Reviews of Clas Ohlson
A. E.
The store is closing so there's a 30% on everything.
They have an array of things from household, baby things and general items.
As busy as the store is, you don't have to wait for long to checkout.
R. C.
Clas Ohlson on Broad Street is an interesting store. It has a bizarrely broad range of products. The experience is a little like another well known Swedish store where you walk in and are guided through the store in a maze like pattern. Kinda like being in the dingy rapids at a water park where you drift along with the general current spinning now and again when a product grabs your attention. I do like the products in here though and they are normally competitively/aggressively priced. The food wear and cook wear products are pretty good. I suspect the Swedish are a little OCD with food storage 🤷🏻♂️. It’s quite a good store and worth a visit.

Purchased a belt sander on Amazon/Clas Ohlson... sadly the belt wore through the underplate after 15 days from new.Contacted them and got a replacement next day with only a few pics attached to them of the issue.Just want to say mega big up the their customer service . Offered the option of sending it back or keeping the old one for spares. Thank you to Kirsty and Clas Ohlson for excellent service .
S. S.
Another Clas Ohlson closing! I tried to find the reason but I think we all know why!
E. T.
It is a pity. I only know this store recently. But it is being closed down soon. Managed to fetch a few items today during the closing sale.
K. B.
Nice place, reasonable prices, good range of things available from food containers to bike lights, to electrical. Shop is clean and well maintained. Staff friendly and helpful.
M. C.
Great selection of gadgets, house and kitchen utensils, some small furniture. Everything lovely and colorful, yet tasteful and very good quality. A bit pricey on some items, but really good offers on others. Worth the visit every time. Unfortunately, it will be closing soon, but there is currently 30% off on all items, so even better bargains can be found
R. Y.
Great store for quality functional home tools, gadgets, storage, diy and decor. Recommended... They just need my artwork!!!!
C. O.
Good place, its like IKEA for men
Lots of things you'll want, many you don't need, does feel like it could be a little more, needs some bravery and fresh thinking, could be ace
R. B.
Quality stuff which can be relied on to keep on doing its job. Excellent service Great range and guarantees they stand behind. For example, a couple of years pre covid, I had an excellent folding trolley I used heavily. About 10 months use and a wheel mount broke. Replaced the trolley immediately with an apology for the inconvenience and no hassle. Replacement still in heavy use. Value for money.
D. R.
I love this store. Can always find what you need. Even when I don't 'need' something I will always end up buying something
B. G.
Reading branch is my local shop
Very helpfull staff service with a smile.

I've never been here before but loved this shop! It is full if stuff you never knew you needed!! Well laid out with wide aisles and lots of interesting and well priced items.
A. D.
Sorry to hear it's closing. It's full of things I didn't know I wanted.
S. V.
Unfortunately this shop is closing, but there are still plenty of bargains to be had in their sale.
H. A.
Good selection of household goods and pleasant staff.
V. H. F.
Home wear is in very good price I like so much Clas Ohlson
J. G.
Love these shops shame they're closing down in the UK
N. P.
Always has fresh new home ideas, always take a peek when in town
R. G.
Very nice place to quickly get some electrical appliances and much more, must visit if you are buying things for your house or apartment
T. J. L.
Always love shopping here .
Quality at a good price!
C. G. C.
Always love looking at all the bits and pieces. There is always something I buy.
A. T.
One of the best shops to buy small appliances, DIY tools, decorations, stationery, cleaning products, camping and outdoor stuff with very reasonable prices. Also if you are a student you can get 10% discount.
P. G.
Fantastic shop for everything you don't know you need. Like a mini IKEA, but not quite as cheap. Fully accessible, even with a twin buggy.
S. R.
My go-to place for home decor and needs! (kinda like Target for my fellow Americans)
Update: sadly it is closing in August 2022
A.
One of the special markets for me.. I love this place very much. I always find everything I want in it.. The quality of the products is excellent for me and the prices I find are very good compared to the quality of the product
R. A.
One of my favourite shops. You get almost everything and cheaper too
D. H.
I was able to purchase a tv remote control. That was all I needed urgently as it was the only thing keeping my sanity during yet another lock down . Yes there were people in store and I'll give them their dues all had masks on. There was a hand cleaning stations in-store also for the public to use for free. And in general they were all keeping the 2m rule so all good .
