Tartan Lodge is The Best Wee Place Ever.....Prob because I was in charge of operations when Canmy and Mo bought the place ,good memories When I was the Manager All the reviews were positive visited it recently and the maintenance needs looked at again prob needs a wee bit T.L.C over all l loved it working and living there..

Brilliant value. Clean and comfy. I stayed in my own room but there are shared rooms available. My only qualm was that the car park was very small so parking wasn't always available. I do understand that this not a easy issue to fix but I thought I'd mention it

It's out of the way, but there are buses that hi there. The 38 is closer but it's an uphill walk from Buchanan bus station. Another bus goes from there on stand 39 every hour, but it's from a housing estate at the other side Taxi would be my choice with baggage. They are really helpful and lockers are available for just ,£3. Clean, comfy, good size room. Great bathroom and shower. Worth a stay.

Very nice place. Actually I was quite surprised. The room and the bathroom were clean, big and comfortable. It is a little far from city centre but everything else was OK. Free carpark on the street and behind the hotel. The one thing I found not nice is that there were no openable windows for some fresh air.

It's cheap and cheerfully Hilton it's not but in a twin room we had which we didn't order through booking.com we ordered a double bed but there was a mix up somewhere beds were comfy room was cleanish toilet seat was broken kettle was temperamental tea and coffee was supplied as was soap and towels we even had an onsuite I cannot complain for what you get for the price so close to city centre roughly 1 mile 20 min walk.

Beds from £7-8 pounds while still being walkable to the city centre which is fantastic. Beds are comfortable, staff a very friendly and helpful. Kitchen is fully equipped. No elevator or disabled access, and the access cards for the room will regularly fail and need to be reset due to an old key card. Common room is also near and tidy.

The hostel is a little far from the city center but it is the cheapest option. The hostel is large and has many rooms. My friend and I had problems at check-in and the staff ended up putting us in a room just for the two of us. Cleaning is ok. Quiet to spend the night.

Good overall experience. Great location and facilities, clean and relatively quiet. Only negative is about staff. Out o 3 member of staff I encountered at reception was warm and slightly friendly. The guy who checked me in on Friday seemed to be very lost and did not seem to know what he was doing. After checking me in, he made me wait until at reception while he checked someone else in, being around 10pm and me feeling really tired I just wanted to find my room and rest. I found him to be be out of touch and unprofessional. No ground rules explanation or other information. Checking out on Sunday, another young guy at reception was not even to respond to a greeting or say a single word during the process!!! I just don't get it. Now I feel although I liked the facilities and cleanliness I don't think I'd go back, I think human contact is part of the whole experience especially having shared a room with two great guys. I think they should be trained in customer service or or people who understand the hospitality business be employed.

Convenient and cheap; comfortable yet sterile; no atmosphere and definitely not the friendliest hostel I've ever stayed at. Itchy as hell bed linen. Asked the guy working reception for local recommendation - was told to check on my phone! About sums up the place.

It was a hostel. Very basic, slept in a room shared with 5 others and just 1 shower room and toilet to share. Definitely not enough. Shower room wasn't very clean. The curtains had blood stains on them, and if you want a towel you have extra charges coming out of your ears. Your experience is very dependent on who you're sharing with, first night were a load of backpackers who got up at 4am and I didn't hear a peep. Second sleep a few backpackers got up at 7am making a racket. Oh and a crazy homeless lady who thought turning the light on at 4am was acceptable. If you can get a private room then do it, if you can travel and book with a load of friends then do it. I don't recommend for pairs or singles.

Good location and price, parking lots, nice clean rooms, nice bathrooms. Check in/ out uncomplicated. The Design was a bit cold, it wasn't cosy. The kitchen was the only thing I really was unsatisfied of: there were nor cups/ mugs, nor little spoons. Did someone steal them?

Great place with so much personalty. When I booked my friends had booked the travel lodge (night out) and thought I should have done the same however once I got there it was a night and day difference. The staff are very friendly and quite happy to have a chat the building itself is lovely the big sash windows are beautiful! Parking was easy to find just behind the building. For the most part I'd recommend this place for those traveling Scotland on a budget as an alternative to the big budget hotels. A lot of character and even a few quid cheaper!

Check in takes a good 5 minutes and holds up everyone else in reception. Beds are pretty rough. Staff fail to tell you that your room keys are prone to de-magnetization and you need to get them fixed at least three times a day. Kitchen is nice but staff don't tell you how to use the stove. This hostel could be great if you felt like the staff even gave half a damn.

I arrived at the site around 10pm. Once I got to the front desk reception, I was told to pay for the room £12(4 beds, mixed dorm), I payed in cash because they don't take debit/credit cards at the site, but I think that you can pay by card after you have made your reservation online. I got a room card and a piece of paper with my room number, the number of my bed and the wifi password on it. I wanted to ask the receptionist guy about the general rules inside of the rooms but he couldn't be bothered to answer 3 simple questions and instead told me to look it up on their website or ask someone in the morning. Fortunately my room was super easy to find, and to my surprise the room was super tidy and felt cozy. There was already one guy inside, in bed #2, while my bed was #3 above his. I plugged my phone in to charge and in the mean time talked to the guy, he mentioned some very useful things. For example for extra 2 pounds you get a clean towel so you can shower, for around 4 pounds a padlock so that you can leave your room without worrying that someone could steal yours valuables. Maybe an hour later a woman checked into our room, all of us went to sleep around the same time so nobody was making noise thous making others unable to sleep. Unfortunately I was only able to sleep for 2 hours, because the guy was snoring so loud. I checked out around 6:30 am while they were still sleeping. Overall I would recommend thisbto someone who is on a tight budget, but if you can afford another 15 pounds per night then I would go somewhere else.

