L. O.We really enjoyed our stay, especially the staff who were all faultlessly helpful and cheerful, and made our family stay special, with a special birthday welcome in the room. Rooms are pretty tight for 4 of us sharing but was happy to have this option rather than having to book 2 rooms as in most hotels in the area. Shower room nice and modern, breakfast very decent for a 2 star.

z.We stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn Express soon after the hotel reopened during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The staff are a real strength of the hotel - kind, courteous, professional and nothing was too much trouble. We felt instantly welcomed and reassured despite the Covid situation.
Our room was large, spacious and well furnished. The bed was comfortable and I liked the muted grey and navy tones with splashes of bright orange used in the decor.
On the whole the room was clean and very well presented, however there were a couple of issues we noticed - there were a few cobwebs in the corners of the room, some chewing gum had been stuck on the wall above the sprinkler and there were also nose/lip marks left on the exterior of the shower door. These were tiny issues that did not give us cause to complain and did not affect the quality of our stay, however at a time when strict cleanliness and hygiene measures should be a priority maybe a little more time and attention should be taken on each room?
Despite the fact the buffet breakfast was not available we we were still offered a small selection of options to choose from. I had the vegetarian sausage bap which was very tasty.
Overall, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel or returning for another stay. The positives far outweighed the one negative I've mentioned and the friendliness and positivity of the staff really made all the difference.
A.We had an enjoyable 2-night stay to celebrate my birthday. The hotel staff - in particular, Anita and Dean - were always very friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. They really helped make our stay even more enjoyable.
The room itself was very clean. On check-in, Anita kindly put us on the 16th floor, which had a great view. She also kindly bought up a chocolate cake to our room, along with tea and coffee. This was a really lovely gesture, which I greatly appreciated.
Ordering breakfast was a bit different from usual (due to COVID) but it was very easy and straightforward. The breakfast itself was very good quality and a good start to the day.
Dean helped us with a few queries/requests and was always very courteous and polite.
On our final morning, Anita kindly extended our check-in to 2pm (as we told her our train back to London was not til after 3pm). This was another really kind thing to do, particularly as the weather outside wasn’t great, and allowed us more time to relax and use our room.
All-in-all, I would highly recommend a stay here. The hotel’s location is great - Birmingham New Street Station and the city centre are a short walk (5-8 mins) away, making it very convenient.

B.This is the perfect hotel if you want to visit several places in Birmingham as you are in the center of it all. Its within walking distance of most things. I also loved that we were on the 16th floor with brilliant views of the city. I cannot fault the hotel room at all. You have a good variety to cooked food (self serv) to pastries and cereal and a variety of hot drinks and its all included in the price. J. L.This is a great hotel in an excellent location for all the city Centra and only a few minutes walk from Birmingham New Street station. The rooms are well equipped, clean and have a comfy bed. I like the desk space for you laptop as I stay there on business. The bar is only small but all you need really. The breakfast is very nice with loads of choice.

Restaurant still not reopened since covid but they do serve a quite expensive 'stone baked pizza' - aka a Chicago Town stuffed crust I guess sourced from the local supermarket and chucked in the oven! Didn't feel particularly well treated - an example would be an offer shown in the lift but not offered when I purchased - when I queried afterwards was told 'sorry I can't change anything now, it's already been rung through the till'. Overall an OK stay though, room functional and clean and great views over the city centre. If you're looking for luxury avoid, but it ticks the box for cheap and at least mostly cheerful 🙂

The only issue we had was the room wasn't fully equipped with tea and coffee facilities or bathroom accessories like soap, although I know there was some on the wall in a dispenser. But upon asking at reception it was quickly rectified.
Breakfast was OK, the sausages looked and tasted like they'd been reheated a few times though, so improvement I feel is needed there, but the general 'work around' in order to ensure safety worked well.

The views are good if you are high up, and very quiet. The breakfast is complimentary and have the basics - bacon, sausages, eggs, baked beans, cereals, apples, bananas and mini muffins. It was very busy when we arrived and tables were uncleaned, mainly due to staff shortage.