S. G.
Literally you can do all your Christmas shopping in here! I bought a lovely pink small Christmas tree with all the decorations included at £2.99(it was only sale and originally it was about £5.99)!
If I would have had more money with me I would have spent millions for my Christmas🥲😂
Anything else you can find in too😂😂😬
T. H.
Closing clearance for 30% discount on all items
J. B.
Great for those small components/item that normally means an out of town DIY superstore.
S. P.
Strange blend of IKEA and B&Q. Some lines are clearly very good value, and the store caters to a broad range of household, kitchen, DIY, electrical, gardening, motoring, craft and travel needs
h. g.
Nice place overall. Something's might be bit expensive than other places but pretty big store and good stock as well.
C. P.
Great shop shame it's shutting down
J. H.
Like Gary said below, it's like an IKEA corner store! Stocks a good range of DIY/household basics. Have purchased a few things to help in fixing up my outdoor golf studio 🏌️😎👍
A. T. C.
Great store for tools, storage, camping & gadgets for in & around the home.
Sometimes difficult to find items due to the stores quirky layout but staff are always around to help out.
Items are great quality so cost a bit more than online but at least you can see & feel before you purchase.
I highly recommend the big bags of tea light candles, long burning & much cheaper than Yankee candles.
P. A.
I know this unintuitively arranged store well, so it didn't take too long to find what I needed (bought a cheap set of garden lights too). Shame there was a customer, who thought he didn't need to wear a mask in the store🙁😷
C. M.
Rarely go into town, so when I do I love to visit clas ohlson. Went specifically for a bulb which they had, and on offer so bonus!
P. R.
Really good to see a reasonably-priced hardware store in the centre of Reading. Bear in mind that many (but not all) of their products are 'own-brand', but the quality is good in most cases. All prices are low compared with larger, out-of-town stores.
T. T.
Easy to get around, plenty of stock.friendly till staff .
P. B.
An eclectic collection of hardware, kitchenware, office stuff and more. It feels very much like Ikea in its presentation.... If it works for them then why mess with the formula.
Useful place to go to get a gift for just about anyone.
M. C. H.
Favorite place on Earth! Got everything you need 😁
J. G.
There is nothing you can't find in this shop! Selection, quality and prices are fantastic. Really worth a visit before the large high st retailers.
D. A.
All the bits and pieces you can imagine.
D. M. S. (.
Went in to search for a cable today and found it easily with options to spare . Very tidy store, good stock and clean
G. M.
We love clas! Every time we go there we either see something new they've not had before or pick more products we love. Good selection of home goods, cleaning products especially. They have some nice tools and garden items. We always pick up dog biscuits as our little one finds them super tasty and small enough to eat.
G. O.
Nice shop....👌❤️
T. (.
This is a deceptively large shop, selling everything from homeware, to power tools.
It's actually the only remaining Clas Ohlson in the UK.
They also offer free Click & Collect for online orders.
Well worth a visit, as you never know what you might find!
S. S.
I like this store as it offer wide range tools and electronics. The only negative side it is not accessible for loading heavy items
S. S.
Nothing bought from this shop has failed me
J. O.
As a Swede, Clas Ohlson is, together with IKEA, like a second home. Here you'll find everything a Swede might need...tools, boxes, kitchen stuff, lots of other stuff, and swedish sweets 🍬
R. T.
Place has a reasonably mixed selection of items, from small electrical items, tools to rucksacks.
A. A.
Brilliant shop with quality utensils, appliances and light duty tools at reasonable prices
A. K.
The staff are great but the store is sort of all over the place and in some places a little cramped. Its not very easy to find what your looking for based on the store layout.
N. N.
A very interesting place to go to for all sorts of items.
Conveniently situated on the High Street, Clas Ohlson is very much like the idea of everyday, handy items.
Selling things from batteries, kitchenware, 3D printers and gardening equipment, you really get the impression this store is for everyone!
The layout can bit a bit confusing with lots of areas all tucked away, so it's best to explore, but if you are looking for something that you'd normally order online, this is the place to find it.
The prices are a little bit higher than what you'd find online, but that being said the convenience of going into a high street shop and getting it there and then is worth it.
Worth a visit!
A.
Great, does most home related things, but limited range of items.
