Reviews of Makedonia Hotel
Room was nicely decorated however we had no shampoo or hairdryer in the room and had to go down to reception to sort out which they gladly did. The next day we had no milk to make a drink. The room had no phone to ring reception and bearing in mind it has no lift and many steep staircases with threadbare carpet we couldn't be bothered with another trip to reception. The breakfast is very basic. No croissants which would have been nice. Biscuits for breakfast was a bit strange. All staff were lovely and helpful.
Lovely, clean, warm and cosy room. Great position: less than 5 minutes walk to the tube station (piccadilly line) and just in front of the bus stop. The staff is very kind and attentive. What more could you ask for this price? Highly recommended.
Our room at the hotel was lovely. Staff friendly and ready to help. For breakfast there was a good selection. Overall our stay has been prefect.
I had a nice stay at the hotel, or does need some improvements in our case the shower did not work and the carpets in the hallways were a trip hazard but for a one night stay the hotel isn't that bad for the price. I would go there again.
Wifi doesn't work, construction works ongoing from both sides, so quite loud. But acceptable for such price. Good location for Arsenal fans, near tube.
Hotel needs a lick of paint and black out blinds for room. My TV didn't work and view was of building site. Cheap room and ideal for overnight stay. Continental breakfast OK but could have done with some fruit.
Comfy bed, helpful staff and good but basic breakfast. Hotel interiors are very run down but comfortable enough for the price you pay
Not bad, cozy room, but small. The attendant was lovely and the breakfast, while little options for cereal, covered all the bases.
Rooms are a good size, pretty clean and tidy. Very noisy from the road through the night but it's very convenient for the local area.
We had a small, cosy and very inexpensive room. Perfect for travelling into central London without being part of the grime.
Clean, no cooked breakfast but it was OK, no lift. Nice view of the prison out of the window
The bedroom was nice other than the curtain being off on a few clips meaning light was coming in. The bathroom wasn't really up to scratch but it was enough for just our short overnight stay 12am until 7am. The bed was comfortable. The noise from the bar next door/underneath could be heard in the room as could the doors shutting in the other rooms. The front of house staff were very friendly. In summary it was ok for us staying overnight after a gig but I probably would not consider it for a longer stay.
Small rooms, but it's near a tube station. Makes it easier for access
Stayed here for a month during the moving process was a brilliant hotel.
Is ok for a night. Is close to arsenal stadium and Caledonia road underground station.
Great memories here with a great friend! WE even made a song about it.
Great bed ,delicous breakfast
Was in a tight spot with accommodation late and night and this hotel stepped in and sorted me out late and night
Good breakfast,nice Staff.
Lovely pub and nice food
Very basic but cheap
Good
Good location, nice people at the 24h reception. Rooms were quite clean but really in need of maintenance. The bathroom was clean but mould was embedded everywhere around the shower and tiles and the shower head sprayed water everywhere. The towel had marks on it. The window didn't provide adequate sound insulation, the noise from the street could be well heard. All furniture, shelves and decorations are in a still functional but degrading condition. The rest of the hotel is in grave need for maintenance, the carpets and walls are in a horrible state, torn and badly stained. Overall not horrible value for money for London standards but the hotel could be hugely improved with some work.

Good hotel, about three minutes from the subway. The triple room is spacious, and we were surprised to find a tea set in the room. The wifi doesn't work well. Recommended for those making a quick stop!
Weak points: they don't have an elevator, the corridor is very narrow (two people can't fit), the carpet in the hallways is old and dull and gives an air of an untidy place, and the rooms are small (at least that's how it was in mine). Strong points: it is very clean, the linen is changed daily, the mattress is very comfortable (I slept very well, even though I have back problems), the staff is very kind. The breakfast is OK, but not too rich (here it also depends on each person's preferences/expectations) and it is the same every morning. Another advantage is that the hotel is located 5-7 minutes from the Caledonian Road Metro station and has bus stops nearby (approx. 5 minutes).
This is a very well-located hotel, close to the subway and across from a prison, but don't be alarmed. It's old, and if you get an upstairs room, you have to climb some very steep stairs. It has a lot of carpeting, typical of England. The breakfast is good, and the Greek owner is very friendly. It's affordable considering London hotel prices.
(Translated) It was not bad for the price. As you can see, the opposite side was the prison. The people were friendly and the breakfast was just plain but it was good to eat. It is convenient because supermarket and station are close. The facility is a little off, but it's okay if you are not a very sensitive person!

