I cut my hand on a dog food lid in the recycle bin and as it was on my knuckle and quite deep, it would not heal.
Visited the Ulster armed with a Kindle to while away the time that I thought I would be spending there on a Saturday morning.
After giving my details to reception, I was directed to the Minor Injuries Unit. I was seen immediately and three stitches later I was done.
Whole process took less than 30 minutes, fantastic service, just brilliant!
Thank you to all concerned.

Attended A+E at Ulster Hospital this morning. Yes, it took nearly 4 hours but that included having bloods taken, analysed and reported. Everyone I interacted with - receptionist, triage nurse, phlebotomy nurse and doctor were professional and friendly. Thank you to all for the job you do, it’s clear you work in a busy, intense environment.

I have been coming here for the past six years to manage my IBD. The IBD nurses are fantastic, especially Gayle Martin who rang me on her day off when I was in a big flare.
The main complaint is that I haven't seen my consultant since before the start of the pandemic, but the care I've received from the nurses and gastroenterology pharmacist is fantastic.
Thank you ❤️

See so many reviews blaming the staff for the waiting times and lack of service when infact they are doing well beyond the best they can. If you want to shout at someone try shouting at the politicians whom have promised to help the health service but have only helped themselves. Beyond a joke now. Nurses & workers can only do so much. Look to the top end and ask them the questions. Regardless of what sh1t the nurses have been through they always smile and ask if they can do anything to help or will help cheer you up. Honestly we would be lost without everyone in the hospital looking after us. Just imagine how it would look if the politicians took over instead. All left to die as they sit about sipping tea waiting on their next pay rise.

The Emergency department Reception staff who looked after us on the 10/1022 @ approx 2pm were excellent. Caring and compassionate. We can't thank you enough.
K. M.
Attended the Day Procedure Unit on 8th July. I cannot praise the staff highly enough, especially my nurse, Sharon. They were all wonderful and made me totally at ease during my stay there.

My dad and daughter have been sent to A&E in the last week by our GP. They both stated they would be wasting staff time but GP was insistent.
They were both treated quickly with respect and kindness.
This hospital does an amazing job.
W. M.
Had a tough year as did everyone due to the pandemic. Ulster did all possible to have my op. Great team and the after care exceptional. Many thanks to all at the Ulster
G. E.
My experience in the Accident department was a very positive one. Every single team member worked skillfully, effectively and with empathy. Five stars doesn't go anywhere near what these people deserve.
C. M.
I attended A&E a week ago,it was so busy, but every nurse & doctor who attended to me were polite, friendly, really reassuring - when obviously they are under pressure,I was admitted & needed urgent surgery, again all staff were brilliant - my care on ward 5A couldn't be faulted, the food has improved vastly & the place was spotless, thanks to all staff who cared for me 😚
H. R.
Many thanks to all the staff in the EAU unit of the Ulster Hospital. Nurses Shannon, Saheed, Sam, Christine, Deputy Sr Kathleen and Drs Glen & Clare. My dad is 92, frail and elderly with dementia. He and the full and busy unit were all treated with the utmost kindness, respect and professional expertise throughout a busy shift . Thank you for your care.

I just want to say what an amazing job the nurses do for the patients in the A&E. The nurses are absolutely fantastic and do as much as they can. If I'm honest the NHS is under so much pressure and the on call doctors just send everyone to A&E which adds so much pressure to these people. The only reason I can't comment on the doctors was I was left in agony on a chair for 7 hours with the doctors just walking by me not attempting to help. I was told I couldn't get anymore to help the pain until I seen a doctor, the morning shift change in the morning brought more doctors and I was dealt with in an hour. I didn't see any of the doctors under pressure during the whilst the nurses where constantly helping everyone.
s. b.
I had an appointment at the Pain Clinic today. The Doctor and the Nurse were excellent. They took time to discuss my issues, gave good advice and other options. The infection control was very good also. Thank you, I really appreciated the time you took with me. Thank you for your service. I know times are very challenging

