Amazing experience! Visited the Grand Hotel with my partner a couple days ago as a early Valentine's treat and enjoyed their afternoon tea experience. Everything from the quality of the tea down to the tableware itself was such high quality and the service was superb. Fast, friendly and made us feel special and at ease. The sparkling cocktails I would definitely recommend to have with or after your afternoon tea. We'd love to come here again and bring more of our loved ones to share this special experience!

Madeleine's Bar was lovely.. everything we expected, lovely atmosphere and decor, fantastic service. Drinks are not cheap, but you would expect that there... Book a table in advance!! We then.went to Isaac's Restaurant downstairs... I was a bit underwhelmed... It was American diner style, set menu... Don't get me wrong, the food served was lovely, and service was excellent, and very friendly.. But to go from Madeleine's Bar, suitable dressed up for a lovely cocktail bar, to then head down to Isaac's American Diner style, was a bit of a change... The food was good however.. Steak was delicious, Fries were beautiful, my wife had a delicious lobster... Very nice evening all in all

Exemplary service from start to finish, with a smooth check-in and checkout. We stayed in a loft double for the night, and the room was perfectly nice for the price paid, being both well equipped and thoroughly clean. The bed afforded a good night sleep, and the breakfast was delicious. We were disappointed that we didn't get a chance to try out the bar, but plan to return in the near future for a relaxing weekend. Thoroughly recommended.

A family group of 5 of us had drinks at the Madeleine Bar last night.
The bar itself is beautiful, so well decorated and furnished. The drinks are reasonably priced for such a classy venue.
My only criticism is how long it took to be served. It was a fully 25 minutes after being seated that we got our 1st drinks.
That said, we will definitely be returning

A fantastic cocktail bar who are well used to going off menu. We had some of the best sidecars we have ever had. Our host Sunni was fantastic and gave us a great history of the hotel and a tour of the grand ballroom. Top chap

We had an amazing time at the Grand Hotel Birmingham: a beautiful, modern and impeccably clean hotel in the heart of Birmingham. All the staff are extremely attentive, friendly and professional. The room was excellent, no noise at night and the bed was very comfortable. Definitely a place to go for a special treat.

Excellent hotel experience at The Grand. Rooms are spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Staff are warm, professional, flexible and efficient. Breakfast is delicious and their cocktail bar is the best in the city. I can’t recommend it enough!

Exceptional hotel with everything that a five star hotel would offer. From the time we walked in and met by Christa who was so helpful and to all the other staff who couldn't do enough for you. The room and bathroom was so spacious, clean and had everything you could think of including yoga mats and a fridge with soft drinks in.
Also it had all the nice touches including personal name on the TV and a Birthday cake and personal message from Christa.
Recommend highly as in a great location and has great indoor bars and restaurants. ( Madeleines and Isaac's )
Thank you so much for a nice stay with you.

This hotel made my stay wonderful, as a disabled guest, rooms in other hotels are usually not a good or as glamorous as the able bodied rooms but at the grand that is not the case the bathroom is beautiful the room is roomy and classy. I really enjoyedy my stay and greatly appreciated the little touches that Christa and other staff did to make our stay special for my husband's birthday. We shall definitely stay here again.

The refurbishment and service at The Grand is second to none. An absolutely superb stay.
I requested a picture of Roger Moore in our room as a special surprise for my partner and it was done with exceptional finesse by the guest services team. What an incredibly memorable stay. Highly recommend.

Stayed here for my daughters 18th birthday.
Excellent hotel.
We were greeted straight away where they took our bags to our room.
We were given a room upgrade and when entering our room they had added a cake and balloons to make it extra special.
All staff were very friendly and helpful.
Would definitely stay here again.

Isaac's Bar in the basement: classy place, attentive service, decent cocktails.
Food menu more expansive than expected.
Not quite sure why online booking advised us it was 'full' when there were tables clearly available upon arrival. However, would return.

