Excellent family run DIY store and Wood cutting/joinery service.
Jack was extremely helpful with the precise cuts needed for my fitted kitchen, he was friendly and very professional.
Many thanks, will definitely come back!

Have really enjoyed coming here as of late. Helping support my local business, every member of staff has been helpful. From the Two Women at the front of the counter who are extremely knowledgeable about what's in the shop, to the four men who work at the back! They always seem to do the best to try and help out everyone who comes through the door, and if it's not something they can help with they always send you to someone who is bound to have what you're looking for.
Sending much love to this business!

Great plywood cutting service for some shelves I was putting in my daughter's room. The shop is a real Aladdin's Cave of DIY excitement! Helpful & friendly. Support your local retailers!

I spend hours ringing big retailers until someone tipped me off about this place. A phone call and a visit later I had everything I needed, locally and at a great price.
I also spoke to someone in their workshop and will be ordering some cut to size panels for my next built in project. Very helpful from start to finish!

This is my absolute favourite DIY store by far!
Staff are very professional, well informed and always willing to help me on the various projects I have completed in my home and business over the last 6 years. Katie as well as the other staff members are great and have always treated me with kindness respect, when answering my questions on products despite my lack of building knowledge. I really hope this business continues to service the East London community for many many years to come as they stand out as truly well run independent family business and deserve to be supported. Well done to all involved in running this space and please keep doing what you do so well.

KTS were amazing today. I phoned to order some ‘cut to size’ plywood pieces and they managed to cut them immediately even though it was late in the day. They were ready for pick up within 20 mins. How many places in London can do this?!! Very friendly staff on collection. I will definitely be using again.

I got in touch with four other DIY and timber places in the local area and this was the only one that cuts wood to size. They replied promptly to my email with helpful suggestions of which wood to use, plus prices. When we went in to order the wood the lady on the till was very knowledgeable and checked that we had everything else we needed for the job (we didn’t!) then she sorted us out with all the relevant materials. Great service. Would recommend.

Really great selection of material and timber. Not the most helpful staff if you are looking for advice, but they do probably deal with professionals all day

I much prefer this place over any other big chain store. Staff are really helpful and knowledgeable and it has everything you need for any woodwork needs, including cutting wood to spec which is amazing to have in the neighbourhood.

This shop is great. They have almost everything you’ll ever need. Helpful too, for people like me, who needs advice with each product. Family run and well missed in the community during Lockdown.

Couldn't recommend this highly enough. After ordering loads of things online and wasting time with nothing working, one trip and chat to the awesome lady behind the counter and I solved a handful of frustrating problems. The rubber toilet seat stoppers to put under my wooden bed legs to stop it sliding over the wood floor was genius - a hack saw for £1.50 for another problem I had wasted already £10 trying to fix. Great advice and range - talk to the staff as they'll have a solution.

I keep coming back because the product they provide is great - I give them my measurements and 5 minutes later I get the plywood, mdf or timber cut exactly to the sizes I've specified. They can occasionally be a bit grumpy but think of it as part of the experience and you'll almost enjoy it!

I came over from the Caribbean to help my son with some DIY for his new flat in King's Cross. I wanted to make him a wall-mounted coat rack in oak wood. The proprietor and staff were helpful and kind, and assisted with planning and making the custom cuts of the wood for the design which I had chosen. And the necess hardware, screws etc. Atmosphere is personal and professional. Would definitely come here again for the next DIY project!

I had excellent service at this family run business. I needed to ask for advice and found the staff to be helpful and professional. I ended up with woodwork materials cut to size at a modest cost which helped me complete my DIY project.

Had some plywood cut for a furniture project. They gave great advise and much to my surprise, local delivery was same day and cheaper than the Uber I was going to pay for

Definitely 5 stars. I have been using this diy shop for the las 8 years and they never failed me. They have all little bits you might need, they will cut any wood to any size or shape, and if there's anything you need which they don't sell, they will tell you about the nearest shop where you can get it - rarely will you find hop keepers do that. Thanks guys!

