The hostel is wonderfull, good beds to sleep the night. Warm rooms. Good showers and looms. Laundry works perfectly. A good value for matinal breakfast. A nice kitchen to share. But do not have oven to bake or grill. Two microwaves and two cooker tops. Excelent value for money for a short discovery trip to old and charming London .

Cheap & cheerful. I stayed in a twin room, it was clean, towel provided. Friendlier staff than other reviews suggested.

This hostel doesn’t make any false claims ! Basic but clean (even the 15 person shared toilet and shower) and with very friendly and helpful staff.
L. R.
It’s okay to just sleep.
It’s clean, but rooms are really hot and it sometimes smells like weed.
Location is good though.
Staff at the reception could be more friendly.
C. M.
Decently priced and good location but staff are a bit abrupt getting mad I didn’t put a bed tag on my bed (which wasn’t ever mentioned at checkin). Besides that staff seemed friendly enough and rooms were sufficient for the two nights I stayed, though be warned it’s 3 bunks high in the 6 bed room.

Mixed experience. Many of people with mental health challenges have been dumped on the street which this hostel kindly accepts them. Huge pressure on receptionist and the manager. They all need full and professional training and support. Suitable for everyone as long as you put your head down
D. H. S.
The use of people at the reception is friendly. The rooms are clean and tidy. Toilets are often unclean! Good arrangements for bathing. The kitchen is good.
T. I.
Good service and prime location. The only bad experience came from the water supply in the bathroom. The temperature cannot be controlled and water stopped working during usage. It gave a very bad start and end of our day.

Easy to find. Funky place, stayed there when it was hot. So didn't get much sleep as fan was broken. Only needed to stay overnight and it was cheap. But only one bad experience when I stayed there is that I brought a locker then next thing I knew someone else was using my locker. But it was sorted in the end staff should be more careful.

Check in fast and easy with photo I'd required.
Rooms are clean and tidy.
Large dining area with kitchen that serves breakfast, there is a fee for this unless the cost is included in your booking.
This area is busy throughout the day with people watching the large television and charging their devices.
You can bring your own food in and consume it in the dining area.

Nice beds and toilet Best place for stay in less budget . Also very secure feel safe ☺️

Great hostel in a good area, good room & good shower & lounge room will be staying here again

Bang for the buck. The rooms/beds are a little small, so if you are on the taller side like me, it can get uncomfortable.
I. O.
The good: Excellent location, better cleaning than expected, decent installations. Simple but satisfactory breakfast (Self service with toasts, cereals, coffee, tea, apple juice).
The bad: Very small rooms, really small and thin mattresses, low safety feeling (Particularly for shared rooms) because of relatively easy access inside.
Overall: Great place for short trips with little luggage and focusing on spending a good time out of the hostel. Better with private room and bathroom.

Stayed here for one night. This was the first time I stayed in a dormitory room so I didn't quite know what to expect. Overall, most people were quiet and I especially liked the curtains attached to the bed that gave you a feeling of privacy. However, two girls were talking the entire time (thankfully I was so tired from my 8 hours journey that I fell asleep regardless) and one girl came to the room at 3am, making a lot of noise for approximately 30 minutes. We were 7 people in the room but the bathroom was almost always free.
Breakfast was good especially because it only cost 2€. Cornflakes, coffee, tea, juice, toast with nougat, jam and butter. I really liked the common room, breakfast room, it was pretty modernly decorated.
The staff is very friendly. I would only recommend that the staff should ask whether you want to use a locker in your room for a lagguage deposit during check-in and not only after demand.
The location is great. Russell Square is a nice neighbourhood and I was happy to only take one station with the tube after my long journey to London beforehand.

<This is only a review during my three-day stay there in December 2018> I stayed in the dorm, staying on the very top bed is an interesting experience, it’s very high but however the bed and pillow was comfy with reading light and power outlet that’s useful. The toilet smells bad but the shower was nice. Big cafeteria/lounge area with a kitchen that you can use, wonderful if you’re there for a week or longer. Reception was a bit of a wait but staff was nice. Great location, close to metro and supermarket. Would stay here again if I just want to save money.

This was our second stay within 2019, first time in a 9 persons dorm and the second time in a private en-suite dorm.
The hotel facilities are very clean, the rooms get and all communal areas are looked after several times a day. front desk staff is friendly including chamber maids and night personell.
The only down side to the rooms to be fair, the beds are a little tiny.
The kitchen and sitting area is very big and has a vending machine.
Perfect location, if you stay here, you will have very little travel costs as almost every sight is in a walking distance.
We will stay with you guys again at our next visit.

Easy check-in service. Friendly desk staff. They let me have a free locker to keep my bags in when I showed up too early for check-in.
The beds in the dorm rooms are comfortable and the frames aren't squeaky! One of the best hostel nights I've had.
Good breakfast service in the morning. Great location for exploring London.
L.
The hostel was clean and in a quiet location. The shared lounge was a good size and I was pleasantly surprised with breakfast, check in was easy even thou adoga had booked me in the wrong size room. The beds are a good size and comfortable. …

Great location if you're looking for easy access to central London and very close to both Euston and Kings cross stations when coming in by train. The beds are comfortable but if you're of a tall kind like me they are a bit short. Storage is great and secure with card to your room so no need for padlocks and keys which I tend to lose easily. The staff were super helpful and nice. Overall a great place to stay for how cheap it is.

