Reviews of Batty Langley's Hotel

This is undoubtedly a stunning hotel with an excellent location. We stayed over the weekend and it was nice and quiet and the staff was absolutely amazing. I would happily give it a 5-star rating, however, the bath/shower drain in our room didn't work. Couldn't be fully closed or opened. As the bathroom with the bath is such a huge (master)piece in the room this was quite a disappointment to not have a fully functional bath/shower. The member of the staff who came to check it was very friendly and he tried his best but without plumber there wasn't much he could do.
It really is a first world problem and we managed to enjoy our stay. I even understand that over the weekend there is not much they can do to fix the problem. But, that said, from the hotel of this quality I would expect at least to hear some 'sorry' at the end of our stay.

Myself and my partner spent four nights at Batty Langley's whilst on a site seeing visit to London and we was so pleased that we chose this fantastic hotel. It is absolutely faultless. The whole building is decorated to a highly tasteful standard throughout and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a very safe place due to it's door entry and camera system. Liverpool Street train and tube stations are just over a 5 minute walk away which is great for traveling around the city.
Many thanks for a great stay 😀

I stayed in the Earl of Bolingbroke with my husband for our honeymoon and it was an amazing. We stayed for two nights but could have stayed longer. It feels like home! The room is luxurious, confortable and beautiful. The only downside was the world that was going around the hotel and were really noisy. Thankfully the walls are thick so you don’t hear everything but it is a bit disappointed. I know it’s not the fault of the hotel but I want to wait for the works to finish before going back.

A truly wonderful, quaint, small hotel with loads of style, charm and charisma. The staff here treat you so well you'd think you were royalty. The highest of recommendations for Batty's.

This is an absolutely lovely hotel. It is perfect for a few days in London. Public rooms are exquisitely decorated and furnished, grown up antiques everywhere and good paintings. The rooms are equally excellent, really I cannot fault it, it suited our taste perfectly. Staff are genuinely friendly and helpful and made our stay even more memorable. It is very convenient being only 5 minutes from Liverpool Street station. We ate out, but breakfast was available if wanted. We shall certainly use it again, a real boutique hotel for the discerning!

We have had a magical stay at this beautiful hotel. All the staff - especially James were professional and incredibly friendly. Highly recommended.

What a lovely hotel! Every room is different. Very well located. Great service. Nothing to fault!

What an absolutely wonderful stay! Could not fault anything at all. Staff were welcoming and utterly professional, decor exquisite, an absolute gem in the centre of London!

Incredible hotel in the heart of London! We visited for a long weekend during the height of England’s footballing glory at Euro 2020, so a real buzz around the city from excited football fans.
The hotel offers a real oasis within the capital’s hustle and bustle. Sumptuous fabrics, atmospheric interior design and thoughtful, helpful staff give this hotel a real sense of luxury.
We booked, on this occasion, through Mr & Mrs Smith due to having vouchers, however would have no hesitation in booking direct. Nearest tube is Liverpool Street Station, plenty of bars and restaurants to keep you busy!
P. S.
What a hotel. Beautiful. Stunning period room. Great service. Everything you could want in a hotel. But remember, no restaurant or bar. A bar would be nice, but you can easily eat locally in the absence of a restaurant.

Came here for one night away as a belated celebration. We live in London but with covid fancied a weekend treat in the city that we love, we weren't disappointed! The hotel is gorgeous and the service is wonderful, the room was everything we'd hoped for and the bed was a very welcome friend at the end of the evening! The bathroom was gorgeous and we took advantage of the free standing bath for a good few hours to relax. We also enjoyed a drink in the parlour before we went out for the evening and loved the attention to detail in our surroundings. Thank you for a lovely time!

What an absolutely perfect hotel. Decadent, luxurious and delightful. The service was out of this world!. We stayed for three nights and intend to visit again soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!.

We had an amazing stay here. Beautiful room, great location and absolutely lovely staff!

One of the most beautifully eccentric London hotels. Breakfast is an experience, as is everything else from start to finish.

Stunning hotel and the members of staff are very helpful and nice. Enjoyed my stay there!

Absolutely love this hotel. The attention to detail really transports you to another time. Clean and safe. A quick walk to the subway with many great breakfast spots in the area. Can’t wait to visit again!

The staff, the staff, the staff. On our visit to London my wife unfortunately experienced a health emergency and the staff of this hotel were so helpful, so attentive, and extremely understanding. They took what could have been a disaster of a visit into an extremely rewarding adventure. What more can you ask for in a hotel except comfortable accommodations and attentive professional staff, Batty Langley had both in spades.

