5 star service from the management and staff. Plenty of food for breakfast and a 3 course meal every weekday evening and weekend lunchtime. 100 metres from Kensington gardens. Easily Londons best hostel.

I stayed here for around five months, through the second and into the third covid lockdowns.
I can’t recommend Sandeman-Allen more as a place to stay. It is excellent value and includes two meals per day, breakfast and a larger cooked meal. Full English breakfast is even available on Saturdays for no extra charge! It is very flexible as well, with just one week notice needed before leaving, making it easy to adapt to these uncertain times.
Sandeman-Allen is just two minutes walk from Hyde Park (I timed how long the walk took!) and there are good Tube links and local shops (when they are open...).
The best thing about staying here, though, is how friendly the staff and volunteers are. They really make you feel welcome and at home there.
The next time I need an extended stay in London I think it might well be with the LHA.
Thanks, guys!

Stayed here for just over 4 weeks, was meant to be longer but had to change my plans slightly. However, the staff have been beyond helpful and go out of their way to accomodate at every point.
The facilities are exactly what you'd expect, everything in common use is cleaned daily, and rooms get cleaned once a week (unless you request to not have cleaners come in) and ammenidies are what you'd expect from the description. There is plenty of bathrooms/showers to go around, everything works fine. some of the bathrooms/showers are on the smaller size, but it is really nothing to be complained about.
Food is provided twice a day. The portions are very generous and it is good quality/balanced meals, especially considering they cook in such large quantities. And as a vegetarian, I was always catered for just as well as any meat dish, which is unfortunately often rare. So no complaints there.
But what really makes the stay is all the staff being beyond helpful. They are friendly and welcoming, and made for an excellent stay. Due to the current epidemic they provide room service for meals and will accomodate self-isolation in every way, including providing private rooms at no extra cost for the duration of the isolation. So that is beyond fantastic.
Really can not recommend enough, and will be staying again. The hostel is honestly the best I have been to for the price and location, and I have stayed in many of the hostels around this area before.

If I could give this property 6-7 stars I definitely would! It's a great place to stay for sure, hospitality is amazing. Especially reception staff/porters are so helpful and attentive. Whenever you need help, it will be sorted in a prompt manner. Property itself is well maintained and looked after. My stay was amazing which is I'm very thankful for! I don't have enough words to express my gratitude towards the experience I've been provided. Thank you so much for everything!

I have been living in this hostel for more than one year, and I have no words to describe how grateful I'm for living here.
The hostel has a very good environment. The staff team is always very helpful and friendly, always trying to give you the best service. Sandeman is a very good place to meet new people and make friends. The location is also great. The hostel is located two minutes walk from Bayswater and Queensway station, close to Notting Hill, with Hyde Park literally around the corner, and with a street full of supermarkets, restaurants, and shops.
If you are looking for a place in London, I would definitely recommend this hostel. Sandeman has a special vibe that makes you feel like home.

I have booked a private room. The room and all facilities are very tidy and clean. There's cleaning service on weekdays. The cooking and cleaning staffs are nice. The most reception guys are just so-so. But I really like the cleanliness and peace of this hostel.
V. E.
This is a very good value for money place. First of all the area is amazing central close to amenities and next to Hyde Park. The building is beautiful and newly refurbished inside. Clean bathrooms and showers staff welcoming and always with a smile on their face. Management vigilant on safety and keeping everything running efficiently. A very homy place which hardly feels like a hostel.
P.
Good sized room, all kept relatively clean. Dinner provided is decent and plentiful, no complaints here. The reception was also very friendly and helpful when checking in.
V. P.
The neighborhood is very central and also near underground; it's provided of all type oh shops and very beautiful. Food is good and variuous and also the rooms are comfortable and very nice. Staff is helpful and polite. I recommend this place for a great holiday in London.
R. S.
Great price and lovely location. Rooms were spatious, provided the amenities we needed and there was a breakfast included!
C. L.
I living here almost 5 months the place is very beautiful and the food is also good it has gym inside good prices everyday cleaners and also amazing staff i recommend for long stay.
i. Z.
Very good hostel for a good price. I stayed at a 2-person dorm for 17 pounds with breakfast included, which is much better than the neighboring hostels with 8-16 people per dorm with bunk beds. The dorm is quite spacious and has good amenities, no bunk beds. Breakfast is ok. The only problem is - the staff is ridiculously rude
K. P.
Great price for a twin-share, but cleaning never happened on 2nd floor. No fridge facilities and only having a microwave available for guest use also let it down.
No common room but has a gym (although everyone can see straight into gym which is weird). Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Hostel is very well heated throughout.

