I’ve worked at ARI now for a year as a locum anaesthetic practitioner, I can honestly say it’s by far the most friendliest, welcoming hospital I’ve worked in over a 20 plus years career. The staff are amazing, extremely hard working and everyone gets on. They are all a credit to the trust. I highly recommend anyone wanting a career as a Dr, nurse or any allied profession, come to Aberdeen.

From the time I arrived to the time it was for me to go home. The staff on wards 302 301 and colonoscopy department I couldn't of asked for any better care. Staff are so friendly and reassuring. Nothing was to much. I would like to say a massive thankyou to you all for making my experience of coming into hospital such a pleasent one as could be. Sending love to you all xxx

I honestly can't praise the team on ward 106a (coronary care) enough.
They have shown true professionalism and care and have reassured us every step of the way when unfortunately the treatment at another hospital in the grampian nhs area (Elgin) fell nothing short of negligent.

Stayed overnight in Hospital Hotel prior to Op. Very good. Room plus there is a Kitchen/Diner with tea, coffee, milk, packet soups etc provided.

Decent facilities and friendly staff.
Helped us professionally and had no problems. It would have been a bit faster though.

Visit to A&E as dislocated shoulder. The A&E staff are outstanding, very caring, explain everything and managed pain. All sorted and cannot thank them enough. Brilliant.

I work here and I know first hand all the hard work and long hours the staff put n to make things work- the cleaners, domestics, nursing staff, doctors and allied medical staff. We are not paid well enough for all we do but continue just because we love the job!

Will never forget the hard work the amazing nurses and doctors went through and helping me. The dedication and amazing hard work from the lovely nurses will always hold a place dear to my heart. Definitely some of the best nurses in the country. The nhs would be nothing without all your hard work! Many thanks you all deserve the world for all your hard work. Hopefully one day I can walk back in there and personally thank you myself.

I had a small accident and went to A&E at 7am. By 7.45 I had been registered, assessed and x-rayed and sitting waiting for the fracture clinic to open. Fantastic service. ♡♡♡

This hospital nursed my dad for three months in 2018. I wouldn’t of wanted him to be anywhere else for his care. All of the staff and doctors were amazing first class care compassionate and professional. Unfortunately they couldn’t save him as he was too poorly, but they went over and above to make him comfortable. First Class Care well done to you all from all of the Munro family xx

My son was discharged from Ward 214 ARI this afternoon and I cannot give enough praise to the Consultants, Doctors, Nurses and every other member of staff who have treated him. He has been admitted to the Ward several times over the past 18 months and I have been very impressed by the dedication, skill and professionalism of the Staff. You all do an amazing job and your friendliness make life so much easier for the patient and family whilst in hospital. Thank you all so much, from The Simpson Family x

I was recently in ward 210 to recover after an operation and I have to say that the nurses and staff on the ward were brilliant. I can't fault them at all and am amazed at how well they look after everyone in the ward, always managing to keep a smile on their faces and help you regardless of how busy they were.
A huge thanks to everyone on ward 210!

I am just about to leave ward 216 where I've been recovering from major lung surgery ... I'm about 5 days post op now and from start to finish I don't think I could have been in better hands. Every member of staff (docs, nurses, support staff) has been excellent. Kind , attentive, caring, and thorough. Without these people, this painful journey would have been a whole lot harder to endure.
Thank you!!

I am 69, & was in Ward 216 for a heart valve replacement at the end of September. I don't want to single anyone out, they know who they are ! I wish to record my thanks and gratitude to all the hard pressed staff who , basically, saved my life.
It's decades since I was last a patient. I expected days of pain, bedsores, hot sweaty beds, infections, and mistakes, which I thought would be par for the course, as I would at least get a fighting chance. (I knew the food would be good, because I was brought up to eat everything)
Anyway, I was amazed how at every stage there was a clear method that meant I experienced none of this. For example, the post op pain control using the self administering device - such a contrast to the injections of pethidine I remember in early 1980's. The staff couldnt have been more diligent. And it was clean, I watched the cleaners carefully & was impressed.
One of the things I was dreading was lying in a pool of sweat in a stifling ward. But no, the beds are breathable, and the ambient temperature spot on. I noticed on one of the wall charts in the corridor that ward temperature is something they take seriously & work on.
I thought the food was excellent -( I said this to one of the male nurses, but he told me I should get out more!)
Maybe you think this is the typical outpouring of someone in a post operative state of elation. But, this is two months later... when reactive depression is supposed to be a danger-(according to my booklet. ) But, thanks to A.R.I. ,I'm actually quite happy.

My wife gave birth to our lovely daughter in the Maternity Hospital and we visited several time the children hospital for check-ups. I have to admit that the midwives were angles on earth and the treatment was close to perfect. Although my background experience and the smoothness of all the visits (nature played with us) but that don’t change the fact that the overall treatment was tremendous and amazing. Not sure about other departments, but this was as far my experience.
And by the way, if you don’t have a life threatening condition, don’t go to A&E, for people from some countries this might be a surprise.

Great nurses and doctors, rudest receptionist ever.

Clean and great staff i was well looked after on the two occasions I have been in hospital. I'm guessing we are very lucky to have such a great hospital in Aberdeen. The relaxing of any visiting time rules is great eases congestion and is exactly what is required when everyone has such busy schedules. A family member was in intensive care for a couple of weeks and the work that goes in there is just outstanding. I will give a great example of just how good this hospital is. After hearing some bad news in the ICU I went into one of the corridors. Got confused and a little lost disoriented a staff member who was finishing there shift noticed me. There was say 50 other members of the public in this corridor she put her arm round me told me every thing would be alright. And helped me find my way back to the ICU. A really nice moment during a stressful time

The waiting times aren't that great, I had to wait 7 months for a specialist appointment and I have heard that some people have had to wait years which is quite unfortunate. NHS Grampian needs to do something about this! I was happy with the quality of care I received, every staff member I met listened to me and understood what I had to say. I just hope that someone does something about these wait times so that people don't have to suffer for months and months without specialist help.
Also some places are a bit hard to find. It would be helpful if the signposting was more comprehensive.

was referred to the maxillofacial dept by my own dentist for 3 wisdom/extractions due to me being an extremely nervous patient from previous bad experiences . After a LOT of nerves/nightmares/fears etc finally Had my app at 3:15pm yesterday and i cannot praise the doctor and the 2 nurses that dealt with me so professionally during my time there (names escape me because i got so worked up everything was a blur). Embarrassed to admit they Literally held my hand from waiting room through the actual procedure and made me feel at ease just from talking me through things /assuring me everything would be fine. Needless to say they were completely right , i was fine and had built it up in my head to be way worse than it was. I feel quite silly now but extremely relieved that i finally got the work done and i defo could not have got through it without such caring and compassionate staff. I have nothing but praise for this department and it’s staff.Well done and keep up the good work you are all really making a difference. My fears are as good as gone.

Pleasant staff, always helpful. Yes, there's a wait appropriate to the degree of urgency of the complaint, but I can't fault the skills, expertise and service. Many thanks to all who helped.

Amazing staff in maternity, just short on some equipment. Partner left in agony for hours due to gas and air shortage. Apart from that top notch!

I was admitted to the cardiac unit. The staff, care and the facilities in general were second to none. Outstanding in just about every regard. Thank you, ARI.