I’m not usually a hotel person but this was wonderful. We travelled from South West London for dinner nearby and to spend the night at Betty Langley’s before London was put into Tier 4. Wonderful welcoming staff. Covid secure. Fantastic rooms and the best shower we’ve ever had. Will definitely be back when we can. Breakfast delivered to our room was totally delicious.

A really lovely hotel with the best customer service. The staff were so attentive. One of the best London has to offer. Many thanks for a lovely stay

Excellent customer service! I booked this for my father's 60th surprise birthday gift.
J-J and Adem were fantastic, accommodated my needs when booking and communicated with me consistently prior to the booking.
I am disappointed I am not going.
Couldn't recommend enough.
Thank you for making this experience so special to us!

Just spent 2 nights in this hotel. Felt like we were staying in an Elegant house! Comfortable bed, staff very attentive, you will find it hard to beat
D. S.
Lovely hotel with really attentive staff and good COVID measures. Would definitely recommend to overseas tourists as it’s classic ye olde England vibe!
Taking a star off because we booked breakfast delivered to our room for 9am but they arrived at 7:30am - a rude awakening! Breakfast was delicious though

Absolutely love this hotel. We stayed one night for our 5 year anniversary and the atmosphere is just fab, you feel like you are in another era but with all the mod cons. We were upgraded to the Batty Langley room which has a 4-poster bed and an amazing terrace. Very surprised by how big the room was by London’s standards and especially given the great location. So much attention to detail, some great common spaces and an honesty bar to boot. Stay here, you will not regret it!

In love. Rooms were so beautiful...vintage rustic luxury feel. Everything is so we'll put together in terms of design. The location is perfect, a sneaky back street near key facilities and tube lines. The staff were lovely which made my stay all the more lovely .
A. G.
Sensationally comfortable bed. The hotel is wonderful. Right around the corner from Spitalfields market and Liverpool Street Station the location is great for exploring all of London, all that without being noisy. Staff was wonderful, very attentive without being too keen.
The room felt like something from another era with easily the most comfortable bed (and stunning linen) in London we’ve ever slept in.
We will definitely stay there again. Thanks!!!

We arrived to what I suspect is one of the best welcomes I've ever received coming to a hotel. The two staff on the front were exceptionally friendly and funny. We then received a detailed tour by one of the staff. The hotel and the room are absolutely lovely. The room itself was lovely and chilly, just right after a long day walking in the sun. The room, while small, was beautifully presented. There is a definite wide mismash of periods and styles to the design of the room, but it all worked, and worked well. There is always a danger with this type of interior design for a room to become almost Disney-esque. This missed that by a country mile, thank God. And, a minor point, the finish of all the details was perfect. Very rare. Props to the builders! The bar was nicely stocked to cater for all tastes too.
My only slight issue was with the deposit. We were informed, very nicely and patiently I may add, that there would be a £50 deposit. That was fine. When I was presented the cash machine however, the total came to roughly the cost of our room plus £50 each, according to my quick mental calculations on the spot. I figured that was fine too, as I thought the deposits would just be returned. When leaving, the nice gentleman on the desk asked if it was okay to take what was due from my card. I didn't really register that and said fine, and then noticed later that the cost of my room had been taken from my bank again.
I did contact the hotel and they said that the first withdrawal would be returned within seven days, and sure enough, six days later it was back in my bank.
So, in summary, a must visit, a lovely experience, hospitality done absolutely right. I will be back (just as soon as I have a spare €550 again in my account to spend a night there. 😁)

Had an great stay at this hotel. From my initial enquiry to check out the staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and accomodating. The hotel itself was comfortable and luxurious. If anyone was planning a London getaway or a quiet place to celebrate something I would highly recommend.

This is most definately one of the best hotels in London! There's perfection in even the smallest detail. The staff are great, the service is excellent, the vibe is chilled, and the rooms are top quality! Zero complaints.

An amazing hotel steeped in history.it resides in the 1724 Langley household which sits atop the old St Mary medieval hospital. The staff are friendly, the rooms are superb and the facilities are plenty. Fantastic stay, would love to return again.

Brilliant hotel
Fantastic service from staff that couldn't do enough to enhance the enjoyment of our stay
Thank you so much

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to London if you want a little slice of history to stay at period the people were amazing and friendly and help there's any time we had questions or needs. Centrally located right downtown easy to get to everything period

Wow what an amazing hotel, for a special get away will be amazing

Everything was fantastic - service was efficient and polite, the room was extremely well decorated and had all the mod cons, and the location is perfect if arriving into Liverpool street station as we did. Close to spittalfield market and brick lane, which are great for strolling around! All in all a wonderful stay!

