The people at St Michael’s hospital are the most caring lovely people you could meet
We had our first baby there and they were 110% and made us feel so well looked after .
We will never forget how kind they were and the effort they put in to look after us
Even when they were put in an impossible position with everyone turning up at once they remained 100% professional and caring for everyone
Well done to you all you make us all very lucky to have you

BEWARE WARD 73. Although I had a traumatic birth in the delivery suite, the staff and care were exemplary. I felt so looked after. I was then transferred to ward 73. The difference was night and day. I was given very little information on anything, such as what support I could expect from the staff there, when food might arrive or facilities available such as mother and baby rooms (Only discovered these days later). After visiting hours -6pm, I felt completely alone and terrified. Having a catheter meant I was limited in my movement so I rang for help with my first dirty nappy. It took quite some time to get anyone and when someone came around they begrudgingly helped. No smiles, and their attitude was as if they shouldn’t be helping me - I later learnt that is EXACTLY what they should be doing amongst other things. Another time I rang for help with feeding, as I was having issues latching but got minimal help - not only were there huge delays on response times but I was made feel like a nuisance. This meant my baby was left under fed for 5 hours - which prompted a midwife to abruptly point out that I should be feeding every 3 hours. I cannot explain how stupid this made me feel.
I was later transferred to ward 76 and the level of care was absolutely amazing - this is where I learnt that I can and should ring for help every single time I needed it.
Ward 73 staff - sort yourselves out, you’re a disgrace

Ticks all of the boxes for me.
Staff kind and considerant, understanding and helpful.
Services available excellent.
Plus they do nice coffee.

Friendly staff help make this feel a better experience then most, expect the usual waiting times of course. Car parks are located on the first right after passing the hospital. Some limited outdoors spaces on your left, and a larger, cold-war style underground car park on your right. It's very tight, I wouldn't want to drive a large car down there. Approx £3.50 for 2hrs.

It's been 3 days since I had my tonsillectomy at St Michael's Hospital, as this was my first ever operation you can probably imagine I was very scared and incredibly nervous about it all. But I really needed not of been, all the staff were simply wonderful! They really looked after me and they were all so warm and comforting, from the kind gentleman at the front of the hospital showing you where to go, to the friendly and caring Nurses and Trainee Nurses. The Anaesthetist and Surgeon were both really patient and friendly with me and answered all my questions... I had quite a few! I really felt like I was in safe hands. The whole day ran incredibly smoothly and efficiently. I would like to say a special thanks to Nurse Debbie and Nurse Kate, for taking care of me. Thank you!! ❤️

I had been told how wonderful the staff were at St. Michael’s and I was not disappointed. Karen who conducted my test, did it so expertly I hardly realised it was happening. Her friendly, cheery manner melted away my apprehension. Lauren, Karen’s assistant, was caring and attentive. Thank-you to Karen and Lauren and all the staff whom I encountered on the way up to the correct place for being true professionals with a very human face.

We had a complication with our first birth, and the team put my partner under close monitoring straight away. Things progressed eventually to an emergency Caesarian (tier 2).
We found the staff generally excellent - in their level of care and effort to explain things at each stage.
The Caesarian itself was swift - and a lot of effort was put into reassuring my partner. It seemed perfectly professional and we are indebted to the whole team.
Due to covid, my partner was put into the recovery ward without myself. As an emergency Caesarian patient, she was in a lot of pain and fatigue - and felt perhaps she needed more communication with staff / help with the baby than the rest of the ladies in the ward who had maybe a more smooth delivery.
Overall a really positive experience in a difficult situation - so happy to have had our baby here and indebted to the team

Great Hospital with Great staff. Specially the maternity section. Both of my kids were born there. Wonderful experience. Last one while on lockdown back in January

My grandson was born here yesterday 20 /09/17 and Nanny and grandad visited. I hate hospitals and this was a revelation. I could park my car, their was nobody charging around just an air of serenity. The staff from reception to nurses and doctors were friendly and helpful even though they were all clearly working very hard and tired. Despite a long and tricky labour which ended in a caesarean my daughter and grandson had the most professional care and attention.I have nothing but praise for your wonderful hospital . Thankyou

St Michaels MLU is outstanding, the ward was like our home from home and it really made us feel calm and relaxed during labour. The room itself was the Brunel Room which was large with a birthing pool, mood lighting, fairly lights, large bed and much more which was impressive and felt more like a posh hotel/spa than a hospital. We just had our first child and the care and service we received was absolutely fantastic during such a magical moment. Our midwife Natalie was superb from start to finish.

Incredible midwives and doctors! Thoughtful, caring and without question, highly skilled and always go the extra mile. I honestly cant thank all the staff enough for bringing my daughter into the world. Amazing people & incredible care...even when dealing with a flapping emotional idiot like me!

We could not have asked for better or more efficient care from St Michael's early pregnancy unit. Staff were wonderful and we felt we were in very good hands - a big thank you to everyone on ward 78

I had a large ovarian cyst removed by an open laparotomy in March of this year. All of the staff I came into contact with - from the doctors and nurses to the cleaning staff were wonderful. There are many horror stories around regarding hospital food but I think the catering staff on ward 78 deserve a pat on the back because all of the food I was served was appetising, tasty, piping hot and nicely served. Now for the only negative I would mention........It was impossible to get any rest on the ward due to noise levels. Patients are allowed to use mobile phones and at first I thought this was a great idea but if you have (as I did) a fellow patient who shows complete disregard for the feelings of others and spends a great deal of time on her phone with the speaker facility activated you will understand how distressing this was for me. At night there was little respite from the constant noise - doors and cupboards being constantly opened and closed, people talking and not lowering their voices and nowhere to go to get away from it. I got no sleep whatsoever and sleep is very important during your recovery period. Fortunately, I recovered well and, thankfully, did not have to spend a second night in hospital.

Midwives, nurses, hospitality staff and doctors were all superb.
The hospital was clean, quiet and restful. Not too big either.
The whole birthing experience could not have been better.
Thank you all.

I want to say a massive thank you to the midwifes who help deliver my baby boy. Also the after care. You are all brilliant. Thank you xx
M. H.
Gave birth here twice. Two very different but complicated births. First time wasn't such a positive experience but the second time there seemed to be alot more support even though it was busier. I was a little disappointed about the lack of information about what happens next once I was on the ward. It all seemed very rushed.

The dedicated staff are torn between striking or working on 13 October 2014 so I will drive from Wales to England and act as a striker in support of implementation of the 1% pay review recommendation. This will allow one worker to continue their vital duty.

Great and professional staff and service.

Maternity hospital. My son was born here so I obviously have a bit of a soft spot for it. Wonderful midwives, good facilities. It's only downside is that it is on the top of one of the largest and steepest hillls in Bristol.

The outreach nurses are condescending and frustrating to those with a newborn. They might as well be social workers.
