I knew before I was pregnant that I wanted to do hypnobirthing, and Sam's approach is scientific which was perfect for me and my partner (who was dubious before the class started!). She provided so many take aways and support after the class and in the lead up to labour. My labour and birth didnt go to 'plan', but all of the techniques we were given really helped us both to stay calm and ask the right questions about what was happening and why they wanted to intervene- I felt informed and in control because of this. Both me and my partner practised the breathing techniques and massages, and this definitely helped us to utliise them well during labour (all of the midwives commented on how amazing my breathing was throughout!). Other suggestions like making playlists full of your favourite songs really helped to keep me calm and feel more comfortable throughout. Sam is also very clear about hypnobirthing not being a replacement for needing pain relief; I really liked this because I didn't feel bad for using it when I felt i needed to (I feel like people think if you've done hypnobirthing but still need drugs then you have failed which is absolutely not true!). We both loved the course, it provided us with so many techniques to keep calm, happy and anxiety free throughout my labour- I would 100% recommend Sam!

Sam is a wonderful hypnobirthing teacher who uses a scientific and realistic approach. She is so kind and calming and supported our journey every step of the way up to the birth of our baby and beyond. The relaxation techniques we learnt as a couple are so useful and we continue to use them for dealing with the craziness of new life with a newborn! I would highly recommend :)

My husband and I are due to have our first baby in a couple of weeks and have recently completed Sam's group hypnobirthing course. I'm pleased to share that we couldn't have enjoyed it more! Sam's an excellent teacher, super knowledgeable and delivers all the information in a clear and interesting way. If you are looking for a very knowledgeable hypnobirthing teacher then look no further! Sam came to our home and she has taught us so much. We feel like we have all the necessary information and techniques required to have a calm birth. Sam made us feel very relaxed and supported throughout her course. I am so glad I attended Sam's hypnobirthing course. As I was expecting my first child, I was not knowledgeable on anything around the topic of giving birth. At first I was interested in attending Sam's group course, but as Covid hit and the group sessions were stopped, we went on to attend her one to one sessions via zoom. I absolutely loved them, as I felt we probably got much more out of them. I am quite a shy person and I felt more comfortable in a one to one setting asking questions etc.. Attending the sessions online, not in person, made absolutely no difference. Sam is very good at making you feel comfortable and after a few minutes you forget there is a screen between you. And she also involved my partner a lot (boys can be very reluctant talking about birth) which meant he now knows what happens to the body during birth and was aware of what I needed on the day being a great support. Sam's knowledge is fantastic and, although we thought hypnobirthing could sound quite hippy, it is absolutely not and she actually makes sure to give plenty of science based facts and explains really well how the body works during birth making all so very clear and putting you at ease. As I found out during the course and mostly during the birth, hypnobirthing is not just about breathing, but it is about being in control throughout and making your choices heard so you can experience the best possible birth on the day. And so it was! As my labour progressed so quickly I had no time to actually get into a deep breathing rythm using the techniques learnt, but I was in control and aware of everything that was happening and kept calm at all times, including during the ambulance trip which was necessary if I wanted to get to hospital in time. What Sam also helped with was drawing the birthing plan, which I did give to the midwife on the day and they were so accommodating with everything and respectful of my choices. I can say I had a great birth experience and I can say that hypnobirthing definitely played a huge part in being confident in my body and not scared, as our body knows exactly what to do. I would 100% recommend Sam’s support. Nothing about my birth went the way I wanted it to but with all the techniques and support Sam gave us, I stayed calm and thoroughly enjoyed the lead up to and during labour! The midwives in the hospital LOVED all my hypnobirthing ideas eg affirmations on the walls and listening to my 90’s remix to keep me moving! They were so supportive of the techniques Sam taught and encouraged us to put in place. Some people may think that hypnobirthing is just to be ‘drug free’ however that’s not what I used it for - I wanted to be ‘anxiety free’ as much as possible! I feel that meeting Sam and others in my group, with my husband, allowed us to prepare for birth to it’s fullest, which was such a lovely lead up to having our little boy. I will be honest, which I was in the class at the time - my husband was very dubious about hypnobirthing, however, during the throws of a long induced labour, he used the techniques brilliantly which helped me so much! And kept him calm and enjoying the experience! Hypnobirthing is the one thing I would recommend to ALL pregnant women to empower them to have control over their own pregnancy and labour! And Sam was just the BEST!

My husband and I did Sam's hypnobirthing course before the birth of our daughter. Sam is patient, understanding and professional. Her sessions were well planned and informative and we learnt so many helpful things. I had a planned section due to a baby beating breeched and I felt supported in my choices. I attended Sam's hypnobirthing classes with my daughter who was a first time mum and naturally quite anxious. I can't rate Sam highly enough! She is an excellent teacher who is very experienced and knowledgeable and she has the ability to explain things in a very simple and honest way. All the information she teaches is evidence based and can be scientifically proven. Her calm demeanor and gentle personality also adds to the feeling of serenity that is achieved during the relaxation sessions. The course itself covers a lot of information in a relatively short space of time without feeling like it's being crammed or rushed. There was plenty of time for discussion and Sam encouraged us to share our stories and feelings with the group. I have to say that as a birthing partner I felt by the end of the course that I was confident I could support my daughter emotionally and ensure that her birth plan choices were carried out according to her wishes. Although in the end my daughter was unable to have the natural water birth that she had planned, she still found the techniques learned in Sam's course invaluable. She was able to overcome her disappointment at having to have a last minute C Section and by remaining calm through breathing and relaxation she was able to stay in control of the process and enjoy the birthing experience fully with no anxiety! I would recommend Sam's classes to every expectant mum. Hypnobirthing works, it makes complete sense and it creates the most relaxed and calm environment for a new born baby to enter the world.

I wasn't sure what to expect with hypnobirthing but Samantha made it a comfortable experience with realistic expectations. It helped in giving me the confidence to communicate what I want for the birth of my first baby in my. birth plan and in appointments with midwives and consultants. Sam’s hypnobirthing course was invaluable to myself and my partner. I was particularly dubious about the concept of hypnobirthing due to my own preconceived ideas. However, Sams evidence based and science led approach was very much up my street. My partner much appreciated feeling part of the process. Due to Covid and the subsequent restrictions, he couldn’t attend scans or appointments. So he particularly enjoyed and got a lot out of Sam’s zoom sessions. The resources and links that were sent on the lead up to the birth of our baby girl was brilliant. Our birth didn’t go according to our initial plan and we messaged Sam the night before we were due to be admitted into hospital explaining that our plans have made a sudden change. Sam was amazing and jumped straight on Zoom to give us some additional pointers and re capped techniques. We couldn’t recommend Sam enough ! Thanks again for all your support and advice.

I would highly recommend the Wise Hippo Hypnobirthing course. It has completely changed my mindset on giving birth; from genuinely terrified to informed, relaxed and calm. The tools you are given on this course are invaluable. Sam is an amazing teacher, the classes are fun and backed by research and facts.
