Had a beyond excellent consultation today from the Rheumatologist. This is the first time in over twenty years that I felt understood and cared for. Patient and kind and listened to what I needed to say. Manchester Royal should be proud of their doctors nurses and all staff. A truly first class hospital with a caring and pleasant attitude from everyone who helped me from the moment I arrived at the hospital. Thank you so much.

Splendid service from the team at A&E. I was attended to very swiftly and was never left unattended at any point. The staff have been absolutely warm towards me and my doctors were very gentle during my surgical procedure!

Hi, I have just come out of MRI Endoscopy department after having 2 procedures. I would like to thank all the staff from when I arrived at the reception to the two guys and lady who carried out the procedure and the ladies who looked after me in recovery and the chap who made me a cup of tea. Thank you all for reassuring me and making me feel comfortable.
Thanks again Will

Had an A&E incident last Saturday, super fast 999 answer and pick up in the ambulance. Paramedics were super, very considerate and calm. Then I was placed in the amber zone of the A&E, and I was there for 5 hours (5 AM- 10 AM), but again staff were very nice, and checked in on me as frequently as possible which I appreciate considering the hectic circumstances.
They offered and checked everything for me treatment wise, and I got offered tea and some food twice which really helped in my moment of weakness. Also got given a good 'bed' in the meantime. Seriously grateful for the hospital and staff that day.
Only objection is the price of the medicine that I had to pay for - for some antibiotics and a throat numbing spray, 18 pounds is a bit steep, and I wasn't given a price exemption even as a full-time university student.

Stayed in fo 11 days ward I was on was as clean as you can physically get. Staff were brilliant from housekeeping up to surgeons and consultants. First hospital ward I've know to be patient focused and couldn't do enough for the patients

This is a review for the walk-in centre at the MRI. Arrived in pain, booked in and given an appointment (was given the option to wait, but chose to book a slot for later in the day). Came back, seen earlier than my slot and given my test results within thirty minutes. Proscription in hand I toddled off to the nearest pharmacy and now am pain free, and while not a joyous bundle of delight, I am certainly less grumpy than I have been the last couple of weeks.

Dr Sheen was my surgeon for my laparoscopic hernia repair.
On the day of my operation, I was concerned that I’d be waiting a long time for the surgery to get started. The staff were attentive and I was not waiting long. Both pre and post surgery I had numerous check ups from everyone making sure I was okay.
The surgery went very well; I was up and about in a few days. I have very minimal scarring and am in no pain compared to how I was pre surgery. I get the odd twing here and there but that is to be expected.
Dr Sheen did a great job, and made me feel very reassured on the day (given like most people I was a bit anxious). A quick Google search of his name would help you feel at ease too (he has a technique named after him!).
I was waiting a long time for this surgery due to the covid situation (over 18 months). The NHS get a lot of grief sometimes (and sometimes deservedly so) but my experience was faultless; everything that was in the control of the hospital was done excellently. I could’ve gone to a private hospital through work insurance, but given the accolades that Dr Sheen has achieved over his career in this field, I wanted him to be the one to complete the repair. I can happily say that I made the right decision.

I had my kidney transplant on the 1.11.21 and went home on the 8.11.21.
During my stay in Manchester Royal Infirmary on ward 36 the staff where wonderful with me and i meet some lovely patients. The only thing what wasn’t nice was the food they provided for the patients. It was disgusting. The only thing what was fresh was the jacket potatoes. The rest a part from the dried short dated sandwiches was frozen meals which renal patients should not have and the patients were asking their families to bring in food for them because they couldn’t eat the food provided by the hospital. Please start providing fresh food for patients staying in your hospital.
J. K.
I've been here 3wks now and have no complaints whatsoever. Everyone has been respectful. When I came in here I was expecting horrible food which just wasn't the case. I started with jacket potato but I realised there's only so many times you can have
these so I now have had a variety of dishes and I haven't been disappointed. The staff from the doctors down to the tea people are all polite and friendly.
Everyone has a role to play in looking after their patients even on icu where they change ppe many times a day and usually just have one patient to look after. I can't praise the MRI enough even the ambulance men and women try to keep you amused which helped keep my stress levels down. So thank you to our wonderful NHS ❤❤❤

Over all a good experience at the eye hospital, a bit of a wait but it is a busy place, they are doing there very best to help all.

