Great value hotel. The bar was relatively cheap (£4.30 a pint) and I’d highly recommend the bruschetta if you’re ordering food. People seem to complain about the decor, but I enjoyed it - it was like stepping back in time. A nostalgic, well managed hotel. Room temperature was good - well air conditioned - and the bathroom was clean with fresh towels. The room had a flat screen tv too. The only issue was the noise of the air conditioning unit at night. Will stay again.

Situated in a very good location. Better access to all the stores ,station and mall.
Value for money. Bar opens till 11pm. But definitely the sitting area has a wonderful view.
Excellent for business meeting as well.

If you are looking for somewhere cheap to stay in Canary wharf, perfect place. I had the standard double room, with windows, which was a nice room, standard ensuite bathroom, not bad. The bed wasn't great as it literally had the springs poking out of it. Breakfast was average, cheap bacon and cheap sausages I'm affraid. The reception staff need some training as although there were 4 of them checking people in they just didn't seem to step up the pace or be concerned about the que snaking around reception. I had a long wait to be checked in... this place is great for a one night stay but I don't think I would want to stay here much longer than that.

We stayed Christmas night, very good price £60 for a double room, a little old fashioned but it has everything we needed.
The view from our window ( which you pay extra for) wasn't great, just more very high buildings very close to us, so we couldn't see anything, but the price made up for that.

A quirky hotel that could do with a bit of modernising behind the scenes. Internet was expensive and rarely worked properly, even though the DL/UL speed showed as 80Mbps. There wasn't much to choose from on the food menu as the main restaurant was closed. The air conditioning/fan unit gurgles all night, and you can hear constant traffic out the window - you get a window by paying extra to see a tower block outside. Staff are friendly and courteous.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very reasonable cost for the area. Minor point, when we were looking for Britannia International Hotel we could only see International Hotel. We drove past the first time.

Good value for money hotel. Spotless. Beautiful food. Bedroom lovely perhaps slightly dated. Public rooms fabulous
J. P.
The price is low/night therefore I guess you-get-what you-pay-for.
The mattress was so hard, it was like laying on a board; the wardrobe and the bathroom door did not shut; the sockets near the head if the bed use circular plug-pins, the dust between the wooden headboard was at least 1cm in depth. The breakfast was bog-standard. On the plus side, the staff are very polite, friendly and professional and a nice location.

My daughter and I stayed at the International Hotel Marsh Wall. I can honestly say that Prakash and his team provided a service second to none from the reception to the cleaning team. Nothing was ever any trouble. I would highly recommend this Hotel

I rarely leave review but this hotel should really train their restaurant staffs again.
I was checking emails and having breakfast as a habit and be told I should stop using my laptop and focus on eating because “there are 200 people waiting in lines for my seat”. so I put my laptop away while trying to finish my breakfast, 15 minutes later another staff came and tried to clean all my plates while I was still eating! That time I noticed there were lots of empty tables so I felt a bit weird. But they are right about the part that “so many people waiting” though. When I came out there are 8 people waiting in line trying to come inside but no one waited there to let them in. Insides, full of empty tables and staffs keep busy on cleaning! It was 8.30am when I left ( they closed breakfast at 10am) so I don’t quite get the logic of operations here. Customer outside waiting and customer inside forced to leave uncomfortably despite so many empty tables around in the middle of morning.
This is a hotel restaurant, a business, customers pay to stay and eat here. They should not feel less welcomed than a charity event giving food away for homeless people. I have stayed many places from a cheap hostel to 5 stars hotel, the experience in this hotel restaurant is probably the worst experience of all times. Chaotic, hostile and unprofessional.
Afterall, I still decide to give 5 stars for their reception and room service staffs and hope the hotel will continue on improving the part that particularly affects the standard and reduces overall quality of their service that they all worked hard to achieve lately.

Do not visit the bar prices are extortionate, £19.50 for two glasses of wine. Do not take any room ending in 17, they back on to the lift shift which bang and crash all night .Showers are good.

Been here before the lockdown and it's had a lot of work done since then, room was clean tidy and warm, reception were very helpful and friendly
I. A.
Decent hotel. Everything was an optional extra (WiFi, late checkout). Finishing & furnishings (bathroom, desk etc) were passable as clean but old. Check in was horrible, starts at 4 and you have every guest lined up. I saw the queue was still there at 9PM!
M. H.
Excellent pricing. Top location, close to Canary Wharf. Slightly dated rooms. But facilities are reasonable. Clean and comfortable.

I think her name was Syl.
Whoever was on the front desk at 1pm on 10/01/22, you were super helpful.
Y. K. S.
Lovely front reception staff ! Felt very welcome once we arrived , not sure of his name, but the guy at the reception upgraded us to a river view ; which was so kind and generous of him. The hotel is very antique and traditional, very different from other hotels. I highly recommend staying here, we had a lovely stay in this Hotel. Thank you!

In the banking capital of London, rooms were well equipped with everything from shower gel to a trouser press. Staff were pleasant at the front desk and nice views from the bar area and rooms, however slightly dated but it’s different from every other carbon copy of every other hotel.

This hotel and its staff are amazing. Amar and his team in frontdesk have always been superb and very accommodating i recommend this hotel to everyone. A bit antique but thats its charm.

Stayed here numerous times, yes the hotel is looking tired, but it's a budget hotel and you won't get better for the same money in London. I think people need to be a little more realistic when giving their views. The hotel ticks all the boxes where it counts. I have paid plenty more over the years for much much less! If your on a budget this will do you fine, if your after the top luxury hotel experience, well I think you need to expect to pay double what you will be paying here.

Very old fashioned, needs urgently to be modernized. However, we slept well in a clean room with modern shower. Service was friendly. Fine to stay for a few days without high expectations.
B. 4.
Its fine, though impersonal. Decor needs an update
Restaurants' cuisine just as you would expect at a hotel.

The whole place is very 70's. Though the room was very dated it was clean and quiet, hence the 3 stars. The buffet was dreadful, long queues and mediocre food, tomato soup, turkey and black forest gateaux. Good job I wasn't vegetarian as the option was overcooked penne. Staff try their best but the queues are crazy for the bar and you only know you can't get a drink in the restaurant until you've got your food. Would probably stay again, even in the dated rooms, but dive elsewhere.
M. D.
Fair price, spacious room, but the ventilation system is really stupid. Here you have to ask staff to come up and close/open the window. It's annoying for everyone involved, but the thermostat/fan regulator does nothing. So it's okay for a short stay or tourism but would advise against spending lots of time in the room itself. Also, there's the expensive Virgin WiFi in the rooms and no slippers.
I. m.
Nice environment, I liked the vintage style, but the restaurants' food could be much better.
C. G.
Would recommend. Nice place in a great location in canary wharf
A. A.
Nice hotel good location but it's looks a bit tired a good luck of paint and just a quick update of the rooms would be nice.
J. B.
Cleanliness is outstanding. They are so concerned about their cleanliness the maid totally disregarded the fact I was start fished on the bed with my bits out and started to clean. 10stars
N. S.
Not the best hotel we've stayed in, but it is good for the money in that area. Slightly worn and dated, but everything was clean and comfortable.
A. C.
Old and dated but still somewhat charming. One of the few hotels i know still to have smoking rooms. My room was clean and fresh. Terrible queue to check-in despite it being 10pm!
V. O.