Not many staff around to ask if you need help finding something, but they're generally friendly and helpful.
G. H.
A place to buy pretty much anything!
If you're looking for something you would normally assume no high street shop would have, I would start here for sure.
They have a wide range of products including homewear, electronics, lighting, DIY and the more unusual boating equipment, 3D printers, electronic components and more!!!
The prices are never going to compete with Amazon or eBay but for convenience and less hassle it's a great shop to try!
T. L.
Great place, has a bit of everything you didn't realise you needed, and lots of stuff you don't need but buy anyway
L. T.
It's a weird blend between Wilkos, homebase, lakeland & ikea! Clas Olson now online only (2020) except store in Reading which is it's flagship. Worth a browse, it's has some nice items.
b. S. F.
Quite a lot of essentials in one place. Decent price point
T. B.
Only took me about two minutes to find what I was looking for, didn't even need to ask a member of staff. Got what I wanted at a price I was happy to pay. Could probably have done with some more staff on the tills as there was a fair size queue and only one till open.
S. D.
I want to love it, but I never quite find what I need and if I do it's often a touch pricier than I could get it online.
Go there if you want to wander about and get ideas for interesting projects or things to decorate with or maybe if you're thinking of using your bike (etc) again, then you'll find locks, lights etc here. Maybe you want to spruce up your bathroom or kitchen? Wander about and you will either find things you want or get inspiration for things to get.
Like I say, a good shop but I can't quite love it
M. H.
A very convenient and useful store that have got most of items that you would need for DIY, household and leisure.
The cash tills are a bit sluggish and slow. I've been to the store dozens of times in the past and not even a single time the cashier has made an eye contact, smile or shown a bit of friendly attitude!
The biggest problem is to find someone on the shop floor to help answer queries and to locate the items. They have recently modified the store and relocated a few sections and it's difficult to meander down the Isles that were so familiar and some of the regular it's in the hardware section completely disappeared.
B. M.
It's a shame it's closing down.
Y. C.
I saw this website for the first time online and was not very sure about it. However after I saw their contact and spoke to Mohammed over the photo yesterday regarding one of the product,
I decided to give it a go. Overall experience is fantastic. Not forgetting Saman on the online chat box as well . They are very helpful and I receive my parcel the next day. Super fast service. DPD delivery was very up-to-date and I don't have to wait whole day like others. I got one hour slot time which mean delivery will be done in that slot time. Will definitely shop with you again :)
J. B.
Ooooh I love this shop, has pretty much anything that you never realised you needed
S. G.
Really nice products with quite a wide range too. From kitchenware to all sorts of tools if you need it they may well have it.
Z.
Excellent option for homeware and garden pieces, and nice to browse too. Affordable but generally decent quality goods. They have a huge selection of products, ranging from decorative to DIY - so if in doubt, Clas Ohlson will most likely be able to sort it out!
M. H.
This store is huge and there's a wide variety of products. Prices are so so, slightly more expensive than IKEA in my opinion but quality isn't as good. It does sell a lot of home decoration products though so worth a look if you're doing DIY.
J. F.
On the plus side carries a wide range of good quality value for money hardware and assorted goods plus the staff are efficient and helpful. So why not 5 stars? Because it's difficult to find your way around in it, the labelling towards the exit it particular is awful.
G. H.
We are the only people to now have access to a physical shop, in the whole of the UK! Sadly, other shops have closed!
Lovely to visit and get ideas for Christmas! Very practical shopping for real, basic necessities of life too.
T.
This is a great place to for everything under one roof. They dont have their own car parking. And can be a little hard to find something your after as there isnt any real clear signs. Plus i guarantee youll find it hard to find a staff member to help. But there will be one eventually. Id say they were moderately priced. You may find something way over priced. Yet have great bargains to. They used to have a plumbing section. Queuing times are pretty minimal even when busy which is great. Overall pretty good place to go for a all in one shop.
R. A.
Anti covid measures are great, lots of space and the one way system works well! Everyone wearing masks too,so glad it was open, no plug no bath!!! Thanks clas
T. h.
Good choice of products for the house and garden they sell all sorts from batteries to lighting . outdoor tools snd camping gear a little bit of most things. Friendly staff good customer service.
J. S.
Love this shop always does the bits you need at a reasonable price
R. B.
Great store for any hardware needs, not often busy and generally staff are helpful.
