Reviews of Wickes
A brilliant place, I wish I had come here instead of buying a lot of hardware things on Amazon. The prices here are surprisingly low including this paint which was £10! They went to good lengths to control the number of customers and attempt to promote social distancing during COVID-19.
Best of all was the staff; very helpful and lovely. Really enjoyed my visit and look forward to coming back. I really hope people look here for their goods before before going online.
They have click and collect too.
Big place with everything under one roof apart from what I actually needed which was what I had found on their website but didn't have in their shop at Murrayfield in Edinburgh. Aluminium check pattern panels. So complete waste of my time. Given the size of the place why not have it in-store!?
I use this depot/store from time to time for smaller purchases and describe it as suitable for serious DIYers as well as full-time tradespeople for whom it is particularly suitable: i.e. purchasers who generally know what they want and in my opinion it is more suited to the smaller end of the building industry than say, Homebase (except that Homebase has an excellent paint-mixing/matching service whereas Wickes (Edin) does not). For me staff at Wicked (Edin) are usually "OK". . . . rather than brilliant.
We have just bought a kitchen from Wickes Edinburgh after lots of research and consideration and it's all thanks to our Salesman, David Marks. He showed us how good the quality of Wickes' product was and went above and beyond to help us. We are so grateful and really happy with our purchase. We just can't wait to get it fitted now. Thank you Wickes and especially David. We would highly recommend.
Handy, good products but staff not that friendly. Have asked for help in my three last ocasions and none of them helpful at all. Last week my last visit asked an older man to help me choose some items recomended by decorator and his face/attitude not good at all. Time to go somewhere else
My trip to Wickes to purchase goods in itself was unsuccessful. However my overall experience there was very positive. I met a member of staff who went over and above to try and find what I was searching for. He advised me that it was his second day in the job, however this did not stop him from doing his very best for me. He paid full attention to my request, checking online himself to try and locate the goods. Sadly to no avail. He also checked with an older member of staff, who was also very very helpful. While I left the shop without the item I wanted, I was very impressed overall with the level of service provided. It was my first ever time visiting the shop but it won't be the last, quality all round! I also wish the new member of staff all the very best for his career with Wickes, excellent service 😊😊
I was there today it has everything you need and staff very friendly and helpful and deserves the 5 star rating 🤗😷🤗
Comprehensive DIY store also offers trade discount
Used Click & Collect a few times recently for building supplies (patio) and very easy to use - efficient.
Staff were super helpful with a Web order return. Bought around 30 packs of laminate flooring and underlay
Not Wickes fault.
Wickes sent my porch tiles this morning BUT ..... They were delivered by City Spirit. The delivery guy did not wear a mask, I had one on, he was going to leave 9 heavy boxes of floor tiles outside my front door. As a great concession he put them just inside the door which meant I couldn't close my front door. He watched me lift and manuver them up a step and about a foot into the porch. Okay if you are not a woman over 70+ with back problems.
Yes we are all aware of covid but all he had to do was leave them 18" further into the porch, all doors open, and I would have had a complete delivery. Previous Wickes deliveries the guys were so helpful but not City Spirit.
Good website and OK click &collect. Wait for email telling you ready. Park car and walk to queue area next to exit. Then attract attention of someone in shop. Give them number on email and they bring it out - on trolley if big. Bit of a wait to get attention and order not always ready.
Had to return something a client changed their mind about and a lovely Asian guy who helped me was brilliant. Excellent customer service and very professional. Well done
Decent enough products but BEWARE If you are getting large/ heavy items delivered it is likely to be one person and at the moment they will not deliver per Wickes normal service level which includes to back garden if the re is access from exterior. Found this out today with 8 fence panels. They have not changed their delivery details as a result of current Covid conditions for City Sprint anyway.Literally a pain as I was involved in handling them.
Very good range of DIY products, paints, tools, hardware, plumbing, electrics, insulation boards, timber sheets, power tools, joinery items, kitchens and bathrooms appliances, etc. Staff is always available for advice. Prices are reasonable and Wickes own brand products are cheaper than its high street names counterparts. Will certainly go back!
Helpful, accommodating staff who very kindly let us leave our large purchase in the store overnight for collection next day.
It's fine. Quite small for a DIY store.
The garden department is tiny and really only for landscape gardening and fencing. Good for popping in to get something specific for your project but compared to b&q at hermiston, it's not very inspiring.
Is exactly what it says it is, DIY store bit small and does not have a full range of products though do provide click and collect service so can have things delivered in. Garden department very small.
