I would like to express my thanks to Dr Hadinnapola, nurses and assistants for the excellent care I received on Hethel Ward in April. Everything was clearly explained and all staff were kind and caring as well as professional. What was particularly striking was the care given to a lady with dementia whose behaviour could be challenging. She was always treated with patience and respect.
I would be grateful if you would pass on my thanks to Hethel Ward.
Yours sincerely

New addition to family needing special care transferred here and receiving all the care he needs. Absolutely top hospital and team with everything you may need. I can’t say enough in praising the care and support the hospital is giving.

If you were to ask me how good this Norfolk and Norwich was ten year's ago I would of said it's the best hospital around. All my kid's were born here and me and my kid's have had many hospital operation's done here and everything was ace. But over the last five to six year's my health has gone down hill big time. My liver is bad, my chest / lungs are bad and I've been diagnosed with Emphysema in 2017. I see the chest / lung specialist in 2017 and was told I would see him ever six month's and now we are in 2019 and I've not seen him since that first time. That's so wrong it's unreal. It's the same thing for my liver specialist, I've seen him a few time's and now I've not seen him in 2 year's. I've talked to my GPs doctor about this and got him to chase it up but still nothing. It was not until I had to kick off at my GPs really bad to get him to listen to me in early 2019. He chased them up and he said I'm sorry to say you have been lost in the system and I'm very sorry for this. The specialist's have not been doing their job right, so all I can say is I'm sorry for all this. Now I've got to be re-referred back to them to start it all off again. This is so wrong in so many way's that they just forget about people and don't follow up on them. If I were you i would make sure you know this could happen to any one of you that use this hospital before you start getting your appointment's here or have anything done in this hospital. The care for the people is just not there anymore like it use to be. It's just about the numbers they get and that's it. No care at all as you can see I've been left just to get on with. I'm housebound and they don't seem to care or want to care or to help me get better in anyway. And that's so wrong, I'm now going to the MPs about this as it can't go on anymore. Me and my family will give it a five star but only because of all the nurse's and other staff that keep this hospital going, ,as if it was just left to the specialist's doctor's this hospital would be down the drain. Its all way's nice and clean in the hospital, there's lot's of parking outside but you have to pay for this. I think that's wrong. So all in all five star's all round *****

Diagnosed with aggressive bladder and prostate cancer August 2021 aged 49...given 1 year to live. Underwent 10 hour surgery in October 2021 followed by a 3 week recovery at NNUH . June 2022 - cancer free. If you are about to undergo major urological surgery at the Norfolk & Norwich and a certain Mr/Dr Adam Nelson rocks up to your bedside to tell you he will be your surgeon you are probably, right there at that moment, as I was, the luckiest person in Norfolk.

Had a broken deformed wrist following a fall on a family outing on a Saturday. A and E was packed but I was seen within 4 hours, complete with follow up appointment on the next working day.
All the staff were empathic, professional, friendly and helpful, although they were having an argument amongst themselves at reception at one point, which was a bit stressful for the patients.
The bit about not being accompanied is a bit of a shame. I went through a lot of pain in my procedure and it would have been nice to have a loved one with me. The nursing staff do a great job of trying to compensate for that and they're good at what they do.
Pharmacy set up is quite strange, having to wait outside for your number to be prepared but being unable to see the displayed number if you do so!
There are lots of vending machines around and toilets which is very useful. Be warned that the card payment is affected by poor WiFi signal on some machines so cash would be preferable, but the choices are varied and offer nutritious alternatives to some vending units.
I had a bad opinion when I accompanied someone else here but as a patient it was better than I thought and ultimately it is a service for the patients.
All the clinical staff were extremely well trained and efficient. There were lots of ways they thought of how to make things easier for me: tying my jewellery to my coat so I didn't lose it, giving me a blanket to support my arm while I waited for a lift home, showing me a shortcut to the next dept, carrying things for me, the list goes on. It was that kind of care which demonstrated you're not just a number.
Thank you.
