’s a personal PT session or one of their brilliant fitness and wellness events. They are also doing lots for their community and really care about the individual. Can’t recommend them highly enough.
N. F.
I have attended several of the yoga and brunch events run by project PT. Each event has been extremely well run and I had the best time. I would highly recommend. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming.

A beautiful and peaceful setting for a lovely yoga retreat. Lovely people and special thanks to Hannah for her expert guidance. Tasty snacks, a real
treat for the body and soul !
Thank you
J. S.
It's the first time that I ever felt stronger and powerful without the need of compromise on my lower back pain! I feel that the trainers are really there for you and to help you succeed!
K. W.
I discovered the Project PT in Lockdown when they were running exercise adventures for kids. They are so enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. They combine fun and learning in a skilful way, whilst getting across their message that exercise is necessary to keep healthy.
P. F.
Have been doing this course for 3 week.
I enjoy the stretching and movement, it really reveals your ' bad posture habits'.
It is based on scientific studies, David is very knowledgeable.
j. W.
Shout out to Ajaye and her fabulous team.
Great work. Some things are better experienced than 'heard about'.
You are all amazing!

Attended Fit Farm Festival by Project PT last weekend - brilliantly organised and a great day out.
A great company with great people doing great things.
G. D.
There’s a long way to go, but I am much fitter - and stronger - than I was. And, to my surprise (as someone who is not a natural in a gym), I have had fun, and gained in confidence too!
C. C.
What these two have managed to put together is not just a group of people doing yoga or exercise -- it really feels like a community. It's a combination of fitness and feel-good that I haven't seen anywhere else!
N. M.
I attended the Yoga & Brunch event at Florence Park in April. It was brilliant, would definitely go again and highly recommend.