Staff member very helpful.
I went to Wickes to get products that my closest DIY store didn't have. It is further away and less convenient but much better stocked. I might have to reassess my options now. 👍👍👍👍
Staff were very helpful and assisted me in finding the products and the new design of the material that I was looking for .plenty of space for parking .
The lockdown got me here, as nowhere else I could get what I wanted. Normally I would go to the B&Q, well until now as the customer service was superb at Wickes. I`ve got everything what I wanted even at lockdown. I`ve got them on a good price better then elsewhere and the lady who served me she done the extra mile for me. I can not remember her name however she was the only 1 lady around, I hope she see my comment as I want to thank you once again. You made my day bright in this depressing covid-19 lockdown.
You get what it says on the tin, big warehouse feel. Staff no bad. Can only pay for transaction by card due to Corona virus which I found annoying as I use cash.
Great store, easy to navigate and very competitive prices.
staff were friendly, however I had pre ordered my item for click and collect. got a text to say pick it up. and when I got there the lady couldn't find the paperwork. after 5 mins of searching etc she someone else found it and I got my item. happy overall.
Went in to see about kitchen lady we spoke to was lovely gave us different ideas no pressure to buy no pushy sale's. as we had a budget she pick our kitchen happy day's
A great merchants. Always used to avoid them but have recently started to use them as I was working in the area. Unbelievable prices and the staff are brilliant.
Edinburgh unit much better than others I have been in. The site is clean and well stocked. Staff could do with some training in customer service
Reasonable variety of products if your looking for a central local diy store in middle of a city, i always pop in there first before heading further out of town. very handy
Our team of Security staff travelled from Newcastle to Edinburgh to work at Murrayfield yesterday. The lovely manager saved our bacon and let us use the car park when we were struggling with anywhere to park our minibus. From all our team ... A MASSIVE THANK YOU!!! Very much appreciated.
Ideal located for me. Good selection of DIY and building materials. They did have what I wanted but I wanted to compare prices with other stores. Staff answered my questions well
Handy shop with quite good stock. Slightly more expensive than bq I think.
Small but has a few essentials. The big annoyance though is the incessant pa message booming overhead every 2 mins. "look out the fork lift truck is working in store" I was sick of hearing it after 10 mins im surprised the poor staff haven't gone completely bonkers hearing that all day.
Got exactly what I wanted. Really helpful friendly staff.
Big park outside. Easy to reach. Not as huge as B&Q but you can find good quality stuff and a good choice for painting and garden.Nice kitchens showroom.
Very helpful staff. Don't always gave everything in stock, but you can easily order.
Bought 2 garden fencing items.
Getting Sarah isn't as easy as it used to be before they had a refit but the shop is still good couple of really good members of staff very helpful and the rest of them haven't got a clue what they're doing
Just popped in to pick up a kitchen brochure but found a decent selection of show kitchens to view as well. Nicely laid out with a good assortment of cabinet designs.
manager spent 20 mins helping me with kitchen and getting units organised (stocked). Can't see that happening at other large DIY stores.
Great place to shop staff good.can.t fault wicks
Had to return non returnable item.... Toilet seat... As was faulty.
Good customer service. Immediate refund. Well done.
Couldn't find some things which I knew were in stock - eventually found them in an unaccessible corner behind pallets of other unrelated bulk items. Staff were friendly.
Went to collect a worktop 2 days after I ordered it on a 1 hour pick up às it was only just ready
No one there to help with the pick up, very slow service
But got what I ordered!
We needed some materials and popped in. It was well stocked and well priced. We quickly found what we needed and staff were friendly and knowledgeable . It has good parking and was exactly what we needed
Wheelchair ♿ access plenty on site parking all sorts of projects from kitchens bathrooms 🚻 landscaping & so much more centre of Edinburgh home delivery also
A very pleasant experience, the store was organized, and they seemed to have all health and hygiene procedures in place to help fight this pandemic.
The stock is mediocre and the staff ok. When it comes to deliveries these guys are absolutely terrible. They mix orders then forget what to redeliver. Ideal for DIYers.
Well laid out and signposted with good stock and helpful, friendly staff.
All you'd really need from a DIY store!
While not the biggest diy shed on this side of town. It is my prefered place to go. Usually a bit quieter and the staff helpful.
Good selections on diy products.
Smaller than B&Q means there are not shelfs and shelfs of the same thing.