Good hotel although room a little dated ..prompt check in but really long q a couple of hours later .
Breakfast was good everything we needed ..would use again.

Nice hotel with large rooms, although could do with a bit of an update. Lounge areas were nice, food ok, but limited but tasted good.
B. 4.

Excellent venue for law conferences, spa jacuzzi bath in room, wining and dining, sleeping and full English breakfast the next morning. Canary Wharf station nine minutes walk away.
I. W.
Poor check in, took twenty minutes to get served. Room was warm and clean but tired, pretty much like the hotel - I need of investment good location though
v. m.
I ' ve given this hotel a 5 star review as 2 members of staff were absolutely brilliant their names are Silvia and Vasi ,they were really helpful and prompt in helping us after we were given firstly a room that smelled heavily as tabacco ,the hotel itself needs a lot of refurbishment and update in services but people like the this 2 girls are making a huge difference in services .Well done Silvia and Vasi !
L. B.
The staff have raised this rating to 3 stars as they were friendly and gave good customer service. I stayed here for 2 weeks for work and it was ok for sleep work and repeat. Its a bit tired and some touching up and new windows to make the most of the view would make a big difference. I had a good size room with a nice marble bathroom. Ok if you want to stay in London as Canary Wharf is impressive to be in and the connection into West End are great.
S. S.
It was a very nice hotel but I found there resterant not very good for evening meals

The room was ok, although it was old. But the temperature was low, the air-conditioning didn't work very well.

Good location (close to canary wharf). Decor a little tired, room stank of stale tobacco, cheap weekend deal though

Price vs. Quality was to notch. I'll definitely keep an eye on this hotel whenever I'm going to work in London.

Very nice hotel with amazing view
Y. C.
Good location, rooms are clean, staff are attentive and helpful. Good value for money given the location.
I. m.
Nice environment, I liked the vintage style, but the restaurants' food could be much better.

Decent hotel, staff are professional and friendly however the problem is some of the people that stay here who are not so well behaved but i guess you get that in every hotel
C. C.
Although it is old , the services provide is still fine, especially the cleaners here always do their best and ready to help.

This hotel, although dated, is great value when all you need is a clean, comfortable bed at a decent price for London. We requested a room with 3 single beds. We were allocated a room on the 5th floor (non smoking), which had a dressing table and chair and another small table with 2 chairs. The tv was on the wall. There was a hairdryer in a drawer and an iron and ironing board in the large wardrobe. The pillows were extremely comfortable. There were miniature toiletries in the bathroom. The breakfast, if you go down early enough, is adequate with hot and cold choices. There are enough foods to suit everyone’s taste and the staff are attentive. Please note the room was not serviced while we were there due to Covid regulations so we had to ask at reception for clean towels and toilet roll which were given without hesitation from the pleasant staff. There are black bags placed throughout the hotel, alerting you take one for any rubbish you may have, that can be left outside your room door for collection. There is a pizzeria restaurant onsite, which was empty as people were ordering their food to takeaway. Canary Wharf tube station (Jubilee line) is less than 10 minutes walk and is only one stop away from the 02 where the Emirates Cable Cars are. This is a must and very reasonably priced. I preferred this attraction to the London Eye.
Cons: Be aware the swimming pool and gym have been closed for over 2 years now, even though it still shows on some internet sites as if it is there. The net curtains in the room could do with a clean as well as the outside of the windows.

The receptionist ambia was extremely helpful, he made sure we had good service. Only helpless staff here

I was coming to this hotel and I was welcome by Syl,she was very friendly and she was giving me excelent service I would definetely come again to this hotel
T. D.
Hotel is a bit old and undermaintained, but has a very unique vibe and very friendly room prices. You get what you pay for, generally speaking enjoyed my stay here quite a bit.
Exquisite reception service by Alina very pleased. Thank you

Good place at a nice location! Why not 5 starts? I tried to called them thousand times before get there but no one's answer the phone

I stayed more than 3 day's,no proper cleaning for room on second day i request room. They replied because of covid no room service
N.
I cannot give enough stars here for the staff and services. We had to move into the hotel late at night, in the middle of Covid restrictions due to personal reasons, and the stay was more than comfortable. Due to the regulations, the staff wasn't allowed to enter the room to clean or change bedsheets, but we were very warmly given the option to change rooms if that helped us. We were given the room on the ground floor, with a very pretty balcony opening up to the river stream. The building is old and hence has an old-world charm.. but the rooms are well kept and staff is very humble. There's a Tesco at 3 mins walking distance, and some really nice cafes and restaurants in the vicinity. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience here :)
S. P.
Good location great price stayed here many times in the last 20 years
M. D.
Cheap, clean and well eighties. Perfect for a night at printworks. Will use again

Tolyat Mert was very polite and helpful and ensured i had a swift check in and a good experience would highly recommend purely for the service I received.

I tell you so that taking into account Where is this hotel It could be better that the hotel looks chicly expensive when you start to go deeper, you understand that the hotel needs redecorating both inside and out and old furniture old carpets make themselves felt as odors are everywhere there are Also it seemed to me strange that in such a room that I rented was very poor, I mean there was not even an elementary perfume that could be used which was in the photographs in the photograph, one thing in fact is completely different when you walk around the city along those streets along which you need to get to the station, it turns out that it’s not so simple, there’s not even elementary lighting, that is, in fact, many people walk in the dark, this is where anything can happen and I didn’t think it’s safe either. Almost everywhere my cannabis stink and maybe Everywhere I went
J. R.
Good value for money although decor in the room was very dated, peeling wallpaper in some places.
However overall very central, and handy for Canary wharf and the entrance foyer was quite lovely. Shame the pool etc was closed for lockdown restrictions
F. B.
I've stayed here a few times now as it's just a short walk from the work office. The reception and bar areas are quite nice. The rooms are a bit of a mixed bag, I've had three different styled ones ranging from a tiny twin room to a great big twin room with stairs in it. Seems to be pot luck which one you get. Comfortable enough beds, though they seem rather narrow. I always find the rooms too hot but they do have ac which cools it a bit
K. P.
One of the best hotels ive ever been to
C. T.
Very clean, bit dated. Nice breakfast
S. D.
This hotel is very quirky and victorian theme with a hint of modern design.
The reception area is large and stairways very wide.
Clean I would say overall.
The room was large a lot of storage area and had a desk bedside cabinet etc.
The mattress and bed were comfy even though if was two single mattresses to make it a double. A bit cheeky of the hotel they should just invest in a double mattress and make it a memorable stay for their guests.
Bathroom was spacious and had liquid and gels and soaps provided.
Parking underground and was pricey to be hones. Better to park somwhere local and walk to the hotel as it woyld be the cheaper option.
I would stay here again.

