Good hostel with very nice common rooms and kitchen. Very helpful and nice staff who sorted everything out as fast as possible. But they have to work on cleanliness in the bathrooms. Everything was super clean besides that! Will definitely come back!

Nice little place to stay in city, very close to the lovely hyde park if you're feeling an early morning walk. I'd recommend bringing your own pillow as the one i had was so flat it was essentially not there. Service was pretty good though the lady at the front desk when I checked in was bubbly and helpful

An amazing hostel in a truly enchanting building. The staff are excellent, and this property and their entire chain of hostels is exceptionally well managed. There’s a wonderful social environment, fantastic community involvement through initiatives like their charity breakfast, and an unbeatable location in South Kensington right by unmissable attractions like Kensington Gardens / Hyde Park, the natural history museum, V&A and the Royal Albert Hall. I made some of the best memories of my life and some amazing friends in this hostel and really recommend that anyone and everyone chose Astor when they visit London.

Nice hostel and well located. The staff is nice and available when needed. The room I was in (10 dorm) was spacious and clean. The toilet was maybe a bit old, but not horrendous. The breakfast idea is good (1£ that goes to charity) but when we arrived there were no toasts nor coffee! They brought some quickly though. I would come again and I definitely recommend for some touristy days in LDN!

Nice place for the price and a good staff. Lots of fun evening events and a good set up in general. I appreciated the level of security used with key cards for the rooms. Got to witness them take care of a guest who'd broken the rules too and was reassured to see how quick and on it they were. Everything was generally clean and I had little issue with that. Really appreciated the large storage lockers for holding bags. The bed was too hard for me personally and the pillow provided was very flat. But overall good experience and would stay here again if needed.

Cool place, with a nice “Common Room” and nice staff. It is located in a beautiful area, close to the science museum and many embassies. A 12 min walk from the Underground and a 2 min walk from the bus stop. The rooms are not big, but comfortable. I only had breakfast once, but the idea of donating a pound(£) as payment is honestly really interesting and something I don’t usually see in other hostels. The only semi-negative things are the duvets, that look very old and yellowish.

I don't remember when was the last time I wanted to write a good reference. However, I was so impressed with Astor Hyde Park hostel, that I would definitely give it more than 5 stars! I can say for sure that it was the best hostel in London I've ever visited. For such money you won't find a better place to stay. Astor has everything you need: a comfortable room, useful facilities, great design, wonderful location, awesome atmosphere...I liked everything! Personnel is also very helpful and understanding. When I had to check out, I needed to leave my luggage till the next day. On the information desk I found out that unfortunately they cannot keep it overnight. Astor offers visitors a storage for free and it can be full on weekends - the time when I wanted to leave my bag. However, when I explained my situation to the girl on a reception desk, she agreed to keep my bag till the next day, which was extremely helpful. And they didn't even charge me! While in other hostels you should pay at least £3 even if you want to leave your luggage for a few hours until check in. Therefore, I want to express my sincere gratitude to the owners and to all people who work there. Thank you for making inexpensive and comfortable traveling possible! I'm really glad that nowadays not every hostel cares just about money, charging for every single thing. In Astor I felt that first of all, they care about people. That's why I definitely recommend them! Continue in the same spirit:)

Nice hostel in good location with good communal facilities. Kitchen, dining room and lounge are well equipped and comfortable. However, the beds are super uncomfortable and feel like a slab of hard polystyrene. Plus they are pretty short so anyone over six foot will not be able to sleep with with their legs straight. The room I was in had two lockers under each bunk but three beds stacked so hopefully there are more lockers elsewhere

Overall great experience! Most amazing thing is the location, and that is what you are paying the bucks for. I found the rooms and all the areas were clean. There's events run each night and these are great if you are solo or just want to meet more people. The rooms (or at least what I stayed in) didn't have great facilities (power plugs were across the room, no night lights) but I spent so little time in them that it didn't matter too much, and it is a hostel not hotel. The common rooms are great and fill the void well, and otherwise you're in the middle of the most luxurious suburb in London.

