I only signed up this week so it’s difficult to comment on what it’s going to be like long term, but so far? What a place, honestly I’ve looked forward to coming every single day, class gym despite it being upstairs and relatively small, modern and up to date, friendly yet professional staff and the pool facilities are brilliant. At this price point Roko is a pure hidden gem in York.

Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff, great gym and spa facilities. The changing rooms and showers are very clean and modern and there is a really nice cafe to eat drink and relax in.

Roko is a lovely friendy ,welcoming club that I've been a member of for a few years now. Opened in 2008 it's now unfortunately showing it's age. Such a shame that when we were in lock down staff didn't take the opportunity to give it a good deep intensive clean and address all the niggling things that needed mending. Missed opportunities.

We joined a few weeks ago but I wanted to use it before I left a review. So far I've been very pleased. The staff are really friendly, the guy who sold us our membership was helpful and communicative and continued to be so after we'd joined, which was great. The staff at the front desk say hello each time we visit. I've only been a few times but if they recognise you they say hello by name, which makes the whole 'gym thing' slightly less intimidating. My gym induction was great, very thorough and the trainer did his best to help me with a long standing issue, despite it being an unusual injury. I'm confident that the advice he has given me was sound and he's already booked me in for a review in a month, this seems to be standard practice to keep members motivated. My kids (aged 4 and 5) and I used the pool at the weekend and they had a lovely time. They now begrudge me going to the gym as they're not always allowed to join me. They are on the waiting list for swimming lessons and I understand there will be other child friendly activities post-COVID. It's really nice that the kids feel welcome at the gym, rather than tolerated, their membership fee being included in mine was a massive bonus and the kids have their own membership cards, which they love. The only downside is that with the current restrictions it can be tough to book slots for swimming and some popular classes. I'm sure things will improve with time and I get the impression they are doing the best they can under difficult circumstances. Also, the 21 free guess passes members receive come as 3 one week passes. A great bonus, but we got our wires crossed and I thought we were getting 21 one day passes... not a big deal but worth knowing.

A well appointed gym with great facilities and pleasant staff. Customer Service could be improved. Watch out if you join up on a special offer membership price. Our membership fees went up after 12 months. There is also a 3 month cancellation notice period. Although these were apparently explained at the time of joining there was no reminder that we were approaching this date. Had we known we would have given notice 3 months before our contract date. A simple email would have resulted in us not being effectively tied into a 15 month membership. Having spoke to Anthony he has said that he will bring this up with the GM. On the whole though I have enjoyed my time with Roko but the experience has been soured by some poor customer service.

Good gym with some great classes and staff members, however customer service is very disappointing. Join the gym for 3 months contract, without any notice that we have to cancel membership straight away if we don't wish to stay another 3 months. Overall, there are many better places in York, at least with a much more helpful and client oriented customer service.

Great staff, excellent classes, good equipment, pleasant facilities - what more do you want? It's not pretentious - it's not a 'see and be seen' place like some places nor is it one of those gyms that feels like a chore to go to - it's a good place to work out and actually enjoy yourself - a big family of people doing their bit to get to where they want to be. Go and have a look. It might be what you've been looking for!

Excellent Facilities, nice staff, but expensive membership. Worth mentioning that the food on offer is great value so the gym is also a good place to get a meal or be social with other gym-goers. If you can afford it this is a nice gym

Great to be back and use the pool again. I only use the pool and have missed it while maintenance was happening. Wonderful.

A good all round gym. Polite staff, good equipment but could do with a few more specialised machines. To the idiots who give this a one star I suggest you have a word with your self and leave because you're the type of people no gym wants on their premises. Second best gym in York only beaten by David Lloyd which is astronomical in price. Highly recommend.

Great place to play 5-a-side football. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because Covid rules seem wrong. Why leave drinks bottles outside the pitches as this funnels everyone through the gate. Same goes for car keys, why make people put them in one bag as this might encourage people to fumble around for their keys?

Great place for any age (adult). All shapes and sizes. Staff very helpful and on hand most times. I love the fact there's a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna after I've had a workout.

There are 2 pools, a children's pool and a larger 20m pool where anybody can enjoy the water. There is also a spa area, which is wonderful. All round it is a wonderful place to be...