From the moment we walked through the door, we were struck by the beauty of the building and by the friendliness of the staff (particularly Giuseppe). We quickly gained the impression that nothing was too much trouble, and that the staff genuinely cared that we enjoyed our stay. We chose interconnecting Deluxe rooms, which were comfortable, stylish and spotlessly clean. Our stay at the hotel was to celebrate my mum's 80th birthday. The staff left her a cake with a lovely note wishing her a happy birthday, which was much appreciated. We all agreed that The Grand Hotel is a beautiful, characterful and friendly hotel in a perfect location.

Had a drink at Madeline bar. Very classy decor throughout and great service. Needs a more extensive cocktail menu. Very reminiscent of the merchant Hotel in Belfast. Expensive but par for the course
M. Y.
Hotel is beautiful but bar closes at 10.30 even to guests. Told we can order room service from room - 40 min wait in a Diet Coke. Minibar fridge in room empty all bar two tiny bottles of water. Not 5 star service even if 5 star surroundings.

Lovely stay with the family and our cocapoo. Fantastic art around the hotel and such friendly helpful staff . Thank you Uwen 😊 for being so kind and helpful. My 8 year old loved the adventure of the hotel she especially loved the ballroom.

Beautifully decorated, really nice ambience, excellent service from staff from the minute you walk in. Went for afternoon tea, my only negative, poor selection of sandwiches, it seems geared towards non-meat eaters, definitely would have preferred, ham, chicken etc. The choice was, egg mayo, cheese and pickle and smoked salmon with cream cheese. Also only one finger of each. The cake selection and the scones - one each of plain and fruit, were very good. But the best was the homemade clementine jam, beautiful. I would recommend and will definitely visit again.

This hotel is beautiful. The hugely expensive restoration and refurbishment is evident everywhere and makes it a very special place which is both modern and classic. We stayed in a Deluxe Twin Room which was huge and sleekly furnished, with high ceilings and a beautiful view of the cathedral. The staff are attentive and friendly and there is always someone nearby to assist. The breakfast was delicious and brought to our room for a £5 tray charge which worked perfectly for us as we wanted to enjoy the room for a little longer. The Madeleine Bar is classy and cosy and the cocktails are wonderful. Make sure to book a table for cocktails or you will be disappointed, it was very busy. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily return to Birmingham just to stay at The Grand again.

Stayed there four nights. Breakfast included. They do a lot of things well but failed on some fundamental issues: the room was unpleasantly cold, and no manipulation of the heating settings was able to alter that. Maintenance visited twice to try to correct - no joy. A number of channels on the TV did not work at all. Chromecast did not work - apparently this is the case with Android phones and every TV in the hotel. Why did reception not tell us this initially, rather than having guests waste their time trying to make it work.
Most of the staff are very pleasant and most helpful. But not all of them, and the exceptions were jarring.
The breakfast food was very good, and the ambience in the bar was perfect.
I'd have to think very carefully before I decided to stay at this hotel again.

We stayed here the night before and night of our wedding - so pleased that we did! The hotel is absolutely stunning - Madeline's bar, the breakfast room and our bedroom were beautiful. We were fortunate to have a loft room overlooking the cathedral - stunning views!
However the best part of the experience was the staff who were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The little suprises and touches to celebrate our wedding made the stay really special and memorable. We will be back and look forward to a trying out the rest of the cocktail menu!
Really great gym room too!