Great location! A 10 minute walk by foot to the nearest metro station. Also the neighborhood was beautiful, clean and quiet. The staff was very polite and helpful. The breakfast was also great! The room was quite big and clean. There was no elevator and we had to go up and down the narrow stairs caring our luggage.

Staying 6 nights at room 11 first floor with 6 beds total, 3 bunks. 2 washrooms with a shower, sink inside the room. Staff incredibly helpful with any questions. Kitchen is good, however the pots and pans have seen better days. Still usable to make eggs for our breakfast. Paid 35/day per person. Would definitely recommend. Great safe neighbourhood. Good sight-seeing spots within walking distance.

I would have stayed longer if I'd have known how great this hostel was. The staff were super helpful and were able to lend locks and power adapters. The upstairs rooms were clean and quiet in the well-maintained, but older building, with comfortable bunk beds. The lounge and downstairs dining area made for decent spots to relax and chill with others staying at the hostel. The kitchen was supplied with free coffee and tea, and the morning breakfast was just 1£ — including bread/toast with jam and other spreads, cereal, milk, and juice — a useful budget option. Lots to do nearby, with the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, and Hyde Park all within a few blocks, and getting everywhere else after a ~10 minutes walk to the Tube. Would definitely stay again!

A nice hostel great location, the staff are very friendly and attentive. However I did spend the night without a pillow after I asked for one as mine seemed to be missing. However I have had this before in other hostels so not a big issue for me. The breakfast was nice and was great that they put the money towards charity. This is definitely one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. First, the good: excellent beds, AWESOME showers, beautiful historic (but very modern) building, wonderful and safe upscale neighborhood, and great overall location, free breakfast - juices, tea, cereal, jam. Awesome staff. The only downsides, which did not bother me are these: it's a 5-8 minute walk to the train station and there's no elevator. That's it. Otherwise, can't recommend enough.

This is what I would call your standard great hostel. It has many good large common area like the kitchen, dining room, and main room. The rooms are a good size and the beds are well constructed so they don't creak or more any unnecessary noises. The bathrooms are clean, numerous, and well stocked. The only downside is the very slow Wi-Fi. It's not unusable but don't expect anything picture heavy to work quickly. Happy enough that I would come back. I stayed in a 4 person room.

Most of the staff are overworked and you can see that in how they deal with customers. Have had no fault with check in, the lady was lovely and friendly. The problem is after checking in I found out towels are not included, this is a negative considering I paid 78 for 1 night, the same price at a hotel would have given me a towel. First time booking at a hostel and this was not clear on booking. The price for a towel was reasonable at £1. Again another problem, due to a proper schedule or overbooking I was told there was no towel available until 1-2 hours. A bit of let down after checking in at night and having to check out by 10am. The thing I liked about the hostel was the armosphere, and the fact they run a charity breakfast for a good cause between 8-10am. My advice never book the ensuite rooms available or travel here in a couple it's not worth it. My partner was not happy and she made she sure I wasn't either. Thank you for unforgettable experience.

Amazing place to stay when on a budget. The service was amazing, there was always someone to talk to at reception. Got to leave my luggage overnight with no additional costs! The people I were staying with were so sweet and kind. The showers and bathrooms could do with a renovation however.

Really great hostel! A beautiful old building with up to date amenities, a fantastic and knowledgeable staff and a brilliant location. It's right next to Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens, a ten minute walk from Gloucester Road tube station and there are plenty of bus stops nearby. The room is bright and large, one of the best in the hostel according to the staff. Large communal spaces and whilst I didn't partake in any of the hostel activities myself as I had other plans, there seemed to be a lot on for people to make friends and get to explore the area, from picnics to walking tours to pub crawls. Highly recommend this hostel to people coming to visit London.

The hostel was very well located (2-3 blocks from Imperial College, British Science Museum, Hyde Park, and British Museum of Natural History, and about a 5-7 min walk to the nearest tube stations), has relatively comfortable beds, and a relatively extensive supply of kitchenware. The best hostel I have ever been so far. Though there are several minuses like stairs vs elevator, no chairs in the room, it has a very friendly staff and perfect location. I haven't been much inside as I spent most of my time walking around London but I liked the place.