Has cooking, laundry facilities, rooms are decent with privacy curtains

I have stayed here a few times already and my experience has always been positive.
It is a hostel, hence the accommodation is basic but very affordable.
The facilities are clean and well maintained. Staff is polite and friendly.
WiFi is fast and accessible throughout the whole building, including the rooms and common areas.
Each bunk bed has its own power outlet, therefore you will have no problems recharging your devices at night.
Both the kitchen and lounge are spacious.
There is a Tesco (supermarket with affordable prices) and an underground station (Russell Square station) just a five minute walk away.
The building does not have a lift, therefore visitors should be prepared to carry their own luggage on the stairs.
J. T.
I think this Hostel is perfect for a single traveler wanting to get a good place for an affordable price. There were some negative notes but I believe for the price point it was clean and well managed. There is no elevator so you need to make sure that you are physically fit enough to take your bag up copious amounts of stairs. I would recommend this hostel although I would not stay there myself again as I prefer not to sleep with other people in my room as a matter of personal preference. Thankyou for my stay.
T. M.
The staff are very nice. But, the rooms are really small and too ***y beds in each room. It doesn't matter which room you take, I took different types of rooms, 8 beds, 9 beds, 15 beds, all are small. Bigger rooms have more beds in. They …

Was a clean tidy place, only stayed overnight but did what I needed it to do. Didn't have breakfast as they couldn't cater for my allergy but it smelt nice! Bed was fine but the curtains didn't keep all the light out which made it hard to get off to sleep.
p. a.
If you don't mind the noise and the short beds then it's a good choice as it's in a very good location and in a pretty good price. The stuff are helpful, there is proper kichen and wash/dry machine for clothes, tesco nearby and average wifi. The common room isn't very comfrotable for long stay with laptop because of the stools but is big. The rooms could be better but not that bad and generaly it was clean. The showers are in the negative unfortunately as the half was with very hot and the other half with very cold water and it was difficult to fit and organise my towel, clothes.
A. N.
I think the low ratings on some of the apps are undeserved so I'm giving 4 stars... this hostel is better than the average London one in my (varied) experience. The location is amazing, the showers have temperature control... Free earplugs... Good ventilation in the rooms including fully open windows with fly nets (other hostels take note!). The kitchen is well equipped enough to make a decent meal. The common area is large. The rates are also very cheap some nights. Staff are helpful. Improvements would be lockers with padlock option, some private shower rooms, and a bigger kitchen. But you can't have everything
H. A. M.
It's a great place for it's cheap price and good location. Rooms might be a bit small for the number of beds in each of them, but overall the facilities make up for it.
There are three-tier bunk beds in most of the room. Lockers are available for each bed, and can be bought for an extra charge.
There are wash basins in every room. You are never too far from a common toilet. The fact that there are no toilets attached to every room is kind of a good thing, as the communal toilets tend to be very clean at any time of the day/night as they have cleaners working almost 24hours. Showers are hot at the right temperature 24 hours. Common room is good and large enough with two televisions.
Haven't tried out the kitchen. The reception staff are very helpful and always cheerful, even if there is a big queue during check-out time.
Security is very good. All individual rooms can only be accessed with a key-card and there is a security at night outside the hostel to make sure that no one without a keycard walks in. In the odd chance of walking out of the room leaving your key behind, the staff are always helpful to let you in.
C. L.
Nice Hostel in a central and comfortable neighbourhood (small park, shopping center, nice little restaurants and a super market in less than 5 minutes walk distance) and good public transport options.
Also in walk distance to the City of London.
Dorms and furniture are old but clean and nice - bunk beds have thick curtains for privacy.
NEGATIVE: As a person of 1,88 meters the bunk bed was way to small - I would not recommend it if you are larger than 1,85 max. better not over 1,80 meters.
Dorm also has VERY small but clean bathroom - shared bath was okay (relatively clean but not very comfortable)
Staff was amazing, patient with my endless questions, nice and very helpful!
Breakfast is okay for a hostel - a small selection of cereals and toast together with tea, coffee or juice. Nothing fancy but for a Hostel okay.
—> CONCLUSION: I recommend the Smart Hostel for everyone who seeks a calm stay and who doesn’t put much emphasis on design and aesthetics. Also not for large people but otherwise the stay was very pleasant and the hostel can be recommended!
M.
The cheapest hostel you will find in London but it’s a really bad experience. The rooms are smelly, the furniture is old and the overall amenities are dirty. It’s bearable if you’re staying for less than two nights
M. M.
Clean facilities, friendly staff and in a great part of London. Would highly recommend.

Cheap place in a central location. Does the job. Stayed in a 4 bed dorm (was actually a 6 bed but with just 4 people- kinda nice) and it had an attached really small bathroom (again did the job and better than sharing a bathroom with the whole hostel). They charge you for every little thing though including the lockers under your bed and using lockers once you checkout.

This Hostel Location is very perfect. tourist spot is closest from this hostel. It's very clean and neat hostel ever i had seen. With all amenities. I have very great time here. I will definitely suggest you to book this hostel with confidence. If i visit UK again then i will definitely book this Smart Russell Square Hostel. Every bed have a charging point. This hostel will provide you all daily basic needs like toothpaste, charging UK adaptor, locker, brush and all.(but you have to pay for it.) Staff is also good.

Dear Smart Russell Square stay with you was for me very great experience, the way I was treat by a staff (specially night shift and 2 guys from other shifts as I know they are from Arabic countries) who always is here to help you at any time and any occasion was really great even I would can say it : amazing.
Your price and location its awesome for property based in centrum of London.
Breakfast is simple but great should be add some extras as a fruit salad or some boild eggs.
The minus of my stay was this already tidy rooms with a bags of let me suspect people who stay here really a long time. Their hygiene crest awful climate in the rooms.
Security staff - no words...

