Reviews of Royal Brompton Hospital

Fantastic staff, both caring and knowleable. Always exceeding expectations. Deserves recognition as the best hospital for lung conditions in UK. Having been a patient since 2015, in my experience, it is without any doubt, the most effective and efficient care centre of its kind. Thank you RBH.

The treatment I received here was life saving. Dr Peter George and the ILD team are amazing, they are very attentive and listen to all your questions and concerns and if you get ill outside of an appointment they are more than willing to see you almost straight away. The other staff including nurses and the pharmacists are all so lovely and very professional. I am lucky to be looked after by them all.

A huge thank you to Dr Kosta Stoenchev and his colleagues for their professional approach, excellent patient care and amazing support during my clinic visits. I was happy to attend the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Department at Royal Brompton & Harefield and to meet these wonderful people.
I wish you prosperity and again thank you very much for your help!

I can't say enough about the care and professionalism of the team that took care of me at the Royal Brompton and I could never thank them enough for giving my children their Dad for many more years to come.

We got transferred to this hospital PICU November 2020. If you want world class expertise doctors and nurses, this is where you need to be. Every single person responsible for the care we received was incredible, knowledgeable, professional, kind, patient and kept me informed every step of the way. What a fantastic job they do. Thank you all so very much.

What looks like a side door entrance with ramp as main doors were locked. Very helpful voluntary 'guides'. Not that helpful to pensioners in the scanning D

My 6 year old had an ASD catheter procedure done by
dr. Carles Bautista. I can not thank enough to this man and his whole team. Everything was planned and runned so so smoothly!
Such amazing doctors and surgeons. Thank you for everything you do for us.
Dr. Bautista thank you for being my child’s angel! 🙏

Excellent team of nurses and doctors. I had a one day admission to have a cardiac catheterization and stayed on Paul Wood Ward. Everything was very well organised and procedures pre-admission were really making sure everyone is safe, healthy and Covid free. Obviously, I was very nervous when I arrived to have the procedure done and I had lots of doubts and questions. However, the ward nurses were so kind and caring and the doctor and the rest of his team were so friendly and comforting, I quickly started to feel more relaxed.
The team is very international and that's what I really liked. I read someone's review that this meant they spoke broken English. This is laughable as everyone speaks perfect English. They answered all my questions before the procedure and were very patient. I was quickly seen post procedure too and well updated on the results of it and a possible further treatment. I was even asked to stay slightly longer just to make sure my heart is all fine after the catheterization, as it was beating a bit funny during the procedure. I left at the end of the day really happy about the whole experience (despite hearing sad news about my health not being as good as I would wish it to be) . I wish everyone the same positive stay and experience.

There is absolutely no way to thank The Royal Brompton Hospital enough for the 2 years of professional, friendly and complete brilliant care. Before during & after care , ALL important . I received perfect care 2013-2014. Three ablations then and fixed on the third , now 100% fixed - fabulous , and wonderful after care then and since. Thank you Dr.Tom.. Dr.Julian.. Dr Shouvik.. Sandy.. York Ward ( View from West ) etc etc. Thank you , do jeh, daw-dyeh , Gracias Merci , ah-ree-gah'-toh, Danke sehr, Grazie. - appreciated Graham :-)

This review is for the staff and overall experience in this hospital. First of all I cannot thank you enough for the care my mother has received. She would like to thank especially Mr. Quattro and his team and every doctor and nurse that looked after her during her stay. The care she received was outstanding and she cannot praise enough the attention to patients especially during these difficult times due to covid-19.
Once again from the bottom of my heart I thank you for the outstanding care she has received.

I have been a patient for around 15 years and have nothing but praise for the doctors especially Professor Wilson, Professor Durham and their teams, as well all the nurses and staff on Victoria Ward, that have looked after me over the years when I have been an inpatient many, many times! Thank you so much for everything that you do!