Great hotel and good location. Amazing rooms!!
S. M.
Nice clean rooms . Food really nice , good choices
K. A. P.
Excellent hotel. Comfy beds (twin room for me n my friend) pristine sheets, lovely shower. Excellent desk staff. The only way you could improve is to add a few more teabags & mini cartons of milk as most people drink more than 2 cups of tea in a 24/26 hour stay. Other than that, this hotel was perfection & I would highly recommend it
G.
Really good value for money, it's a shame they are no longer operating the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi, I don't know if it'll be permanent or not.
Furniture throughout the hotel is top notch, high quality marble in the bathroom and hallways, rooms are spacious and you won't get that much space or 4-star quality anywhere else in London for 52£.
Also, if you show up early and they have rooms, they will ask for a 20£ fee for early check-ins. I arrived at around 12:00.
M.
I have no complaints, but obviously one size doesn't fit all,
Booked as a package holiday, room was a decent size, bed was comfortable with crisp white sheets, nice views from the window.
Meals were all you can eat buffet style, a good amount of choices and delicious.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
A. G.
Nice place, nice staff, Syl the lady from reception, was helpful and well mannered!
Y. I.
Great location, good clean room, comfortable bed. Very friendly staff.

Britannia hotel is quite nice. They should renovate it because it looks old if check the details. But the stuff is friendly and kind and the superior room are nice and clean. I loved the view from my room and from the lounge. It is very close to the tube which is new and clean, you can easily go everywhere from there . The Area around the hotel is also amazing very clean, all new building.
J. M.
The reviews we read about this hotel online were so negative that our expectations were low. We were very pleasantly surprised. We booked for 1 night, last minute at a discounted rate. The reception staff were professional, the decor was fine. There was an elevator. It was very quiet, no noise from other rooms or outside. Our room was windowless (expected), but surprisingly big! The bathroom was modern, with all the usual free toiletries to use. Everything was clean. The only 2 negatives were that the double bed was 2 singles pushed together and no fridge in the room.
A.
Easy check-in. Clean, generously sized room with big bathroom. Good location in a touristy area. Was very happy with this hotel.
The only negative l could mention is that there is no free WiFi in the room.
J. H.
Brilliant staff a special thanks to syl. A credit to the company. Her charm and total commitment to the care of the customers was extremely exceptional. The only downside to the hotel was the mattresses!! Definitely due new ones. Food was hot and varied. Staff friendly. Rooms clean. Our 3rd stay. And won't be our last.
C. R.
It's difficult for me to rate this hotel past 3 stars. The beds and bathroom were clean and the staff were nice. Unfortunately, we had a mixup with rooms where we were given keys to a room that was already in use... The room decor is also extremely dated and bizarrely we had housekeeping knock on the door at 08:30 one morning! The breakfast wasn't bad but could be better. All in all, I'd come back if it was affordable and was for no longer than one night.
A. M.
The building is very old but reasonably clean. The rooms are spacious yet overused. The location is beautiful and brilliant. No free internet, you must pay £7 a day per device.
S. M.
Old hotel in a very modern area. The rooms are a nice size but do need a refresh. The bed is OK and could have a better mattress, but the bathroom is really great.
There is no free wifi like other hotels and you have to pay for access every 24hrs. Mobile signal is bad here but this may just be a Canary Wharf issue as it is way better in the mornings compared with evenings. Not a bad place for the price but don't come with high expectations.
S. “. K.
Room was nice clean and cozy. Needs updating though 100%. Food (Brekkie and Dinner) were not the best. Put me off hashbrowns and mushrooms for a bit. Sad the swimming pool wasn't in operation at the time.
D. H.
Great hotel good prices not to far from city centre
R. D.
Really beautiful medieval hotel. The staff was really helpful. We enjoyed our stay in an en-suite room on our anniversary. The room was really clean and had a good view and bath quite relaxing. Even got a view of the quay while dining.
N. T.
The hotel was good value for money considering it’s London. I paid £288 for four nights which is pretty good. I ordered room service which took about an hour to come (this was stated on the menu), the food was good and not too expensive, there was a charge for the tray though which I found odd, this charge was £3 or £5 and non-refundable. I had a single room which a private bathroom. It was a good size for myself and the bed was comfy. It was a shame I was right next to the elevator so I stayed up most nights! If my room was somewhere else I’m sure I would of slept better. I enjoyed my stay here.
P. R.
Coming from contemporary background, noticed room was old Victorian style and did not like the ambience of it. Also the bathroom was bit old and all the taps including wash basin, tub were old and had lot of wear, the hotel room definitely requires urgent upgrades
C. H.
No big deal but then again it's not supposed to be. Rooms are warm, comfortable and clean.
Breakfast is good but food in the pizza restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. Check your bill BEFORE paying. A bottle of water magically appeared on mine.
A. G.
We stayed as part of a coach trip to London for 1 night. The hotel is outdated but this wasn't an issue as it was only for sleeping in. The room was clean and bed was comfortable enough for a night.
We had tea and breakfast included as part of our trip we went elsewhere for tea however breakfast was just okay, nothing special just your typical hotel meal. Set us up for the day though and left happily to explore London.
J. N.
The room was nice and clean. If you go first time the long running corridors with the ancient miniature warriors give you a spooky feeling. On the negative side the service is tardy. You might end up without room service one of the days. Plus they take a long time to respond. 4 stars are for the hotel and it's location
S.
The entrance looks really nice. It is a reasonable price in comparison to the other hotels in the area, really nice location, about 8 minute walk to the tube. However, the room was a little small and there was two beds pushed together which was disappointing as we had booked a double room. Staff was friendly and happy to help. Would definitely visit again.
Š. V. (.
Very good value for money - got an excellent room upgrade and breakfast for an extra £10. The 11th floor room had a nice view and, interestingly there was a metal winding staircase from the hallway to the main room. All seems to be clean, but slightly worn and dated - obviously this is not the hotel to stay if you like modern chick high tech settings. Location is very convenient for short stays, but at the time of writing it was difficult to find the hotel (or navigate around it) to do with seemingly never ending construction work around the area.
Not a fan of their pizzas either. Breakfast was very basic and minimal . Terrible coffee - just a muddy water from the machine. I suggest you'd skip it.
Overall good value for money to sleep for a night or two convenient to the Wharf location.
F. “. H.
Fantastic hotel. Basic but has everything u need.
R.
Nice grand looking old fashioned hotel, they seem to have some smoking rooms from the smell on some of the floors. One of the receptionists is very rude but seemed to be okay. If you're looking for quality service, probably better to stay at one of the other hotels around.
B. S.
Very dated to be honest. Room was OK but not special considering we had a suit. We could hear the DLR clearly throughout the entire evening. Staff were very good though and a nice atmosphere in the bar area.
M.
Very mixed opinion of the hotel unfortunately but it was adequate. Fortunately I'd booked early and the rate was reasonable.
