J. J.Met with open arms by a helpful host in Mario. The hostel is secure and includes a car park at the back. A fridge with free sandwiches and crisps on the side is a nice touch. Helpful that there was a wetherspoons next door for a drink. The botanic gardens are a half hour walk down the road and the west end itself is just an hours walk. Overall a great stay, would recommend.
s. s.My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights and we had a very wonderful, peaceful, relaxing, enjoyable stay. The beds were comfortable, we enjoyed conversations with fellow travelers, Mauro at reception was so incredibly friendly and accommodating, kitchen facilities were excellent, common rooms were great, showers were hot and had great pressure, quiet as it is located further out from the city center yet it is a very short walk to bus Stop and train station. Great value. Would recommend to others!!

There are both, a railway station and a bus stop, right across the road where you can find transportation to Central Glasgow. All of this, at a very affordable price!
It was a delight to stay here, and I would definitely consider staying here the next time I visit Glasgow. This is a place that made us feel like we don't deserve something so nice! Thank you, Mauro, for making our experience of Glasgow much better than it already way.
S. K.Friendly, welcoming, comfortable beds. Private parking, easy accessible by public transport, quiet. Very generous as well, I got a discount :-) recommending this place if staying in Glasgow. Only thing that was a problem for me: kitchen doesnt open before 7.40am. So if you need to get out early for work or travels, or if you just wake up early, you practically can't have breakfast or need to get your stuff out the night before, because the door is locked in the morning.

I visited your hostel a few months ago and it was a wonderful time in Glasgow and the stay at your hostel definitely contributed to the great experience there. It was my favourite vacation. I really loved how friendly the staff was and how clean and secure the shared 6 person-bedroom was. The people there were great, staff, other guests, really nice. The possibility to cook in the kitchen was fantastic and the breakfast was also swell. It really was a joy to stay there and I don't have a single negative critique point. It was really good!
It was also great to meet the people who stay there longer than a few days, too. That made it possible to easily chat with people who knew their way around the city, too. And breakfast was always a nice and open atmosphere. I liked how the hostel attracted respectful, friendly and open people.
[[Sidenote for people who have allergies aswell: the room was really clean and they had nice bed sheets (like regular good old cotton material, not something with a synthetic main component)]]

Best thing about this hostel besides the staff is the full kitchen you have access to.
They don’t run activities for the guests but there are a few communal areas to interact.
A tiny way out of the city but so close to Anniesland station that you’re there withon 10 minutes anyway.

Cons: -This hostel is not located close to the city center and you need to consider taking the train or the bus to reach it! No walkable distance.
- the beds were not very comfy and bedsheets didn't smell very fresh to be honest. The bunk beds are so loudy and squeaky, it's annoying.
- it's more a family low budget hostel than a youth hostel;
- the breakfast is not worth it, even if it's super cheap: no real coffee and very poor quality food: go eat something downtown!

We reserved the Alba Hostel when we read the reviews which showed great customer service and super friendly staff. We weren't disappointed and Mauro the owner has a super mario personality, bubbly and really helpful.
Location:- The Hostel is located just 20 minutes by bus 6/6A from the city centre, or by train from central station to Anniesland 10 minutes. Easy access to the famous West End side of Glasgow.
The Hostel:- 2 minute walk from the bus or train stop, walking past the Esquire pub (Wetherspoon), on the right hand side. It is more of a Guest House than a typical hostel and boosts a corner spot near the pub without the noise.
Check-In:- On entering, you see lots of information about Glasgow and directly into the reception where you are met by Mauro who meets and greets you as you were long lost friends, which is a nice touch. Speaking Italian (wouldn't expect anything less from an Italian), English and Spanish.
The Room:- Nice and cozy, clean with twin beds, modern mattresses and duvets with an arrangement of toiletries and a kettle with tea, coffee, chocolate and some biscuits and chocolate bars. Mauro wants to really welcome you to Scotland with the Tunnocks chocolate bars ;-). There is a large wardrobe and a bedside lamps including an extension cable for all of your chargers.
We had enough space to practice Yoga together so it was nice and enough for 2.
Facilities:- The hostel as more of a home than any hostel you probably know, with a large lounge, dinning room and a double kitchen to prepare meals if eating here. There is also a large flat screen TV in the lounge to watch sports, or the news including board games, and books.
Wifi is great, fast and reliable throughout the whole hostel.
The kitchen is pretty large with cookers, microwaves, pots and pans and space to store your fresh food. In general the whole are is spotless and well maintained.
Customer Service:- Great service provided by Mauro and the staff, they make your stay as welcome and cosy as possible but giving you your space if needed.
Local Area:- You are close to the main high street which has lots of restaurants, fast food, beauty salons, a Morrison's supermarket and a library. West End is a 25 minute walk, we did it this morning to check out the area and eat some Asian food as it is packed with Asian restaurants, more like the China town of Glasgow.
Recommendation
We had a really comfortable 4 nights and were happy with value for money and the facilities on offer. Great for any occasion, short, medium or long term, Mauro can help you with any plans or planning.
Book directly and you might get a better rate.

The host was a lovely person and was there when you needed something spezial.
The self-cooking kitchen had everything you needed to cook some small meals. But there are some pubs and restaurants nearby aswell.
We highly recommend this nice place!

