J. p.Recently visited the restaurant/bar and what a little gem it turned out to be. Hidden via a alley from the main street, entering through the doors opens out into spacious space with a lovely bar centred around the tables. The food is amazing and I highly recommendable jerk chicken (either the wings or the rotisserie) - amazing flavour with so much depth. Service was excellent and cannot be faulted, atmosphere was very hip. Will definitely be revisiting!

A. B.Nice place with a good, to relaxed atmosphere. A few good beers on tap. Didn't eat but the food looked and smelled great. Longer than desirable wait at the bar given that it wasn't that busy but it's a single visit and they had a group of 10 come in for food. Would definitely visit again.

A. J.Really nice pub, friendly & helpful staff, hidden outdoor seats in a quiet alley at the back. Only thing was, it's quite pricey. For instance, burgers were around 9 quid, but don't even come with chips - those are 4 to 5 pounds extra! We thought this was a bit rich. But the pub is well located, friendly, and still worth a visit imo.

About the food...I ordered a burger and lets just say that it remained me the burger I had once at Deptford high street, there is a guy selling £2.50 burger and when you have it you understand why it is so cheap, the burger I had at the Old ship gave me the same vibes
B. B.Ooh, delicious Espresso Martini! Great selection of beers, IPAs & stouts. Also had Seedlips available for a non-alcoholic though refreshing drink. They served lovely seasoned chips as well. Nice crowd & great staff, I'll def be back!
S. L.The best Sunday roast I've had this year, what a gem of a pub. Amazing service (wouldn't even accept a tip!?!), top notch rotisserie chicken (you have to try it to believe how tasty it is) and just all round lovely. Can't wait to come back again, will be my go-to for roasts from now on. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it

T. B.In Corona virus times, outside seating is a must and I like the weird alleyway that the pub sits on. Staff are great, their app is not the best but keen staff make up for it. It has a hotel? But I have never stayed, I live round the corner but I am always puzzled by what those hotel rooms look like...decent food, good beer.

C. T.It was our second option but ends up to be our best option at that night. Good customer service, a part of the Redbull served, that was sugar free instead normal one. They can improve it by updating the menu or telling the customer before serving it. Anyway, I still recommend it for when you wanna have a little escape from this crazy world.

Televisions are on during weekends but not in a disturbing way if you're not there to watch sports. Large variety of options if you're into cocktails or beers. And have I told you how good the food is?
G.Usually come here once a week for lunch. They have a small selection of Ales and lagers and a decent selection of spirits. Couple of times a week they have lunch time deals on food. Food is generally of a high standard for a pub. Staff are friendly. Only downside is its a bit pricey compared to some other pubs (such as Spoons) but can't really complain.

T. P.One of the best pubs in east London, hidden away off the main Street, with a lovely big skylight, it's spacious yet still cosy, great beers and absolutely delicious rotisserie chicken menu, all reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly, and TVs for football and games.

W. M.Excellent lively place, you can get into central London from here in 20 minutes on the train. The hotel/pub offered a wonderful happy vibe, with good food, good price and spotless rooms. Will definitely be using these on our visits to see family in Hackney.
Don’t be put off from the blue archway on the main road, this is back door and the front is lovely and in a quiet street. The staff are friendly and helpful too. The room has all the facilities you would find in a good hotel.
J. D.Went with a group of friends after a wedding and the food and staff are fantastic. We went on a Tuesday so the chickens were half price and it was so delicious. Staff were very friendly and made a little congratulations dessert for the newly weds. 100% would go back again.

L. C.One of the best pubs in the area. Never overly crowded, never wait long to be served, but nearly always a decent atmosphere give or take the time of the week. They've nailed a mix of good alcohol selection, straightforward but decent menu and pretty good regular clientele from what I've seen in my years coming here. The new GM has overseen some nice changes too more recently so the place is likely to be awesome come spring/summer!

J. S.I came little late and the kitchen was already closing but the waiter was really friendly and asked the kitchen if they would still make something. I had really good chicken dinner and enjoyed some good beer in a wonderfully atmospheric place. Waiters were really friendly and helpful. I really recommend Old ship hackney and if I ever go to Hackney again, I'll surely visit again.
S. P.Nice once you get access to the pub. Quite a comfortable venue, I stayed in Room 4 which had a very comfortable bed, adequately hot, water that did not gush through taps or shower head. A quiet room even on a Saturday night. The breakfast was pleasant but offered nothing exceptional. I traveled there by car and found road access and parking difficult with bollards across several access roads and parking limited to 4 hours, Mon to Sat from 8am to 11pm.

Next door to The Hackney Empire perfect for before or after show venue and have heard good things about their rooms. Without question I would reccomend it.

The entrance is a small blue tunnel so make sure not to overlook it, they also have tables out the back aswell. I enjoyed the meal and would go there again.