On the plus side the staff were friendly and the breakfast good. The suite we stayed in had great views over the wharf and was clean and comfortable. The location is close to all the bars and shops and close to the DLR. Quiet and easy to get around.
The downside though is this hotel has seen better days. I am sure in the past this was a luxury hotel but no longer. It is in need of refurbishment with faulty lifts, dated and damaged decor and the common areas in need of a good deep clean.
R. B.
I imagine once upon a time this was a really high end hotel and is still quite nice, however it could really do with a touch up at some point. The furniture has seen better days ( the sofa had a big rip in it) and the room smelled heavily of cigarettes when we went in. The bath definitely needed some work on it BUT the room was absolutely massive and for the price we really couldn't complain too much. It has its downfalls but it's still nice.
S. K.
Nice hotel with old school feel to it. Fairly cheap price for the room and the drinks were a fair price for the location. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only negative is that the plug sockets were next to the bed either side but the dressing table should of had a plug socket behind it for ease when drying/straightening hair. But I enjoyed my stay.
L. a. B. (.
The rooms were spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful on the whole. The breakfast was one of the best we have had. Traditional English breakfast, buffet style but there were also many options for the international visitors. There are several bars and eating options within the hotel. We tried all the bars and the Indian restaurant. The location is excellent. Close to the train station and a short walk to the river bus. The pool, gym and spa looked clean and inviting. If only we had remembered our costumes! The hotel is like a favourite old aunt. A little old fashioned and eccentric but tries to make the most of what's there. There are some wonderful touches throughout, the boat on the ceiling of the dining area, beautiful statues by the lifts, lovely ornaments everywhere. Everything we need for our weekend was provided. If you want ultra modern, this is not the hotel for you. We like traditional and loved it here. My only negative really is that the windows really need a clean on the outside. We will definitely return though.
D. P.
Great hotel. Great location. Its 5min walk from 3 different stations. Stayed in the executive double bed room and it was clean and spacious with a really good view. Only thing i didn't like was that the shower was very low pressure and its difficult to dial in the temp you want. That took 1 star away from the rating.
N. G.
I have stayed here twice in 5 years and I’m going to return in July 2018. It’s a great hotel with such character the beds are really comfy. The rooms feel homely and clean, The style is of a time gone by. I like that.. The bathrooms and baths are really nice. It’s just a Home from Home to me. You feel safe of a night time. The lifts are safe. The rooms are cleaned daily. The food and drinks are great. The service from staff in impeccable. Britannia Hotel is one I’ll use again and again as I return to London..
C. G.
Would recommend. Nice place in a great location in canary wharf
K. S.
Yes, it's a little shabby around the edges and harks back a few decades in decor and layout. However, the staff are nice, checkin and checkout is painless and the location and price are great for canary wharf. The room was clean and the bathroom seemed to have been renewed not too long ago, shower pressure was fine in the morning. Breakfast was standard, nothing special, but not bad either. I'll be staying again.
S. C.
Good price for being in London. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and fresh yes a little dated but we liked that. Only issue our bed on one side was broken with the spring popping through. We had the tenth floor and yes some construction but the hotel never hid that, it is London after all. Yes you have to pay for parking but again it is London, the car is kept safe and you can feel assured no extra tickets. Thank you for our stay
z.
The Hotel views on our side of my room are ok and are of the docks but the maintenance of the the rooms is quite dismal as the furniture and walls are scratched but some of the staff are nice although there are not many for the size of the hotel and breakfast is sometimes cold even when you get usually hot food like bacon and it can be slow to get served and although on some websites and google maps they say this hotel does have a pool or room service it doesn't that I have noticed (Could both be shut due to covid therefore not shown or advertised in the hotel)
K. B.
Good hotel. Beautiful decor, breakfast was good, lots to choose from. Although beds not at all comfortable. Springs digging in most of the night so had a very poor nights sleep! But staff very helpful. Also you sign into free WiFi but it doesn't work effectively!
S. B.
Lovely stay. I always have a wonderful stay . All staff are professional especially Vasi who is always kind.
Thank you
N. S.
Staff were so friendly, especially front desk. Stayed here for three separate bookings in total now and I haven't had a real problem. Great views from the window rooms. Cheap prices and well worth it considering the location. Great little cafe within a minute's walk too (Neama)
I. B.
The place was nice and cozy. They offered an upgrade but at a cost. The room was clean but was a bit gloomy. The bathroom finishing didn't seem 4* to be really honest. Will probably come back if I need to stay in the area. Can do better!

Stayed here last minute and didn't expect much for £60, however for the price was pleasantly surprised. Staff were friendly, room was a good size. Nothing fancy but great for a place to stay in a good location. Also got upgraded for free to a room with a great view, would definitely recommend.
Would give it 4 stars, but for what it claims to be and the price we paid I think 5 star is fair!
A. F.
It was great, staying at Britannia International Hotel, the room was very clean everthing organised the staff was very helpful and he explained everything in details. I would love to come again.
a. b.
I got exactly what I paid for: a decent place to get my head down for the night.
Staff are fine, check-in is flexible and easy, rooms are acceptable, buffet breakfast is in line with the rest of the experience.
Though the pineapple chunks looked fresh, they had a very strange, unpleasant taste to them, poor pineapple.
K. M. A.
Average at best. The rooms arent very clean and the overall place is actually rather dirty. The coffee mugs in my rooms had dirty spoons and that was awful. The beds aren't comfortable at all, the wifi is sporadic and you don't even get a full day access. You get them in slots of 20 minutes.
E. C.
Room was clean and spacious. Bathroom was clean too but shower was a little annoying and the head wouldn't stay on the wall. There were no plugs near the beds to charge phones or tablets/laptops which was also annoying. Great views and breakfast staff were helpful. Breakfast was fine. Coffee was strong and bacon was undercooked as always in breakfast buffets in the UK. Would stay again though.
L. P.
Only stayed 1 night but was excellent, large size bedrooms comfortable bed. Only 1 coffee each but went and asked for more and they gave us a cone full with everything you need. No WiFi in room. Unless you asked not sure if you had to have a password or pay for it or not didn't ask. Hot Breakfast wasnt hot but a very good variety of cold breakfasts on offer.
a. k.
Really liked it. Staff really helpful and competent. Love and clean and comfortable. Great value for money. We booked two nights on the room breakfast and evening meal with wine deal. Sounded too good to be true but it was exactly what it said. Couldn't fault breakfast. Ample to suit all tastes from full English to porridge cereals and fruits etc. If you are tied to a low fat medical diet. Evening meal the same from soup to mains to desert and a full bottle of wine with your meal which for house wine was impressive. Lively bar with sports drinks reasonably priced for a hotel or you can sit and relax after a hard days sight seeing looking out over the wharf. Lots of people relaxing and conversing. Nice. Nice conclusion for us after a lovely days tennis at Wimbledon.