It's got wonderful nurses doctors sercurty as well never have a problem since my time going there. Beautiful staff members porter's are as good they spend time talking to you during your visit to X ray or we're ever they transferred you to wounderful extremely proud. The only matter I say is with some issues I won't complain about it's not me. But every time they treat me is the way you have have to give back the same beautiful treatment they give you that's respect.you get bad rude nasty with them then you're not getting treatment . So stop think listen and you can have that beautiful time as it's job at the end of it so put yaselfs in there shoes how would it make you feel if they came to your works and abuse you so it's not nice to show rudeness to the emergency department let alone ambulance services again respect job is too keep us alive and safe like police n fire brigade.
P. S.
This is central hospital with all specialist centre under one roof. This place is kept extremely clean and they provide face mask at each entrance of the building. There is canteen in the building. Breakfast and Lunch is served and of course with a price tag. The patrons here are mainly patients, who has appointments to attend their specialist clinics and meet with their consultants. This is not a place for anyone would want to visit except seeing their doctors and their loved ones and friends who are admitted at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.
d. D.
The kidney wards really look after me when I have a problems or at home on my machine called Doris she keeps me alive. My home team are the best if I have a problem they are always there for me thank you all so much xxxx.
K. M.
Great hospital with amazing staff who treat you as a family member and not a number, I can't fault the staff but the awful catering firm are a joke.
Food is basic, tasteless and always incorrect when ordered and drinks service is terrible. We are supposed to keep our fluid intake high but we get a service with breakfast and if lucky at nights.
No wonder the recovery period is so long.
J. J.
Empathetic, friendly, professional care in both A&E and the SAU.
To all the staff who helped me, thank you so much for everything!
J. A.
My auntie was here due to her critical condition. The staff were amazing. The family are very grateful for all the hospitality and professionalism. It's institutions like this that make me proud of being British.
A. M.
Came to the severe injury clinic to get my ankle checked after I fell badly on it.
Stephen in the A&E reception was very helpful and I was seen too within 5mins.
All staff where brilliant and I was in and out within 1 hour.
Given the current circumstances and being that efficient say a lot.
Great service!
S. S.
Could not fault staff and treatment they were all very kind and caring
J. U.
I was in there like a month ago for a few days with a kidney infection, went well but upon leaving I asked a security at the door to the MRI section what road it was and he was rude, nasty and just hostile for absolutely no good reason! Absolutely disgusting sack of scum!
P. D.
Recently had to be admitted to this hospital for surgery. Without a doubt it was the best I've ever been in. The Staff were out of this world. The treatment second to none. Well done and thank you.
m. d. h.
This Hospital saved my life in January. I was admitted with a massive chest infection, collapsed left lung and pneumonia. All the staff on ward AM1, thank you for my life !
At the MRI again on Sunday , all the staff were so kind and helpful. The reception staff very kind, and never stopped working. Thank you all.
A. S.
Hart department is overwhelmed with the lack of staff & Doctors especially through the night time. But I have to say that they treated me great in the 3 months I was there. If the government would plug the hole in NHS's well needed hospitals which we the people pay with tax n national insurance payments this problem would be fixed.
S.
I don’t normally write reviews but felt compelled to do so in this case. Normally use private health care with which I’m very happy but have to say the treatment I received here at the MRI was outstanding and I could not fault it. From appointment reminders for the procedure date through to the reception staff that l encountered all the way through to the doctors, nurses and auxiliary staff. All very professional, caring and friendly. Hospital takes cross infection control very seriously too judging by the number of times I encountered staff wiping things down etc and other patient reminder notices etc. Thank you all for the exceptional level of service and comfortable overnight stay.
H. B.
Will never understand negative reviews for FREE treatment. Be thankful for the NHS. I’ve spent most of the last 18 months in hospital for myself and the last 7 years in and out with my diabetic daughter, the staff are always on point, the wait is irrelevant, you get seen in order of emergency not arrival time. The hospital has saved my life more than once and I will forever be grateful!
A. R.
My daughter has been in here for 5 days with chronic appendicitis, resulting eventually in an operation to remove her appendix. The staff were stretched but brilliant the hospital was clean. Very very impressed. Our NHS is a jewel we need to fight to save
B. B.
Got seen today in the pop up tent and did not wait to long. I would think that a tea caddy could pop round with beverages and cakes though, that would be a nice incentive for sitting in a dank tent. Nice staff all the same
J. B.
Father had heart attack was taken to the MRI acute cardiac centre.
Very friendly, helpful staff whom always kepted us all informed and up to date with what was going on.
To all the staff a very very big thank you .
E. F.
Was induced here three times within the space of a month.
99% of the staff appeared caring and tried their best to help the patients. Obviously the NHS is understaffed but that is not this faculty's fault.
They ran detailed tests to make sure I was okay and the waiting time was extremely good in comparison to what my expectations were set for.
V. D.
I have to attend the hospital every few months, the staff are very friendly and helpful they will always help you the consultant is very professional and friendly I've known him for around ten years. The hospital is always clean and tidy when I've had to stay in the staff are always there for you, the food is ok better than you think the visiting times are very good to, overall its a lovely hospital with very friendly and helpful people. It's wheelchair accessible to.
N. C.
The most wonderful, caring and considerate staff - excellent care every single day. These guys are the very best medical people ive ever dealt with
H. C.
I was rushed by ambulance from Marple after falling down the stairs with suspected injuries to my back. Paramedics, Ambulance crew and hospital staff were amazing. I could have been paralysed without the care of everyone involved. I was really frightened and tried not to cry I was eventually sent home after ct scans which showed two broken bones in my back. Can't praise them highly enough
B. G.
I have been a transplant patient under the care of the Renal Unit in this hospital since 1987 and the care at the Renal Unit is excellent. They are very conscientious and thorough in their care, I would have given this hospital five stars but the level of care in general wards is not up to such a high standard. Last time I was in, one of the nurses gave me a medication that belonged to a patient that no longer was there (but his medication had been left in the locker that was used for mine); when I queried this and said that I was getting palpitations (I suspect it was some kind of adrenaline based medication), a "psychiatric consultant" woke me up at 3 am in the morning and basically said that I had imagined it and it was probably the worry of being in the hospital.
M. G.
Wonderful, friendly nurses on the A&E floor. Constantly checking in on my Grandmother. However some of the doctors' sensitivity leaves a lot to be desired. My Granddad who walks on crutches was told by a female doctor to get out of the room whilst she talked to my Grandma alone. Later on, when we got into a Ward, the same female doctor came and told us all to wait outside (my granddad included) to repeat what a previous doctor had just said, when we were all in the room.
Sophie should be ashamed of herself.
Y. A.
My son from Hull was on a stag night in manchester and was drugged and taken to various cash machines.
Eventually he was taken to this hospital - and I was impressed with the warmth and consideration of the medical team.
Every effort was given to give me a detailed account of his treatment.
Thanks to them - my son was able to come home the next day.
No words can say how much we appreciate the rapid response of the well trained people at this hospital.
Thank you all so much.
K. W.
Caring staff looked after my dad with care and dignity until his last days with us. They have a very hard job. Thank you.

