We arrived 3 hours before our check in time, the receptionist said she would check if our rooms were available. They were and we was able to go to our room, which was very clean and tidy. We were able to refresh before we went on to our appointment.
When returning in the evening we had a warm welcome again from the receptionist.
The room was very comfortable and a good night's sleep. Shower room was excellent with lovely fluffy towels.
Went for breakfast the host explained how it worked ie cereals, continental or fully cooked, you could also order any special requirements. The whole experience was first class breakfast top notch. Hopefully will return very soon. Highly recommended to my friends and family. Well done 👏 ✔
L.Room not very clean, room service came in cardboard boxes even though we were charged a £3.50 tray charge, limited Starbucks coffees in the bar. Charged me the full £10 for breakfast on arrival without explaining I could have less and wouldn't reimburse me on departure. Beds were comfortable though and I slept well.
T.This is a conveniently located hotel in the centre of Birmingham. Our room was fine and offered reasonable value! Evening food and drinks were good. Breakfast was terrible, staff didn't know what was going on and very slow, portions were tiny and we kept having to ask for more food. Overall stay was good, but let down by breakfast.
C.Roadworks outside hotel making pedestrian access very messy especially if raining. Reception staff not very welcoming and despite late checkout request, the room key still stopped working at standard checkout time requiring a trip back to reception to get it reprogrammed with no apology. Reception and bar area lovely and bright but corridor a bit tatty and room too despite new carpet. Lots of noise from adjacent nightclub in the night. Earplugs provided but only discovered the following morning. Luckily very tired so didn't keep us awake but had I paid full price for the room I would've been very unhappy.
Very convenient central location so have to expect some noise as a trade-off.

A.There was no welcome on arrival to the hotel. The check in desk was disorganised and staff gave superficial, seemingly scripted responses to my queries. Nothing felt individual or valuing of the customer. The estate is run down with teeny elevators and the bedroom needed upgrading. Other residents pushed into the lifts as I was trying to leave the lift with luggage. Generally the feeling was unfriendly for a lone female traveler. The bed felt uncomfortable and pillows hard. I really didn’t enjoy my stay.
J. S.From booking to checkout, Holiday Inn have been a pleasure to deal with. Our double room with breakfast was a reasonable price for a city centre hotel. The breakfast options were extensive, well prepared and plentiful. All the staff were efficient and pleasant to deal with.

Parking behind the hotel was pricey at £25 per night (24hrs) but I guess this is standard for city centre. Very convenient for new street station and a 20 minute leisurely walk by the canal side to the icc. The only major downside was the noise from the streets below as the windows in the hotel are extremely poor, old fashioned glazing that lets the noise pour in.

The bed is very comfortable snd aided an excellent nights sleep, the next morning breakfast the waiting staff couldn’t do enough for you, well organised and you have the opportunity of ordering omelettes and pancakes from the chef which we did snd highly recommend. B.Whilst I found the room to be very comfortable, the location convenient for Birmingham New Street Station and the staff to be professional and courteous, I was extremely surprised to be told that I could not go to my room unless I paid an additional £50 security deposit by Credit or Debit card (which would be refunded in 5-10 days). With my company having paid for the room, I was told that in no uncertain terms if the deposit was not paid then I would not be able to stay. I wouldn't have minded so much if this was advertised on the IHG / Holiday Inn website for this location but it was not at the time of booking.

Front desk is efficient and check in was straightforward. Well situated, 2 mins walk from New Street Station and across the road from eateries on Smallbrook Queensway and China Town. Proximity to the centre (7-8 mins walk to Temple Street) is also a bonus. Breakfast is quite expensive to add on, £32 for two, would recommend booking a room with breakfast included. Ongoing roadworks on Hill Street are a minor inconvenience.

A. Q.This was a decent stay. The reception area is nice, as are the rooms themselves. The rooms could be touched up (paint, new blinds, new shower knobs ) but no major issues. The beds were comfy and the room came with a number of amenities including a Samsung TV, iron and ironing board. The corridors were a bit dated and some of the signs need updating and sanitiser stations replenished. The staff were very friendly and happy to help.
K. H.I stay here fairly regularly and have never had a single complaint. All the staff are friendly and helpful, checking in and out is very efficient and the rooms are clean and reasonably well appointed. Very convenient for local amenities, rail station, bull ring, German market at Christmas time etc. Parking although subsidised, is a bit expensive, and now the hotel falls within the clean air zone, so there is an extra charge to drive there depending on your vehicle.

D. H.Staff very helpful and friendly. Food very good. However heating in room was not working, they provided a portable heater which also did not work. Not ideal at this time of year when around 3° outside. Also extras for executive suite e.g. robes and slippers not provided, had to ask and when delivered robes wre sub standard. I made the mistake of thinking the Holiday Inn Leicester City meant it was in the city of Leicester (which it kind of is) rather than being next to Leicester City football ground. So when I drove in as the football match was finishing, there were excited football fans everywhere!
They soon dispersed but you might want to check the fixtures if you are not there for the football
Other than that, everything was great :)

J.We stayed in a suite for two nights whilst visiting Birmingham for a county cricket match. The room was clean and spacious with ample storage space so all suitcases can be packed away. Tea and coffee making facilities were excellent, toiletries were of a high quality.
Do note rooms at the front of the hotel can be very noisy at night, we were on the third floor and despite good glazing and wearing ear plugs we were woke during the night by party goers. Given we are phasing out of lockdown we weren’t too put out by the noise it is nice to hear that people are enjoying themselves but this might be annoying for some. To ensure a uninterrupted nights sleep I suggest requesting room at the back of the hotel.
E.Holiday inn had a great deal for 22 guests including conference room, lunch and bed and breakfast. Value for money was great. Will recommend this to other businesses and will use again.

The bar was quiet (it was Monday night), but service was good.One small point they only had 1 type of brandy! My wife had wine which was good.
The breakfast was great with lots of choice and a good variety of hot and cold things and again the service was efficient and friendly. The staff at breakfast were also helpful and smiling.
Check-out was quick and efficient.
I will return and do recommend the hotel.

Last stayed at this hotel a LONG time ago and decided to try again as they have had a refurbishment.
Positive - the location is brilliant, right next to the train station and next to the Arcadia for china town and the various bars, you are never more than 10 min walk to anything in the city from the hotel.
The refurbishment in the lobby is nice, and it clear some work has been done in the rooms.
Negatives: They still haven't fixed the fundamental issue of noise from the street and the bathrooms are just a bit meh. My main issue was the lack of caring from the check in staff about issues with parking.
Would I choose to stay here again, probably not, even with a cheap rate.
Would I be upset if I ended up here, not at all, but there are better IHG options in the city!
M.Best place to stay for convenience as it is close to New St Station. The hotel is a bit dated in parts and the rooms vary but overall pretty good rooms however being a city centre there can be some noise. The bathrooms are a little dated.
The dining experience is to be honest pretty poor, the only place is the bar which can be noisy and has limited seating, or an area between reception and the back door exit to the car park, and very uninviting. A blast of cold air if the door is opened, and can be noisy, a bit like dining an an open entrance hall. That said, the food is good value and though a limited menu, it is tasty.
You do get good Holiday Inn service here, with very helpful staff when you can find someone.