D. S.
My favorite Swedish hardware store when I'm in the UK. It's hard to say this is just a hardware store with everything that they sell.
One of my favorite visits was for a replacement laptop cord. Now, I don't need a travel convertor for my laptop and the price was only a few pounds.
The staff are trained well and always helpful.
C.
I love this place. I always find really good original presents for my family at Christmas and it is reasonably priced. My heart sank when I read in the local press that all their British and German shops were to close. I hope it's not true.
C. T. L.
Is one of my favourite places to buy. You can find almost anything for a decent price.
R. K.
Just a quick visit on this occasion whilst my partner had an appointment in Reading. Shop is fully stocked as usual and I managed to acquire a 3 box mini storage organiser system for my fishing tackle at an absolute bargain price of £2.49
Y. F. T.
Trusted website.Highly recommended.Efficient, helpful and friendly customer service. Accidentally returned a parcel without including a return form, talked to them and they managed to make a refund for me.
j. w.
Some things are a bit pricey but good if you need something for the house or for decorating
e. “. T.
Lots of choices. They stock a lot of good stuff. Good prices.
M. W.
Just love this shop. Dangerous always come out with something. Good prices and range of items. Useful for cheap tools and electrical bits and pieces..and other things.
L. O.
Love this shop. Variety of useful items especially gardening. Unusual but attractive items. Prices very reasonable. Will always pop into one of their shops even if i dont need anything..
R. S.
It's a great shop.
Staff very helpful. When I asked for an item seen online but not on display. It was rapidly produced from the storage area.
Shame there are no facilities for checking the stock oneself though.
H. S.
Brilliant! Great prices and excellent service and a whole range of house hold quality items
M. A.
Great shop with everything you need and anything else you don't need but can come in handy. It's a pity it's found in only a few places in the country. Appears to be great quality too.
L.
Fantastic service, I ordered a new barbecue from clas ohlsen on amazon, it arrived and unfortunately during transit the lid had been badly damaged! I called clas ohlsen directly and spoke to steph, she was extremely professional and understanding and has sent a replacement for next day delivery along with a confirmation email.
As far as I'm concerned this was top class customer service and I know to order from them again.
B. M. (.
As said not got what was looking for but can see potential to be useful.
B.
Many items.. A bit of a hotpotch... But always something that you realise you need!!!
W. K.
This is a great shop for the stuff that you cannot find elsewhere. They have in GB positioned themselves higher than where I got to know them (Norway), where they are more a "budget" shop. Nevertheless I think this is a great contribution to Reading and their selection of products is just different from others, so more choice!
G. M. (.
I often find most of my home improvement items such as: desk fan, ethernet cable, mould remover, screwdriver set. These items aren't easily found in other shops and I like being able to see the product than hoping for the best by buying online.
K. W.
A treasure trove of things I didn't know I needed. Something for everyone, especially at this time of year. Reasonably priced too.
N. H.
A shop where you can spend hours and either come out with lots of stuff or come out with nothing. Anything and everything you need for your home is here, but the choice can be overwhelming at times. The store tries to lay out items in well defined areas so as long as you can find the area you are looking for you should be ok. You could probably find what you are looking for in this store if you can't find it elsewhere.
J. Y. (.
It truly is the everything shop. It's in the same market as Robert Dyas, it's just much more nicely laid out.
A. G.
Good stock for home
S. D.
I walked right past initially even though I was heading there as the outside is completely covered in scaffolding at the moment so don't miss it! The things I was looking for were quite expensive there though perhaps because they were branded.
S. C.
Nice place, good prices and is open in Lock Down. Veri variety of product and the best price. I enjoy a lot this week there.
G. P.
A handy shop to have in central town. If you don't feel like trekking all the way out to the IKEA, give the Clas Ohlson a try. They have a good and varied stock list and affordable prices. Staff can seem despondent at times but will usually help you if you approach them.
M. J.
This shop always has lots of good products all year round I generally order online as I live in the Midlands so was really good to get in store and have a proper look at everything.
R. K.
You have to love a bit of Clas. It's like the middle aisle in Aldi, excepts it's a whole shop. All you could possibly need!