It was my first time on a hostel. I am pretty much satisfied. Room was not that bad for 9 people. Toilets were pretty clean, there was always paper. My bad experience came the last day. I had to check out at 10 am and left my things there (that costs 2 pounds). When I came back I asked if I can stay at the common room for a few hours because my flight was at midnight. I was told I could stay there until 6pm which was nice by me. But then another member of the stuff came and told me that the hostel facilities are only for customers and that I should leave.. I explained the situation and he said he didn't care. And I was wondering when I read the reviews about rude stuff.
A.
It's a nice place, cheap and with friendly staff, the bed is small but is okay if you aren't so tall, the private shower in my bedroom turned hot to cold in seconds its uncomfortable. All days clean all very good. Please if you are thinking to go here dont take with you a big luggage, because you won't have so much space if you share a room. The best is the location and share room and you can cook in there! I wouldn't mind to back some day!
L. T.
Very convenient location at a fair price, pretty clean hostel.Big common area.Front of house staff is polite.this is my point of view and experience during my 3nights staying. A reading light in the bulk room would have been a nice touch, but I can't really complain of anything. Thank you !
Y. D.
Not bad for a weekend last minute reservation. There were 9 beds in the room even though it was for four people. They looked more like boxes with one side open than beds. They are about 180cm (6'ft) in length so keep that in mind if you're a tall person then it might not be comfortable. The width isn't much better either. Otherwise, the place is clean and in a good location.
A. D.
Great location: nice and quiet around the hostel, although it is located in one of the busiest areas of London. Rooms are nice and tidy. On check-in you get your room number but not the bed, so you can choose your bed from what is not occupied. I think that's very convenient. Staff seems to be very friendly. Can't day much more as I've stayed there only for a night.
R. Z. J.
For the price and a couple of night I think is fine. The bathroom were incredible Small, it was challenging doing your stuff in there ;P I didn't like that I needed to pay for the locker below my bed. The breakfast was just, bred, butter, Nutella and some cereals. The location was nice, quite Central and easy reachable.
直.
Pros
1. Breakfast is cheap(2pound), but simple.
2. Every bunk has own certain.
3. Near the metro and supermarket.
Cons:
1. Deposit ONLY IN CASH, it's inconvenience once your are a credit card user in England.
2. Gallery is smelly, but room is fine.
3. Every store luggage cost 3 pound!
4. The bathroom is too small, like swimming pool bathroom. But private bathroom is okay.
5. The kitchen stuff is so rude.
6. No lift.
7. There's only one sink in kitchen, so often need to wait.
8. They will throw out your food even you label a stick on bags.
If you have no budget, you can choose this one. BTW, the locker in the room need to 1 poun per day.
M. V.
I was in room with 14 other persons. In general it was really nice there but the room was in the cellar and there was only one window so the room was extremely sticky and it felt like summer in it.
The breakfast was good. You don't have such a big choice (toast and some spread) I've missed some fruits. The staff was also ok.
m. s.
I enjoyed the time I spent at the gostel: the atmosphere was nice and the staff was very friendly. The rooms were fine and the bathroom was clean :) What I didn't quite like was the kitchen: it was pretty messy and there was no oven. but the essentials like the microwave or or the hot plates were fine and worked.
C. A.
Good price, good facilities, I was in 10 bed female dorm with on suite. Bathroom was cramped but functional. Bed was comfortable, maybe a little small. If your a tall person you probably wouldn't enjoy it as much
S. T.
This hostel is best if you are on a short 3 day vacation and want to explore as much London as possible. It is 1.8 kms in distance from London eye. The 3 bunk beds are really not comfortable but the price is reasonable. Kitchen, and common area is spacious. It's like a big cafe. The management could have been more friendly.
S. C.
The location is very good, only 5 mins walk from Piccadilly Station and 15 mins walk from King's Cross station. I like common area that is quite big.
Overall is not so bad for me because the price is very cheap and include easy breakfast...not bad. I just don't feel comfortable when I stay in my 6-bed dormitory that is very narrow and there are 3 levels of bunk bed that made me feel like I had no space to do anything. When my roommate who slept on the top bed came back, I felt so dizzy when he climed to his bed. I don't mind to use common shower room and toilet but I hope they provide more shelf or hanger in the shower room because it's very narrow and my shower stuffs or clothes dropped often. Cleanness is not bad if it's not prime time like in the morning or evening. If you want to borrow a towel, price is £2.5 and the locker storage in the room that you can use your room key card to open is charged at £1/ night. I recommend for short stay only. You can't find this price in other places in London.
R. V.
Overall not bad, but with some remarks. First the good things: it is located centrally so you can easily go anywhere without much travel time, it is tidy and not expensive at all. However do mind that you have to pay a deposit: 10£ in cash per person. The beds are also very small, so tall people be aware of that. I also didn't think the staff was very nice. However price quality ratio is very good
S. A.
The staff is so friendly and accommodate all your unreasonable requests. I moved here after trying highly rated hostels in london and that saved my trip! Clean rooms and washrooms, respectfull attendants to other peoples privacy..! Lights go off in rooms at 11 for those who just wanna sleep after a long day and the common room has a lot of friendly people 24 hours to interact and socialize..
A. H.
Best place for temporary stay... Clean and tidy!
K. L.
I think the Hostel was fine. The beds was nice and clean, but the beds was also really small. The room was also really small and the floor was a little bit dirty. The temperature was really variable, one night there was so hot in the room and another night was there cold. The staff was fine but did not say so much. The breakfast was really boring. Only some dry toast bread with butter and some corn flakes.
S. G.
That's a nice place. I stayed 2 nights here. Very safe! I didn't even use the lockers (1.50 pounds) because we were all leaving our bags on the ground without any problems. There's new showers (on the third floor) and it's one of the most calm hostel I see. No hard music
I. K.
Okay hostel. The beds are fine but the bathrooms are soooo tiny. You literally poop and shower in the same place square 2 ft. The common room isn’t nice either but I slept fine in a huge room and people were very respectful of others belongings.
F. B.
The location is really good with easy to go places like British museum. 24h reception is also helpful. But you can shower with only one arm because the other one has to press the button for water pretty hard. WiFi worked fine for me. Breakfast for 2$ is alright with toast, cereals coffee and tea. The beds can get small
J. B.
My first ever stay in a hostel. I didn't know what to expect but it was a pleasant stay and the two people who also shared the room were really considering of us when they came in after being out drinking. They even let me borrow some toothpaste. There is WiFi at the hostel which was great
L. F.
This hostel is perfect for many reasons:
- It's very very close the EVERYTHING to see in London, just 2 or 3 stops in the Picadilly Line to be anywhere interesting to visit.
- There's a pub just around the corner so you can go for a beer any night and get the full british experience.
- There's a 24hr Tesco 1min away so you can get your food or snacks very easily.
- The cleaning service is working all day so everything is very very clean.
- The people that work at this hostel are super polite, always ready to help.
- The breakfast service is OKAY, it's not a super complete all you can eat buffet, but you know that the minute you pay for it.
- The bathrooms are shared but there's also single toilets, so you can get the privacy you need.
I would definitely come back to this place, it's perfect for what you are paying.
C. O.
Stayed here for a night during a heat wave when the entire train system shut down. Cheapest option by far, neighbourhood seemed ok, very convenient to st. pancreas. Not a home type hostel, small rooms with built in bunks stacked to the ceiling. If your looking for a cheap night this is it.