Some friends & I spent a wonderful few hours in Madelines bar.
The atmosphere was spot on, the decor sumptuous. Great staff & a decent range of drinks. Actually pretty fairly priced.
We'll certainly be coming back. I'm sure it's delightful in the daytime too.
A. P.
Very nice hotel. Great, easily accessible location close to the train station and local shopping + dining. Very pleasant staff. I really enjoyed our visit
R. L.
Attended my daughters wedding on 16 October 2021. Staff could not have been more helpful and were a credit to the hotel.Great food for the wedding breakfast and the evening. Would recommend to all and gave a very different view of St Phillips.Wonderful renovation has taken place and feel privileged to have been there. Thank you for a wonderful day never to be forgotten.
K. B.
Stunning hotel, huge investment by the owners to bring this hotel back to life. No detail has been overlooked. Spotlessly clean, decor stunning and if you can, go check out The Ballroom. Staff super super friendly (Jen, thanks for sharing your love and knowledge of the hotel). Will definitely return. 5 stars not enough!
B. V.
The best hotel I have stayed at in Birmingham! Very friendly staff at check in, very pleasantly surprised with our room, clean ,very spacious, comfy bed .. literally ticked every box.
The Madeleine bar was stunning , again staff were so accommodating, cocktails were amazing , great place to relax with a drink.
Only 1 slight negative- the bar is mainly bookings only and you may get turned away if you don't have a booking. Luckily we managed to get a spot at the bar which was fine.
Maybe the hotel should recommend guests book a table in the bar prior to check in. Would be a great shame if hotel guests didn't get to experience the Madeleine!
All in all amazing stay!

We had a fabulous time at The Grand Hotel in Birmingham. All the staff we met were exceptionally helpful. A very professional, friendly and cheerful team who made our stay special.
Breakfast was excellent.
Thank you all for looking after us so well; much appreciated and we shall look forward to our next visit.

Lovely place for a Christmas dinner party. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff were great, but the food was worth a special mention as it was absolutely delicious. A very good evening all round.
T. D.
Didn't stay but did have the pleasure of a few cocktails in the Madeleine bar. What a stunning place and what amazing staff. I have to single out Richard who was happy to engage with my love of bourbons and Old Fashioned experiments. Will definitely return, stay and possible never leave.
A. B.
The doorman was not at all welcoming. My wife and I only wanted a pot of tea and he tried to turn us away to the pub below, which may have been part of the hotel, we don't know. We wanted a cup of tea in the lobby area and managed to enter after being persistent. To our surprise there were very few people in the lobby ,so why doorman was trying to keep us out we'll never know. Still the pot of tea was welcoming and served with a smile from the pleasant waiter.
I. A.
What a wonderful place. The cocktails and bar snacks were exactly what we needed to kick off our night. Plenty of decent bars in the nearby area, if you fancy mixing up your evening. Breakfast at Isaac's, the basement restaurant with fantastic decor, was delicious: salmon and scrambled eggs with a cream cheese bagel.
The staff, from start to finish, were never less than magnificent. They should all be very proud of the experience they've helped to create.

