I visited this shop for the first time today. They were really helpful and able to give expert advice on how to fix a loose door handle. I’d have spent a fortune getting loads of unnecessary stuff and been none the wiser about the actual problem (which turned out to be much simpler than we thought) if I’d gone to one of the big chains online. This will be our go-to hardware place from now on! A great local business.

Hardware stores like this don’t seem to exist anymore. Wakefield’s is a rare breed. I travel a long distance to buy what I cannot get locally and there are things in this shop you cannot get on the internet. Their stock is vast. And finally with hardware and fittings there is no substitute for walking into a shop, speaking to people who know what they are talking about and seeing the items before you buy .

I love this shop its a great old fashion Gem. Its a must if you are looking for any hard ware and nuts and bolts and springs catches bolts. You name it they have hundreds of little wooden tray's showing all kinds of fixtures and fittings you will not be disappointed. No need to buy packets of fixings. If you only need one nut and bolt no problem every thing is sold per items it's brilliant. The staff have a wealth of experience. Always happy to help.

If you are fed up buying 50 screws at a time from Screwfix, Toolstation etc when you only need 2 then this is the place to go. Buy individual screws and hardware of all sorts. Old school shop with multiple nuts, bolts, locks, connectors etc and very knowledgeable. They can suggest options that you might not be aware of. Probably last of its kind so make a point of supporting before it disappears.

Haven't been to wakefield ltd for so long.Badly needed a dozen screws for front of garage doors.Lucky got there nice and early this morning,all sorted.Such a wonderful treasure trove of a store.Look forward to getting back there,hopefully when this is all over.The two guys who run the shop also very helpful . So I had the bright idea of chopping a chandelier in half to obtain a shorter length (I know, I know). The result was disastrous. I had no way of joining the metal stem to a metal ceiling rose. I took it to a few places and it was a unanimous this is effed. Google told me I needed a thread maker and some sort of hollow m10 bolt. Took it to wakefield and the guys didn't have a hollow bolt but didn't give up. Ended up doing some magic and made up the exact part I needed. It was absolute wizardry! So so friendly and lovely. Absolute gents. Thank you genuinely from the bottom of my heart ❤

Not your average hardware store., more a store that will sell you as few or as many pieces as you need. Ie , I needed a few grub screws not 100. I went here and got 6. An alladins cave of screws nuuts bolts etc just the ticket. A shop which knows its stock and could probably supply you with the most obscure fitting ever required.

Been going here since God was a boy. Much better the the big chains DIY stores. For all types of hardware. This shop you can buy a single nut, bolt, or screw. This business has past down the family and what they don't know about fixtures and fittings nuts & bolts is not worth knowing. For a very crowded shop they know where everything is.

I've been using Wakefields for over 30 years, I'm in the trade and I can assure it's one of the very best ironmongers n London. They sell by weight, so if you only want half a dozen nails, they'll sell them to you. Once purchased all wrapped in newspaper - no wasteful plastic bags here. Anyone who gives this business less than 5 stars is a fool.

if they haven't got it, you don't need it. huge range of high quality ironmongery, tools and fittings. very helpful staff can tell you what you need. the sort of place where you can still buy one nut and bolt. they'll even wrap it in newspaper for you.

We Love this shop, old school in that they know their trade inside out, you will find everything you need in the boxes of latches, hooks, bolts, screws etc and bob in their room next door to find quality door furniture in all styles. We got our fabulous Queen Anne Brass door knobs here too and they are weighty, stunning and cheaper than online!

Brilliant little shop with a million little wooden boxes full of every kind of bolt, nut, screw etc. helpful staff who have a clue about what they sell (unlike some nearby big box hardware stores). This shop is a pleasure to be in even if it's just to browse around contemplating your next project.

This place is my regular spot whenever I need anything I go there, regardless of how big or small the problem is these guys are a very helpful bunch. If you are looking for something that can't be found in many other big DIY stores, this is the place you visit!

Wakefield's is an old school hardware emporium where you can buy all sorts of household ironmongery. You can simply buy two 2mm screws with .5 pitch plus 3 spoon washers to fit, for example. Your purchase will be wrapped in newspaper and you may pay by cash or card. A rare beast!

Great place, very old but it got everything small bits that you need for DIY and etc if you just looking for the odd item than having to buy full pack from some where else, here you can buy that one item. Only problem finding some where close to park if you got an car, which is not easy, Tesco car park be best if not busy, then walk to the shop.