M. E.
Pros:
- Plugs inside your beds
- Order from website and there'll be free breakfast.
- Friendly staff.
- Free morning storage before check-in.
- Clean rooms and toilets
Cons:
- WiFi not always working especially in the rooms.
- Small beds.
J. A.
Price is good knowing location; Free of charge ATM available inside hostel. Showers are OK as long as you have flip flops.
Would be nice to have reading lamp in each bed bunk; sockets not available for each bed (not possible to charge your phone when you are in top bed); My biggest dislike was noise: it felt like walls are from paper, you could hear anything from outside, upper floor, stair landing; as people were running(?) sometimes you even could feel vibration . No chance you will have good sleep here if you sensitive to noise.
I choose it because needed cheap overnight stay for early appointment in London, but won't choose it for my leisure trip..
A. K.
Been staying there again and again for the last couple of years. They have refurbished the reception but the rooms are slowly starting to deteriorate. It's worth noting that beds are very short and narrow. It also gets extremely hot in there during warm summer months so keep away during that period. Otherwise, definitely not the worst hotel out there.
M. R.
First off, this is certainly a hostel and not a hotel - some other reviewers seem confused when placing their ratings. I'm reviewing this compared to other numerous hostels I've been in. London in general isn't a big "air conditioning" town, but in the summer this place is hot hot. There's a fan in the rooms I stayed in, but no individual fan for the beds...so you can't close the curtains for privacy while sleeping or you'll suffocate from heat. If they invested in a tiny fan for each bed it would increase my rating to 4/5 stars. The showers in the basement are like seriously prison showers. Don't go. There are other showers in the other floors which feel a little claustrophobic but get the job done. The hostel is clean. The breakfast is coffee, tea, cereal, toast and spreads. Leaves much to be desired but a bite of toast can take the edge off while you go out looking for a real breakfast. The location is great, right around the block from the tube stop and a 24 hr Tesco express at the same location around the block will serve all your hunger-on-a-budget needs. I'd stay here again....in fall or winter. Definitely never again in the summer without AC. I'm writing this review from their lobby, the only AC place in the entire building. Not even the common area had it! Just the small lobby for relief.
L. C.
Overall, my stay at this Hostel was very pleasant.
Good aspects: The location!!! Great with public transit nearby, the underground7tube (Russell Square) and just a few more minutes walking we had a train station (King´s Cross Station). A neat lobby, entrance and bathrooms. The heating system was very good as in I never felt cold while inside the hostel. Had wifi which worked perfectly for me. I liked the fact that they offered free maps and had many little "vouchers" hanging on a wall for anyone who desired to take.
Bad aspects: Very very very very poor cleaning at the bedrooms. NOT ONCE did the housekeeping vacuum the carpet floor or just sweep it. And some other reasons... they just took the trash from the bin and left. Bad odour in room sometimes (but this is due to the other guests). They should invest in simple air cleaner or freshner would do the trick, easy and cheap. Liked the breakfast (cereal, bread with butter, jam, nuttella), but had no fruit.
B. H.
I stayed last night and foudn it to be excellent for the very low price.
Clean & tidy
Good facilities:
-- plugs around for free device charging
-- showers (clean, with free lockers on request)
-- reasonable beds (I'm 6ft & fitted just. They have curtains round which most hostels don't)
-- decent kitchen (24hr I think, not available in many hostels at this price)
Excellent staff:
-- reception polite & helpful (sorted an issue with someone nicking my bed quickly & without fuss)
-- cleaners working pretty much around the clock it seemed
Generally a friendly atmosphere & nice busy common room, people chatting, eating & drinking in the evening.
I think the 1 star reviews have not really travelled far outside their mummy's living rooms, as this is a decent hostel in a great spot.
J. G.
Easy handling, you can basically check in any time. They have big lockers, Wi-Fi and a nice breakfast. Staff is very helpful, I liked the curtains on each individual bunk bed. Price is almost unbeatable - so two thumbs up!
A. B. E.
Well worth the price. The rooms were fine but beds swayed a little, nowhere to put things like glasses in your bunk. Had some problems with the room/keycard but staff were friendly and quick to help. Cheap to rent out a box to lock your things in. Breakfast was serviceable.
A. C.
If you stay at ground stair, be ready for dirt kitchen and loud neighborhoods, but price is good
B. L.
I really like this hostel and go back to it each time I go to London. Clean, Safe and secure, ideally located. The only thing that is really annoying are the metallic drawer-lockers under the beds that make a hell of a noise each time you open or close them. :/
P. I.
At first the staff seemed a bit cold but after staying for a few days, I noticed they were nice. Obviously, there's room for improvement with the locker service - which was mentioned as free and available on the website but sometimes you don't even get a free locker.
Overall, good for short and inexpensive stays. Wouldn't recommend for longer periods unless you go for a less crowded room.
V. S.
It's not a bad place, as hostels go. The location is really good, and the rooms could be more ventilated, but overall it's not bad. The only problem I had was that the kitchen was closed during breakfast time, so you couldn't even cook or access the fridge.
M. A.
Nice hostel, but not clean enough : the floor is made of carpet, which is very dirty considering the amount of people (15 in some rooms). It's fine for a cheap stay in London if you are ok with very basic conditions. Breakfast is ok.
M. P.
The hostel in a perfect position, very central and extremely close to an underground stop. The facility is quite clean even. You should not have high expectations, but the price is ridiculous, so if you don't mind to adapt to the conditions this place is perfect. I personally do not suggest to pay for the breakfast here, there are more valid alternatives outside.
P. F.
The hostel was good, the staff was helpful and most importantly, it was very clean. We had to use the shared bathrooms which was ok, but I don't know why it is not possible to control the water temperature. So the showers went from freezing to burning water.
A. H.
You get what you pay for. I stayed in a room with 3 bed bed bunks (so 9 people altogether) and it moves quite a lot. Whenever someone walks past our room the entire floor moves. Room doesnt feel clean. Toilets and showers were not the cleanest. Weird shower tap configuration, you have to turn it on full blast to get hot water. So it feels like your being hosed down by a fireman. Some of the shower cubicles don't even get hot water. Breakfast was good and free. WiFi is not good upstairs (1st floor). Can get slow or lose connection often. Towels are £2 for hire. Location is awesome though and it's a cheap accommodation. So you do get what you pay for.
H. A.
This place was seriously ghetto. I imagined it to be something similar to middle school. Let me tell you a story...
I changed hostels in the middle of my London trip so that I could be closer to the train station. It's a pretty far hike from where I was originally staying, and probably even further from the hospital. (Don't ask). The beds are stacked like cages and there were like 20 or something in the room. I slept next to my bag because I don't think there was an available locker for me to put my stuff. The staff really wasn't helpful, especially when I woke up late for my train and was trying to book it out of there. Granted, the waking up late wasn't so much their fault as it was my stupid LG Windows-based phone. But really, if I wanted to sleep in a bunk bed that was separated from the room only by a curtain I'd go to Japan's tube hotels.
J. L. C.
Fine hostel for the money, clean and tidy with nice beds. The only thing to put a finger on was that one of the days i had to try five showers before finding one with hot Water.. and the cleaning/Kitchen staff does not speak English.
K. K.
The beds were firm and comfy. The privacy curtain for each bed was great too. There was no WiFi in the room and the common room was not big enough for all of the people staying there.
R. B.
Good bang for buck here. Drawback is they charge for all extras. Breakfast is reasonable at 2 quid but luggage storage should always be free. Clean and comfy apart from that.