In September 2021 I waa admitted twice to Ulster Hospital A & E . The first time my mother was allowed to stay till the Dr said she could go home I was getting kept in The Dr suspected a stroke. Luckily a cat scan ruled that out The staff, in both A and E and ward 3c were so hardworking. They did not seem to get any respite yer, despite no doubt jaded cos of restrictions, they were dedicated ,thorough, and courteous
Got home on Friday 10th September after a one night stay, relieved . On the Monday I went unconscious at a gym . Not the best place. Lol. Once kindly brought home I was advised when I awoke to phone GP. I was advised to get to hospital n I could not drive, was not fit. An ambulance took me there sorry long story this is summarised lol cue a stay from Monday 13th September 2021 to Sunday 10th September 2021 . A & E n ward 4c I think maybe I got it wrong staff absolutely the same aa A and E n ward 3c. Dr Fulton also was so approachable and she put me at ease despite feeling nervous for the future, she eased my concerns. The staff get terrible abuse n it's a disgrace cos they r human beings with feelings too and sacrifice enough They deserve praise n a proper raise right across the trust areas
K. M.
Had to go for a Biopsy. The nurses Doctors and staff couldn't have been more helpful. For me the Ulster hospital rates 10 out of 10.
A. G.
Outstanding staff in maternity. It’s a shame my labour didn’t go to plan but the care I received in labour and postpartum was amazing. Thank you again
d. l.
Hospital food quality is appalling, cold room no way to heat up but friendly staff
L.
Can't praise the professional care and kindness enough which was shown to me when receiving treatment in the minor injuries unit today. Sarah was amazing a true professional kind and gentle.
C. M.
A lovely doctor called Susana hall treated me last night at the Ulster hospitals a&e department and from the first contact she was absolutely amazing so polite and caring. She was very reassuring with what I was experiencing and I was in and out within an hour. Thank you Susana for treating me so well.
T. M.
When my mum had a severe stroke they did everything they could to make her comfortable and save her life. Sadly she passed away a week later ❤️
L.
5 stars is for all the staff in A&E last night who, despite being flat out, were still able to go the extra mile for so many people. I needed a wheelchair and taxi to get my elderly Mum home at midnight and Hannah came up trumps. That they all manage to stay so pleasant and helpful in the face of a constant flow of needy humanity is to their credit. Hospital itself not so high a star rating, & I understand we are in covid times, but there wasnt a single place to get food after 6.00 pm, not even a vending machine with sandwiches.
L. S.
Im visiting my brother and his family over from England and had to take my youngest daughter to get an x-ray on her ankle. From the lady at reception, the lady in triage, the doctor and lady who did the x-ray, they were all absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough for us. They could see my daughter was nervous but put her at ease straight away and made her feel very comfortable. Thankyou for making a frightening time for my daughter a less scary one
C. M.
I stayed for two nights while I was getting surgery on a fractured elbow. The doctors, surgeons, nurses and the rest of the staff could not have been more helpful as I was going in for the surgery and as I was recovering from the anaesthetic. They are professional and graceful under the pressure that comes with their line of work.
A. L.
Very good when you need help after breaking something.
G. W.
Went for my Covid vaccination this morning. The Upper Newtownards Road was busy as usual but I arrived early and parked in the car park at the front of the hospital.
Then I went to search for the Acute Services Block, as that’s where the vaccinations were taking place.
There were plenty of huge signs directing you to the vaccination place.
It’s a good walk right around to the left side of the main building and beyond the Maternity Dept., so if you aren’t so good on your feet you might want to drive right round and search for a closer parking spot.
Once there, the whole process was highly organised and you are directed through every part of the process.
Excellent service! Running like clockwork!
Well done everyone involved!!
B. M.
Was up this morning after hurting my chest, was seen promptly and all fine couldn’t thank the staff enough real professionals doing a tough job thankyou
R. C.
The NHS really is the jewel in the crown 👑