Good useful stop over. Great views. Bathroom a bit tired!!
a. s.
Good location (less than 10 mins walk to Canary Wharf), and staff are extremely helpful from the reception to the doorman. Reception area is large and is almost reminiscent of the entryway of a very dated Landmark. Only qualm with this hotel is that the single room is really not worth what you pay for it, small bed and told upfront that it's tiny with no windows and I should upgrade for £10 (I was only staying a few hours so it wasn't worth it for me). The bathroom was decent, it was clean and did the job. To me, the hotel is in need of a facelift and cannot compete with newer rival hotels in the area.
A. F.
Love this hotel, it was not the first time I was staying here. Now we were staying in the 8th floor and the view through the window was amazing. Lovely staff as well, rooms were being cleaned every day. Will definitely be back
S. M.
Booked to stay 1 night with a Groupon package which included dinner, breakfast, wifi AND a bottle of wine. We received outstanding value for money. The hotel has an old English charm with its decor - judging by the reviews not everyone gets it! But I did and I loved it. Check-in queue was a little long - but come on!! There are hundreds of rooms and if you elect to check in when the check in desk opens (i.e. the busiest time) what are you expecting?! Concierge greeted guests waiting in the queue, explaining the many facilities of the hotel which sped process up. Concierge also got us a taxi when we couldn't get one! The service of an excellent concierge. Receptionist was lovely, fast and friendly. We received surprise upgrade to executive room on the 8th floor - this room was MASSIVE! Very clean, spacious, charming. Beds comfy with no external noise at all - fantastic sleep quality. Dinner was limited but tasty. Breakfast is amazing!! Location fabulous. Literally want to go back next weekend. And the weekend after that! THANK YOU