My 12 year old son had cardiac arrest at school he was brought to Brompton hospital and received outstanding care .
I found all care and cleanliness first rate.
My son had heart operation to correct a secondary electrical pathway.
The kindness and patience given is above standards expected.
I found that watching nurse's ,doctors and other staff members , gave me a sense of confidence in how well their worked along side one another. Great team work x

This review is for the pediatric side, my son is under Dr Slavic, (now 13 years from days old) we couldn't have been blessed more, by having him as our sons consultant. His an amazing Dr, well spoken, and very kind in his approach. Hats off to Dr Slavic to all the babies, toddler and teenages lives his saved and improved their quality of living.
The staff are amazing on Rose ward 🙏

Outstanding expertise, skill and care delivered with humanity and charm, consistently. As usual the NHS deliver a great service, although they are underpaid and underfunded. All through COVID the NHS have yet again delivered in often arduous and dangerous conditions. Thanks to all

My 3 years old son had sleeping study at this hospital on Monday 12/02/2018. It was my first visit. We received an excellent care by doctors and nurses. Nurse's particaly were amazing and they have done everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you so much for your amazing work. Well done!

Royal Brompton has a special place in my heart(literally). I am a 42 year young man that has had 4 open heart surgeries, first was at the age of 2. I spent my 3rd birthday at the Royal Brompton and I can still remember to this day. The staff made it such a special occasion I will never forget.
I will probably have to have surgery for the rest of my life due to my condition.
Life has been a struggle to say the least, physically & Psychologically...but I’m still here. At this moment in time I am the fittest/healthiest I’ve ever been. I’ve climbed four of the highest mountains in Britain, of which I would never of imagined...all thanks to the hard and dedicated work the Royal Brompton give.
To be able to extend another humans life is a gift in itself, of which I will be forever grateful for! ❤️

I have been going to the Brompton for 4years now and I have nothing but respect and admiration for all the people who work there. I am very lucky that I get Hospital transport to and from my appointments. The transport driver Richard goes the "extra mile" with every patient and like all the transport department....they deserve a medal. Not this week. Rather rude and evasive as to how long I have to wait to get home. Better luck next time I guess....😳Richard came to my rescue again 😁
K. K.
Very good hospital. My husband was admitted in icu in this hospital. Very good staff and doctors. They show me my husband everyday on vedio call and ask me every time for my help.
V. A.
I have been admitted twice for surgery at RBH and each time their service is amazing. Both outpatients and inpatient care delivery are of high standards, the staff and consultants were easy to talk to and responsive to my queries and concerns. Now that my heart is fixed, I might take on the joke of my lovely surgeon, Dr. Michael Rigby, to join the London marathon.🤞🏻Thank you so much to all the staff of Royal Brompton Hospital!
M. A.
The care and expertise that I received at this hospital was superb. I had 2 operations for stents to be fitted and the surgeon and his cardiac team were excellent. The hospital is easy to get to (only minutes away from South Kensington tube station) and the place itself is clean and well kept with free strong wi-fi. I only took off one star because they took 7 hours to discharge me on a Saturday as they only has one doctor doing the rounds. My discharge notes were only one sheet of A4 so it is not like I was waiting for my own version of War & Peace but clinically speaking they were excellent.
S. T.
This hospital is 1st class. Amazing receptionists, porters, transport shuttle driver and all the clinical staff. What lovely, kind and caring people.thank you
J. K.
In the past 2 and a half years I have been a patient of the Thoracic Team under Mr Jordan at this hospital. I was rushed in with type 1 respiratory failure due to massive bleed on my lung. Not only did they save my life, they have kept on till they could find out why this was happening. I have had 3 stays on Alex Ward and the treatment I have received by everyone has been 1st class and hopefully I am now on the mend after having 2 stents put in my arteries from my aorta leading into my lung. I cannot praise this hospital, Mr Jordan, and his team highly enough , they are the absolute best there is. Everything is great even the food, which is fresh, wholesome and plentiful. Thank you all for the care, kindness and treatment I have received .

