Reviews of The Women's Centre
C. P.
I am no stranger to the NHS and understand on a professional and personal level the extent to which being short staffed, bed pressures and skill mixtures has on patient care and patient experience, . However I received top care by the midwives in Gloucester hospital. I am a nurse myself so I questioned everything and due to finding labor traumatic and mixed with medication I was on, plus sleepless nights, I was extremely anxious. However instead of being met with hostility and non empathetic People growing increasingly more frustrated with my moans and repetitive questions, I was met by a team of kind, compassionate humans who made me feel listened to and valued. I haven't experienced this level of kindness from healthcare professionals before. The amount of patience and understanding and true insight was unreal and its made me consider changing going specialties if I'm honest. Definitely made me think positively about my whole experience and I will look back on it with fond memories rather than traumatic one, all because of how I was treated purely by the front line staff in Gloucester triage, maternity ward and delivery suite.

The nurses and the ladies doing the scans are exceptional, very compassionate and kind, however the experience i had today was very frustrating. I had a scan planned for 10 o clock, got there at 10 , the checkin machine was not working, there was noone at the reception, the window closed, dark, so no indication there is anyone at the reception at all, a few other ladies were wondering around as confused as i was. I went into the scan waiting room assuming that the procedure on a Saturday is to wait in the waiting room and someone will call for you when its your turn. I waited for 25 minutes, without anyone asking me anything. In the end i was told my scan will not take place because i did not check in. I almost got a parking fine due to the delay. I also suffer with ME and live outside Gloucester, and its hard for me to travel back and forth. I think it would be a good idea for a notification specifying that the receptionist is there during week ends also and if we ring the bell she will come. Also, the members of staff calling our name in the waiting room like every other department does. Its a good system and it avoids these frustrating situations.

Very good all round care at Gloucester women's center! The convenience of have the birth unit, labor ward and maternity ward all in one section (just up one floor in the lift) is excellent. Midwives we're expert in thier care as well as loving in the way they worked.
