O. S.Perfectly located for many museums, close to bus and tube. Friendly and helpful reception. Clean room, of standard London size. Bathroom is small, but the shower is surprisingly large. Being 191 cm made the use of the toilet a rather tight fit. The reason l only award them 3 stars is the lack of sound proofing, at least between mine and the adjacent room. I could hear their conversations and TV without problem.
R. Q.Stayed in one of the single room. Was small but not too small. Only two issues that I had.
1, the curtain was right above my head and was so long I kept hitting it when I was in bed.
2, the water power seemed pritty poor. I was on the top flow and when I turned my shower on it didn't work. It was one of the rainfall ones and the side hand held bit did at least work.
Having said that, based of its location and what I paid I felt I got really good value for money.
D. S.I had a good time. The "deluxe" suites could be a bit more "deluxe" and the staff could be a little friendlier and professional when they talk to their guests. For the price, it was still a solid 4 star stay.
P. G.When I walked into the reception area it was very welcoming, spacious, light and bright. The two male receptionists were helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very clean as was the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable too. It has recently been refurbished I would think. Thoroughly recommend this hotel. We shall be going back there.
F. Y.This Hotel is newly refurbished, very comfortable bed. The location is just awesome. The hotel is located two minutes walk to South Kensington station and 5 minutes walk to Gloucester Road station. I highly recommend this place.
The only downside of this place I can think of is that the lift was a little small and slow.

I. A. V.The night receptionist was lovely, always trying help with everything, extremely nice. When it comes to hotel/installations; it has been recently renovated and reopened so the deco is modern and new but there are stills some things not working very well (for example, the elevator). The single room was very small, and I knew it beforehand, but it really felt like you sleeping in a closet. When it comes to ac / heat, it did not work very well, at least the heat. Sound isolation was not very good, I could hear my neighbours conversation quite clearly, and I don’t think they were shouting. They room was overall clean, but it could have been better. Of course, location was awesome.

H. S.Stayed at this hotel last night. The hotel has recently been refurbished and the rooms were upgraded and spotless. The staff were efficient and friendly. The restaurant and bar are closed at the moment but cannot fault the rooms and service.
V. M.Recently renovated property at a prime central location in London. 4 mins walk from South Kensington station and 10 mins walk from Hyde Park entrance near Royal Albert hall. The rooms are quite big from London standards and the staff was friendly and helpful. Good quality mattress, bed was comfortable, water pressure was really good and room was equipped with a smart TV. The Nespresso machine inside the room was a good touch.
Not giving 5 stars because they had kept small bodywash sachets in the bathroom and proper toiletries were not given. Also the lift is still under renovation and is not working currently.
A comfortable stay and would not mind booking it again.

A. V.I loved this place. Yes, it's a bit old school, but what's not to love about concierge-level front desk staff and a comfortable place to sleep. They allowed me an early check-in, my room was small but clean and charming. The bathroom was clean and everything worked fine. linens were clean, etc. Obviously the price for the location and amenities of the neighborhood cannot be beaten, and the Gainsborough's sister hotel across the street offers a pleasantly arty experience for breakfast, cocktails, quiet reading, etc. I will be staying here every time I'm in London on business.

K. E.A basic hotel in the heart of Kensington. Perfect for our location (we were visiting the natural history museum which is directly opposite so for us it was ideal ) But the hotel itself is a little run down and needs a bit of refurbishment (cracked tiles in bathroom, mismatch paint patches and very creaky floors and the tiniest slowest lift ever). We paid a premium because it was new years eve but again for the convenience of the location it was ok. Room was small but comfortable (they were not able to accommodate our request for a twin room so we ended up with a double but it was fine), the tv however only had bbc channels and no remote could be found for the set (reception unable to help) so we couldn't switch off the audio description that was on.
Tea/coffee provided in the room along with an ancient hair dryer but plug sockets were limited (our room only had 1 outlet so had a large extension cable plugged in to give extra sockets but a fairly old fashioned solution to the problem)
They take an extra £20 on arrival for a deposit and 'extras' which strangely you don't get back on checkout (you have to wait for them to refund which takes 3 to 5 days apparently - will be monitoring my statement for that)
Reception made no mention of breakfast/dinner so don't know if this hotel has a restaurant and can't comment on food quality - we ate out.
Acceptable for one night but I wouldn't make this a 'holiday' hotel given how much choice there is in the area.
Perfect for our location hence three stars - but this is probably a 2 star hotel
J. E.My husband and I and our 2 college age kids spend 2 nights at the Gainsborough Hotel. The location was perfect, very close to the South Kensingtion underground station that made getting around the city so easy. The neighborhood had some great restaurants. Lara at the front desk was so helpful about our sight seeing plans. She had wonderful ideas! The room was not huge and was definitely dated but we expected that in London with our budget. The place had character. The room was clean and well cared for. We enjoyed our stay.

R. B.Hotel is in a great location - 5 mins walk from South Kensington tube stop and from the National History Museum, more like 10 for the V&A. Stayed one night, staff were very friendly and helpful, and the "comsumables" in the room (towels sheets etc) were clean and crisp, simple and well presented. The room itself didnt live up to these standards though, long overdue a refurbishment, and the bathroom needs a deep clean - very scaled up and cracked/grotty in places. Fine for my one night stay on business but wouldnt return for pleasure.
S. V.An OK hotel with a brilliant central London location. Easy walking distance to the Science Museum, Natural History Museum and the V&A.
The bedroom was neat and tidy but the bathroom could do with some attention.
There is a free coffee machine in the reception area but be aware that breakfast is served at their sister hotel which is located across the road.
There is no hotel parking on site but the on street residential parking is free between 10:30pm and 8:30am.
There is a small lift up to the upper floors but there are 4 steps up to the hotel front door.
n.Brilliant hotel with friendly, helpful front of house staff. Good rooms with curtains unlike some others in the area. Breakfast room is first class with many different meals on the menu all waited on.

M. B.For afternoon tea there is no where else to go... They will bring a 20 page menu of tea!!! And they are more than happy for you to try as many as you want. The food is amazing, and if you want more of anything they have no problem in bringing it. Don't be fooled by the lemon curd, it isn't cream, it is delicious though.