I have experienced RBH since 1994 first with my wife and then as a patient. The medical care is outstanding in every way, the staff caring and professional and the ambience is friendly and reassuring. Sir Reginald Wilson Ward is the best place in the world to be if you are ill. Please fight to keep this wonderful institution alive for the future, it is irreplaceable,
J. R.
Absolutely amazing surgeons / staff here. Two family members have had extremely difficult/complex (CHD) heart surgery (VSD among other things) carried out here under the NHS and I can tell you we cannot have asked for anymore from a specialist heart unit. - One of the best heart hospitals in the world I am sure.
Saved two lives in my family.
Thank you all so so much!
P. A.
despite the odd biased negative review, this hospital is 5 star. I've been a rbh user for 40 years, they are proactive and recently found a problem on a scan, called me in and Diagnosed an aortic disection which is rare and potentially life threatening. the care and staff are second to none.
D. O.
There is no way to thank The Royal Brompton Hospital enough for the years of professional, friendly and entire care. I have received perfect care for the last eleven years. Two major heart operations and wonderful after care then and since.
M. E. F.
My Daughter had two major operations at the hospital, the nurses are some of the best in the world and I have traveled, the expertise of the surgeons and consultants is world class. you are in good hands at this hospital
L. R.
Radiographer George and ?nurse Zul who put in canula, were exceptional at supporting my special needs child have an MRI. It wouldn't have happened, had they not been so great. Big thanks.
C. B.
Initiatially went there unconcious in an ambulance! However, my follow up appointment 18 months later was first class. Two consultants. Two senior nurses and three other specialists in their particular field, all to see me.The follow up 'home'care is also first class and any problems only a phone call or email away.Best to travel by public transport.Car Parking can be problematic.
R. G.
My 6 week old baby was here for a sleep test study. They was fantastic for him and myself and my husband. Very friendly and organised.
J. A.
Went for a Catheter Ablation privately, staying in the Reginald Wilson ward. The surgeon was very good, but the nurses on this ward were far from empathetic. I had to spend 3 days in a ward at St George's Hospital Tooting following a complication from the above procedure , and the staff and nurses in St George's were in a completely different league. (they resparked my love of the NHS) I'm not sure if the usual type of patients that frequent the private wing had anything to do with the attitude of the staff on the ward, but I personally laugh and joke with everyone that I can, from cleaners to consultants. I would be reluctant to go back. Give me the private world of Harley Street, or St George's NHS anytime.
F. S.
I was admitted to Victoria Ward for a 10 day admission as my local hospital weren't helping enough, I was getting a chest infection at least once a month. Proffeser wilson is an amazing doctor, friendly, down to earth and explains my condition (bronchectasis) properly. Physio were fantastic aswell. Would recommend anyone with a lung condition here
J. S.
The only place to go if you've got a complex congenital heart or lung disease. They're prepared to push the envelope and with astonishingly low mortality rates [given the complexity of some of the cases they treat]. In my experience I've found them almost useless for your mental health when that fails you too, though. They get 5 stars for actually having superb medics when lives are on the line and for getting people out of the jaws of death (I'd be dead without them!). Could do way better in the holistic approach though. But then, it IS a specialist centre... But, NO excuse!
A. S.
Absolutely faultless. From the Pals team to the top surgeons, such professional, dedicated and caring staff. I owe my life to these people. Thank you.
N. W.
My wife had an appointment yesterday, she was very happy with the experience.
She said despite being very busy, all staff were courteous and attentive.
Good job👍
R. D.

Coudnt ask for better hospital. My mum is there often and unlike our local hospital I can relax knowing she is ecieving first class care and treatment.
Thank you Drs nd staff for you"re great work
J. S.
Professional approach with knowledgeable medical staff. The Pulmonaryrehab course over two months is first class with a dedicated and enlightened team.
K. K.
Have been going since 2014, best service ever, however this week did experience a rude register, this does not impact on the hospital as a whole. Perhaps he was over worked.
A. T.
My husband had major heart operation in May but only lived nine days the care was second to none My husband had dementia on coming he was transferred from our local hospital to the royal brompton I received a phone call from my husband to say he was admitted and by the time I got to the hospital he was a little distressed they kept saying he was a very very sick man three days later they gave him papers to sign for the operation I didn’t see these my husband said he didn’t know what he had signed it was very distressing for us both if he was so ill why did they go ahead with this operation I so wish he hadn’t and had spent his last days at home also I have learnt that this is also a teaching hospital
E. B.
First time as an inpatient for my son this week but the staff have all been really lovely, he's actually enjoyed the food which is extremely rare for him and they Drs and play staff along with the nurses have made it as pleasant a stay for him as is possible... so my only whinge is the extremely small WHSmiths that's here on site was closed all day today so couldn't get him any treats for being a such a superstar ⭐
S. M. M.

We have been advised to perform TAVI operation in royal Brampton hospital for my 83 years mother in law and all went well for surgery but she had a terrible complication postoperative in form of massive cerebral stroke and that’s it was mentioned as 3% complications rate ,, I can’t blame the hospital or myself or the cardiologist but all what I can say to anyone doing Suergery is to think twice before going into such a terrible experience, for doctors it’s complication but for patient it’s his life ,,,,sad story and terrible experience
c. a.