Bit of a hidden gem as it’s no more than a doorway off Mare Street (though it has a hidden frontage round the back with a handful of outdoor tables). Normally has BT Sport. Food is maybe a couple of quid deer, but deals on wraps at lunch time, and the well priced beers keep me coming back. Try the Bloody Mary.
c. w.Perfect Sunday afternoon. Good atmosphere, mix of sport fans and families. But the best aspect was the Sunday roast. I’m not a veggie but I went for the veggie option and it beats hands down most pub meat roasts I’ve ever had. Awesome!
P. S.Great rooms, pub and bar. Food was a bit below par. Hot wings... hot sauce check hot chicken wings check. But one was poured over the other like a dip, not a marinade, so the chicken just tastes meh. Burger needed more, much more seasoning. Wish I had the rotisserie chicken, which looked great. Breakfast is not served till 0730, but too late for me I'm afraid, had to make do with Costa round the corner. :-(

In Addition We Could Eat & Drink With Discount Due To Our Stay... This Is A Great Idea To Make Your Stay Even More Enjoyable.
We Enjoyed A Few Drinks At The Bar, A Great Selection Of Spirits, Craft Beer & Awesome Cocktails. Followed Bu A Burger & Cheesy Fries To Appease Our Appetite.
Both Atmosphere & Food Was Great. The Room Above The Bar Was Clean, Comfortable & No Noise From The Bar Could Be Heard At Any Point During Our Stay.
All You Need For A Stay Was Included... En Suite, Towels, Toiletries, Great Selection Of Tea & Coffee & Sufficient Storage For Clothes & Cases Etc.
The Pub Is Also A Welcome Addition To The Stay... A Great Full English Breakfast Was A Lovely Way To End Our Stay... All Served In The Pub Area With Fruit, Cereal & Bread Buffet Available.

I. N.I visited the pub for a drink with my friends. Cant say anything about how it runs as an inn. The place was crowded as the six nations Ireland-Wales was taking place. Despite the high level of trade, the service was very quick and efficient. Our server was really nice to us and even had a bit of a chat with us, which made us feel really welcome. If in the area, I would definitely visit again.

T. L.As a place to drink on a sunny day, this was a great pick. You'll have a choice of a small outside area with a few tables or a cool and spacious indoors, but crucially The Old Ship tends to be fairly quiet on weekend days when the sun is out (I assume because most head to nearby parks) so this is worth going to if you don't want the crowds. It's also worth going to for a decent selection of beers, a good menu, friendly staff and some half decent artwork dotted around (including the high street entrance, pictured).
A. G.Room is nice, clean, alittle small yes but when you are out and about I am hardly in my room. The staff are really nice and accommodating. Bar is great. Good beer, cocktails and food.
J. M.Right by the Hackney Empire and the town hall this pub/hotel has it all. Great food throughout the day, good ales, lagers, wines and spirits and a quirky entrance from the main road. It's back to front and top of the tree for service and attention to all customers.

A decent selection of drinks behind the bar with friendly service.. The food is quite nice. Real nice chicken wings. Beware if the kale salad. That's a straight up no go area... The manager actually stated that there had been many complaints about it and was due to change, so depending on when you go, it might have been improved. Hallumi fries are quite nice. Regular fries very nice. Tea is nothing special. Just a bag of twinings or to the similar effect. These days you can get some awesome teas.. But still okay if that's what you really want. Could always just bring your own special tea bag though if you've one better at home 😉
Real cute for a casual date. However beware of the weekends, it can get quite rammed in this lovely little spot.

S. D.The old ship is hidden gem. It's a hotel and bar/restaurant but since I'm a local I've only drank and eaten there. The food has always been good value and tasty. From sunday roasts to English small plates. The drinks are a bit expensive though and that is why it's not a regular pub I visit

M.Great rooms in the centre of Hackney but on a quiet little back street, the staff have always been fantastic, the food is very good for pub food in the area but you are only a short walk from London Fields and Broadway market which have some first rate restaurants. The choice of beers and wines are excellent and the breakfast is always well cooked
My only words of warning? Hackney is full if gobby ponces, who probably work in media or the arts, because of the proximity of Hackney Empire the gobby ponce factor at the bar many nights is turned up to eleven, that said I have been staying here a couple of weeks a month for three years so it does have it's (jaw hanging limply because these ponces have no self awareness) charm.
p. p.Had been there twice for staff drinks and Christmas dinner with work. Was a nice atmosphere. Food was good. However not my favourite place as no cocktail choices. Apart from that it's great.

M. T.The Old Ship Hackney was a perfect fit for our London trip. It's only a few minutes walk from the Hackney Central Station, has super friendly staff, great food and awesome atmosphere. The rooms were spacious for two had all the amenities. We would definitely visit again and recommend this to any who visit London.

j. h.Good and bad. Good: lovely pub, food and friendly staff. Small room but nicely decorated. Bad: dirty cup and spoon in my room, ridiculous shower that soaks the whole bathroom as it's directed to spray out the door and so high you have to get your hair wet which is annoying. Also got woken at 8am on Sunday morning by someone vacuuming the corridor outside. But at 89 quid on a Saturday night, I'd still rather stay there than a holiday Inn type place.

N. J.Went there for a quick bite to eat with a friend. They do 2 for 1 burgers on Tuesdays (at least, at the time of writing). The food was pretty good (I had the shredded chicken burger) the service was friendly, the atmosphere was good. The prices were good for London.

N.Lovely atmosphere, probably the nicest and most competent staff in that side of London (especially the young woman with the ginger hair who I think is a manager), the food is out of order good (shout out to the kitchen) and it is spaceous! I am not giving 5 stars just because of the decor, as it could be more immersive. Maybe some naval themed stuff, like ropes or charts on the walls, an anchor somewhere, candles and trinkets etc. For hackney it is a bit dry when it comes to decoration and the Old Ship aspect of the name that makes it attractive fails to come through.

The room's not bad (it *does* have a FAN which is a thoughtful and necessary detail when it's close to 30C) but the sofa is tattered and saggy and the carpet is dingy. I did name-your-own-price on Priceline, and you can't change those reservations, so if the star-ratings are off, you're bound to be disappointed.
Ask about the location of your room--you don't want your windows over the outdoor seating of the pub in the summer when the windows are open.