Best hostel in london!

I got a single room in this place and it is Worth the money! Nice view from my room. Single bed pretty standard. I got 2 cupboards with loads of hangers. Can borrow iron from the reception. I got 2 sets of study tables as well. There’s a sink and mirror in my room. Shared toilet but its fine coz it wasnt busy. Free breakfast wasnt great, only cereal and bread. Sometimes eggs (they only allow u to take ONE, the waiter is cute but strict about food lol). Wifi good speed. Room was clean but floor could be cleaner. Reception was great, he go through everything! Also they dont provide towels but u can rent it for £6 or buy it for £9. Location great, near queensway and bayswater tube, souvenirs shops, restaurants and tesco. Theres even a mall with cinema nearby.
A.
The hostel was well located, really easy for tube stations and Hyde Park. As far as the room went though it wasn't particularly great, long term guests has basically converted the room into a flat with all the worldly possessions it seems. They were nice enough in the room and it was fine for me not being surrounded by fellow travellers. I definitely wouldn't recommend if you want a proper hostelling experience with other travellers though.
D. P. M.
I enjoyed my stay in Sandeman Allen House, the stay was good. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and the area is really well connected with London center and Heathrow Airport.
I would recommend it for young people that want to stay in a central and quiet area.
S. C.
I stayed a long period in the hostel and I really appreciate it. It's s good quality price.
L. Y.
lived in a 6-bed dorm for one year during my study. Cheap and amazing location. One unpleasant thing is that one roommate snoozed unbelievable loudly, also turned light on even after 2am and eat smelly food in the dorm.
J. N.
Considering the price it was fine. Good service and friendly staff. Toilets and showers a bit funky.
N. S.
Good prices, a great location, I had a good time...
but the place is really really dirty .. especially the bathrooms.
A. H.
By choose Sandeman Allen House for my stay, where I can easily do my trip to Bath, Oxford and Windsor Castle. Staff were really friendly and helpful, Adrian carried my luggage to my room when elevator is not working. I have a single room, and it is simple clean room. Breakfast is really simple, you can only take one boiled egg, one small yogurt, no meat at all.
C. O.
Was a VERY Central location with Bayswater and Queensway underground just by the corner. Funky Market and all efficient supermarkets close by. Even a Casino!! And loads of restaurants nearby. The food served was nice as well. Not bad for me to get choosy since it was my first time in English environment. Very friendly Staff OMG! From the receptionist to the live in cooks , supervisor and cleaners. Friendly co lodgers as well! The diversity and family oriented lifestyle there was unbeatable. I defintely recommend for first timers. Also . Their security policy is very detailed.
R. C.
Pretty nice but very small shower and flat pillows... otherwise clean and reasonable
B. W.
Situated just off Bayswater Road, short walk from Hyde Park and several transport links.
The hostel provides a high quality accomodation on a short or long term basis, offering rooms ranging from Single Deluxe to 6-bed dorms. Each room is served by high speed internet and has a lockable cupboard and wardrobe, sink and mirror.
Considering its location it is very worth every penny.
There is a canteen kitchen that provides 2 meals a day and free flow coffee - a TV study and laundry room. The staff and management are the absolute best in the trade, and very helpful in numerous languages.
A. K.
Simple and pocket-friendly place right in the one of the main parts of the london city. You can't beat this place in price. Common food area and shared and unshared rooms with bunker beds.
D. O.
Service is ok they even have a dports gym which is rare for this price. Showers are too small . Overall ok value
B. R.
Sandeman has been my home for 6 months in London. The location is great and close to the subway, what’s more, hyde park is next door!
The staff is very nice and helpful, whenever I had a problem they helped me. The price includes breakfast and dinner, plus there is a free gym! Now they have done reforms and the rooms have new furniture and many comforts, like a fridge in each room.
Whenever I visit London I stay in Sandeman without thinking about it, the staff and volunteers have become my second family! I am very grateful for the treatment received in this place and I’m looking forward to coming back soon.
I recommend this hostel 100%.
G. L.
A good place with a right price, near to Victoria Station and a lot of beautiful places.
M. T.
It meets the expectations of a hostel. Very reasonably priced for the setting
O. P.
nice hostel with free breakfast and even dinner! Dinner is really great!
R. P.
I stayed at this property for a little over two months, from late September to early December. I really enjoyed it, all the staff were friendly and helpful, always willing to help you. The location is the highlight, with three lines of the underground a few meteres and you can get to Notting Hill in ten minutes on foot, so that we can visit Portobello market every Saturday morning. Italian cooks are very good. Also, it gives you a chance to meet people from all over the world. I recommend it.