A @ E today with a trauma wound from an accident at work. I was seen super fast treated and discharged in two hours in the middle of a pandemic, amazing the doctor the nurses and staff are a true credit to our community and Dundonald hospital. 👏👏👏
Amazed
T. M.
What a fantastic hospital here with brilliant staff abd private rooms. Im up in 4c ward all private rooms with tv. After my motorcycle accident and operations. Couldn't ask for better consultants and nursing plus all the staff.
Cant thank them all enough
T. R.
Pantomime for a waiting room however I have to take my hat of to Rebbecca, Nadine and all nurses and doctors in the cardio ward 3 thankyou from the bottom of my heart which you guys realised I had one
J. M.
Attended the ulster emergency department. What fantastic staff. Treated with kindness respect and received the best care possible.
Thank you to all the staff.
S. D.
Parking is a bit of a headache, but give yourself a bit of extra time before appointment/visiting.
P. C.
Great hospital and staff are so loving and caring.
I think the designers of the new inpatient block missed a great idea of tiny gardens with benches dotted around for patients to enjoy a little fresh air, especially those in for periods of time.
C. B.
Always great care of my father from all the staff.
R. T.
Thank you for taking care of my mum Alice Mcclure room 21.
s.
I attend the Ulster every 8 weeks and I cant complain, staff are just fantastic and I hope they get a good pay rise soon cause they deserve every penny.
D. O. G.
SOME amazing staff that made me feel very welcome and all ambulance staff were amazing 5 stars
A. J.
Great staff. Could talk a bit louder when calling from the waiting area and could also use a food vending machine in a&e. Other than that great a&e
S. D.
I was at a+e yesterday afternoon and would like to thank all the nurses and doctors who took care of me even though they were run of there feet.thank you very much
r.
I have to say attending a day procedure yesterday ,form the receptionist to the nurse who left me to the door afterwards I got 5star treatment. There has been times in the past were I’ve come across some staff who really don’t want to be there , but people like these make it all the better for the patients . Really took the stress out of the situation. 🌟
W. M.
Was up at minor injuries due to a fall finger had an x-ray done didn't wait long in and out staff was friendly and helpful had to go up the next day to plastics centre for exam on the hand I got a splint in and need to go to hand treatment for exercise many thanks to all great job
L. H.
Fantastic staff but pushed to the limit, especially with the half wits who complain about how long they have sat. They then complain taking staff away from treating others. I dont think they realise there is a resus unit that deal with life threatening injuries. So really a boil or cut or sprain are not priority. Personally a life is more important than a sprained ankle or knee.
S. R.
As with all NHS staff extremely helpful, overworked and underpaid but just gettin on with it ,good on them.
F. R.
Just home from getting a day procedure in the Ulster Hospital. 5 star treatment from Miss McAllister and wonderful team, from the ward staff to the theatre staff. All wonderful thankyou.
A. D.
Recently taken into hospital ... the staff in A&E are very hard working, polite and professional. fortunately every time I’ve been in hospital they have been getting abused by patients about lack of staff, facilities and equipment, the waiting list times are terrible but it’s out of their control.I was moved to ward 5 A with again the staff being praised for the time to sort me out ,,, these people from the janitor to the consultants don’t get enough praise for their long hrs and hard
Thank you all again
J. B.
Arrived in last night with a suspected broken leg have to say the A&E staff and the Xray staff on last night where so amazing so helpful and really nice ,big thankyou to Ollie the doctor who initially examined me , and Ruth the emergency nurse and the other lovely girl who put the plastercast on ...Also sorted me with a taxi as I had no way home ...Big thankyou to the NHS 🙏
r. g.
Always fantastic throughout. A&E and other sections of the hospital. Parking is a bit crazy but they have done the best they can with the space they have. The staff are amazing.
J. M.
Was at A&E with my wife. Fast efficient and very professional. Staff are under extreme pressure but they still stay on top of things.
Keep up the great work
C. N.
Great NHS hospital easy to get to I have always found the staff helpful and caring they need are thanks and prayers
E. M.
Great service, professional and professional. Thank you

