This has been a family run business since I can remember. Very friendly and very helpful. If you’ve looked elsewhere and can’t find what you want this is the place to go. They even cut wood to size.

They will cut timber that you buy in Wickes and B&Q NO PROBLEM! Bring your wood and they will cut it to size!!! Can’t get better than that! 5 Stars

Great shop will cut timber stock to any size bought four large bolts with washers and wing nuts recently for £2-50 eBay's cheapest was a smaller size and they wanted£2-90 for one bolt washer and nut you can't beat that anywhere

The staff here are really friendly and helpful. Also they will cut the timber to size including ply,MDF, and hardboard, they'll also cut a piece off a1200-2400 full board so you don't have to buy the whole board, which cuts down on waste . They also stock a full range of ironmongery at reasonable prices.

A great local DIY store. Really traditional place were the staff make every effort to help and advise you and have many years knowledge and experience. I try and shop local where possible and have been grateful a number of times that I found this place.

I great handy store that's local to people who live in Maindee like me who desperately needs some wood cut to size while you wait, or just to buy the great choice of many other DIY products plus plumbing and electrical goods. Delivery is also available, which comes in very handy if the items you buy are too heavy to carry to your home in Maindee.

I've been looking for a proper ironmonger's for absolute ages. All the ones near me have closed or bought by people who aren't interested in the knowledge of the trade. Maindee's is the complete opposite. The reviews here were excellent and the passersby I asked directions of spontaneously said how v good the place is. The gentleman there took one look at the screw from a 1931 frame, and I had the turn button in my hand 30 seconds later - he said it was probably as old as my grand-dad in the photo. And again with the loo hinges, which we've been trying to get for several months: immediately they knew the make and type, had them in stock, and bob's your uncle. Plus the chat was free! How I wish I lived nearer; still it's a reason to come to Newport, well that, and my husband's Welsh. Many, many thanks, and long my you continue in well-deserved success. Lenore Churchman-Davies

Great, real corner hardware store ad they used to be. Some prices better than B&Q. Frankly, my first choice before other larger stores. Choice is obviously limited, but good advice from professionals offsets this. Support this store!

Wonderful traditional DIY stores. Very helpful for the people who don't know exactly what they want for the job there doing as the experience advice given will get the job done! There can be nothing that you cannot get from there, and if they haven't got it in stock, they will endeavour to get it for you very quickly.