Always helpful and can rely on them to do a great job and quickly too! I've been a loyal customer for the past two years and they make sure i am bumped up the list on orders. Cannot reccomend them enough. Brilliant family business. Support the smaller businesses!

I use this store a lot, because it just around the corner from where I live. It is has very extensive stock. Often better than the big chains. Prices are very reasonable. The staff are very knowledgable. They are not the smiliest! But it is more important to me that staff know what they are talking about, rather than they grin all the time. Great family business of the type that is sadly dying out in Hackney. Highly recommended.

I have been over there for few years. I live locally and they provide good advise and service for DIY, bits and pieces. The Old Fella even recommended another place that could cut a specialist door key that I needed. They have always been helpful and knowledgable.

I have been coming here for four years. I prefer coming here because it is a more personal level of service; and you can see the same staff members when you visit; you don't get that at Wickes etc there are several women who work here who are very helpful and friendly and the men who work here don't talk down to you - even when I have obviously not got a clue what I am asking about. They go out of their way to help you; I brought in the base of a pedstal fan that had lost a butterfly screw and washer; they found the correct type of screw and attached it to the base of my fan so it would not keel over (it was more difficult a repair than it sounds). They are one of the few local shops that stocks peg board, can cut it down to size and deliver it for you. They tend to have a lot of stuff that other stores don't have ie clips that can connect the spring mattress of a folding bed. They have a woodwork shop at the back and can cut down large lengths of dowling for you. Also they have sweets on the counter, which is an added extra.

Always well stocked and helpful staff. In response to some of the other reviews, I don't need service with a americana-smile when the wood is always cut to spec and on time. Turn up knowing what you want and you'll leave with what you need.
D. R.
The service is a little brash, but the quality of the merchandise is good. The wood cut to order service is excellent and convenient. It's free to park in their loading bay and surrounding area at weekends.

Endemic grumpiness aside, KTS is pretty good and usually stocks most of what I'm after. That being said, many DIY basics such as awls and picture cord (they only have ol skool wire) aren't kept in stock. ALSO their pricing varies from fair to ridiculous- their rate for a standard FB2 key is well over double that of say, Timpson's and any other indie key joints.
S. J.
Excellent service for getting wood cut, and a fair price too.
C. P.
Friendly, helpful and is a veritable labyrinth of woodworking/tools/DIY items. If you need some modification/wood cut/anything handy doing and live in the area I thoroughly recommend this place.
M. T.
They are helpful and really know what they're talking about. I see a few people have complained about the service. I've been about 10 times and would say they are old school - they are nice but don't expect them to suck up to you!
A. R.
Got to say the Jamaican bloke, although a little quiet, extremely helpful and a decent cutter. Other staff members are also eager to help! And They also stock OSMO Oil which is a plus.
M. X.
I wanna say this is a great little shop, and that the northern bloke with the glasses did a bang up job on my birch ply order. Other staff members are extremely helpful too.
D. B.
I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews for this place but wonder if they're written by a competitor. I have been here three times recently and have always found the staff very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. A great old-school hardware shop.
R. K.
Brilliant little shop which had everything I needed. Excellent customer service from two staff members. I would definitely come here again in the future.
M. C.
A great little DIY place that can easily cope with the needs of professionals. Friendly and helpful staff. A bit on the pricey side but still recommended!
F. M.
We come here frequently to get bits and bobs for diy but mostly for the wood cutting service, which is excellent.
K. T.
3 pairs of keys cut - all work well. Pleased with the quality, price and service.
A. S.
Excellent Service, Just popped in and they gave me excellent advice. My go to place for all my hardware needs! Highly recommended
J. L.
Great little store. Really handy to cut wood.
O. V.
Great shop for buying wood cut to size. Cheaper then buying the same wood in homebase, and much more choice.
D. T.
Awesome family run business that has just about any tools or hardware you'd ever need.
A. K.
Friendly and helpful staff. They do cutting service, which is not too common in London these days
E. C.
Great service ! I keep coming back even though I moved further away.
T. F.