Friendly staff. I liked the antique nature of the furniture but the room (esp. the bathroom) could have been cleaner- if I'd stayed there longer than 2 nights, I may have got some gloves and cleaned the bathroom. I was not comfortable walking around the entire room barefoot and that's not happened to me before. Dirty bathroom floor and it appears limescale remover hasn't been used in a long time. Lifts are really old and people had to ask each other which floor we were on as the communication was broken (or just non-existent) in one of the lifts. Fantastic location but I think I'll try the Novotel across the road or go back to the Point A next time. The superiors at this hotel really need to consider refurbishing the bathrooms or at least provide their cleaners with the right materials to do their job. In short, the 3 stars are for staff friendliness and location (not far from the DLR or underground).
K. O.
Stayed for business for few nights with my colleagues. The building was old as described in other reviews but to me it was fine enough for its price. Staffs were friendly and helpful. They don't have free WiFi and that caused a critical problem to us later, draining up our SIM's data plan. I wish they included it in the room charge since it's the 21th century and there's no one who doesn't need the WiFi. They skipped making up my room once. It's nothing serious because there's essentially nothing to replace or refill in the room, but still it's disappointing. I didn't try the breakfast nor the bar. My colleagues said it wasn't great but good enough. There were strange samurai/Budhhist statues placed all around and I liked it.
N. M.
They lost our reservation but we managed to iron out the details eventually. I’m pretty sure they upgraded us for free to make up for the fuss.
Location was pretty good, although not in central London obviously.
The staff were a bit hit and miss, with some being very helpful and others looking like it was the last place they wanted to be.
The room was spacious, if faded and a little past it’s best. It was unfortunately overlooking a building site, but that can’t be helped.
K. C.
Apart from eating at one of the restaurants (the pizzeria which has the worst pizzas ever) in the hotel, we really enjoyed staying there. The room was big and very clean. The concierge was very friendly. Could do with cleaning the windows and revolving door more often. They were filthy. We had some cocktails at the bar which cost around £8. Worth every penny. Nice and strong.Would definitely stay here again but will not be eating at the pizzeria.
M. G.
We had such a lovely relaxing time! Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated with a large wooden bed, a dresser and flat screen. Clean, fresh bathroom, lots of spare towels and gels. Unlimited wifi was really great too. The pool, spa and fitness centre were awesome ($4). Staff were just lovely and helpful ( I asked for a room with a view of the water and they instantly found us one ) -- the only criticism is the room service menu, staff and the 'tray' charge? Didn't appreciate or enjoy any of that service but otherwise we loved our stay here.
J. H.
The staff here are very helpful and friendly
They give excellent advice on things to see and visit.
My only problem was I was in a wheelchair accessible room but it certainly needs someone who uses a wheelchair and cannot walk too give them advice, eventhough they said wheelchair accessible I was unable to take advantage of the wet room as the door isn't wide enough and it doesn't stay open for you to even try to get through.
The plug sockets are way too low and their isn't slot of room to move around in the wheelchair.
Otherwise the hotel was good.
A. H.
Friendly staff and reasonable'ish prices, but close to the end of its life?
Room was clean and spacious, but everything is dated and tired. Shower with a choice of hot or cold, a sink that drains at it's own pace if the plug mechanism doesn't fail, an air conditioning unit in name only, windows you can't open and my favourite was the chandelier that was so low I kept hitting my head on it 🤕
The bed was firm and had it not been for the heat I suspect I would have slept well, there was reasonable amenities in the room, iron and board, kettle and generic drinks selection.
The hotel seemed to only have 2 of 3 lifts working again dated with elements broken within, doesn't inspire confidence. A nice bar and seating area, was ok to finish off the evening, I didn't eat in the hotel but there seemed to be a reasonable selection to choose from.
There is a fair amount of construction going on in the immediate area around the hotel, all of it from memory high-rise.
Only 5 minutes from the DLR and underground it's convenient for accessing the city, be aware the underground gets very busy at rush hours
D. L.
Location of hotel is excellent, a short walk to Canary Wharf. Staff on reception were efficient and polite. My room was a twin room on the first floor. Whilst spacious with an ensuite and very clean, the decor was somewhat dated with a strange mural painted on the wall and no window. There was also no air conditioning, but a small fan had been provided. I found the room too warm. Otherwise the room was well equipped with iron, ironing board, hair dryer as well as the usual facilities to make a tea/coffee. All in all, pretty good considering the prices of other hotels in the locality.
M. C.
Location was fine, not a long walk to the nearest underground. Rooms were a bit dated but the air con was a problem. No controls for temperature in the room meant a call down to the desk....15 minutes and 3 calls later a plug in heater was brought to the room. It did the job but a huge shame the air con had to stay on throughout the night. Service otherwise was fine, staff were friendly and helpful.
C. J. B.
The staff are very friendly and attentive. I ordered food from the bar and was surprised how quick it came and tested good. I think my only negatives would be: The bed was very hard and not very comfy My room had a jacuzzi bath which we great but the shower was not very good at all. Overall I would recommend this to anyone as great value for money
A.
The heating didn't work in the room and it was a difficult experience checking in with a Groupon voucher which wasn't on their records. But it's a lovely venue and a pretty hotel and the staff were polite. The food was nice and the view from the restaurant was nice looking onto the Thames. The price was a good deal. Parking could be improved. The hotel is in a convenient location to catch the tube or river boat around London. I'd go again but recommend picking up a heater on arrival.
N. D.
Good location, OK rooms. Some furniture is old and worn out. Have to pay for wifi now. Pool actually closes half an hour before the advertised closing time. Room service is expensive and my steak was well done instead of rare. Room does have a wonderful jet bath tub. Overall OK and good price but could be better.
A. S.
Took quite a long time to check in as there was a big queue on a Friday evening. I had a really quiet room as it was an internal one with no window, making it a bit cheaper! Good breakfast and good price for London.
J. S.
We stay here when we go to London. Rooms may be a little dated but we have no complaints. Rooms always clean, housekeeping is amazing. Meals are buffet style so there is always something nice to eat.
N. J.
Only just average (and that might be generous). First appearances it seemed nice. However we noticed the room window was held closed with a pencil and let a cold draft come through, we also booked a double room and got a room with 2 single beds pushed together. The room annoyingly only has one power point. On a positive note the restaurants and room service looked well priced.
K. S.
Lovely hotel, staff were friendly and were very helpful when I had to ring up after checking out because i left my watch in the room! It was recovered and i picked it up within a few hours. Families good and plenty to do there.
J. J.
Cheap prices, furniture is very old, I am sure some people love it. I prefer a more modern hotel.
Pizza restaurant open until very late.
Good view from restaurant over water.
Easy walking distance to Canary Wharf station. A DLR station is also closer to the hotel.
S. S.
They upgraded my room on their own. Reception staff was very friendly.
Room was clean and so was the bathroom. Aircon was effective as well.
The only gripe I have is that they can have a small toothpaste in the bathroom.
A. S.
Stayed for one night. Good central location. Lobby and lounge large and comfy. Bit shabby round the edges and could do with some money and TLC.
Our mattress was shocking, springs jabbing into you all night. Glad I had been drinking if not would have asked to move rooms.
M. a. M.
Absolutely fantastic, we booked a double executive room, and was upgraded to an executive suite. Stunning views of London. Beautiful spiral staircase to the room, double bath, it was clean, spacious and fantastic location. The bar was quiet, lovely views of the Thames, and the cocktails were reasonably priced and lovely. Polite staff. A fantastic evening all round.
J. A.
Very beautiful lobby and public spaces. Room itself was a little more archaic, older furnishings and stuffy AC. Small but long beds smushed together. Marks on floor from guests of years past! Hotel breakfast is ample and has plenty of variety! Staff was also seemingly very nice (few interactions). Other big downside was the Wifi policy. 20 minutes free twice a day or huge fees to buy a daily voucher. WiFi in lobby but still very frustrating. I realize this might be a common policy when staying abroad but it is frustrating nonetheless. Great staff, great location. Water and bathroom are fine. Cheaper rooms a little rickety and WiFi situation uncomfortable. Would recommend with those small caveats.
B. C.
Nice size room , bedding is clean which is the most important thing ! The bathroom is clean also , but there were a couple of small moths in there which put me off.
Great place for a cheap stay! Amazing location , very close to the tube station.
But just be aware that the decor is very outdated , even if they just updated the carpets in rooms would make a huge difference !
But like I said clean , white bed sheets and comfy bed.
P. C.
Reasonable value for money if you check on line for deals. Great staff. Nice food available on site and even room service is reasonably priced - though bottled beer only on the menu. Bar downstairs has draught beer though. Health suite is nice but smelled like onions when we went. Decor does show signs of use but overall liked the place.
G. R.
Stayed there for a long weekend. For the last 12 years and enjoyed every time. Can't wait for next year. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is very good. The complete package is a great experience x👍🥰

I stayed last Friday for the Brexit celebrations and it's got handy access from the D8 and N550 night bus stop in Marsh Wall. I liked the buffet breakfast being able to have porridge which was nice, veggie sausages Linda McCartney to order, tomatoes, scrambled eggs baked beans, small mushrooms chips and hash browns plus fried bread! shame no orange juice but had cranberry and liked the tea not being Twinings. The let down was the bed. The bath and shower lovely water nice body lotion complimentary handy shower caps but mine was torn! the TV was working ok and the room went cold had to turn up heating
Shame view blocked by building in room 342. No free WiFi only got 2 20 mins free sessions and the free WiFi downstairs was only 30 mins session that cut off. Not very good. The WiFi should be free everywhere. Some lower rooms I've managed to get BT WiFi access and I'm a BT customer! I liked the docklands water view from the dining room and I agree with most of the reviews before it does need renovation also the postcard a shame about the photo of it I've stayed at a few now for the nice breakfast
L. S. (. S.
Loved it! Great price, great view can freely leave your bags at hotel while waiting for check in. Classic room service 24hr desk. Gorgeous bath. Friendly staff. Was everything you'd expect from a hotel :)

Staff were great - decor needs updating
T. C.
Nice rooms but terrible staff. Stayed here for five nights had a lovely comfortable room and the rates are very competitive. The staff are another story. Had dinner here one night and when I paid the waiter decided to keep my change. I wouldn't mind but I was going to give him a bigger tip if he gave me my change back. The girl at the bar wouldn't give me a pint of coke. She told me the till didn't have that on it so I said that's ok charge me for two cokes and put them in a pint glass with ice she told me she couldn't do that. The lights were on but nobody was home. Went for the cooked breakfast one morning and it was of such bad quality I refused to pay for it. So in short stay here on a B&B package and go for the continental breakfast if you want a cooked breakfast go over to canary wharf.
M. L.
Lovely hotel, clean and welcoming, staff very helpful and pleasant. Our room was clean with everything we needed for an overnight stay. We were on eleventh floor and enjoyed the view especially all the lights at night time. Good choice at breakfast.
g.
The rooms are good. The staff very friendly, helpful and efficient. The exterior of the hotel doesn't help to sell the place. The food was buffet style, very good breakfast, also they have an Indian restaurant and a pizza place to.
A. F.
Check in was speedy and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is very dated and needs modernising. I had a distressing incident when I got locked in the bathroom when the door handle wouldn't open the door. However I would like to thank Peter the maintenance man who rescued me. He was extremely understanding that I was upset and did everything he could do ensure I was ok. The hotel staff apologised profusely and moved me into a better room and gave me a bottle of wine to apologise. Overall, l I feel the staff handled the situation extremely well.
C. “. B.
Stayed for one night. Overall hotel was OK. Staff good. It needs a refurb badly. Tv channels didn't work properly, reception seemed to be dodgy. Very annoying. Room itself was fine. Bed was OK and it had a dining table for some reason. Bit odd. Breakfast was nice and their spa facilities are decent enough. They also have a pizzeria there although never tried it but it looked nice.
E. N.
£49 for a double room with a window in Canary Wharf is a good deal! If you pay £169 last minute (before covid) not so much.
Breakfast (£7.50) is great!
c. b.
Had such a lovely stay here!! Definitely be coming back