So, for a hostel which is meant to have a kitchen there is no oven. Not a great start. Also, the rooms were way too hot at night even with the window wide open and a fan on throughout the night. The saving grace is the price and location. If either price or location are the limiting factor, go for it, otherwise I'd avoid.
A. M.
Really clean and quite for an hostel ! Staff is nice and kind.
I just had a problem with the lock in the bedroom, but these things happens.
The location is really good and I’m really pleased for the few nights I spent over there !
K. B. (.
Great location, great price. Basic but exactly what you paid for. Rooms are basic, a bit lacking in plug sockets, but it's so cheap you can't complain at all. They even include toast, cereal, and drinks for breakfast. Would stay again in a group.
P. Y.
Great location. Atmosphere in the common area is always great. Free breakfast is really cool. But it is a hostel so don't expect much from the rooms, you'll only get a single bunk.
d. s.
Rooms were very warm, felt like I was been cooked alive. Paid for an ensuite got a regular room. Other than that location was good. It's near the British museum and Chinatown. Also, breakfast was just toast and cereal. So I would recommend getting something of substance at the Prêt à manger close by and eating it in the park.. Get better food and better view. Stayed from Feb 8-10 2019
P. T.
Very close to the center, you don't have to spend money on transport if you want to visit the city.
Perfectly clean. The staff is kind and always available for everything. People here are friendly.
T. W.
Comfortable beds for a competitive price. Have to put your own bedding on. Decent communal space on the ground floor for breakfast and near to a Pret a manager if you're vegan and need a decent breakfast.
R. N. R.
Clean hostel. Friendly people working there. But the structure was not so pleasant. Really small shower and bunk beds in such a way that's impossible to sit. For a short first visit to London I would say the hostel is ok. And the position is also good
G. L.
The location is very good! Beds are too short if you are 179cm tall it's most uncomfortable! Bathrooms are always messy and soggy, And if you are on the 1 or 2 floor, you have t climb 4 flights of stairs After the shower in your underwear. Girls on reception can be a bit dizzy, but quick to want to add Extra things on your credit card if you booked gy credit card. Itsmok in general.
A. N.
Like homeless shelter! If you rent 4 beds mox room 6 beds inside, and the room is very small( 2meterx4meter)! Shower is ok clean good hot water. If you got romm in the 3. or 4. Floor, difficult to walk, without elevator!
A. J.
If you want to know what a sardine feels like stay here, 9 in a small non ac room, so bit fishy.. Smelly. 3 level bunks, banged my head more than once,I was on bottom okay for 1 night just to sleep. location quite good for British museum and simple cheap breakfast. Near goodge st for bars etc. Not cheapest not best, lockers rubbish too small. Overall average.
O. M.
In my opinion and it's worth knowing that I am not the most fastidious person it was allright to stay there. It's not the cosiest and tidiest place but on the other hand it's cheap and pretty close to the city. The staff was nice and courteous and there is somebody at the desk 24/7 which is good in a city like London. You don't have a great view but the neighbourhood is nice and you have a park and many restaurants and shops around. Also the Underground is just some footsteps away. So all in all I can recommend it.
M. M.
Cant really change the temp of the water, cleaners randomly remove things from the room but the hostel wont ship items. Maybe wouldve liked the hostel better if i wasn't in the room with the loudest snorer who seemed to live there
A. B.
The location of the hostel is fine. It is 10-15 minutes walking distance from Kings Cross station. Nearby located Tesco, which is good to buy food while your stay. However, the cleanliness of room and citchen leave much to be desired.
F. T.
Rooms are clean and shower is fine. Beds are a bit small. I am not a tall man but was barely able to fit in it. Overal it is worth the money.
L. Q.
It’s a busget hostel in the heart of London (within walking distance to King Cross or Euston). However the facilites in the room and the bathromm were bad. The room was too small, 3-floor beds, no space to walk. People put there luggage all over the floor since the lockers under beds were small and there was little space between beds so it was inconvenient to use the lockers under bed. The toilet were dirty.
I will not come back.
T. S.
The hostel is a very large building. The lobby is small but has fast Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi reaches the rooms but requires some buffering. The hostel is West of the river by about 1.5 miles. The hostel is nice. Bathroom and shower are within the 9 person hostel but have a separate door between that and the room. The beds have curtons on them and the beds are stacked 3 high.
L.
I don't know why there are so many bad reviews...this is a cheap, very central 1 star hostel. I stayed in a 6 bed ensuit dorm and cannot complain. We never ate breakfast there because who would when there are plenty of cafés to choose from. For a short stay very OK! The personal was helpful and we had a clean room.
We'd check in again.
D. M.
A good acommodation not far from the center and for an excellent price. I paid 11£ per night for a 7 beds room and got breakfast included. It's not exactly the ritz hotel but it will do for the money. Happy stay and enjoy London
D. L.
Hi all fellow visitor's 😁
You will find this hostel amazing.
Clean, with fresh linen.
A wonderful atmosphere.
The staff are extremely helpful. A wonderful and relaxing place to stay when you visit London. 😁
Will definitely stay again. 👌
F. P.
Very nice hostel! Good breakfast and comfortable bedroom. The room with two single beds is small but it even has a TV. It is also very close to the British museum :)
P. C. M.
Want to give 4 stars because I'm optimistic! This hostel has a massive potential. The reseptionists are really helpful and I can say I find my bedroom (8 beds) with a great general conditions, bad point the toilet really small, but I loved the canteen!
A. B.
Bit scruffy but very cheap/good value for money and well organised. Friendly staff. Shower/toilet in the dorm which was handy. No lifts but expect it's physically not possible to install.
F. B. (.
Location is great, tube very close and Kings Cross station reachable in 10 mins walking, very good for train and coaches to the airports. The hostel is good, bed and lockers are average, price is good and common areas are comfortable. Recommended
A. J.
Cheap hostel very centrally located. Easy to get to on foot from King's Cross/St. Pancras with places such as the British Museum or GOSH a 10 minute walk away. Rooms get stiflingly hot in the summer, and not enough space to sit up in the bunk beds if you're over 5ft tall. Bathroom was tiny. Basic breakfast available, staff pleasant enough.
D. T.
Rooms are Ok. Excellent value for money. People are hit and miss in the rooms though. Overall would stay again but probably in own room for more money
R. F.
Dropping a point because the security guard incessantly checks ID cards in the chill out/dining space and has a bad attitude. I don't experience this in any other hostel in London. Lost count how many times he has asked for my card.