I went to MRI on Monday evening as my best friend is in critical icu and it was the last time I would ever see him, I felt like I was going into panic as I walked in as I have never been on a ward like that before but the nurses on that ward need a medal that's all I can say. Not only for the job that they do but for the way that they put you at ease and care for you as well as the person who you have come to see. Without them nurses I wouldn't have said a proper goodbye to my friend as they calmed me down and helped me so much, my friends nurse was called molly and I can't remember the other girls name but they was amazing and I thank you both from the bottom of my heart, thankyou for looking after my friend til the end
s. m.
Great care, lovely staff.
D. G.
Had a heart scan today. I was seen to by barbara ( what a lovely person ) she explained step by step what the procedure was and really put me at ease. THANK YOU BARBARA
R. M.
Went for my second jab - very efficient staff and very good deaf awareness - partly because two of the staff members were hearing impaired themselves.
B. T.
Decent staff in A&E that always try their hardest, they have a walk in centre for minor stuff by the side too. Got attacked and then got stitched up here. Nurse and doctors were great.
P. L.
My 88 year old mother was admitted on 8th January with what we found out to be pneumonia due to the severity of her illness her stay lasted 2 and a half weeks .The hospital is a very different place from her last visit . She was treated in pristine surroundings , promptly , efficiently and above all with kindness and dignity. Every single person either she ,or we as relatives ,came into contact with, was pleasant and helpful and we were kept informed throughout her stay. In a time of constant criticism of our NHS, the quality , standard , and consistency of care my mother received at MRI has been outstanding.
k. h.
Just got back from A&E . The treatment, care, compassion, patience and attitude of every single person we met was superb ! I feel I need to name and fame tonight's wonderful team , just in case any feedback can be given so a Huge Thank You to Maria in RAU, Nurse Catherine, HCA Ash, A&E doctors Alex and Lucie, Surgical Doctor Abdul and ED Chris who treated my husband superbly well, pulling out all the stops for his comfort and peace of mind which made me comfortable too. We were through in three hours including X Rays, treatment, procedure and oodles of tlc. Amazing People who went above and beyond . Thank You
M. A.
I have been a patient here for the last 20 years and they have looked after me all the way. I cannot fault them on anything.
J. C.
I was referred to the Maxillofacial department as I had a submandibular abscess. From going to casualty, I had been seen by a doctor, x-rayed and had bloods taken within an hour and a half. I had a wait of about another hour for a bed, which was found for me on the vascular ward. This is a more modern part of the hospital, and very nicely equipped. The following morning I was sent for surgery. And spent another 2 nights on the ward.
Throughout my stay I was very well informed about what was happening and treated well by all the staff. The surgery went well and the Maxillofacial team checked up on me daily.
Outside of medical care, the catering staff provided nice meals, the roast beef dinner is good and I also recommend the shepherds pie. Hot drinks were also provided by the cheery staff. The ward was also spotlessly clean and kept that way during my stay.
On a separate note all the staff were very busy, and often they had to prioritise patients needs. This isn't the fault of the staff or even the hospital; it's symptomatic of an organisation that is underfunded and overstretched. This is political and if you have experience busy staff then perhaps it should influence how you vote.
However, it is a tribute to the professionalism of the staff at the hospital that they maintain the levels of care that they do.
So to summarise I arrived ill, and left feeling better. And I didn't have to worry about the cost of treatment. The NHS is still one of the wonders of the UK
J. L.
I have a pace maker & I have been coming to this hospital for around 20 years. Every member of staff, nurses, doctors, clinic staff etc. & importantly, the people behind the scenes ( that are just as vital to running this hospital) have given me the best care possible. I cannot thank them enough. I have recommended this hospital to family & friends who have also been happy with the care they received.
D. H.
Fantastic hospital staff on intensive care was great after 2 months in care I haven’t one fault
They need more credit than they get fantastic,,
A. R.