(Translated) great place to stay for long stays. Very well located, central, from which you can walk to other places and very good transport communication to reach more remote areas. You can also enjoy nature, as Hyde Park is 3 minutes walk from the hostel. I have been living there for 6 months and it has been a pleasure! the facilities are very good, and the cleanliness as well (which in times of covid is important), and as regards the workers and volunteers they are all very friendly, and there is a very good atmosphere, special mention to Jacob (assistant manager) who is always concerned in which everything is fine and there is no problem, and with which everything is laughter. Without a doubt if I go back to London I would choose Sandeman-Allen to be my home again for a while. You are missed little family ♥ ️

(Translated) I stayed here for about 3 months in a private room with breakfast and dinner included in the price. The right size room has everything you need for a long stay (a wardrobe, a sink, a bedside table, a desk and a small wardrobe). The room is cleaned 5 times a week and the level of cleanliness depends on the staff that is there in each month as it changes constantly depending on the volunteers who offer work for free accommodation. Perfect location, 100 meters from Hyde Park. Friendly staff (again, depending on the period). Possibility to have check-in and check-out at any time. Right breakfast, Saturday English breakfast. Definitely good lunches / dinners. Small and basic gym. Common spaces clean. Shared bathrooms and shower clean. I have to say that I was lucky they take a single room a little isolated from the rest and not very noisy. The experience also depends a lot on the type of room you are taking.

Possibilità di aver check-in e check out a qualunque ora. Colazione giusta, il sabato English breakfast. Pranzi/cene decisamente buoni. Palestra piccola ed essenziale. Spazi in comune puliti. Bagni e doccia in comune puliti.

(Translated) The site is very central, 1 minute from the shops that are part of the 2 stations that are on the same street Bayswater and Queensway. Very clean rooms, bathrooms and showers are outside the rooms. They have a small patio next to the canteen. Of course the staff and volunteers are a delight!