D. W.
Friendly, helpful stuff. A lot of people. It was a nice experience staying there. Would recommend for anyone that likes hostels. Very good for group trip stays.
E. V.
Staffs are so kind and friendly. They are brilliant people that I can call. They helped me for recommendation of restaurants, sightseeing places and public transports information whenever I asked. All in all in one word! I recommend to everyone to stay there!!!
A. K.
The rooms are okey, would be nice if they knocked on the room before they came in. Just a bit more clean would be great. It was a nice location tbf. Personally I will not come back for personal reasons.
B. P. (.
As far as hostels go, its the best youll get, clean ans fresh, friendly staff. Simple breakfast of toast and cereal included.
J. M.
As you are in a hostel, the satisfaction depends on what people are in your room. We had quiet good persons in our room. The personel was very good, rooms OK. Good place, can be reached by tube, bus or by foot from centrum.
J. M.
The staff was kind and checked me in and out quickly. Unfortunately you don't get a towel included in the price of the bed, and the bed itself seemed a little short for anyone above an average height, but overall a warm experience.
K. h. W.
Centrally located, very close to Russel Square underground. Great connections to everywhere around London. ~10mins walking to Kings Cross. Dorms are alright, bunk beds with upper, middle and lower berth, with one power outlet next to each bed.
Washrooms and showers are just ok... slippery floor in the shower due to high usage.
Breakfast with cereals and toasts is not bad, just make sure you don’t miss the cut-off time at 9.30am, coz the staff will start the cleaning punctually at 0930.
S. A.
Is a very impressive piece as to also comeback, just the need more staff . But they did the breakfast amazingly.
J. C.
My experience: clean and Comfortable beds, but showers were a hit or miss depending on the level (floor) for cleanliness and usability. Thankfully Always had hot water when we used the showers.
L. H.
You get what you pay for. Locker room type showers. 18 people dorm. 3 story beds. The breakfast is ok. Generally clean.
D. G.
Ok for 2 or 3 days , beds are small , rooms are over crowded but staff are very good , dinning room is very good , kitchen is good , wifi covers every inch which is perfect , lockers are not good and cost extra 1£ / day
But very good site near every thing in london , tesco and waitrose nearby
L. A.
Nice hostal to stay a couple of days or a week in the heart of London. Clean, cosy with a big common room and super close to both subway and bus.
+ there is a pub just around the corner.
R. P.
Great place to stay for the short term, decently priced. The hosts were welcoming. The beds were small and a tad uncomfortable however works for short time stay.
F. L.
Everything was pretty good, maybe the toilette are a bit small, but is cheap and in the middle of London ( 200 mt to British Museum and Holborn Station ), so I think that is a good choose if you want to visit London for few days.
A. A.
Dorms and beds are cramped, showers have no security at all, no free water fountain. Great for meeting new people and socialising. Staff are friendly. Location is good because it's in central London
A. L.
The smaller rooms are nicer. Ok budget hostel. Good locaton. Breakfast is very basic, toas tea, coffee, cornflakes and jam.
B. D. M.
Location is great, just a couple of minutes from the underground and some more from the British museum. The rooms are packed but nice and so is the staff. Very nice for how affordable it is.
S. C.
Have to get used to the style of staying (12 people in a room max, 3 bunk beds) but for what it is, it's excellent. Very clean and bright, not at all shady or creepy.
b. M.
They should fire the main door staff, a black guy who seems to think this place is a Gulag. Obviously his life is so complete he has the incredible power of staring people down, chatting up girls with zero charm, asking for key cards without any manners and talking at everyone as if they are one step away from re-education and enforced labor. What a sad individual. Please Smart Russell Square, get rid of this bad egg staff member so that people can enjoy their travels and your hostel can improve as it has potential.
S. R.
me and some mates stopped through here at the start and end of our euro trip over summer. it was super central, awesome for a night out or to see london. we could get the train from kings cross to gatwick and the eurostar brought us back to the same stations which was a few minutes walk from the hostel. we were placed in a room with an ensuite the second stay which was sick, there was brekky but we missed it. decent place for a few nights, curtains on the beds were a bonus for privacy and to keep the lights dark in your bed. would come back here next time i come over to europe.
O. O.
This place is perfect if affordable and conviniently-situated hostel is what you are looking for. Rooms are very simple, but clean, I can not have any complains.
g. h.
It's a very good location. STAFF ARE REALLY GOOD. Manager is super cool too. Good place to stay. Well happy
E. “. S.
Amazing location, fair price for what you got. The breakfast is really good. The staff is super friendly. Thank you for this amazing experience and we will come back for sure!
W. C.
Lots of students staying there for trips, everything is on a timer, including lights and showers, large number beds are cramped, everything is nickled and dined, but cheapest place to stay in London and decent location
T. V. Z.
had a private room and it was good. however, something was wrong with the water pipes in another room, every time they would use water, this loud horrible noise would come on and pretty muc shake the room
C. M.
It is a cheap place with a very good location. Take in mind it is a hostel, so you can enjoy your stance. I share a room with three Spanishs and the time there was secure and quiet.
T. M.
Small and warm hostel, front desk were nice, it's what you're looking for when you go somewhere for visiting and don't plan to spend much time in your shared hotel room.
H. F.
Staff is very nice, in particular Irene! Rooms are too hot and smelly during the summer. Common areas are clean and tidy.
N. M.
The beds are comfortable, It's a clean place and the staff is really kind. Breakfast is not included, so you have to pay for it.
H. K.
Had a room with 6 bunks and shower/toilet. Other travellers were all respectful. Staff were extremely helpful
M. V.
Great venue for our stay in London.
S.
It's not amazing but it's clean and well located. You can have a breakfast for as little as 2£. The mixed dormitory are quite cheap.
A. K.
The place is good, good common room and beds had adequate privacy with curtains. Your sleep depends on which whom you are sharing your room.
S. R. A.
Nice position and price. Rooms a little small and you can sleep with noisy or silent people. The best is the breakfast, you can meet a lot of people
M. K.
Incredibly Cheap and right in the heart if London. Clean and friendly. If you're just looking for a bed for a few nights whilst visiting London, this is the place.
W. O.
Overall fine. I didn't like the fact the bunk beds are 3 high - it was a nightmare getting up that high, and a little bit dangerous if you fall off. Apart from that it was fine.
L. D.