J. P. S. F.
This place has a wide variety of products. The prices are a little bit too high in my opinion. Staff is not there when you need them. For instance I was looking for somebody to help me buy an HDD stored in a locked cabinet. Nobody to be seen around.
G. B.
I popped in for a high visibility vest which they had in stock. The shop was nice and tidy and staff were helpful
S. J.
Lots of household products.
Would like to see more staff on the shop floor.
Hardly any staff around if you have any questions.
M. G.
Good choice some unusual items
c. d.
Great house hold items all ways buy 3d filament
R. J.
It was good easy to access and had what I needed at very low cost
A. M.
You can always find what you are looking for here. From hardware bits, computer equipment and lights and anything in between. The prices are good and the quality of the stuff I have bought are holding up.
A. O.
Bit of a confusing layout, though did eventually have everything I was after
F. M.
What can I say, I just love this store! Even if I'm not buying anything, just to nose around and browse all the interesting things that they have for sale.
H. M.
A good place for a wide range of items for the home or shop.
C. G.
Really like this shop. Lots of good things to buy..
B. M.
Good helpful staff good range.
K. C.
Clas Olsen offers a wide array of items; household, gardening, office, DIY and electrical goods. Depending on what you want, you can grab a bargain but otherwise their prices are just as much or more expensive for the convenience of not having to travel to a superstore.
The store in general is always tidy and clean, the staff are always friendly and willing to offer help.
J. B.
Sadly this is the last Clas Ohlson shop in the whole of the UK.
I really like this brand, and I find this shop very pleasant to browse. They offer original quality products.
C. M.
Interesting variety of products on sale, well presented. Some items are a little expensive do you need to check prices carefully
D. C.
A sort of Woolworths for the 21st century. It sells bric-a-brac type things in quite a chaotic manner.
Y. H.
Love this shop everything g you want under one roof.
T. W.
Not quite up to comparison with Drew's but close. The last Class Ohlson in the country with something for everyone. It would be better if they added to the boat section and advertised to the local boating community.
C. P.
It's basically an IKEA, but without the furniture. Lots of cheap, high quality goods for the home. My wife and I got almost everything we needed to make our home work here.
l. g.
Love this shop, you find all kinds of things here
A. T.
Love the shop as it has a variety of products sometimes they are really cheap sometimes more expensive that you think! But they have a good range.
T. L. K. U.
I love this store the only issue is i always come out with loads more than i actually need. You can buy almost anything here though and lots of bits you never knew you wanted.
J. M.
What a great place to shop so many things to tempt you
S. C.
Has pretty much everything you need for your house and a small tool/DIY section. Watch out for the bargain bins where some cheap stuff can be grabbed. Found some of the PC hardware to be on the expensive side.
V. P.
Most staff are very helpful and willing to leave what they are doing to help find things. There a couple that will direct you and that's it. Products are great and great brand.
w. w.
Really organised shop, they have moved a few things about since i was last there, polite and helpful staff, a pleasant experience overall.
K. G.
Not many floor staff
R. R.
Wide range of products. Reasonable prices. Very few assistants on shop floor, so you'd best know your stuff.
D. M.
Great Shop
Varied range of usefulness
M. S.
So much reasonably priced things you didn't even know you needed. Loved this place, first visit, will defo be back.
S. Q.
Amazing place. A adults toy shop I originally called the place. Much better than Robert Dyas. Which is why that place closed down. I hear Reading Clas Ohlson will be the only one left in Reading. YAY
M. W.
Great stock, good prices and very nice ppl working there 👏👍
S. W.
It's such a great shop to find almost everything you could want or need and the prices are good to go in there everytime I go to Reading.
R. E.
This is a really useful store to visit which sells everything from washers to washing up bowls, torches to light fittings, and more. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. 10/10
A. G.
Lovely selection of stuff. Bits that could be useful. Lots of space one way system.
F. W.
Lots of veriety es . But you need to be careful with health and safety compliance .as I found unattended ladder . Also staff are in rush and not passion at all
The gentleman who served me . He made me feel that I have to shut up and stop asking more questions
J. V.
Got lots of good quality tools and equipment.
G. F.
Some staff are very helpful, where's others not only have no idea about products but do not know who in the store can help. Was unable to buy what I was looking for for this reason
T. C.
A real gem of a shop in Reading. Just great for lots of useful stuff that you generally can't find anywhere else. Good online catalogue that's well worth checking out.