This place is perfect. Amazing rooms (all 18th Century), including a library etc. Good value for money, great service (I was greeted and really looked after), comfortable beds and good location for the City. Wouldn't hesitate to go back
A. G.
Stayed for our first wedding anniversary and were allowed an early check in without any problem. This what luxury should be like. All the decor and details are consistent with the original dating of the building in the early XVIII century yet the comfort and service are up to and better than any modern standard you'll find in a regular 5star hotel. Amazingly positioned just minutes away from Liverpool Street station and the hip.side of Shoreditch with Old Spitalfields market and Brick Lane literally around the corner.
A. G.
This little hotel is gorgeous and a great place to stay. It is near a tube station and the main desk will even hold your room key for you while you are out. I would deffenitly come stay here again anytime.
R. M.
Easily the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. Lovely room. Genuine & friendly staff. A delightful experience. Well done.
F. W.
Room is small but cozy. I guess the price I paid is mostly for the history, culture and decoration. The hotel is within walking distance to the Liverpool train station.
D. W.
Very nice hotel that is a little quirky! Staff were great and very friendly and helpful. There is no restaurant and room service is a little limited but there are plenty of places in the area to eat.
B. E.
Beautiful hotel. Beautiful rooms. Brilliant staff. Disappointed that the overpriced breakfast wasn't included. But overall fantastic. Lovely area around hotel. Great shops.
E. J. W.
An amazing hotel, feels like staying in someone's house. No restaurant or bar but a drawing room where you can pour yourself a drink (and pay at checkout) and a library to read in. Great service too.
R. G.
This hotel is so unique....especially for london! The team are amazing and the honesty bar is so unique. Will be heading back soon!
R. B.
Good if you like the area. I thought it would be a bit more lively in the evenings in the area but most shops close by 6p. Hotel is charming buy my room would be too small for 2.
K. S.
Very nice hotel. Quiet. Incredible attention to detail to recall a period in time and bring it to you. Will stay again.
J. V.
Amazing and unique hotel, very well placed in the centre of London! Would most definitely recommend to anyone.

This is a Great hotel situated just off Folgate St next door to Dennis Severs house. The hotel is decorated in a lovely Georgian style with Amazing bathrooms with equally lovely Showers reconstructed with vintage copper piping and marble. The beds are very sumptuous with some even being four poster.the staff are warm and welcoming and the Buck's Fizz breakfast was very nice.

Classical hotel of the highest standards. Staff friendly and a good location for exploring. Will stay again for sure.
J. M. F.
To put it simple. This is my new go to hotel in London. Skip the Hiltons, Marriotts and the like and book a room here.
J. C.
Good location, cool rooms but walls are paper thin and place is a bit dark
P. Z.
Classic English building and decoration. A shirt walk from Liverpool Street and Finsbury Square as well as Brick Lane and Shoreditch makes it a good choice for business and socialising in the area.
P. M.
Beautiful hotel with incredible rooms. Staff are friendly and the amenities are top notch.
L. J.
Lovely hotel, comfortable and friendly. Loved the period features. Highly recommended

(Translated) The reception, cleaning and serving staff were all friendly and helpful. There are advantages that large hotels do not have.
The guest rooms of the hotel are classic and have a goodness that cannot be experienced in Japan. Since room meals are the norm, we recommend a larger room than the Superior Double Room.
There are few amenities provided, but slippers will be brought to you.
The Bakers Basket I ordered for breakfast was very delicious! Perhaps because there is no restaurant in the hotel, it was different from the breakfast menu that is often found in general tourist hotels, which was also good.

(Translated) Building, interior, before the street have all exudes a classic atmosphere, the more the illusion that time slip in the old days, Amazing. Interior of the room is gorgeous, but it seems that elaborate have different all by room. Breakfast is delicious best and paint the butter and brown sauce on freshly baked bread from room service. Musical tickets will be taken to book at the hotel, correspondence is now kind and very indebted.

(Translated) Simply magical and all around "very British". Very nice, courteous staff and a completely private atmosphere. You feel very fast at home and not as a hotel guest. One time I find the "room of trust" -the fireplace room with bar for self-service. Here you can always mix your own cocktails, wines and other drinks and bring them in a list. That's what I call true trust !!
The rooms are a lovely force. Very sensitive and original. We were touched how nicely the rooms were decorated and split.

Einfach zauberhaft und rundum "very british".

(Translated) Close to Liverpool Street station, in the Spitalfields area, it has very VERY thematic rooms, and expectations are not disappointed once you arrive here.
High degree of cleanliness, you can sleep peacefully.
The service so far has been flawless.
Super recommended!

Super consigliato!

(Translated) Everything is perfect! Comfortable bed. Breakfast in bed with freshly squeezed orange juice and warm bread and pastries. Very quiet, no noise at all! The city centre of London is a bit far but not really a problem.