The location is great, but the facilities are so outdated that it's embarrassing. For a place that charges over 30 pound a night for a dorm bed, I find it shocking that the rooms do NOT have AC, and that no care has been put into the bathrooms to make them clean, new, and modern for guests. I just came from Asia where even the most remote hostels managed to have AC units... come on, London. Given that Astor has so many locations, I thought they would hold themselves to a higher standard. When you're charging so much a night because "it's London," maybe you should provide your guests with better quality.

Easy check-in, great location, average accomodation, very friendly and welcoming staff. Less than 5 minutes walk to Hyde Park, Imperial College, National History Museum and much more. Each floor is a double, so if you get 2nd floor you would probably be climbing 4 stories via stairs, they do not have elevators. The rooms have ensuite bathrooms, which are clean but not well maintained, the shower curtain was half torn, toilet paper was finished and had to request. They have one pound cold breakfast. Padlocks and travel adaptors can be rented with a deposit of five pounds.

Lovely, quaint property in a not-so-great location in London (public transport is close by, but there aren't many places within walking distance). Friendly staff, clean rooms, spacious kitchen and a whole lot of free services that most other hostels in London would charge for (locks for the safes, luggage storage...). One warning: lots of stairs, no lifts. If you have accessibility requirements, then this place is not for you. One bummer: you can't book this place if you're 40yo or older. This seems to be a thing in many hostels in London, and it honestly puzzles me.

Don't get stuck in the basement. The upstairs floors all have beautiful, big, open rooms. The room we were in downstairs was filled with 12 of us and there were no windows. 1 bathroom to share and there was no air circulation. The internet/wifi would not reach the room either. It's a shame because the rest of the hostel is great and it's in a really lovely location. The outside architecture is spectacular.

its good. old historical building, so it is of course not super modern. if u want super modern, u must go to the generator. the location is great, but its very exclusive district with many many diplomats. this means prices are high. but from here it is very easy to travel around. many spots by walking and of course tube. rooms are ok, beds are ok, shower is well, half ok. but its cool. the staff is great. everything is clean. i can recommend this hostel very much!!

Room could get a bit stuffy -nothing opening the window for a brief minute couldn't fix - and it was a shame there weren't outlets next to the bed, but otherwise great. £1 charity breakfast was a great way to start the day; with a full stomach and extra change in your pocket.

They are not trying to rip you of your money. They provide a large lock for your under the bed locker for free (five pounds deposit that you take them back). Also offering to keep any valuables in their safe for free. Definitely recommend

Great hostel and very informative staff. Every single person was willing to help and full of local to-do's. I don't think there was a single question that they could not answer. The hostel is very well kept and you can tell that they do whatever they can to make your stay enjoyable and accommodating. I worn you...the shower is smmmallllll...but your'e in a hostel not a hotel. They have daily activities for its guest as a way to unite everyone and establish some friendships while staying there.

Astor is the best hostel I have ever stayed at. :) The staff and the guests staying long term are absolutely wonderful, kind and friendly. :) There's a strong sense of community and a homely vibe that most hostels lack. :)

I only spent time in the common room, but it was lovely - wood-paneled, leather sofas and armchairs, tasteful decoration, a bookshelf, plus a protector and screen for movie nights. Hopefully the rest of the facility is similarly nice!

It is very close to Imperial College London, where the conference that I was attending was held. It got reasonable price, especially at the heart of Kensington, close to major subway station, steps away from the Hyde Park and many other place of interest. Good environment, nice people, good accommodations, chances to talk to young people from all over the world. Definitely recommend if you want to stay for few days and want to explore London!

Nice hostel, it's located at less than 100 metres from Hyde park and to 500 metres from the natural history museum. It is situated in a quite zone. The closest tube station is Gloucester road (700 metres away). There are some bars nearby and the Royal albert Hall is very close to the hostel. Few blocks from it you can hire a santander cycle and go around.
