You certainly can’t tell that this is a hostile. Historic building with amazing woodwork and really comfortable, clean rooms. It also boasts the cleanest and most organized kitchen area we’ve ever seen in a hostel. They have four chef stoves with plenty of utensils and dishware and pots and pans. They also have a dining room that’s huge and spotless. We were there at the beginning of Covid, and anytime anybody sat at a table, the moment they got up somebody darted in to disinfect the table. I really can’t say enough good things about this experience. If you like hostels, you’ll love this one. We get private rooms and they are totally worth it if you were traveling with a partner.The staff is also incredibly accommodating. Would happily return.

Perfect to use as a base while going round Glasgow. Don't think this is a hotel, there's no TVs or kettles in the room - it's a hostel! If you get the bus out from the city centre, make sure you get the 4/4a like the hostel suggests. I walked up from a bus stop on Sauchiehall Street after getting the 77 and could've done with CPR at the top of the hill! I'll certainly be back to this hostel in the future!

the heater in our room didn't work water in the shower was extremely low pressure the room was acceptable, but not super clean. we ordered a double bed but got two single beds that would slide away from each other, the single bids were smaller single size, not satisfying. there is a bit of a walk to catch public transportatoin. otherwise, the building is great, I loved the staircase and decoration. Staff is really nice and helpful.

Great hostel in the middle of the city. Not sure how they managed to get this beautiful building, dead-centre and in the fanciest neighborhood I’ve seen in a long time (there was a Rolls-Royce parked in front of the door), but it definitely gives you the feeling of being a wealthy traveler on his/her way to some kind of secret society meeting. The interior is less inclined to render this feeling (could use some work here and there), but nevertheless a comfortable experience.

Great location, great room, great facilities. Everything is now reopened after COVID including the guest kitchen. On a hillside above Kelvingrove Park in a converted period mansion. My third (or fourth?) stay here, I'll be back again sometime.

Lovely hostel in a very grand building. Staff were really helpful and the tea and coffee in reception was a life-saver. The pay & display parking wasn't ideal but considering the location, which is on a peaceful road overlooking a park and very central in Glasgow, it's a pretty minor concern. I hope to have the opportunity to visit again.

The location is fine (short walk to the center and a quiet area) and the staff was helpful and friendly. The house is an old Scottish "villa" and there's a good amount of storage space in the rooms. The mattress looked bad at first but I actually slept very good. The shower is very hot (which is better than cold) but leaked all over so the water pressure wasn't very good. Also we were missing some power outlets in the room! There was only a single one behind one of the beds in a 6 persons room. All in all, fair hostel for a fair price!

I visited this hostel in the Summer of 2019. Very big, nice and clean hostel. The staff was really nice. The hostel had a super location, next to a beautiful park with a nice view. It was easy to reach and commute to the city from. Met some lovely people here. I will choose this hostel again when I get back to Glasgow!

Really nice location. A park across the road, the centre is a 10 minute walk away, and the Glasgow Univesity is just across the park. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable with an en-suite bathroom. I'd stay here again next time

Reasonable price for a bed in a shared room. Really nice old building in a good shape. 24h reception and not far from the city center. Nice neighborhood and great views from the lounge. Only the self-serving kitchen has no windows. My room was en-suite and had 6 beds, shower and toilet were separated. Had a really nice stay there.

This is late review, I stayed in this hostel about a year ago and it was by far the best hostel I've stayed in! The people working there are so kind and hospitable and the hostel was fairly empty when I went and they upgraded me and got me my own private room with a beautiful view of the city on the top floor! In a great neighborhood next to a gorgeous park and still walking distance to everything downtown. 10/10 would recommend!

Great value for money. Made me feel younger sleeping there because I'm fairly old. Clean place and well run. The breakfast was free but very basic.. so jam and toast, but it gave me enough energy to make the five minute walk to the west end cafe where I highly recommend the breakfast.

Good value for money. Spacious rooms with attached bathroom and toilets. The place is maintained very clean and the architecture differs a lit from most other youth hostels which look too cramped. You can opt for a breakfast/dinner and also get some beer/ ciders at the reception. It's close to many tourist attractions like the kelvingrove gallery and has a huge park nearby. One downside is that it's a bit far from Glasgow Central and quite a but of uphill walking to reach the place.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff on the desk during the day shift although the beds creaked a lot and the bathroom in my 6-person dorm was the kind where you wouldn't want to touch the floor if you could avoid it. That said, if you have thongs for the shower and a set of ear plugs, the mattresses are positively agreeable in comparison to other hostels; you'll sleep soundly! I went during the winter and it feels very empty unless it's absolutely bustling with people but that's not a problem with its location, a short walk from the heart of West End and across the road from a lovely park. I'd caution the prices over £18 for a bed but otherwise, a very solid hostel! Worth serious consideration👍

This hostel is in a great location, next to a beautiful park almost in the centre of the city. The building is fantastic and all rooms are very spacious. There are a lot of facilities to use. However, important things like chargers or showers, are sparse. There were no individual power sockets by the bed, and you have to either charge your device in public areas or leave them on a floor at your room hoping no one would step over them. Also, some guests in our male dorm were perhaps a bit over when it comes to drinks. Of course, this is not the hostel's fault, but somehow I never seen anything like this in YHA hostels during the last five years.