(Translated) Hotel simple but very clean.
Do not trust the entrance and common areas that are a little outdated

Hotel simple mais tres propre.
Ne vous fiez pas a l’entrée et les parties communes qui sont un peu vieillots
It wasn't bad for the price. It turned out that right across the street was a prison. The people were friendly and the breakfast was ordinary but edible. It is conveniently located near the supermarket and station. The facilities are a bit poor, but it's probably okay unless you're a very sensitive person!
ONLY USE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY!
Unfortunately other hotels were all booked some how but this hotel had rooms available which was a life saver.
Somehow they took cash, unless their card machine was out of order. The entrance window is visibly damaged, hall way towards the rooms and floors have visible damages.
Our room in floor 3 was ok, NO shampoo or shower/bathing soap! We had to use hand soap to wash in shower, terrible! Shower was ok, quite small, condition of toilet/bathroom was okish.
Our room was fine, bed was OK.
Coffee and tea set was already prepared, we should have even checked expiry date on those products just in case, but we never used them.
Breakfast was provided. Cereals, veggies, bread, butter, jam, yoghurt, cheese, ham.
No bacon, no egg if I recall. Juices like water, apple, orange were provided along with coffee and milk. Food area was located lower ground floor which was nice, also having a toilet there for conveniences.
Overall, the price was not good for this kind of service. The receptionist Levell I believe her name was, was actually very very nice, she supplied us 2 bottles of water when we asked.
Price of our room was meant to be £110, however we worked it out and negotiated for £95.
Hotel is next to a jail, and you can find at least 2-3 free parking spaces if it's available.
Personally I would give this a 2 star review but because the hotel needs money to improve the service, I have it a 3 star, and the receptionist Levell's customer service was good.
That is why I said, only use this hotel in case of emergency!
(Translated) Good note for the reception and the staff. Close to public transport. But bad point for the aesthetics of the place, the cleanliness (the room was never made during our stay) and limited breakfast (no fruit 😩)

Bonne note pour l'accueil et le personnel. Proche des transports en commun. Mais mauvais point pour l esthetique du lieu, la propreté (la chambre n'a jamais été faite durant notre séjour) et petit dejeuner limité (pas de fruits 😩 )
The hotel is absolutely sufficient for a sightseeing tour in London. It's inexpensive by London standards. The included Continental Breakefast is a basic breakfast and is absolutely fine.
Simple but very clean hotel.
Don't be fooled by the entrance and the common areas which are a little dated
Despite many other negative reviews, I had a really good time considering London standards.
Good location in relation to the tube station - nice rooms and nice service
(Translated) Too noisy, but close to the subway
(Original)
Trop bruyant, mais proche du métro
Good staff. Clean room, comfortable bed. Excellent value for the area. Quite noisy from Caledonian Rd, but it's quiet enough to sleep. Shower didn't run hot but was fixed. Had banging pipes (like hot vs cold pipe expansion) in the night, would probably be much harder to fix.
Very nice staff. The breakfast buffet could be have more to offer, more greens and more options. We stayed at the first floor, we could hear the door slamming everytime someone entered the corridor. In general, good hotel but could be better.
The room and bed were quite good, and bathroom as well. The place is really aging poorly, though. An updated entrance and refinished stairwells would be a good start. The trip to your room is reminiscent of a 19th century firetrap.
Less than average price for a average room. Nice bed and quirky decor. Didn't have breakfast etc but good for a quick trip to London near kings cross/Camden.
If you expect any better than this for the price in the area, then it's not going to happen. It's sort of fine - quite nice, clean, friendly staff, reasonable VFM, flexible (negotiated late check-out for a small fee), and they throw in a very nice (and hangover-friendly!) continental breakfast. Really can't complain at all. I'll almost certainly check out the same place next time I'm in the area, as long as prices stay more or less the same.
Very close to tube station, friendly staff, and breakfast included. The bathroom was okay, but not in the greatest condition, similarly the rest of the rooms furniture was worn.