Everything about this weekend was lovely. The room, the food (breakfast was the best I've ever had in a hotel. Sausages were amazing). The staff were great and nothing was too much trouble. I can't wait to visit again.
A. J.
A delightful afternoon tea at a beautiful venue with great for money. Sweets and scones both vegan and standard were delightful which isn't always easy. The clotted cream was light and creamy but with a thick centre so was the best I've had yet. Great value for money!
G. Y.
As soon as you walk through the side door entrance, you can immediately see can see where all the money went into the refurb. It's simply stunning, without being over stated. Everything about the place is top notch, from the service, to the room we stayed in and the amazing bar. We only stayed one night, as our early Xmas treat to each other, but cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.👍👍👍
Oh, and although the hotel have a deal with B4 parking, there's cheaper parking closer and cheaper at Great Charles Street.
I. D.
I had a fabulous stay here, with fantastic customer service as nothing was too much for the staff at reception, Madeleine bar or at the meeting rooms. The Grand Hotel is beautifully decorated with an air of nostalgic ambiance, a must to visit when in Birmingham, my favorite place was at Madeleine bar but you will need to book in advance as it is a very popular bar
C. T.
Stayed for one night with a friend to celebrate a birthday. We arrived much earlier than the check in time hoping to leave the luggage whilst we explored the city. What a refreshing change we were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome and advised “let me check if we have a room ready” there was. The hotel has been beautifully restored, our room was fabulous as was The Grand Ballroom. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, staff helped with reservations in both the Madeleine Bar and Issacs Restaurant, even though both were busy and having drank and eaten in both it’s not surprising they were nearly fully booked.
Already booked a return visit for myself and five friends for our Annual Xmas Reunion, I’m sure The Grand won’t disappoint.
D. M.
Really nice place to stay, the rooms are superb with nice views and very quiet, you wouldn't think you we sleeping in the centre of town. The staff have been well trained and are very attentive to all needs. There's a huge amount of drinks available at the bar, would recommend the cocktails. The breakfast is tasty too. Would definitely recommend a nice weekend break stopping here.
D. F.
Very lovely hotel, a bit difficult to find the entrance as its round the side of the building. Room was clean & a nice size. I was impressed to find a Nespresso machine in the room so extra points for that. Breakfast had a good selection.
C. L.
Didn't stay here only stopped at the bar for a pot of tea. The decor and furnishings all looks great and the general ambiance is of refined relaxation. If I was going to stop over in Birmingham I would definitely give this place a try. The tea was good, took a while to come out but it was worth it.
J. S.
We came into the hotel bar on the 12th and they were fully booked, however the manager helped us find a table in the restaurant Issacs and carried our pushchair down the stairs. Outstanding service!
V. o.
Service was great, our waitress was very engaging. I would have given 5 stars but the corn bread wasn't great, it was dry and heavy. We have had cornbread in the states may times and this didn't match it at all. Other then the corn bread our starters and main courses were very nice.
C. L.
Only stayed one night mid week but it was rather good. The staff couldn't do enough for us even to the point of calling us before our stay to ask if there was anything we needed in our room on our arrival. The young man that checked us out even commented that it was his pleasure to also have checked us in and considering he must see hundreds of faces a day I was impressed by his memory. If, in future,I need a hotel in Birmingham this is the 1st place I will be calling.

A great place to stay, we had a brilliant time , great surroundings , had a view of the Cathedral, and the Ivy restaurant was near by. The hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble , room service was excellent. We we're celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and was presented/surprised with a delicious cake and some kind words.!!Nice touch.... Recently refurbished to a very high standard..very impressed. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice.Would definatley stay here again and would highly recommend to everyone we know.