J. B.Coming from a party hostel, Alba was a nice change. It's owned by an Indian man who converted the house his kids grew up in to a traveler's haven. The layout and rooms are simple...not a lot of flash...but the you can't beat the accommodations for the price.
The staff are friendly and helpful...had 0 problems during my 4 night stay.
The hostel is located about a 45min walk from city centre...but there is also a bus. I enjoyed the walk myself (it's along a major road and easy to find).
l. o. l.Ok, let's do the usual stuff first: nice location (close to station, restaurants, supermarket, drugstore, laundrette etc.), well designed rooms (private rooms and dorms), plenty of very modern bathrooms, thoughtful details that make it very convenient for travellers to feel like at home (like free showergel), well equipped and spacious kitchen, almost luxurious common room and nice seating area, interesting people, great conversations, AMAZING price-performance-value and so on!
Now to the stuff that makes Alba an absolutely outstanding hostel and might be one of the nicest hostel experiences you'll ever make: Mauro. He is - and I do not only write this because I promised him I'll leave a review - probably the best receptionist ever seen. He is outstandingly welcoming, has a chat with everyone while handling the usual receptionist work, really goes the extra mile to help guests with any issue and always wears a smile that suits him so well. Thank you, Mauro.

It's location is in a quiet neighborhood so it is good for relaxing but still is very close to train and bus stops from which is easy to get to the city center in less than 15 minutes. I arrived on short notice and was warmly welcomed, by Mauro who is Lovely and helped me greatly he his Super!! :)
First night here I took a 2-minute walk to the Chinese and came back to eat in inside in the spacious dining area! Also to be noted there is two well-equipped catering areas with fridges and all utensils!
I have recently started the gym that's only is 5-6min walk "Sweet" Really Great Location! While getting food from the local Morrisons for breakfast and dinner! There is pretty much everything you need at your doorstep!
You can get your clothes cleaned, have Chippy, McDonald's, dominos too! :)
Did I mention the Shower! What! the best shower I have had in a long time "Warm and Powerful" Really nice to wake up to and start your day! :) Need aftershave or toothpaste you can ask at reception no need to go out if you're running low! :)
Location is very good, Trains come very frequently and I rarely wait more than 10mins to get one to the city centre, this is the same for the way back and it only takes about 10-15mins to get into town!

M. D.Just remember that it is an hostel and that your night is one of the cheapest in Glasgow and everything should be fine! I stayed there for a little more than a week and my experience has been mostly positive. The place is clean for an hostel (don't expect the tidiness of a Hilton, but still!) and the staff is friendly. It's a quiet place, no big parties is the living room and the closest bar closes at 12 am, but you can make some friends there for sure if you are open to smoother ways to make some. I personnally met people there with who I want to stay in touch as long as I can! It is a bit far from the major attractions in Glasgow, but it is pretty easy to get there during the day either by train or on foot (Byres road and the Botanic Gardens are only a 30 minutes walk away).
Definitely go there if you are in a mood for a cheap and good night sleep, to meet very interesting and nice new people from around the world and to enjoy the proximity of both City Centre and other destinations like Loch Lomond!

I stayed there longer period. The staff was incredible, very friendly, welcoming and helpfull.
The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. All around the hostel you can find also a lot of shops! I also met a lot of new interesting people during my stay there.
Next time when I will visit Glasgow, I will defenetly come back.

G. H.Alba Hostel has a very friendly staff and is very reasonably priced. It is well located, at roughly three miles from the city center. It is a long walk, but there is a bus stop and a train station with five minute walking distance, which more than makes up for the distance.
My only complaint regarding Alba Hostel would be about the rooms. The needs ms are very basic, with bunk beds and lockers. If you are tall, I suggest this top bunk. The bottom bunk does not offer much head room sitting on the bed. The beds also creak with almost any movement and can be quite noisy

F. L.(Translated) The Alba Hostel is rather tidy, giving more the impression of being a B & B than a hostel on the first floor. The room we stayed in had its own bathroom, which was very clean and comfortable. The only drawback of the room is the number of beds: 8, we felt a bit cramped although the high ceilings do something about it. The beds were rather squeaky and so subtle when people move but still comfortable. The bedding is included and feels very good (which is a big plus compared to other hostels). The living room is very comfortable and welcoming. The cleanliness and the location (the basement) of the kitchen left to be desired, the floor was dirty and full of stains, an unpleasant odor emanated from I do not know where. The equipment provided was however numerous and diversified and the 3-4 refrigerator was ample. The staff is ultra-helpful and very welcoming, we could even leave luggage there for almost 1 month for a very low price. Although the hostel is not directly in the center of Glasgow, it is very easily accessible by bus and if you are lucky like us, the driver will not charge you (poor backpackers that we are haha).

L'auberge Alba est plutôt coquette, donnant plus l'impression d'être un B&B qu'une auberge de jeunesse aux premiers abords. La chambre dans laquelle nous restions avait sa propre salle de bain, celle-ci était d'ailleurs très propre et confortable. Le seul inconvénient de la chambre est le nombre de lit : 8, nous nous sentions un peu à l'étroit bien que les hauts plafonds y remédient quelque peu. Les lits étaient plutôt grinçant et donc peu subtils lorsque les gens bougent mais tout de même confortable. La literie est incluse et sent d'ailleurs très bon (ce qui est un gros plus par rapport à d'autres auberges). Le salon est très confortable et accueillant. La propreté et l'emplacement (le sous-sol) de la cuisine laissent par contre à désirer, le plancher était sale et plein de taches, une odeur désagréable émanait de je ne sais où. Les équipements fournit étaient toutefois nombreux et diversifiés et les 3-4 réfrigérateur étaient amplement suffisants. Le personnel est ultra-serviable et très accueillant, nous avons même pu laisser des bagages là-bas pendant presque 1 mois pour un prix très faible. Bien que l'auberge ne soit pas directement au centre de Glasgow, elle est très facilement accessible par le bus et si vous êtes chanceux comme nous, le chauffeur ne vous fera rien payer (pauvres backpackers que nous sommes haha).
