Local shop which stocks most racket sports and accessories. Some goods are very keenly priced even compared to online retailer like Amazon. Of course the advice that you get from knowledgeable staff is invaluable, feel and touch the goods. You can even trial the rackets beforehand without commitment to buying

I've been twice recently the first time for an allen key tightened bolt, I had photos with a ruler next to it. I knew they would be able to help. The following week I brought magnets which I turned into fishing rods. (Not silly round craft ones) Maybe a little large but worked a treat 😃 I also brought some stronger twine to make sure it was safe as I could thread it through and glue sticks. All were reasonable prices. Felt guilty I did not need more as they are always there when I need them even though I need to travel to them, always worth the extra miles.

This shop is an absolute gold mine, one of the last unfortunately of a dying breed. Try this place before you go to a modern day superstore, the staff are very knowledgeable and super helpful. Marks out of ten, I would give them at least 11.

Great store. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff. The shop looks small, but the have a huge variety of products from bicycles, tools, plumbing, light bulbs, et cetera. I needed help with a DIY faucet replacement and they gave me advice, answered my many questions, helped me solve problems I encountered, and found the right products for me.

It is an Aladdin's cave of DIY products! I had been to three chain plumbers merchants and ordered online only to get given the wrong thing each time. I went into Smith and Low and they were so helpful and found exactly what we needed straight away. I will definitely return!

Always helpful, always friendly, and always have what I am looking for. Over the last two decades, Smith & Low has always been and will continue to be my first port of call for any household hardware I need for DIY repairs. From basic tools to spare parts which also saves me from having to replace a whole new unit; broom stick or mop heads; light bulbs; even bicycle lights, and hoses. For your shower or the garden!

This place is a treasure trove of tools, hardware, electrical and electronic parts, bike parts and household items. The prices are good, particularly when you're buying small quantities of eg screws. Staff are helpful and there's a couple of guys in there who can give you a lot of advice. I'm very glad little independent stores like this are still open. There's always been plenty of other shoppers in there when I'm in there which is a good sign of a store with a good reputation.

My favourite shop! All sorts of tools, spare parts for your bike, washing machine, fridge, garden tools etc, bits and pieces to make and repair all sorts of things (cable, solder, batteries etc etc), small household electrical items, very reasonable prices, faultless service, loved them ever since I discovered them over 30 years ago!

Surprised I haven't reviewed this place before as Smith & Low is my absolute FAVOURITE shop in Oxford. This place has everything you will ever need in terms of household goods, ironmongery, hardware, bike parts, car batteries, tools, etc, etc, etc. It's an absolute treasure trove, staffed by knowledgeable blokes most of whom have been there for years! The only disappointment is that they don't wear brown smock coats in order to offer the full Ronnie Barker "fork handles" or "13amp plugs" experience. I'm always amazed they can find anything in here but it is meticulously laid out and planned and if they can't sell you the item on display they will disappear out the back, ferret around and reappear with said goods. You can buy single screws and bolts in here, no need for a packet of 50 or whatever. It's one of the last of it's kind and I cannot recommend it enough.

Just as good as the reviews make out. A proper old fashioned shop where you ask for things and they will recommend and get them for you rather than having to figure it out yourself in B&Q. They have absolutely everything, a few times I have gone and thought "they will never have this in stock, will have to order it in" but no, they come back 30 seconds later with whatever you want from an obscure corner. The staff are very helpful and will show you how to do things if you're not sure. Prices are very competitive, certainly for the service you get with it too. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

If you need something always try Smith and Low. That has become our family mantra. Since I moved to Oxford 26 years ago and my father in law introduced me to this wonderful shop, I have been a regular visitor. You cannot believe the amount of different items they carry and they never let you down. The sales team are knowledgeable and will help you find what you need as they seem to know where everything is which is a feat in itself. Remember this, if you need something out of the ordinary or you wish to fix something else always try Smith and Low first!

Smith and Low is one of my favourite shops worldwide , never mind the rest of Oxford! Staffed by men who really know what they are doing and who give great advice.. I have bought tools, electrical fittings, batteries, locks, hardware and quite a few things that I did not know that I needed. I alwayS leave the shop feeling better. THAT'S REAL RETAIL THERAPY!!

Don't bother trailing around big DIY stores just try here , you may not be sure of what you needed for a particular job but the expertise of the staff and being able to talk through what your looking for is invaluable ,you can't get this service anywhere else in Oxford. Parking at the rear also very useful.

This is an amazing diy/hardware store, they literally have every little thing you are looking for when in time of need. Plenty of stock, clean and tidy shelves and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The prices are much cheaper than bigger diy stores. a gem of Oxford, hope this shop never closes down.

I guess, like many, when I want some DIY stuff I head off to one of the big sheds and also like many are disappointed that often I can't get what I need and that advice is non-existent. So, I tried Smith & Low on recommendation. What a surprise! An Aladdin's cave for sure and staffed by brilliant , helpful and knowledgeable people. I quickly got a few quirky lamps that I'd chased round for weeks trying to find, no problem and at very keen prices too. They are a Hardware Shop like they used to be in the good old days! Family businesses like this one deserve to survive and prosper so I recommend you use them. That's certainly what I'll be doing in future!

This is an old fashioned store in the very best sense of the word. Brilliant staff who know their stuff good prices, and as far as possible they don't package 6 of an item when you only want 1. Also the shop is an Aladdins cave they stock many different lines.

Fantastic; I needed a washer for a modern bath pop-up waste plug.. Visited 3 or 4 plumbers merchants without success, they could only offer me a full new bath waste kit which would need a plumber to fit! Smith and Low had the item to hand. The price was probably 50% of online price[hint: Smith and Low you can easily charge £2.99 for almost anything.. I owe you] It was the correct little rubber washer, and was fitted in 3 minutes.. After minor adjustment of pop-up movement, the bath is no longer leaking.. Thank you.