A welcome addition to Birmingham. Finally a 5 star hotel in the City Centre. Its a lovely hotel which has been lovingly restored. Staff are very proud of the establishment and service is excellent. The bar is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. The hotel restaurant also provided us with excellent breakfasts while we were there. The room we had was spacious and well furnished.
There are some limitations to its city centre location. Although is official address is on Colmore Row. The entrance is actually on Church Street. There is no free space in front of the entrance to drop off your luggage and this can be inconvenient if you are driving and travelling with young children (they should really have rented the spaces off the Council) added to that there is no onsite parking. The recommended parking is quite expensive even with the discount. There is no swimming pool or spa. The gym is small and oddly the area for weights is not air-conditioned and has free weights only suited to very advanced body builders (very heavy).
Would I return? Am still undecided.
D. T.
Great hotel in a good location.
Very opulent look and feel, staff are very helpful.
The ballroom is a good size, with good facilities.
I enjoyed my time at this hotel, I would recommend the bar and restaurant here too.
A. A.
I rented the penthouse suite which was absolutely fantastic. The decor was some of the best I've seen. Service was impeccable. One of the best hotels I've ever been to.
N. M.
Probably the best hotel I've stayed in in years (and through work I stay in lots). Great rooms, great bar and restaurant and exceptional staff who stand out because they genuinely care about making your stay as good as it possibly can be and go out of their way to make that happen.
Located minutes walk from museums, bars, restaurants and Birmingham's shopping, this is a perfect hotel for a weekend get-a-way. I'll be back.
g. b.
Having a great stay here, staff are ace and super helpful. Isaac's food is really lovely and the spaces at the hotel are nice! Definitely recommend
S. S.
We went to Isaacs and the service was amazing! Malwina and Rueben made us feel so welcome and took really good care of us. Some of nicest hosts we've ever had in a restaurant. The food was incredible and the cocktails were the best in Birmingham! Thank you for a wonderful evening! We can't wait to come back again X
S. M.
I had an event i provided equipment for and the staff helped me in ways i thought unimaginable. And this ethos is in all its staff. What an amazing hotel. Best service i have ever received in the UK!
The service reminds me of a 5 star hotel stay at a hotel Abroad!!
This place is worth a visit and stay.
R. B.
Fantastic hotel and the service was outstanding ! From the first moment we arrived until we checked out. Faultless throughout. At door, reception, bar, restaurant. Exceptional. Would not hesitate to return or recommend. We even extended our stay ! 👌
D. G.
Excellent hotel - will be my "go to" hotel in Birmingham in future. Just stayed here with Family (4 rooms) and the rooms and service was 10/10. Will definitely be back to The Grand Hotel very soon
S. G.
The Grand Hotel in Birmingham is the most beautiful hotel in the world. From the moment you step into the foyer you are surrounded by grandeur and opulence and feel so welcome.
A. C.
A fantastic addition to Birmingham's hotel scene. Definitely worth a visit. Beautiful architecture and attentive staff. My only criticism being the T-shirt and jeans appearance of the Isaac's bar staff; if I wanted to be served by people that looked as though they worked in Weatherspoon's, I'd expect to pay Weatherspoon's prices.
H. C.
My friends and I celebrated a 40th birthday with drinks in Madelaine's bar and dinner at Isaacs. Both of which are visually very beautiful. We enjoyed the drinks we had in the bar but there was a problem with the details of our reservation We had dinner booked for 8 but the bar wanted us to leave at 7:30. The lead member of our party asked to speak to the manager but no one came over and in the end, we were told by the waitress we could take our table in Isaacs a little early.
In Isaacs, we had friendly and efficient service but my friend and I thought our food was bland. Steak tartare to start was excellent admittedly but the meatballs were dry and tasteless, and the cheesecake was thin and uninspiring. I'm a foodie and I didn't bother to finish either.
Toward the end of our meal, a member of staff came over to ask us if we would be coming up to the bar soon otherwise we would lose the table we had reserved for after dinner. When we got up there, there were plenty of tables free. I understand that reservations need to be kept but a staff member could have suggested that our drinks were taken to the bar as we settle the bill, both confirming our table and providing the service that I would have expected from a luxury hotel.
Overall, I felt that the experience felt slightly inhospitable and disjointed at times. It is a stunning place but I won't head to Isaacs again soon. Will definitely head to the bar again though.
R. B.
Wow what a hotel.
The Grand Hotel will give all other hotels within the city centre run for their money.
The hotel has that uniqueness, one of a kind feel. The warm, rich texture & ambiance feeling.
Will definitely be back soon.
K. O. (. b. K.
Very beautiful hotel with great touch of luxury. My brother booked room here for his engagement and the decor and the views were amazing. Can't wait to visit again to lodge here and try the restaurant(s) on site.

