Reviews of Wickes
A great discount store with ample parking and a huge choice of stuff to buy.
We visited the bathroom and kitchen section. There were scores of items on display including baths, showers, cabinets, toilets and kitchen stuff and fittings. The section seemed a bit cluttered.
The store was almost empty at about 4:30 pm on Saturday but we couldn’t find anyone to ask a question to choose the right type of complete toilet to buy. The toilets fitted in the showroom were badly looked after. The seats were loose and did not give the impression of good quality fitting. The female staff was helpful at the till to answer some of our query.
We waited aimlessly for someone to arrive but no luck. Eventually we left and headed to another store!! Pity!!m
Whent just at the right time not to busy and found what I was looking for no hanging around. Staff very helpful well done.
Helpful staff, even though they would not accept the voucher I had been sent from Dulux Customer Services.
Always have a good range of products. Prices are good. You have to pick your products carefully as some products are damaged or bags are split open. More recently been very impressed with the click and collect service especially the contact free drop off bays.
Went there to get Tiles Adhesive, paint for garden fence, paint brush and a paint sprayer. Luckily they were in the stock. But not many trollies outside to carry them, managed to get one finally.
Cheaper than selco for the items purchased and we'll stocked
Good store, easy access, clean in the most of the places but remember, it's a hardware store not museum. Lotnof items are missing on the shelves but it might be cause of covid. Staff always friendly and helpful. I like this place.
Useful builders merchants but very short on trolleys, and very few staff around to assist if needed. Generally, you can find what you want but check labels. I bought 3m of the wrong pipe because it was in the wrong storage bay, and being only 2mm dia different, not so easy spot immediately. No big deal but required a second visit for the correct stuff!
Arrived at 0900hrs very quiet -picking up peat last bag 120lt £8 but full pallet 50lt price not marked up?
On exit tills service was good -assistants should be checking all items price up during quiet times
Placed a click and collect order.
Was a little confusing finding where to go.
Ended up walking through the shop queuing for the checkout then being directed to the click and collect area.
This was mostly my fault for not taking longer to read the small notices around the doors but
slightly better signage would be good.
My items were all
All good. Make sure you take your receipts when you pay for your goods, otherwise, you risk not being able to get credit back on any unused Wickes materials you purchased.
Has pretty good stock levels. Wasn't too busy so easy to socially distance. The entrance is actually on the left near the Halfords end not the usual entrance so they can enforce a one way system. Plenty of free parking.
This Wickes has a large section of wood in different sizes which is very useful when you're doing home DIY projects.
Great variety of stuff. Wickes is kinda geared towards builders. But they are usually very helpful. There easy parking and a great place to get good food. In the-car. park A pet suppply is next door and Halfords very close
Absolutely brilliant during lockdown, exceptional markings for social distancing and measured amount of people entering and leaving the store. Plentiful free parking. Well stocked and helpful staff!
I used to love the service in this shop, however, since Covid the service standards seem to have gone down a lot! Hard to get help and you almost have to grab someone just to ask a question. I still like Wickes as a shop but the Reading one needs a little improvement in the customer service area.
Went to buy a Redwood plank which was supposedly in stock but this redwood range had just been dropped from sales ranges and store had received instructions from their HQ to scrap/remove remaining stock so none were left. No point in going to another Wickes store elsewhere.
Visited during lockdown. Easy to access and exit, with a one way system. Queuing at the tills has flooring markings to keep socially distanced. Normal range of DIY tools etc on offer.
Staff are always very helpful
Love the trade paint. Handy and local. Most own products are very good quality. Not always the cheapest and it takes a while to pull out onto the Oxford Rd from the car park on busy weekends.
Have been doing some major work in our back garden. All material was purchased from Wickes. Staff was very helpful in making sure we got all the right stuff and some good advice given on the way as well. Polite and great customer service. Very reasonable with their prices.
Wicks is more for the professional builder than the DIY man. But they do have a wide range of building wood.
Great place for several different walks to suit all ages, plus the little cafe does brilliant pasties and sausage rolls with your coffee.
Today I bought 3 Trade Paints. White silk oil based wood paint, Magnolia Vinyl Matt wall paint and white vinyl Matt ceiling paint.
They were much cheaper than Dulux, but I am extremely pleased with the quality. I will get back to you about longevitive.
Wicks had what I wanted but only 1 check out open unlike B&Q who have multiple checkouts open, so will not be shopping at Wicks till they get there act together.
Good kitchen range but entrance to store looks like place is empty and shut! Just browsing anyway but no staff on shop floor about.
I recently purchased Wickes Multi Purpose compost and it is the best I have ever bought. All my plug plants are thriving whereas last year with another well known brand of multi-purpose compost they hardly grew and I had a very bad show of plants.
Well organised for "distancing" and trolleys rourinely cleaned before use. Staff member was very helpful sourcing me some additional post fixings.
Not a problem with the store or staff, although were in a pandemic, the shop looked almost dirty and abandoned from outside due to how dirty the windows were!
Fare prices. Happy they've opened and are serving customers during this lockdown period.
Thanks to all the Wickes staff serving customers.
Needed some DIY supplies so decided to visit Wickes. Found everything I needed today and I received a friendly greeting on my arrival 😀 which was nice
Not a lot of stock when I went but helpful, friendly service
Nice and warm inside on cold day. Click and collect was ready, no problems
Not the best Wickes around, often out of stock and some lazy staff. Saving grace is that there are a couple of really good staff working there
Reasonable DIY shop but can be limited, don't always trust website stock listing. Had problems with it.
Such a different place from the winnersh branch which seems to suffer from lack of deliveries. These branch had everything I needed.
Nice store, easy parking and had what I needed at a good price. Happy! Oh and it's local to West Reading.
Great if it had the right stock or tidied the place up, get more staff in and sort it out
It was a good experience today, looking for one idea, and got a better idea instead
Don't often have everything I need but must say bathroom offering has improved hugely
Had every thing we needed so yeah very good not bad prices
Wickes have a decent enough range of stuff, but if you're in need of help, the staff are not particularly clued up.
Staff are great but they need to employ more to keep the shelves stocked
Used click and collect.Website easy to use with items ready to collect within 1 hour.
Very helpful staff, reasonable rates and if you apply for a trade account you get a further 10% discount on top of there multi buy deals

Reading groundworks
Helpful and friendly lady on the til. Makes shopping lot easier we even had a joke
Normally great but disappointing today with lots of gaps on tbe shelves and in the outdoor area
Good social distancing queueing system to get in, check stock before going though as not fully stocked at present
Not the best store fairly well stocked but items mis priced or not at all staff on a different planet day I went
10 minutes wait a one way system and they had what I needed more stock than was on their website.
Not too busy. Covid safe. Stock levels ok.
All trade supplies and open to general public at good prices plus free parking
had everything I needed for a quick DIY job at a good price, even managed to get some cheap tools
Standard store for all your building supplies fair priced and well laid out
Great store. Best DIY shop accessible from Reading town centre by bus.
It's a wicks but well stocked and easy to find what you need.
Over priced but convenient and well stocked store.
Great shop, friendly staff, safe distance queue and arrows for Covid.
Great bargains on paints. I bought a gutter cleaner for £2.00.
If you know what you want and they have it then the value is really good
It's ok. Everything but limited choice. Why sell tiles if not much choice.
They have a good stock. Worth a look.
Not bad to shop they're 😁
Good store with good product selection, usually at a competitive price.
Not always the cheapest, but ok selection. Usually quick in and out!