I was been admitted this hospital from 28 sep2013
Till 20 October 2013 at accident and emergency ward. It was the kindest hospital ever and there is not enough words to describe how great it is !!! My personal experience in these days in accident and emergency ward was great and I would describe all the staff as Angels. God bless them all. Thx very much.
D. E.
Incredible place with incredible people.
I was rushed in by ambulance whilst having a heart attack. Everyone was incredibly supportive and helpful from the ambulance personnel to all the nurses and everyone in between, basically saving my life.
p. c.
I have had no complaints for my regular appointments. One problematic experience with A&E but I will let them off as we were seen and sorted in the end. Underfunding, shortage of staff, I cannot blame them.
SAVE THE NHS!
M. M.
This is a fantastic hospital and everyone who is seen here should feel privileged that we can have such a high tech service for free.
If anyone has a problem with the NHS should think twice about complaining and if they don't like Englands free service should then go private!
J. S.
My son Daniel Shaw was admitted via A & E last Friday night 20th October at approx 11-30pm with injuries due to cycle crash at the Velodrome taking part in a race. The service we received was excellent, the A & E was packed with various complaints most not serious or A & E candidates. We booked in and within 15 mins was called to Triage for assessment and moved to Resus where they found he had a broken collar bone and a collapsed lung he was admitted and kept in until Sunday morning and the treatment he received was exemplary.
Many thanks for doing a super job under such awful conditions.
J. S.
Honestly the 8 hours I got spent being thrown around A+E, Radiology and SAU weren't great but once I received a bed in the Manchester Vascular Center I couldn't of being more welcomed, both the staff and the patients were so nice and talkative, I only spent 13 hours in that department but was one of the nicest departments in a hospital I have ever been in. The actual diagnosis (which was coming from a different department) took ages and the waiting around for it was boring but the nurses and staff who accommodated my waiting were the best, a real service to our NHS
R. W.
My husband was admitted on the 23rd December by emergency ambulance with a heart attack. I found the staff friendly, professional and helpful. Our experience was excellent and I would like to express my gratitude to you all.

Evening appointment for ultrasound scan in x-ray. Seen on time, all staff very helpful. Great service, thank you.
j.
Good experience, 3rd child born here, midwifes nurses couldn't do enough. Had to sell 1 of my kidneys to pay for the extortionate parking, I was so shocked I fell over, bumped my head on the ticket machine and ruptured my spleen, resulting in me having to be admitted back to a ward and inadvertently paying triple for another parking ticket!! This country!!!
J. J.
Cardiology department is a credit to the hospital all staff very caring and professional give it 6 stars
W. W.

I went here via A and E and needed surgery. All of the care I received was excellent. It is a teaching hospital so I did have to serve as a prop for teaching a few students but it was not even remotely an issue.