Stayed here on Friday for a belated birthday present and also mine and my husbands wedding anniversary. The hotel is spectacular! The staff were so friendly and attentive to all our needs. Had a lovely surprise in the room with a hand written note and a bottle of Prosecco on ice for our anniversary! Breakfast was delicious. The rooms are beautiful and the decor is stunning. The grand staircase is breath taking and I felt like a queen. I will definitely return! Thank you to all the staff for being so lovely! You do the hotel proud.
L. T.
Absolutely LOVE this hotel. The staff within the hotel are just so accommodating and lovely. This was our second time staying, we got upgraded to a suite which was the most amazing surprise! And the room was incredible! We felt so spoilt and lucky.
The decor in the hotel is very elegant and luxurious with a touch of edge - we love it! The only few things we would say, I think the terrace bit is so so beautiful and we couldn’t understand why it’s not really in use for people to have a cocktail or two up there? Maybe there’s a reason.. and also we found the Madeleine bar, the two times we’ve stayed, a disappointment- staff wise and cocktails. Cocktails don’t taste very nice (trying to be too fancy) but also find the staff aren’t very friendly or accommodating- we waited a good 15 mins for someone to come ask us what drink we wanted, then another 20 mins for the drink… we then sat there had our drinks, waited and waited but no one came to check if we were ok or if we would like another.. so we stayed in total about an hour and 15 mins and only had one drink… would of asked for one but the staff were just whizzing past seeing to other people or no one to be seen.. Back to the hotel - 5 stars for sure! And highly recommend!!
Bar 1/2 stars from us and would recommend that you don’t waste your money and go somewhere around the area for cocktails.
M. W.
An awe inspiring building, respectively upgraded to the very highest of standard, with staff who clearly care about the history, the success of the hotel and most importantly the customer experience. From the initial booking to the final goodbye nothing was to much trouble, the staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable who made us feel like family as opposed to customers. Nothing was too much trouble, tours of the renovations, knowledge of the history, pristine service and immaculate rooms, can not recommend any higher, a huge welcome back!
A. T.
Called in on a visit back home to Birmingham. Used to use the Backyard Bar, then Colmores bar from about 1975. Fast service, but a liberty I think to add 10%service charge when you order at the bar, and are not served at a table. I hope the staff actually receive this, not just going into the company account/profit.
R. W.
An amazing night celebrating my husbands 60th birthday. Staff were very attentive, particularly Elvis who ensured nothing was too much to ensure our guests had a fantastic evening. The hotel is beautiful. The Grand bedroom is so special spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. A great treat for a special occasion. We want to do it all over again, such a fun night. Great time had by all.
R. B.
It was amazing!! The bed was so comfy and the room was spacious and the bathroom was amazing. The staff were so lovely and polite. I will deffo be staying here again!!
m. B.
Absolutely Beautiful venue, food is outstanding especially the Vegetarian dishes. The hotel has been completely transformed and is a class above the rest
J. W.
We visited for a afternoon tea with my friend the place was lovely and the afternoon tea was lovely we had a glass of champagne it was all lovely but a bit pricy has it had gone up
S. F.
Had a great time celebrating our engagement last weekend. Every single person made our stay memorable and special in particularly Christa, the lady that roomed us and the breakfast Manager was very welcoming. Loved everything about this place. Thank you for taking such good care of us
C.
Four of us had dinner at Isaacs, which is in the beautiful hotel. We had not pre-booked, but there were tables available. We hadn't realised food was served from 6pm. The staff were marvellous as we explained that we were short of time. They took our order and suggested that if it were possible, they may be able to serve us before the kitchen was officially open. Within 30 minutes our food arrived - we couldn't thank them enough, such excellent service. We had cocktails, wine, 3 vegetarian mains, fries, plus the meatballs, followed by 2 deserts totalling £130. The food was excellent and the restaurant is stunning. We would highly recommend Isaacs. Thank you so much to all the professional staff, we had a super time.
D. F.
Came for drinks in the Madeleine bar and had an amazing experience! The building and renovations are beautiful and the atmosphere was perfect. Every drink on the menu looked delicious and the few we tried were as wonderful as expected. The bar manager Toby was the most gracious host and his skill and care is second to none. An absolute must visit if you want to feel like the fanciest person alive.
L. V.
Absolute perfection, as always. The two sips vodka martini is just perfect. And thank you to the excellent Suraj for making our evening so special!
D. L.
Absolutely great. Enjoyed our lazy afternoon of cocktails. Staff were friendly. Lovely atmosphere
J. D.
Splendour indeed. Sympathetically restored. Attentive staff. Rooms are a delight and spotlessly clean. Faultless.
N. S.
Just had afternoon tea at the hotel today with my daughter. The food and service in particular Elisha was excellent. She was so accommodating with nothing being too much trouble, also very knowledgeable about the hotel and its history. A beautiful hotel we will definitely revisit in the future.
