I had a problem with some fence wood stain that I ordered online, one tub was perfect. When I came to open another tub some time later I found that it was just green water. I had a very mixed response to an online request for help. I decided to phone my nearest Wickes store about 40 miles away and spoke with Chloe who offered to give me a new tub of stain without any quibble. She put a tub aside for me to pick up. Excellent service. Staff like Chloe are invaluable!

If there were more stars available, I'd give them. The manager of this store is a top woman. I had a complaint, she fixed it and then some. Probably the best customer service I've ever had.

When I visited the Wrexham store recently, I needed a bit of help finding a solution for some guttering I needed. The first person who came to help me (I didn't catch their name) was pleasant and polite, and when they weren't quite sure of a solution they asked someone else to help. This person was called Andy. I explained the situation to Andy who was incredibly helpful. Aside from helping identify a solution, the best part of the experience was the first person, and Andy, both spoke directly to me. As a woman, my experiences continually end up that I am speaking and explaining something and the person I'm explaining it to (especially if it's DIY or car related) speaks to my male partner (who then directs back to me). My experience at Wickes in Wrexham was not like that at all and it was SO GOOD. Andy spoke directly to me, maintained eye contact, and never once tried to answer my question to my partner. It was a revelation. It properly made my day. Ladies, if you want an experience where someone actually acknowledges you and speaks to you when you speak, get to Wickes in Wrexham.

I have used this wickes branch for parts for a couple of largish home projects now and have always found there in store staff to be helpful and friendly. Not always the cheapest option but defiantly convenient and I can normally find what I need/want.

Great place to play hide and seek in! Honestly, my missus went missing here for hours, took me an age to find her! Great paint, reckon the Wickes own paint is better than most so called top brands. My favourite DIY store. It is funny though that men are usually found wistfully staring at power tools or big hammers as the woman folk look for that subtle-shade-of-white-that-isnt-really-white-but-a-really-gentle-tinge-of-lilac-that-isnt-white-it-is-your-eye-sight-darling-how-can-you-say-that-is-white?

Messy outside, no pricing there or not consistently, also not sure why the plant feed, weed killers etc considered as non-essential so not possible to buy when B&Q or Bevans are selling it with no restriction