It's close to where I live and it has what I needed. Unfortunately the variety of stock is limited and the customer service is awful. The lady who was serving me didn't say anything or even make eye contact. She just continued talking to her colleague as she was scanning my items and occasionally yawning without covering her mouth.
Staff were very helpful, I got the paint that I needed at a reasonable price. Excellent service.
Staff really helpful, but need more than one on checkout, apart from that, great, prices are keen too
Small choice of products, no help from staff, if I was to go shopping it's back to BnQ!! Don't waste your time in wickes!!
Great staff
Very helpful and considering the situation we are all in very cheerful will visit again
I can't remember the last time that staff were so helpful & information about anything that they can help with they will, great thanks see you again !
Bigger than the glasgow ones, still has wickes pricing tho. Worth a look for a bargain in the clearance section. Staff are super helpful
Went looking for brass screws. Few different sizes at reasonable price. Friendly staff.
Well stocked with building materials...speedy delivery service...competent staff.
Fine for the basics, sand and cement for me. We're getting a fitted kitchen in September so we'll see how that goes 😀
Wickes.. Under Covid.. Update! It's nearly normal, as long as there is not a queue to get in .. on Sat mid-day it was quiet, walked straight in .. other than keeping 2 mts away from anyone, it was just normal Wickes!
One of there best keept stores friendly and helpful staff good range of DIY products at resnoble prices
Done click and collect day before, stuff not ready when we got there. Had to wait ages staff standing about
Reasonable prices, at least for basic diy supplies that I know of :)
Got what I wanted . Easy to find no problems at store felt safe
It was good and paint and stuff reasonable as well staff friendly and helpful as well
Quite handy place for DIY stuff. Prices are bit expensive. Location is very good with free parking
You can get everything you need for your building project and household decorations at this Store.
Very helpful staff who helped me find what I was looking for and at a great price.
The place is ok but pricey. It does not have a bicke rack and that is a big issue for me as a cyclist.
Always has what I'm looking for at competitive prices
Wickes okay but quite small so not much choice ...Nice staff
Had everything I needed and was well organised to cater with the current social distancing rules.
Great variety of DIY supplies and paints for trade and the amateur enthusiast!
I like Wickes but there isn't quite enough choice compared to B and Q. The kitchens though are top notch.
Great range of stock. Polite friendly staff. Trade discount available.
Had everything I needed in stock. Good service too.
Got exactly what I needed.
Is an on shop if you know what you want, but if you are doing serious DIY I wouldn't recommend this Wickes as there doesn't seem to be a lot choice wise.
Friendly and helpful staff love it! One of cheapest place in town for building materials
Good well stocked store .
Well laid out more for the more experienced DIY'r or trades person better than B+Q
Staff were very helpful and assisted me to find what I was wanting.
Good builder merchants have most things
Great service, excellent range of quality products
Good quality, better prices than B&Q. Would go here first .
Excellent place. Bette value than the main opposition but less choice.
Handy place but can be expensive, depending what you buy, check others too for prices
Half a DIY store half a builder's merchant. Just a bit different.
Much smaller than BQ but has a very useful range all the same
Some good staff and some short staff housed in wickes, everything you need for home maintenance at a quick glance.
Great store for everything you need for any D,I,Y job.
Real handy place to go ! B&Q is a much more awkward place to get to. Wickes is every bit as good.
Plenty parking, helpful staff, limited stock range. Really depends what you're after.
Not the biggest range but reasonable, reasonable prices too.
Staff helpful but shop quite empty 🤷♀️
Great experience with the click and collect service.
Very positive outcome with goods staff on the till very funny. Can you open a branch in Livingston please
Covid measures in place and they look better than that of B&Q's.
Cheaper too
Quality products, good offer. I am happy with it and will keep shopping
Easy parking, prices of doors were great, nice range.
Great service from one person, really poor from another. Overall I felt like I was interrupting
Great customer service but I was looking for a "Podger" and they didn't have. Too bad.
DIY store has most things for home DIY friendly staff

Very good diy shop has everything you would ever want...
Decent range of items, decent price.
Not busy and got what I required they are not taking cash so cards only.
Not the biggest around but the range of products and central location make it very handy to have nearby.
Paint! So much paint, plus other handy stuff. Prices can be high depending on what your looking for however.
every DIY enthusiast's shopping paradise!
Fast and easy to get your order
Had to wait to pay one person on till and talking on phone took about 10 mins to pay
Always has what I need and not that expensive.
Pleasant kitchen planning staff, very helpful
Very helpful staff and well stocked.