This hotel is in a brilliant location within Canary Wharf and about a 10-15 minute walk to the tube station and shopping mall. They are really helpful and as soon as I had an issue they would get it sorted as soon as they possibly could. The negative is the building itself, although pretty and has some old school charm, the place is knackered. The lift has issues and the rooms aren't as modern as I'd personally like on a business trip to London. However for the price, location and friendliness of staff on my visit I'd put it as ok. I'd like to rate it higher but I feel I have to put 3 star unless they can modernize the building a bit.
J. J.
Rooms need an update. But good price for area.
R. M.
The hotel seemed clean but a little dated. The TV stand and remote in my room were broken and although I reported this nothing was done about it. The food in Jenny's wasn't great and I was pleased a member of my party had bought some Imodium with them.
a.
This is a really nice vintage style hotel so for anyone looking for a five star wanna be hotel this is not for you. It has nice decoration even though some of its forniture it's weared out but is part of the hotel charisma. It has the commodities for a modern lifestyle and big enough rooms to shelter a couple. It is a good choice if you want to enjoy a trip the way you are supposed to.
J. W.
Book in process took too long, had to wait about 20 mins in a queue. Lifts could only take 5 people even though it said they should be able to take 10 people, and they were very slow. Food was good. Staff were friendly. Hotel was a bit shabby in places but comfortable.
A. N.
Clean rooms and courteous staff. Good location. The free WiFi is not all that free, however. You're limited to two 20-minute periods per day unless you're in the lobby. I thought most hotels had migrated into the 21st century by now.
P. R.
Lovely hotel, managed to change our roo..as we over looked the roof vents. But loft wasn't working to the 13th floor so 2 flights if steps..Nice room nice Inside too. Breakfast was good. View over river.will.go again. Got deal through Groupon. Nice area easy to.get to train station too.
D. W.
Good location, not bad for the normal price, however I booked last minute and was not worth the rate (£175 a night) for a room with tiny beds. However they did upgrade me to a double after the first night with a view of the dock so mustn't grumble! Good customer service from some of the staff, some are a bit rubbish
T. M.
The room was clean and had tea and coffee. Read the reviews on here and was pleasantly surprised by the rooms. Staff were extremely helpful but they do need to think about increasing numbers on the desk in the morning; if you are on business you need a VAT receipt.
A. W. S. B.
Very nice old fashioned hotel with welcomed friendly reception staff, special thanks to Syl and Areeya for making my stay amazing. Definitely will be back soon.I had a big size room with nice view facing Canary Wharf and the River. Amazing thank you.
S. P.
Decent price for room with no view. Great selection of breakfast. Didn't turn on the main light in the room because the fitting had bugs in it. But would definitely stay again.
J. G.
Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the room was great, bed was comfy, shower was even good - which is a rarity in a lot of hotels! Breakfast was delicious as well! Don't be put off by negative reviews, it was a great stay and I would definitely stay there again!
M. D.
Should be a 4 star but ... Breakfast is awefull ... Absolutely classless. The lounge area is great. Big leather seats and a bit old world. Bed is a rock with sheets but room was large and comfy ... I will stay again asking for extra duvet (cushioning bed)
S. A.
Possibly the best value for money. Great prices and large rooms.
B. W.
Location: Five-minute walk from Canary Wharf Underground station. Very close to the station entrance over a footbridge. On the water.
Dining: the restaurant has a number of dining options. An Indian restaurant, a pizzeria, a bar, and a dinner buffet. Near other restaurants.
Internet: free WiFi 24/7 in the lobby. Two blocks of twenty minutes free, daily, in the rooms. Otherwise paid in the rooms.
Rooms: well-decorated. A bit small. Bed seems incredibly cheap and firm. Television is in somewhat annoying location. Excellent water pressure and quick hot water in the shower/tub combo. Somewhat small shower.
A. J.
Sharing an experience after 4 day stay.
Pros:
Low price as compared to others.
Centre in Canary wharf
Cons:
No WiFi, just 30 minutes free session.
Got tiny room which promised to replace but couldn't happen in 4 days.
If you're not getting anything in town, can stay here.
T. M.
Trip to London to see Michael Buble at the O2 was topped off by the wonderful experience my Mum and I had with this hotel. Only good thing was the balcony outside the sliding doors. The room was quite bigger than the Standard room we have had before, but NOTHING else was different.
J. R.
Good hotel just remember you have to pay for parking. Which doesnt make it as good of a value. Would recommend.
C. M.
Rooms are ok slightly dated. If you are eating there, take your own sauce! A couple of sachets of HP smuggled in would be essential
A. M.
For the price, it is actually very good. Paid £60 for a night, the interior is rather old and not modern at all but the room was very big for the price and the bed was very comfortable! Overall not a bad place at all and the price is rather appropriate

Nice hotel

Britannia International is a fairly mediocre hotel, which is nonetheless acceptable for an overnight stay. The decor is lacklustre and tired. Lift indicators don't fully work. My room was an inside one i.e. no windows - this was not really a problem as the view isn't likely to be up to much. The room was a good size, though the toiletries supplied are naff, the (good sized) bed was poor, bathroom accessories were loose and one bedside light didn't work. Location is fairly good for Canary Wharf. I wouldn't recommend it for central London or the main tourist attractions. I paid about £100 for the room for one night - I'd certainly think it was poor value at full price. You can easily do worse when looking for a cheap overnight stay in London, but I reckon you can easily do better as well.
A. B.
Really decent price in a solid location. The hotel had a bit of a modern meets old fashioned vibe. Had a great time here and they served food until late. No complaints
T. C.
It looks good from the outside. But upon further inspection it wasn't all that. The rooms were dull and substandard. However it was clean. The staff were great. And my advice is don't pay for a room with a view. That's what I done. There was seriously no point as the windows were dirty on the outside.
D. C. (. D.
Visited friends that were staying there. Only saw the lobby and bar. The place looked a bit dated, like it was stuck in the 80s but still had a certain charm about it. The bar staff were friendly and helpful and the drinks were reasonably priced. I cannot comment on what the rooms and rest of the facilities available.
N. R.
I had a good evening and night at this hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. I had a meal in the Italian restaurant and ate a very sweet but otherwise nice pizza. Slept fine and my room was good. Only time for a quick breakfast but it was pretty reasonable.