Good for sleeping, cheap, bring a torch since bedrooms are really dark and definitely bring bath stuff, towels and earplugs (snorers)
C. S. L.
Great experience for hostel over here! Offer locker service with add on, and provided clean sleeping place! Have to mention breakfast are awesome for me too!
O. E.
Definitely Location is Great near underground and train station.
Receptionists are very good and helpful.
Surely hope to stay again.
C. D. N.
The place is right in the center, closed to Russell Square Tube station, park, the British Museum, the University College of London, SOAS, the Brunswick shopping center and just 10 minutes walk to Saint Pancras Train station and Bus to Stansted Airport. A room is what you need. Toilets, hot shower and kitchen, including English breakfast.
J. L.
Good cheap hostel with free breakfast and WiFi. Bunks a little small but ok place to stay. Extra charge for lockers isn't great.
C. T. W.
A cheap hostel near Central London, you get what you paid for, can't complain much, you're given bedsheets when checking in and you have to put them in yourself, you also have to take them out yourself when checking out.
C. S.
Great location. Very nice staff. Nice and clean rooms, simple but good breakfast.
A. S.
The location is very good: near to shops, underground and parks. Rooms are quote comfortable, very clean but often crowded. The service is good
A. B.
Clean.
economic.
safe.
and
In the center of London.
a great place.
C. M.
Th staff was very friendly, and the rooms are nice, but so small! Good for an afternoon nap, or one night stay.
l. f.
Is a good low cost hostel, if you dont have any problem to sleep with lot people... The breackfast is enough, the people there is kind
E. M.
Great breakfast, but you can not regulate the water temperature in the showers (can be to cold or to hot). But its quite cheap for the location.
G.
It was my first time in a hostel and overall had positive experience. Wasn’t most luxurious place but does what it needs to do.
J. P.
Good place to sleeping for some nights for good money, but the rooms are small, if you can comfort and quiet, choice another type of housing.
M. M.
Rooms are decent, however the water did not work in the morning (faucets, shower, toilets were not turning on whatsoever)
V. L.
Cheap and good. But somewhat untidy. Location is superb although the people there can often be unkind and things can get really messy over there. Recommended if you want a cheap place for a good location.
P. a. P.
Lovely team,I loved them,I cook inside, made friends and shared amazing moments, watching tv while eating dinner, smoking in front the hostel, not far from the center, internet not very good , I recommend
J. W.
Fine for a basic hostel, felt a bit like a sardine in an 18 bed room, beds stacked 3 high.
Ю. Є.
Small rooms even don’t have a chair where you can seat. Was problem with hot water. This please ok only for one night
D. H.
Felt overcrowded, especially in the chaotic breakfast. Beds are most basic hostels beds but cheap price and good location
P. S.
You get what you pay for. If you're looking for a really cheap option to stay in London for a few days, then go for it, but the rooms are far from cozy and the bathrooms take a bit of getting used to..
F. S.
For the price, ok ... the room was quite dirty and way too small for 9 people, however, the bathroom was clean. Friendly staff.
R. L.
One of the best hostels I've stayed at rooms are clean and bunks have privicy curtains, slept very easily
C. T.
Great location, value for money, friendly staff, lots of space in the room (a room with 4 beds), private toilet/bath.
R. C.
They serve all u can eat breakfast for 2£.The room is noisy specially in the area near the street you can hear the voices of the passersby.
R. K.
Nice place for its price. Friendly stuff and pretty quiet inside at night. Not far from the city center and close to several metro stations.
G. S.
Big place, clean, nice people, nice and politely staff, big rooms and at middle of the city.
P. D.
Really good place friendly staff especially Marios was rly helpful and professional the hostel is 4 stars but cuz of him definitely 5 ,I definitely recommend, thank you I’ll definitely come back !
L. F.
Hostel really clean !
Staff really Nice and helpfull
Closed To russell square station and russell Square garden , tesco, prêt à manger ,1 pub
C. A. O. S.
Really lovely hostel, clean, well organised, laundry room available, vending machine, kitchen. Good value for money.
G. B.
Recommended for price vs location.
C. T.
Good place to spend some nights in London ! Really cheap for the service offers (even with additional services like lockers it's still cheap for London)
G. J.
The staff where friendly and helpful. They have a good kitchen with all you need. It is a little cramped but it is good for it’s price.
T. C.
Nice hotel. Small showers in en suite rooms and difficult to operate. Good breakfast.
H. W.
Definitely the best value in London. Excellent location. Friendly staff. Very clean. Hard to get a booking for good reason.
m.
Good for the price. Can be a little noisy depending on who is staying but still quite nice and tidy
S. D. (.
Great place but there is nowhere to eat your own breakfast and no reading light.
But it is well located and cheap !
D. L.
Central location. Friendly staff. Pleasant accommodation. Free breakfast.
P. K.
I have never been in a hostel before. It looked OK but I don't think I would feel comfortable living in one.
R. J.
Cheap, good location, possibility to buy a breakfast, kind personal. Only one disadvantage - 3th floor bed.
J. K.
Nice hostel. Small rooms but always clean. Great prices. Near to center.
S.
Good place to stay. Problems i faced was non working fan, small restrooms. Other than that, good for groups
l. i.
The place is clean and the reception staff is a bit rude! The room allocated was very noisy at night.
K. G.
Very nice locality and best priced place , I had taken 6 bed ensuite which is very nice , reception is helpful break fast is good too
E. M.
Great place in many aspects but the beds are too small and u cannot even seat on them.
J. G.
Cheap and very well located, but the rooms are quite small and not quite clean....
D. S.
Nice, but you should warn that the beds are too short for people taller than 180cm!
B. S.
Cheap hostel with an awesome location, but 5 toilettes for one floor is definetly not sufficient, especially when its in the morning or evening.
M. P.
clean, always very busy. the breakfast is a bit poor, but it's a good hostel to stay.
I.
Really nice and clean room, free wifi, nice crew. Im satisfied.
J. M. A.
Good cheap hostel. Not perfect but you get what you pay for since its in a great location. I'll defenitely come back here
S. B.
It was okay nothing amazing, was clean enough except for the floors. But for £19.99 you can't really complain!
A. M.
The staff were really very helpful, actually it's kind of crazy to see them work because they really need to deal with the craziest and sometimes scary situations, thanks Kasper and Solomon for all !!
K.
For a very cheap price I got good accommodation in a very good part of London. Very close to the centre, I walked everywhere from it.
N. C.
Nice place, cleaning could be improved but the location is fantastic and if you're not a fussy person i really recommend it!!
And also friendly staff.
И. Ч.
Nice hostel in the centre of London. Breakfast included. Good if you want a cheap stay.