I. G.
Very very impressed. Beautifully restored, excellent rooms and bathrooms, but most importantly, kind, friendly and very attentive staff. Will definitely stay again!
A. F.
What an experience and such an achievement for an opening week, so lucky to have visited at this time. Many great things to appreciate, delicious classic drinks and cocktails, classy decor given new life with a cooling modern twist and a splash of unique thrown in to win your attention. I could go on and on. But the winning contributing factor to the top notch opening atmosphere was the warmest of welcomes from very well presented and polite staff, their attention to detail within guest service was excellent. Very well informed and communitive, and actually seemed to be enjoying the experience of The Grand Hotel too! Nice personal touch.. Will visit again very soon. Thank you
J. A.
Took my daughter here for a special 21st birthday drink on the Madaleine bar. Fantastic experience gorgeous surroundings and staff went above and beyond
J. W.
Luxury in a grand setting. Best hotel in brum, the rooms are spacious, impeccably decorated and full of nice little touches. Nice bar too
S. F.
From the moment you step inside this beautiful hotel you feel like a VIP. That's because, in my opinion, great guest service is the hotel team's top priority. Yes the surroundings are stunning, but it is the little thoughtful touches that made our visit, shortly after the hotel had re-opened, so special. A delicate 'Happy Birthday' cake, yoga mat, luxurious bath robes and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on meant our room became a place of sumptious relaxation during our stay. From reception staff to the cocktail waiters and friendly conversation with breakfast servers, my boyfriend and I felt welcomed and so well looked after, right down to being quickly provided with a face mask when we couldn't locate one of ours. Nothing was too much trouble and I really didn't want to leave this oasis of luxury and elegance from a bygone age that is so perfectly blended with our modern times, served with a
contemporary twist, from decor to food and drinks menu. Thank you to everyone who met us with a friendly smile and professional approach. In particular, we would like to thank Front of House Manager Marta who pulled out all the stops to make our stay unforgettable. Suffice to say - we will be back!
N. W.
Perfect!! Birthday afternoon tea. Food is amazing, staff are wonderful and the venue is just gorgeous! Can't fault it!
A. W.
We had an event at this hotel and I can't complain rooms were clean and tidy the only fault was the rooms are quite dark so getting ready and applying makeup was awkward.
R. C.
What an amazing venue! The food was absolutely flawless, staff were professional and helpful, everywhere was clean and hygeine friendly.
I will 100% go back!
G.
I've just had a truly wonderful experience staying at The Grand. We stayed up very late and were still able to order breakfast via room service for later that morning. And the cocktail bar is beautifully decorated with top-notch service and drinks. I'd love to stay again when circumstances allow.
s. u.
My partner and I stayed at The Grand opening weekend and it was amazing from the moment we were greeted, all of the staff were so polite and attentive and made us feel so welcome. The room upgrade was such a lovely surprise and something that we did not expect at all but made my partner feel so special. The madeleine bar was so gorgeous and our waitress was so kind (so disappointed that I have forgotten her name!). The complementary champagne was such a nice touch. We are already trying to plan our next visit.
Thankyou for everything you did for us.
We hope to see you again soon
R. T.
Absolutely loved this hotel. Beautifully restored building, large comfortable rooms, spotlessly clean. The staff without exception are excellent; everyone we dealt with was friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure we had a lovely stay. My new favourite hotel.
C. F.
What a welcome we had. Upgraded to a suite wonderful concierge welcome bottle with a cake and note congratulating us on our 2nd wedding anniversary.. outstanding hotel.
M.
Stayed 11th August 2021, just for one night, with my partner, in Room 520.
From walking upto the front door, being warmly welcomed in, fully engaged with and escorted to the Reception desk by the duty Consierge (apologies...no name!); to being checked-in by the very amiable Luka, and then personally escorted to our room, the service was absolutely impeccable.
Later that evening, we spent a lovely few minutes, chatting to Jasmine, working away tirelessly in Madeleine's bar.
As we were checking out, the very kind Portuguese (sorry, should have got a name!) male Reception staff member personally took us into the magnificent ballroom, and chatted with us, filling us in with fascinating details about it, and its restoration.
Basically everyone seemed to genuinely care about us, and our stay there.
Without question, the best hotel in Birmingham at the moment and I won't be told differently! 🙂
K. J.
Had a lovely stay. The hotel itself is high quality. We had been left some champagne and a note for our 10th anniversary. Breakfast was delicious too. My only quarm would be that the bed was a bit too firm for what I like and there was only 1 dressing gown in the bathroom. Aside from that, staff were friendly and attentive. Would stay here again!
M. C.
Nice hotel , very clean and tidy and helpful staff
However the breakfast choice is poor . Overall the food was ok not great.