I had a enjoyable stay for couple nights. Very friendly staff and comfortable environment. It might not be easy for travelers with huge suitcases for its location and stairs, but ideal for backpacker. It’s an old building with antic vibes, very lovely. Might take some time to public transport sites tho.

This hostel is alright. It's clean, feels safe and has most everything you'd need. It is a bit far from the city centre though, and I wish that each bed had an outlet. My room only had one outlet in the entire room. For 10 people, that's pretty sad, luckily they supplied a power strip for us to use, so it worked out. There is free WiFi but it doesn't reach the room. My room didn't even have cell service unless you stood at the window. For the price per night, I was a bit disappointed.

Bit of a walk from town (25min-ish to the station/city centre) but good facilities and helpful staff. Otherwise pretty standard hostel with all the usual amenities. In a nice (very flash part of town) park nearby and plenty of choice if you want to eat out. Plenty of information on the city and the rest of Scotland - can book tours, taxis etc from reception.

I stayed here for the weekend in March 2012 with some friends. It has a great location, on the edge of a park, with far reaching views over the city to the hills beyond. There are some nice local bars and places to eat. The city centre and university area are both within walking distance. The building is huge, with interesting and beautiful historic detailing. Accommodation was clean, comfortable and cheap.

Stayed for one night. It was quite a hassle carrying our bags all the way up the stairs but the rooms were very nice. They do have a locked luggage room, but I didnt want to leave my stuff there. The shower was either burning hot or ice cold, I could never get it a moderate temperature.

I think this is a very good place to stay. Staff were very helpful and the rooms very clean. Kitchen area was very helpful if you want to save money and prepare your own breakfast or other meals. It was also very handy to have a laundry to clean your clothes. The only issues I had was that Wifi is restricted mainly to the main lounge room. Also there are no lifts in this building and it can be a long climb up the staircases to the 2nd and 3rd floors with heavy suitcases. I was here visiting Glasgow from Melbourne in October 2015 and enjoyed my stay very much.

Out of all the hostels in Glasgow, this is the best option. Last stayed here in 2014 where you would find a basement kitchen where you can make/cook your own meals. There is a restaurant that offers a basic breakfast for an additional fee. This is an old building so that also means lots of stairs especially if you land up on the top floor. The last time I was here there was a quiet internet/reading room, a TV room and a games room. Not sure if these things have changed, but this is really good for hostelling.

It is in a good neighborhood of the city, it is quiet and close to the center (15 minutes walk). The attention at the reception has been very pleasant, 24 hours a day, and very attentive to any request. The hostel has common spaces such as a lounge with sofas and tables where you can connect to Wi-Fi and another with billiards. Some negative points or that could be improved about the hostel are that the wifi does not reach the rooms, you have to go to the common room. The rooms are austere and I have missed a bedside table and a lamp. The continental breakfast is pretty fair (toast, yogurt, juice, coffee, cereal, fruit and little else). In short, it has been a good stay, we have been very comfortable and they have treated us very well. (Original) Para ser un Youth Hostel tiene cosas positivas y negativas. La localización del sitio no es nada mala. Está en un buen barrio de la ciudad, es tranquilo y está cerca del centro (15 minutos andando). La atención en recepción ha sido muy agradable, las 24 horas, y muy atentos a cualquier petición. El hostal tiene espacios comunes como un salón con sofás y mesas dónde conectarse al wifi y otra con billar. Algunos puntos negativos o que podrían mejorarse del hostal son que el wifi no llega a las habitaciones, hay que ir al salón común. Las habitaciones son austeras y he echado en falta una mesita de noche y una lamparita. El desayuno continental es bastante justo (tostadas, yogur, zumo, café, cereales, fruta y poco más). En definitiva, ha sido una buena estancia, hemos estado muy agusto y nos han atendido muy bien.

Die Zimmer sind sauber und auch sonst herrscht (dank der ungewohnt hohen Decken) eine angenehme und Luftige Atmosphäre. Für ein Hostel bietet es alles was man braucht, auch wenn das Frühstück (welches Hauptsächlich aus Müsli besteht) recht karg ausfällt. Kostenloses Wlan bekommt man dort allerdings.