(Translated) As a hostel, and the expected ratio is really good. Great location! Next to it is the old Chinatown in London. There are a lot of Chinese food, there are also Chinese and Korean supermarkets, and there are also a lot of fast food restaurants. In two minutes, there are two subway stations, the central line and the district/circle line. The traffic is also very convenient. The only thing that some people are not used to is that the bathroom and toilet are shared, but the whole building is not afraid of no location. Every day, some people will clean it, and they will get used to it later. Another thing that is most personal to me is that it is very flexible to rent! For personal reasons, I can't determine the time left, and I have found countless places to live. Basically, I have to settle for a long time. And here you can live all the time, staying in the week before you want to go and the front desk said just fine! The staff inside is also very nice, and many issues can be negotiated. If you are not used to living with others, there is also a single room option. Of course, it is just a host. If you ask someone who is very demanding, you may vomit. After all, it is an old building with an age. Although it is not a luxury hotel, it looks very good! Anyway, for me, its advantages are completely greater than the shortcomings! (PS live with a small gym and a two-course meal. It's really great!)
(Original)

(Translated) Good points:
- We can make friends for the occasion and with whom we can keep in touch
- He speaks several languages all day long and is good for improving his English mainly and other languages too
- You can study quietly during the hours when the residents are outside and that's convenient.
- Most of the agents who work there are nice and it's nice, I want to thank the French Chief Manager for his job (don't hesitate to speak to the Spanish employee if you see this message)
- There is almost always someone from the reception staff
- There is a gym
- Two meals a day every day and a TV in the secondary dining room
All these advantages mean that there are not many free rooms let alone shared rooms ... obviously this remains my personal and recent experience but it can evolve (for the better I hope for the following clients!).
On the other hand, there are several negative points to deplore:
- the price for a single room! £ 220 per week for a little bit of space with a bed and lots of furniture (including a broken one) that are useless and take up space as well as a sink that makes noise night and day, it's expensive to pay even for London.
- the showers are either very dirty or the water flow is not strong enough and yet a team of volunteers must clean every day (see photos)
- the team that cleans the room has just emptied the trash, no real cleaning, dust sheep are legion
- there is a bathtub on the 3rd floor but no stopper so unless you have planned it well you cannot use it
- there is not much variety in the meals, always the same things served
- there is a Spanish employee who is part of the Management and who disrespects anyone who is not native Spanish, so even if you speak in the language of Cervantes he will cut you off and treat you more like a child than a customer who pays his entrance fee. Frankly I left the day he told me I was just talking nonsense. Not to mention that his verbal language immediately lets you understand that for him you are only a negligible quantity ... I hope LHA Management will see this message because I also left because of his behavior. Disrespect is unacceptable on the part of an employee of an establishment where people live and sleep there.
-The Spanish employee refused me to check out on the pretext that he closed the "invoicing software" when it was only 3 pm and that according to him I had not warned him during the day even. But if the guy had done his job, he would have written down on a piece of paper that the client (me) told him and only him that I was leaving the place on such and such a day and at such a time and if he didn't mind. He barely heard me then preferred to continue his conversation in Spanish with a Catalan woman.
- there is a young Italian with glasses, an LHA employee (he wears the black polo shirt with the LHA logo on it from time to time and I have seen him work at the reception before). In short, so weird to say like that but he doesn't talk to men and just to men, it's frankly weird, first time seeing an unfriendly Italian ... in fact some people have explained to me that he doesn't like just don't talk to anyone who isn't a girl. And he makes you understand it by speaking sharply to you.
- some residents smoke DRUGS inside the establishment at night so as not to arouse suspicion but it smells all over the hall and frankly no one likes to be woken up in the middle of the night by the smell of combustion and smoke
- you hear doors slamming all the time so if you are a light sleeper you will hate the place.
Last info to know: They will have to make some adjustments from mid-March so the top floor (4th) should be closed.
(Original)
Points positifs:

(Translated) The location is perfect, close to 2 subway stations, surrounded by 2 markets, souvenir shops and currency exchange (competition makes everything stay cheap). Breakfast is at will. Boiled eggs, bread form, yogurt, butter, jellies, milk, cereals. The accommodation of 1 bed is great, however the bed is not very comfortable. Hot water in shared showers. What left the experience bad were the bathrooms. I did not have enough water to carry everything: - /. Great place, however it does not have all the support for a young backpacker, it's pretty residential. And it's cheap