3 stars Price
5 stars Service
I stayed 3 weeks so I had the chance to talk with all the staff they are all very nice and helpfull
Good room and it cost me less that a Airbnb
So just thank you !

I was given a Groupon experience for a spa day with afternoon tea as a Christmas present. My daughter and I arrived after struggling to find the hotel. The spa was in need of some tlc, everything looked very shabby and tired. The steam room was closed for renovation work but the sauna wasn't really working very well. The jacuzzi was limited to 6 people but that made it crowded. We asked about treatments with a therapist but they were apparently fully booked. In the pool there were two young lads who were noisy and not very considerate to others, mother was sat reading her book ignoring the noise! The towels were so small that they were soaked before we even left to shower before dressing for tea. Only one of the hair dryers was working which meant we had to wait for each other.
Afternoon tea was amazing though, although it would have been nice to know what sandwiches were going to be, rather than just getting all of them. The scones had plenty of jam and cream and came out hot. The cakes were all delicious, we cut each in half so we could both try them all.
All in all if they spent some money on the spa and limited the numbers of people using it at any time. And employ more therapists.
R. T. (.
Brilliantly situated hotel, just a stones throw away from the O2 Arena. The hotel was somewhat affordable, though the prices do seem to more than double when a popular band is playing in the arena... As expected perhaps? The hotel itself has friendly, helpful staff, everything you'd expect, and great shower pressure ;) The deco is very dated however, though this doesn't affect the functionality of the hotel at all.
S.
Good hotel with good rooms! if you feel comfortable in old style rooms - it's your choice. DLR 5 minutes walk, underground station 6 minute walk, Canary Wharf and Canada water by the hand.
Wifi limited 20 minutes in the rooms until you have a voucher but me didn't need internet.
Also there's a construction sites around - that makes windows dirty(there is no sound goes inside room) but hotel can do nothing with that, views was still good.
You can enjoy your stay!
J. S.
A hotel in the Canary Wharf area. Check-in was slow because the staff didn't seem so motivated to work.
Responses were a bit cold, name? Passport? May as well have robots serving customers instead.
Room was spacious for London, but hey, for the price you would expect so!
T. G.
Very good value. Nice meals
A. C.
We got a £95 Groupon deal for a double room, 3 course buffet with a bottle of wine and cooked breakfast. This was a great deal but had we if paid full price we wouldn't have been pleased. There was a cannabis cigarette on the balcony, empty glass behind bedside table with lime slice, stain and iron mark on the carpet. Staff ok, great location.
B. H.
We stayed here for five nights. We booked a standard twinroom. We got a room on the 3th floor on the streetside. The beds were terible. I think they can have a better use as trampolines. The rooms were big enough. Also the cleaning of the rooms was allright, the rooms were very clean. There is some sorth of air conditioning in the room. Except ours wasn't working. This ment that after a busy day in London we came back to a room with a minimum temperature of 28.5 Celsius. The hottest we saw on the room temperature meter was 33 Celsius. Not very comfortable, especially when we set the temperature to 16 Celsius. We mentioned this to housekeeping but during our stay the system wasn't fixed.
The front desk receptionists were very nice and active. The public rooms in the hotel are outdated. For example the black leather couches in the hall. Some of them are fixed with duct tape long time ago... The duct tape itself was also worn. Not something you will expect from a 4 star hotel. Also all the windows, except those from the entrance, were disgusting. Matte glass was a better name for it. If I had a hotel, I would be ashamed to show this to my guests. (See photo)
We took the breakfast arrangement. The food was good. Not much choice. For example I was missing some fresh tomatoes or cucumbers, but the full traditional English breakfast was there, even as cheese and ham, fruits, yoghurts, different styles of eggs, croissants and confiture/marmalade.
If you are staying in the hotel, please try one of the Hotel bars. The bartenders are very nice guys, fun to talk with and very active. Thumbs up!
We also used the Hotel spa. First we thought this was included in our booking as there was no sign of it that it wasn't. The locker rooms are split for males and females. There were no private changing rooms. The swimming pool looks outdated and like it needs to be refurbished. Just some paint and more cleaning can help a lot for a better impression. The service personnel was a bit annoying. There are no other options than day our week tickets (our it wasn't offered). We bought a week ticket for £10 which of course is a fair price for using the spa for a week.
After all this hotel has a lot (but not all) of people at work who really want to make something of it. Also has the building the ambiance to be an upperclass hotel with all the gold details and typical Brittish interior, but due to a lack of maintainence and terrible, terrible beds I filled in a three star rate. I really think the hotel itself didn't earn this rate, but because of the enthusiastic employees I filled in a star extra.
P. K.
The room I booked was double bed but at the reception 2 single beds were offered. Single bed was insufficient. The moment I entered on the floor where all the rooms were there, there was a king of smell...similar to kerosene, which was weird. Cleanliness was good. No noise. Nice location. Difficult to reach from Canary Wharf station but South Quay station is near by.

Booked the hotel for my parents to stay while they visited London. Had some queries which the staff was very helpful to resolve however I was not impressed with the 0871 number where I had to pay extra to ask a couple of questions, especially since I was on hold for a while. The actual stay, according to my parents was alright, the windowless room was a bit stuffy but as expected. The decor of the room and the hotel itself was nice but could do with some modernising as it did look like a hotel for the older generarion. The one not so great experience I had with the staff was upon checking out, I wanted to make sure that the parking fee did go through and so I wouldn't be charged again for it so checked out via the front desk rather than the express check out. The man at the front desk was very cold with me and very dismissive. Overall my parents did enjoy their stay in London and at the Britannia, however they may want to try another hotel for next time.

Decent hotel for the price! Lots of gawdy decorations. Walls were a bit thin so I could hear what the neighbours were up to, but generally I was able to get a good nights sleep ahead of my job interview.

A no nonsense low budget hotel. The mattresses are thin and the bed not the best but it was clean and reasonably comfortable. It has great access to the excel center and the rest of London.
The WiFi is not free though some sites say it is.
Curenty (Jan 2020) there is building work just outside the hotel for which a large generator runs throughout the night so if your a light sleeping I would not recommend it without ear plugs.
There is a good view of Canary Warf from some of the rooms.

A bit dated but very reasonable price for this part of London