Just out of ward 9 Ulster hospital, would like to say a big thank you to all the staff in ward 9 for looking after me particularly the night sister and Carly for keeping me supplied with coffee, thanks also to Martin the young doctor who helped me with my fear of the MRI scan.
J. F.
Doctors, nurses and all ward staff were absolutely excellent, friendly, pleasant and very efficient. They all looked after my daughter and hopefully she is now on the road to recovery after her surgery.
F. E.

hi i would like to say thank you to all the staff in hospital in particular A&E and Plastics after i entered hospital with a very badly damaged forearm from a chop saw cut, i received very prompt and first class treatment all round by very caring and efficient staff , once again thank you all.
J. C.
Had an accident last year.Load of damage done to my hand, came through surgery well pleased with the results. Physio and occupational therapy great aftercare, friendly and professional staff. Couldn't fault anything about hospital or staff
I. W.
I have just recieved surgery at ward 4c and i have to say what a fantastic ward all the staff are just amazing and the care i recieved was second to none. Thank you all so much for making a very difficult time for me so relaxing. One thing i would say i wish the public would respect this woderful new hospital they have been given and use the rubbish bins provided instead of just dumping it at thier backsides. Have some respect for this wonderfull service !!
C. C.
Been in 2 parts of this hospital over the last few years. As is the case with 99% of health staff in N.I. they were amazing. Found the hospital to be very well maintained - pretty new, nice new rooms, etc. Paid parking can get very busy at visiting time. A McDonald's across the road gets well visited as well! :-)
K. W.
Was in today with my Autistic son who hurt his ankle. The staff and nurses where amazing. Thank you!
H. M.
Attended today being referred as urgent from my GP. I found all the staff from receptionist to a doctor loverly. They were clearly very busy but at no time did I feel rushed. I admit I had a bit of a wait to see the Doctor but as A&E was busy this was to be expected. J have nothing but praise for everyone I met today. Thank you
S. H.
Lovely staff doing a demanding job definitely a thumbs up to our NHS x
F. G.
My son was admitted to Craig Ward and I stayed with him for 2 days before discharge following surgery. The staff where fantastic, despite being very busy they were very caring, professional and sensitive to my son and familys needs at all times. Many thanks from the Gribbin family
P. C.
brilliant experience here, lovely caring staff, can't praise them enough, very patient, pardon the pun, can't understand why anyone would abuse the staff, who can't do enough for you.
C. H.
Everyone is so friendly, kind and helpful, when you have to be away from home.
The food is great to.
A. M.
I found the day staff kind, efficient and cheerful. The food was good with small portions, just right when you are feeling ill. However sad to say the noise at night was dreadful. Loud voices, doors slammed
Making it impossible to sleep. This can be said of any hospital so l would give it 4 stars.
J. C.
I went to A&E today 6/7/2019 feeling very poorly, with terrible stomache pains, from my arrival I was treated with extreme kindness and courtesy and professionalism by all the staff,
I would like imparticular to say Thank you to Dr Desmond John Shearer, for his patience and understanding, and professionalism nothing was too much trouble, I went away feelin so much better, I want to say a big thank you to Ulster Hospital for there extreme kindness, may God be with you all xxx
H.
I cannot commend the Accident and Emergency team highly enough. We were there on a busy Monday evening after my partner sustained a DIY injury. They took such good care of him and in the midst of all the chaos and how extremely busy they were they took the time to be kind and attentive and so good humoured. They are a total credit to the NHS.
M. H.
The staff were great, however, we turned up 40 mins before our appointment and every car park was displaying full, with massive queues. We had to leave the site and park a half a mile away in order to get to our appointment on time. What a complete shambles! Get your act together Ulster Hospital!
J. H.
A very good quility hospital with first class N.H.S.staff of all professional,s and thank all for all there great work mr john Hamilton.
T. B.
Professional and friendly staff . Biggest issue there its a car park, which its simply to small. And, btw, only CASH payment for parking? Seriously? In XXI century? If you don't have a cash you cant leave parking, because its also no cash machine around...
E. T.
all the nurses, doctors and surgeons were amazing! They done an amazing job with my injury.. Nurses were all very nice and doctors too. Big thanks!
d. r.
I went to a&e sunday 1th feb after all the horror stories i was expecting to be there all day i was actually in and out in 2hrs...receptionist & triage nurse where very pleasant and the doctor i saw was brilliant he showed me my xray and explained exactly what was wrong with my arm (calcific tendonitis) answered all my questions and im sorry i didnt get his name to thank him personally.....our nhs might have its problems but its an amazing service