C. E. (.
good, clean and well furnished. The bed was comfortable.
I. S.
They are very good for the price. Even free breakfast was served when I visited in london in March!
I.
Russell Square! Perfect place for staying 4-5 days. Good location, next to British museum and completely full of little parks
D. T. M.
It was cheap, so I wasn't expecting much. If all you want is a bed and showers in a good city location, this place delivers.
P. N.
Office personnel friendly
People are not traveling
More homeless. Russian help are rude and unfriendly
E. L.
Great place. With easy breakfast. For only £10 Very nice staff as well.
A. Y.
It's. Fine good location and OK price but not the best hostel in the world.
M.
I will never forget those temperimental showers... very basic hostel with many to a room.
F. B.
It is ok. I slept in better places for the same money, but I slept also in worse places for the same amount. In general so so
A. K.
The place is good, good common room and beds had adequate privacy with curtains. Your sleep depends on which whom you are sharing your room.
T. V. Z.
had a private room and it was good. however, something was wrong with the water pipes in another room, every time they would use water, this loud horrible noise would come on and pretty muc shake the room

Good place to stay. Problems i faced was non working fan, small restrooms. Other than that, good for groups
T. H.
Really good for a place to stay for a couple of nights. Wouldn't want to stay any longer
V. S.
Beds are too small for someone with my size, but the rest was good
L. T.
Triple bunk beds, very claustrophobic. Budget rooms are stuffy and in the basement. Outlets not in all rooms.
T. E.
Bed was a bit short for me (I'm 182 cm) but nothing shocking for a cheaper hostel
o. l.
Nice place, no free towels do
C. K.
Excellent hotel apart from some communication issues between cleaning staff and repair men.
C. D.
Clean but not so comfortable. The sinks are too small, few and with a mad time-tap.
M. K.
Nice hostel in Central London that is low price and has very nice staff. They also accept long-term stay.
D. J.
Ordered the romm short notice, very clean polite... Warm clean... Very good for money...
K. A.
Beds are pretty small and uncomfortable but for a short stay it's not too bad
M. O.
Wi-Fi was working perfectly, rooms too small and way too expensive
V. S.
Beds are too small for someone with my size, but the rest was good
O. M.
good value for price, acceptable place for a crash in the bed after a long day.
A. M.
Very crowded and very small rooms. It's okay just for few days and if you are young.
M. A.
Very nice place and I really love the Asian security guy
A. R.
Yea get what yea pay for. 🙄
A. G.
Great clean hostel. Nice simple breakfast.
М. В.
I had problems with registration, with snack automata ... But the location of this hostel covers almost all the minuses!
H. S.
It's basic. But basic and free wifi and a kitchen is all I need so I like staying here.
M. K.
As I stay in London just 1 night a week it is exactly what I need. Staff are very efficient at what they do and very helpful.
C. F. (.
A good as enough hostel, near the tube. Nice people around there and it's very cheap!

Very nice place, nice and helpful staff, clean object, very close to British Museum, Soho, Chinatown or King Cross
J. C.
I like this place. It has a certain charm that feels very London. Will defiantly come back soon
L. C.
Not sure why but there seemed to be a door slamming competition on my floor. Had to pay for a locker, which I though of as ridiculous.
J. C.
Cheap enough and has everything you would expect (no towels), quite small rooms
R. S.
Nice hostel and well located, close to many attraction just by walk
B. D.
Nice and clean. 15-20 mins from Lichester square. Good location.

A. S. L.
A pleasant place to stay with a tight budget
It gives bangs for few bucks

Fine hestel, but do not recomend if you are over 180 cm
M. U.
Affordable and High Quality WiFi! I'll stay again soon!
A. W.
Great location in a good price, could be a bit modernized but can't complain too much.

Not the best hostel. Rooms are too little to have a minimum of rest.