I. T.
Very helpful staff!!!
A. C.
A very useful shop for most thing around the house/garage/shed/garden etc. Staff always helpful. Reasonably priced and good quality.
A.
Good selection of items, just nothing really tickled my fancy
S. C.
Place for everything (well nearly). The quality of their own electrical goods is 3 star and the service is okay. But a great place for lots of things. Not as cheap as it could be
H. S.
Great selection of all sorts of stuff from kitchen, bathroom, garage, life style, DIY, electrical.
Good prices. Mostly friendly staff.
A go to for all household needa
L. D.
Clas Ohlson is one of those shops that you didn't know you needed something until you shopped there.
What seems like a random collection of home, office and DIY goods, you can always find a bargain!
E. A.
Great shop so much verity and reasonably priced
L. D.
If you are looking for anything household wise it's one of the best shops
g. v.
Used to be competitive on price but not really now. Might find some unusual designs, otherwise your local super store probably better value
T. I.
Good store has lots of well priced products that are good quality. Despite this lacks some things you'd expect a store of this kind to have e.g. paint.
D. S.
Asked for help (saves time), got everything I needed in record time too!
E. T.
It's a Clas Ohlson, if it is hardware or DIY related they probably have it or an alternative. It is great for bits and bobs and hardware/homeware present shopping
However i would NOT go here if you are looking for anything other than small single jobs. There are far better, cheaper alternatives locally. Best bet is Drew's the Ironmongers opposite TGI fridays. There is also a Wilko on the top floor of broad street mall which may have what you want and is only about 150m away
Example: Pack of M5 bolts (10) at clas ohlson was about £2.50.
They were 3p each at Drew's (so 30p for 10).
Also we have 2 Screwfixes and a Toolstation so if you need anything and are not in an urgent rush in the middle of town i would look at the cheaper alternatives.
M. K.
There was no help at thank to give advise or direction inside the store it needs a map to show the various sections or drop down signs.
S. R.
Brilliant store with quality tools and electric stuff you can not find anywhere else around Prices are also very good.
R. Y.
Great selection. Extremely diverse. Good quality products. Things you never knew you needed!
A. B.
We love Clas Ohlson. The other half says it's like a safari park of tools and equipment. He has bought a lot in there since it opened!
F. H.
What a great selection of goods. Couldn't resist. My wife says fantastic, wish we had one in Gloucester.
P. M.
Lovely friendly staff came out with more than I needed. Security guard is a very good salesman ha ha
G. B.
Very good DIY shop, to me its like Ikea's corner store. Full of great little useful items. I go here when ever I visit the shops in Reading.
J. G.
Love this store wish we had one in Falmouth
N. M.
A European take on a hardware store not too dissimilar to some of the items you may find at IKEA. Good quality good price
R. Y.
Great store full of diy, hardware, home enhancements, gifts, car and cycle stuff, tools and more!!! Recommended...
V. W.
You can always find things to buy in this shop even items you didn't know you needed. All at reasonable prices to.
h.
Freindily staff good diy kitchen stuff i would say its at a decent price i would also say typical amount of time in shop probs 15 to 25 mins
L. S.
PROS:
- ample choice of (useful and less useful) stuff (very well stocked up),
- big store,
- convenient location on Broad St,
- staff is usually helpful and friendly,
- no lines
CONS:
- pricey,
- not always the best quality.
k. m.
Really good range of homewares, tools and other sporting goods. Reasonable prices too.
C. F.
Cheap and has all you need for the house and a reasonable price and not bad brand and good quality
V. P.
Really nice store. It is not expensive. You can buy almost everything you need around the house and garden.
N. S.
A reasonable selection of tools and small hardware. A shame that the woodworking hardware has disappeared following the recent shop size reduction.
R. S.
Business as usual with helpful staff and good range of goods.
A. G.
Some very helpful products for the household, have often found good ideas. Quality not always the best, so look closely at the products.
A. R.
Best assortment of everything you can think of, literally think of it and they have it in this store, never fails to impress!
W. G.
If you nred some household and DIY items and you in the town centre then this is the only place to go. Almost bizarrely wide range of items. Pretty efficient service and helpful staff.
S. M.
Great shop. Very many products, all well organised. Variety and good prices
n. v.