C. S.
I have been attending Ulster Hospital yearly since 1992. There is no better hospital in my opinion. The staff couldn't be nicer. 👍
D. Q.
Thank you to the doctor nurses porters for all your kindness everyone of you were stretched to your limits over Xmas and new year the time I was admitted with double pneumonia I'm so petrified of hospitals but in the end you saved my life and I will be eternally in debt to everyone thank you so very much X
C. G.
I had to attend A & E on Saturday morning (15th July). I was seen quickly & attended professionally. A doctor called Barbara ordered a CT scan, but explained it could take a while (worst case scenario). However, it happened & was reported on pretty quickly. Everyone from the porter to the doctor were very friendly, professional & caring. I think everyone should remember there's always someone worse off than you & appreciate how hard the staff work. My experience was very positive.
A. S.
The doctors and nurses are the best at their jobs and take time with you.
W. R.
Excellent care in A&E. So long as you keep in mind when you attend that you are not the only one requiring medical assistance at that precise moment in time. Only critical of the meals on the ward - some very unappetising food was served, little change in menu choice over a 3 week stay, would like to see a return to hospital kitchen staff actually cooking real food rather than using contract catering.
P. G.
Went for cardiac scan and was dealt with by a person called Amanda. Totally professional in explaining and carrying out scan. Lovely personality that put me at my ease. Five star treatment in 5 star surroundings.
T. H.
I would like to thank the medical team on ward 11 and the surgeon team who looked after me last Monday and Tuesday when I got my procedure done thank you
N. M.
i was in for a few days since Saturday with vertigo, in Ward 10. can't speak more highly of all the staff in Ward 10, they are wonderful! and the food was good :)
E. R.
Brilliant Staff, don't blame the staff for the situation they are in, they have to work with what they have, to all the whingers, if you have never worked in their shoes be grateful we have them and if you don't like the Ulster Hospital simple Soloution Don't use it !!! Thank you to all NHS staff for doing a difficult job with difficult conditions last thing you need is ungrateful difficult patients/ time wasters.
If you want to apportion Blame do it to All our Lazy Greedy MLA's
K. R.
Always good for when you have broken legs and arms. Staff are hard working.
M. B.
Wow good hospital, best treatment and good nice behaviour by hospital management. Good utility services and very effective and supportive customers relation.
D. D.
Maternity ward, I was well attended. Food wasn't good (like most of the hospitals) and the most of the nurses despite to be my 3rd baby are required by the hospital rules to be what I felt in my experience, too intrusive, pointing WHAT TO DO, HOW TO DO, WHAT NOT DO, and leaving a feeling that you're not enough skilled to attend your baby. In my case, was alright because I know this is what they are expected to said and I don't doubt of myself as mum (though still was uncomfortable) but to other mums, this doesn't really help because they are the real responsibles for those babies and there's no really a manual to be mom.
P. H.
No problems, great staff, Doctors are brilliant, you are treated well and like an individual of importance. Thanks to all
L. L.
The staff are over worked and underpaid in the hospital. The latest additions to the hospital make it more modern and clean looking.
M. B.
Staff pleasant and helpful, exceptions few, however some policies, procedures and practices need to be reviewed especially when it is in written black and white. Occasionally arrogant junior doctors arise but as their stay is short-lived, they are quick to evade managerial intervention.
The current political climate is an uncertainty within the healthcare system however this hospital upholds its description and performs very well and is a good place for the foreseeable future..
p. m.
Staff are friendly and cleaners always cleaning they even clean down the lifts and if u get lost they good and giving directions
G. S.
I was taken to the Ulster A & E, I was in terrible pain but was seen very quickly and taken to a Ward. The medical staff we're fantastic and although they did not find the reason for condition they ensured that their counterparts in Scotland we're apprised of my symptoms making it easier for the Medics in Aberdeen to continue my treatment.
I want to thank all the staff at the Ulster for the fine treatment I received.
S. B.
Many thanks to the staff at A&E for the fantastic care given to our son.
Despite the heavy demand and pressure on the team there, they provided an efficient and effective service with the utmost professionalism.
Medics, nursing staff, admin and support services are all under immense pressure and should be rewarded with the acknowledgement of providing excellent care in one of the highest pressure areas of the NHS.