I liked it, the beds are super comfortable, the staff is very helpful, if you check in early, you'll have to pay 5£, same thing if you check in late after 10pm. They provide lockers to store things for 3 £ and you can print your boarding pass for 1£, do it because printing somewhere else could cost 2£ or more

I stayed in the deluxe double with private bath room. First thing to note, no opening window or airconditioning of any sort. Hot and stuffy. Zero soundproofing, we heard every hallway conversation in the middle of the night as if we were there. Shower flooded bathroom every time due to design flaw. Housekeeping knocked on door at 0930 despite check out being 1100. Poor finishings even for a hostel with holes in the wall of the shower where the pipes come in and the tap jutting out. Small 6/7 car private carpark with room for about the same via free on street parking. Bed was comfortable and the TV was good. Reasonable kitchen and dining area. Lounge and pool table was sizable.

It is a nice hostel but be careful with some details or they will rip you off. Don't use your card for example, each time you use it they will charge you a 3£ fee for it. I wanted to upgrade my room so the front desk person promised to refund me the following day after I talk to management, because he had to charge me a whole new room. Next day I found out there is no management office there and that I could only write them an email. Today 5 days later and thousand of miles away they haven't reply to me. Of course no refunding at all. 3£ just to rent you a small little towel. 4£ for a poor breakfast. The list goes on.

If you're looking for a cheap stay in a hostel this is a good choice. It's about 30 minute walk from the centre or a 10 minute bus ride, bus stop is just over the road. Can't say I would stay here again though, building was excessively warm ( October ) so had to have windows open all night and it was loud outside with the traffic and crossing. Duvets were amazing and thick, pillows and mattress were satisfactory. Kitchen facilities are good, social area could be made more homely. One bathroom to 8 people was a bit difficult. But can't knock the place for the price.

It was nice and clean and all, but the key cards for the rooms didn't work literally every time I wanted to enter the room. I always had to go down to the reception, where they then fixed the card. That wasn't only me but everybody in my room, and probably everyone in the entire hostel. The staff was quite friendly, but seemed pretty unmotivated at times (which is understandable, I also wouldn't want my main occupation to be fixing everyone's key card every day).

Nice clean place, basic facilities but more than sufficient for an overnight stay and well maintained. Off road parking was a bonus. Good value for money, only real gripe was only a single pillow on the bed and that the room was pretty hot with the thick duvet provided.

Great little place in a fantastic location with easy access to the city centre. Brilliant facilities in the place itself too and nice clean rooms. The only problem I had was that in a private room, house keeping wasn't shy about coming into the room whether you were in or not. Some do not disturb signs would fix this and save my girlfriend running to the bathroom.

It's cheap and cheerful. But not very tidy despite best attempts by the staff. The receptionists are overworked. They are also the cleaners and breakfast servers. It's 30 min walk to the centre of Glasgow and has a bus stop just outside. Beds have charge points which is great. The bathrooms here could be better maintained. They have a lot of long term stayers so the reception usually have a bunch of guys watching boxing etc. They all know each other and dominate the reception area. They also have a much quite reception area in the basement which I often used. There is a kitchen. The main thing is it's cheap, you get a bed and that's it. I wouldn't stay too long but decent place for a night or two

The best value for your money. 20 minutes walk to the center. 4 beds room was cozy and with space, lockers under the bed. Industrial area thats why its so cheap, if you want to be close to the center pay more and get normal people staying and not weird. Yes the walls shake when a truck driving in the road. Stayed in the upstairs private room, which was really interesting with its arch windows. Room was clean and tidy and much bigger than expected. For the price it's impressive. The location isn't perfect, about 15 mins to city, but there are buses and a supermarket nearby.

Its cheap, utilitarian and in an interesting building. We had the deluxe suite and it was ok and clean. the walls sound through so you can hear neighbours doing stuff or talking. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Dominos, Subway and a gas ststion nearby. City centre is a brisk walk away.

I'm content with this place...if there are problems it's really your room mates. Room was clean and tidy. Bathroom en suite was clean too. Of course it's a bit noisy since the M8 is running past outside. Bus stop to the city is right outside. Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis are only a 10 minute walk away. All ok for the low prices.

Great hostel that feels spacious, has good beds, a large common room, games rooms and a kitchen for those wanting to cater for themselves. Handy for the High Street and Drygate brewery and only a 15-minute walk from the city centre.

(Translated) The staff were disappointing. They helped you but everything was with a sour face and lots of spills. It was 10 times worse in the morning. The breakfast was also not super but they went out of their way for the price. The bathrooms were cleaned daily which was good. The common areas were limited but did satisfy. It didn't smell fresh everywhere, but our room was fine. The location was not bad. We did have noise nuisance from people who walked noisily through the corridors but you have that in many hostels. En general un buen sitio para pasar unos cuantos días y visitar Glasgow, Edimburgo y demás.