Best stay in Birmingham shame I can only give 5 stars, worthy of a golden buzzer! Friendly staff who bent over backwards to make sure we had the perfect experience. Brilliant bar/ restaurant facilities, made our visit that much more special. Will defiantly be back soon I hope.

So impressed.
The decor was most definitely grand. The service was grand and all the staff were grand.
Cannot fault this place. I will be returning in the near future and will be recommending this place to everyone.
Fantastic location and so happy with our stay.
Thank you all.

I would like to praise Lygia Silva. She has gone above and beyond the call of duty....if you have an employee of the month, she should get it...she has been an absolute star
M. B.
Really great refurbishment. Rooms and food amazing both during the day for meetings and in the evening. Will go back

Good not great. I really want to give this place 4 stars but need to be very honest. The location is excellent and the staff make up for any short comings. But , the room was dark and oppressive. Room service was a disaster. The charge was taken off the bill ( rightly so). No continental breakfast but the full English was great. There are teething problems here but should go on to develop into a capable hotel.

It gives me great pleasure to leave this review , I wish the hotel all the success , my daughter is 15 and her prom was cancelled at short notice I called Martha who was glad to assist and say it would be a pleasure to let the girls come to the hotel and tale pictures , the staff were most kind and really made the girls feel special .
It’s a five star from a dad and we as a family will use the hotel again
Thank you for all your kindness

Stunning hotel, best we've ever stayed in,all the staff in the hotel we're very pleasant and helpful.when we checked out I asked if we could have a look around the hotel, this wasn't a problem, we were shown the ballroom and a penthouse suite, nothing was too much for them and the room was spotless. Definitely stay there again.

Madeleine is undoubtedly the jewel in The Grand's glittering Crown. Toby is a consummate host and sets a lovely, relaxed pace. The room was busy, dressy and glamorous - Toby and his velvet suit presented it all brilliantly.

Wow! What an amazing hotel. By far the best hotel in the city. Lovely spacious 5 star rooms, excellent bar and fantastic service...we were treated like royalty. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Birmingham needed a hotel of this standard, nothing like it around. We will be staying and visiting for food and drinks regularly. A huge thank you to all the staff, especially the lady that escorted us to the table (apologies that I can't remember your name) and to the front of house manager Marta, thank you for making our stay so special.

With decent places to eat in short supply in Birmingham, I was really surprised to find that this place doesn't do a lunch service... you do know the ivy is booked out for weekends for several weeks... seems like you missed a trick.

Nice place to have coffee and chat with friends. Passion fruit martini and Machiatto was good.

I've actually applied to work at this magnificent place. Haven't heard anything yet but my application form has been acknowledged. So my visit was a fact finding one.

Can't describe this hotel with a few words.
It's an executive hotel with quality rooms, superb service and a prime location that gives you access to different areas around Birmingham.
The little time spent here has been worthwhile. Looking forward to the next time I'm here.
All done to management and team for keeping up their standards.
